  • HRE P40SC Porsche 997 Turbo adds more contrast to the road

HRE-P40SC-Porsche-997-Turbo-THUMBWhat could make a Porsche 977 Turbo stand out among the rest? The answer is a dramatic grey and red contrast. It has been achieved thanks to the enhancement which has been done with the help of HRE Wheels.

The car is originally equipped with a 6-cylinder, 3.8 liter boxer engine generating 500 hp (370 kW). The Porsche is equipped with manual 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, sport-chrono package, featuring the availability of an electronically controlled launch-control and an overboost-function for temporary increasing the turbo-pressure.

  • Porsche 918 Spyder concept debuts at Goodwood

Porsche 918 Spyder concept has just made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was introduced to the wide public back in the 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, where it gathered praises and received overwhelming reaction from the sports car enthusiasts.

918 Spyder has unique hybrid technology, thanks to Porsche’s Intelligent Performance system. The latter is responsible for the estimated fuel consumption of the car of 3 liters per kilometer (or 94 mpg), equating to CO2 emissions of 70 g/km. The supercar is equipped with V8 petrol engine which generates more than 500 hp (368 kW). In addition this engine is assisted by two electric motors with a total of 160 kW (218hp).

The energy storage unit is a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that can be charged from a conventional domestic power socket, delivering a range in excess of 25km (16 miles) in the NEDC on purely electric power.

Thanks to the great power it has, this super sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a maximum of 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of more than 320 km/h (199 mph).

  • Oxigen Add Color to 14 Oxrock Line

Oxigin-14-Oxrock-thumbLet’s talk about wrapping again. Apparently a fairly popular marque of wheels can now come with certain candy shades. It’s the 14 Oxrock line from Oxigin – the Esslingen, Germany based manufacturer.

All Oxigin 14 alloy wheels can have some high-grade foil applied to them and the colour spectrum is immense. Leather based foils are also available. Also, unless you like to grind curbs on a daily basis, the wrapping should last and should not fade.

Oxigen even have a sample car for us which is a Porsche 911 with an appropriately coordinated theme that matches the wheels. We personally wouldn’t go for the baby blue (red on black is our weakness) but the end effect is satisfying.

The Oxigin 14 Oxrock can be supplied in the following dimensions:

    • 7.5×17 inches
    • 8.5×18 inches
    • 8.5×19 inches
    • 9.5×19 inches
    • 8.5×20 inches
    • 9.5×20 inches
    • 11×20 inches
    • 10×22 inches

You’ll get some documentation as well – ABE or TÜV. Quality stuff.

  • GEMBALLA Add Aero 2 GT Kit to Porsche Cayenne

Gemballa-Porsche-Cayenne-Aero-2-thumbGemballa see themselves as the force of evolution and today’s subject is the Porsche Cayenne 958. For it, they have a GT AERO 2 package which is basically a second stage carbon fiber body kit that adds a little flare to an already existing one – the GT AERO 1. Apparently, the latter was introduced at the beginning of this year.

So the GT AERO 2 adds wheel arch extensions and connecting side sills that “emphasize” (broaden) the Cayenne‘s width. Also…that’s about it. Everything aftermarketish on this Cayenne is the stuff seen on the GT AERO 1. That is, the front bumper and splitter, the rear bumper and the six tailpipes that stick out from it. The rooftop spoiler is the work of Gemballa too.

All finished and easily fitted, they had to find the appropriate wheels to fill in those arches. Will a set of 22-inch Gemballa bulks of alloy do the job?

  • Porsche Exclusive 911 Carrera S

Porsche-Exclusve-911-Carrera-S-thumbAftermarket enhancements is what most tuning houses do, no question about it. If one seeks to extract something extra from his/hers Porsche, the logical thing to do is contacting the people from SpeedART, TECHART, 9ff or even RUF. Now though, you can turn to Porsche Exclusive… if you happen to have a Porsche 911 Carrera S. They will be more than happy to provide some extra oomph for the engine with their ‘Porsche Exclusive Program.’

With that in place, your Carrera S will have 450 bhp instead of 400. A Coupe with that kind of power and a PDK transmission on Sport Plus mode can do 60 mph from a stand still in just 3.9 seconds. Surprisingly however, the Carrera’s economy figure remains unchanged.

How they have achieved this is beyond us. No, wait. It’s not. The cylinder heads have been redesigned and so have been the camshaft profiles. The engine now breathes better and thus allows some tinkering with the management system. The Exclusive Carreras will sound right as well thanks to the new variable resonance intake system design that has seven flaps in total.

We get some visual alterations as well. The level of “kitting” will be fairly flexible – one can go for the subtle ducktail spoiler or go all the way to the Aerokit Cup package where there’s a fixed rear wing over the standard rear spoiler and a special front spoiler lip with more vents then ever.

The Exclusive Program will be available in the USA this fall. It will be specifically made for the Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe or Cabriolet and you’ll get a ton of other options as well.

  • Nakai-San from Rauh Welt Begriff: thoughts on the creative process [VIDEO]

If you hear for the first time the name Nikai-San or are unfamiliar with Rauh Welt Begriff (RWB), then it is time to be introduced with a bit more information about this amazing Japan-based Porsche tuner.

Basically RWB has combined Japanese and Euro tuning elements, with the only aim – to create uniqueness. • SpeedART SP81-R Porsche Boxster

SpeedART-Porsche-Carrera-Boxster-SP81-R-thumbMore updates from rather silent tuners. This one is from SpeedART – the SP81-R based on the Porsche Boxster/S type 981. It incorporates the full package: a body kit, some power increase, noise, wheels and a few suspension tweaks.

The SP81-R body kit comprises of a rear wing plus diffusor, side skirts and a front splitter. The wing attaches itself on the stock spoiler yet one can notice it from afar. The overall body color is one traditional for SpeedART – dual-themed paint first seen on the PS9-Panamera and S91-R Carrera projects. As for shoe ware, the SP81-R Porsches can come with SpeedART modular 20 and 21-inch LSC-Forged wheels – ultra-ultra light, unique and stylish.

Under the hood, both for the Boxster and Boxster S, there will be an ECU chip that will increase the power with around 20 hp and just as much Nm of torque. Not without the help of a sport exhaust system complete with high-performance catalysts and manifolds of course. That said, one also does get a sound switch just for showing off. Also, a range of tailpipes will be available for you to choose from – individuality at its best. A full set of a Titanium-made exhaust system will act as an alternative for the most enthusiastic among you.

The SP81-R Boxsters sit lower on their sport tuned suspensions, height adjustable absorbers and stiff coils. Still, an airlift suspension is also provided in other to tackle even the beefiest of speed humps.

Inside we are promised a completely new interior that makes use of Alcantra and leather. Better yet, SpeedART won’t deny that it will be much different from the interior seen in the most recent 911 at the Geneva Motorshow.

  • Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S Best Luxury Car Award

Maserati-Quattroporte-Sport-GT-S-thumbThe Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S has been around for quite a while now, and yet it still manages to capture the public’s hearts. The latest award to be swept away by the four-door grand tourer comes from the leading Spanish financial magazine “El Economista”. The category is “Best Luxury Car”.

Within 15 days, more than 60, 000 people saw the Quattroporte as the most suitable contestant. Runner ups included the Porsche Panamera GTS, Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II, Audi S8, Jaguar XJ and BMW Series 6 Gran Coupé.

“The Italian Marque can combine like nobody else the best luxury with the strongest performance. This is the very essence of this Sport GT S version of the Maserati Quattroporte saloon. The result of the vote clearly shows that sportiness and luxury work better when they are combined, that people do not want to choose between one or the other: they want both” said Manolo Domenech, Editor of Ecomotor during the award ceremony which took place on the opening day of the Madrid Motor Show.

Popping up the hood, we have to admit, the Sport GT S is a charmer – a 4.7 V8 powertrain that develops 433 bhp and 490 Nm. Further down the line, an automatic/paddle-shigt transmission sends the power to 20-inch, wider-than-standard wheels. Inside various accents incorporate carbon-fiber and Alcantra.

As a model, the Quattroporte has received over 50 awards during its lifetime – which is sort of not enough considering that Pininfarina were responsible for the design.

  • Porsche 918 Spyder Prototype – 770HP

Porsche will actually release the 918 Spyder. The manufacturer has finished the first prototype.

The powertrain includes a 4.6 liter V8 with 570HP (419 kW) and two electric motors – a 109HP (80 kW) on the front axle and a 122HP (90 kW) electric motor on the rear axle. This means a combined power of 770HP (566 kW). 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). This performance comes at decent “price” – 3.0 litres per 100 km (94.1 mpg UK) with CO2 emission of 70 g/km. Furthermore, thanks to a 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, the model can travel more than 25 km (15.5 miles) on electricity alone at speeds up to 150 km/h (93 mph).

“What we are doing with the 918 Spyder is redefining driving fun, efficiency and performance,” said Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development of Porsche AG.

Porsche is breaking yet more new ground with the technology demonstrator with spectacular solutions such as the full carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque with unit carrier, fully adaptive aerodynamics, adaptive rear-axle steering and the upward-venting “top pipes” exhaust system. In the process, the 918 Spyder is offering a glimpse of what Porsche Intelligent Performance may be capable of in future.
The 918 Spyder will go into production at the end of September 2013 as planned, with the first customers receiving their vehicles before 2013 is out.
