  • 2004 Jaguar BlackJag Concept – Price €2,800,000

Jaguar BlackJag Concept was originally presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show. The unique model is currently available on the market for the astonishing price of €2.8 million (around $3.82 million). A private seller from Ingolstadt, Germany has published the advertisement in mobile.de.

2014 Jaguar BlackJag Concept was created by design house Fuore Design as a successor for the XF10. Unfortunately, the impressive sports car has never reached production. It is powered by a massive 7.0 liter V10 engine with 640HP (471 kW). 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 338 km/h (210 mph). So, it is a real rival of Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

There are no details about the history of the one-off BlackJag, but it could be owned by the company’s founder and automotive designer Erwin Leo Himmel.  However, we seriously doubt that somebody will purchase it – first, because of the price and second, because very few people know about this model, which means that it is quite unpopular.

Jaguar is continuing to release interesting concept vehicles such as C-X75 Prototype Hybrid, which is powered by a 1.6 liter turbocharged petrol engine –  500HP (372 kW) and two electric motors with 390HP (290 kW). This means a combined power output of around 850HP (633 kW).

  • Jaguar Reveals First Image Of Production 2015 XE

2015-Jaguar-XE-THUMB2015 Jaguar XE was revealed at company’s official Facebook page with a first image. The production version of the sedan is going to make a public debut at Paris Motor Show later this year. Jaguar confirmed that the car will be available on the market in mid-2015. In addition, the company is also planning to show more images of the car made in the same manner. The first picture shows how the XE is wrapped with a foil which perfectly displays what is under the bodywork.

In other words, via the “see-through camouflage” we can witness aluminum monocoque and other internal structures. The aluminum structure is called by the luxury company iQ[Al] and will be also utilized for other vehicles.

We can also see from the picture that the XE is similar to the XF and has an aggressive front fascia, rectangular grille with thin headlights as well as large rearview mirrors and wide wheel-arches. The car will be driven by the Ingenium 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, and by the 3.0-liter supercharged V6.

The powertrains will be installed in transverse or inline configurations. This will depend on the rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive that the car will come with. Although several markets will have the new XE available in mid-2015, North America will receive it in 2016.

  • David Brown Automotive Unveils Speedback Ahead Of Monaco Debut [VIDEO]

David-Brown-Automotive-Speedback-THUMBDavid Brown Automotive unveiled its first handcrafted and one-ff GT car called Speedback at an exclusive event in London. The V8 powered sports coupe will have it official debut in Monaco at the Top Marques show 17th to 20th April.

David Brown has deep background in engineering and vehicle manufacturing. Its vehicle combines the best of classic and contemporary cars. As one can see from the pictures the GT has the classic styling, resembling old sports cars, but is equipped with modern mechanicals and offer modern reliability. The assembling of the car began two years ago.

Speedback’s exceptional performance and handling is ensured via the latest Jaguar 5 litre supercharged engine. In fact, the car itself is based on the famous Jaguar XKR. This means that the Speedback will also offer extensive aerodynamics and suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and exhilarating braking performance.

As mentioned, the sports car is driven by the modern 5.0-liter supercharged V8 unit, which delivers more than 550 horsepower (404 kW) and 680Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. We assume that just like its sibling the XKR it is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. No details on the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h were disclosed, so this keeps us wondering.

  • Jaguar Introduces XFR-S Sportbrake

Jaguar-XFR-S-Sportbrake-THUMBJaguar XFR-S Sportbrake is the third model to join the high performance R-S range of the luxury company. The car incorporates engineering characteristics from XKR-S and the F-TYPE two-seater, thus delivering focused, agile and responsive driving qualities.

XFR-S Sportbrake is equipped with 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, which is capable of producing 550 hp (404 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft). The unit is coupled with an eight-speed transmission which also includes the ‘Quickshift’ technology that was developed for the F-TYPE. The result is acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds) on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h).

Furthermore, Sportbrake’s rear suspension was modified with revisions to both rear spring rates and the adaptive damper tune. In addition, the recalibrated active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control settings were also tuned for this model.

In terms of exterior design, the car features deeper front bumper with larger carbon-fiber lower central and side air intakes. The front splitter at the lower edge of the bumper was aerodynamically enhanced, while the extended side sills and aeroblade mouldings behind the front wheels serve to create a sharp break-off point between the lower bodywork and the road surface. The same design philosophy was applied to the deeper side mouldings behind the rear wheels, where the extended rear bumper also includes a central, carbon fibre diffuser.

The new Jaguar model runs on wider, six-spoke, 20-inch lightweight Varuna forged alloy wheels. In addition, the assertive appearance of the XFR-S Sportbrake was further enhanced via the gloss black trim in place of chrome around the grille, within the side vent, around the front and rear screens, windows and across the bootlid.

The exterior colors offered here are: Ultra Blue, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Polaris White and Italian Racing Red. On the other hand the interior trim is standard and features Warm Charcoal leather trim on the seats and doors enhanced through the use of carbon effect leather. Also on the inside, the XFR-S Sportbrake is equipped with as standard with a 825W, 18-speaker Meridian system.

The tyres for the model were specifically developed in conjunction with Pirelli and are are 10mm wider all round, namely 265/35 and 295/30 at the front and the rear. The difference between the wheel rim and tyre width increases has the effect of pre-loading the sidewall to improve handling and steering response without adversely affecting refinement.

The revised electronic programmes controlling the Adaptive Dynamics, active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control systems, work in harmony with the refined suspension, wheels and tyres. Jaguar’s active electronic differential on the other hand can apply full locking torque almost instantaneously when necessary. Furthermore, the car is fitted with High Performance Braking System. The 380mm front and 376mm rear discs are internally ventilated and assure repeated stopping power.

  • Arden Enhances Jaguar XJ 358

arden-jaguar-xj-358-THUMbbAlthough the Jaguar XJ 358 is not a brand new car it is undoubtedly worth it when something exciting happens around it. Such “thing” is the tuning enhancing that the specialists at Arden have given it.

Jaguar XJ 358 was produced between 2007 and 2009 and was the facelifted version of the X350. Compared to its predecessor, Jaguar gave the car a revised front grille that was positioned low, new front bumper assembly, a changed Jaguar Logo, revised front lights and door mirrors. The interior was only slightly changed, and included resculptured front seats.

Arden has given this emblem in the automotive history a front conversion. It comprises of stainless steel grille for the front bumper, two front bumper lips and two air inlets with daytime lights. What is specifically exciting about these parts is that they were made out of premium fiber glass carbon compound and were additionally tested and optimized in the wind tunnel.

Thanks to these simple improvements, the designers have managed to transform the classic lines and elegant appearance of the XJ 358 into a timeless limousine representing style and class like no other model.

What is left to be said is that Arden’s front spoiler that has a larger air inlets and integrated LED daytime lights, not only contributes for XJ’s impressive “face”, but also additionally improves road safety.

  • Update: David Brown Automotive On The Project Judi

David-Brown-Project-Judi-Teaser-shadowDavid-Brown-Project-Judi-Teaser-medium-1Here’s an update on the Judi project by David Brown Automotive: some specifications and a few close-up shots talking. First, however, we have a confession to make. We were wrong; David Brown are not quite building a car from scratch. No, the chassis and drivetrain used for the Project Judi, as it turns out, are very similar to that of a Jaguar XKR. We would say identical even, but David Brown Automotive claim to have had them optimized (with the help of the blokes from Envisage group). All and all, that’s not bad news; it’s just that we are a bit disappointed.

What does all of that speak of the performance. Well, expect a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine sending it’s might to the rear wheels through a sic-speed automatic gearbox. All of that should be good for a 0-60 mph sprint in just 4.6 seconds and a top speed above 155 mph.

The “completely original” aspect of the Judi manifests itself in the design (interior and exterior): high-quality materials and aerodynamic motives. Here’s what more David Brown himself had to say about the end product:

“It has been developed using a combination of both traditional and contemporary technology, including the latest in automotive expertise. It has undergone a thorough analysis and development programme, including highly advanced windtunnel and dynamic simulations.”

Expect the full reveal at the Top Marques Show in Monaco on the 17th of April.

  • David Brown Automotive: A British Luxury Sports Car Brand With A Debut Model In April

David-Brown-Automotive-Logo-Teaser-shadowDavid-Brown-Automotive-Logo-Teaser-mediumA successful British businessman and car enthusiast, David Brown, is taking on the automotive world with a company baring his name.

David Brown Automotive’s first model – which is to arrive in April this year in a very limited number – is being built from scratch. No badge engineering and no borrowing. Things sound even more promising when you hear that Mr. Alan Mobberley – Chief Designer at Land Rover for 19 years, until 2005 – is leading the way. All the while, the bits that require engineering, have been developed by a company called Envisage Group.

By the looks of things, Mr David Brown seems knows what he’s doing. At the moment, work is being done under the codename “Project Judi”. The way we see it, it is a modern take on the front-engined, RWD classsic sports car:

”…but with modern capabilities and conveniences. This is what I want in a car, but it’s not something anyone really offers. So, I’ve created it myself.” comments Mr. Brown

Can he really pull it off? The car industry is a curios case. Will the David Brown vehicles be on par with the established names such as Bentley, or Rolls-Royce, or Jaguar? No, they will need some pedigree before that. How about sixty years from now then; will David Brown be an established name as are the names of the giants today? It’s food for thought this.

In the mean time, we would like to wish David Brown Automotive some luck.David-Brown-Automotive-medium
