  • Jaguar Project 7 Concept Car To Debut At Goodwood [VIDEO]

Jaguar-Project-7-Concept-Car-THUMBJaguar Project 7 Concept Car is going to debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend on 12th of July. This concept of Jaguar’s is based on the 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE. The name of the car – Projcet 7 comes to acknowledge the seven wins of the brand at the Le Mans achieved between 1951-1990. In addition its blue paintwork is reminiscent of the victorious Jaguar D-type cars of 1956/1957.

As a matter of fact, the concept is not a static one, but instead is a fully-functional, high-performance sports car. It has inherited the F-TYPE’s rigid all-aluminum architecture, and additionally it is equipped with 550 hp (405 kW) supercharged 5-liter Jaguar V8 engine.

The power is transferred to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF transmission with “Quickshift” technology, and an active electronically controlled limited slip differential. Furthermore, the new racing concept also includes a free-flow exhaust system with a ceramic finish, 10mm lower ride height and a custom-calibrated spring/damper tune.

In the design of the Projct 7 it is visible that the engineers and designers tried to stay as close as possible to the F-TYPE’s two key design ‘heartlines’. The biggest change however is the new D-Type-inspired rear fairing section which embodies a rollover hoop and swoops down from behind the driver.

In order to make the car more aerodynamically enhanced, there were made some modifications such as carbon-fiber front air splitter, side skirts, large rear diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler with a 14-degree angle of attack. What are also made of carbon fiber are the side louvers and bonnet vents. The carbon elements and the aluminum mirrors draw inspiration from those on Jaguar’s C-X16 sports car concept, which inspired the F-TYPE.

Moreover, in this project, the windshield has been lowered, and at the same time a new front fascia design includes revised air intakes and headlights with gloss black surrounds. On the road, the car will run on 20-inch forged-alloy wheels with carbon-fiber inserts.

Going inside, the interior includes a composite bucket seat for the driver, which is 1.2 inches lower than the stock seat, and is gripped by a four-point racing harness. The passenger seat is replaced by a custom fabricated helmet holder, which carries a custom-designed Project 7 helmet in matching blue paint and graphics.

The seat and the inner part of the doors are made of quilted racing-style diamond pattern. There are also visible the carbon-fiber inserts on the console and shift lever, and the steering wheel is equipped with machined aluminum paddles.

  • Jaguar C-X75: Hybrid Supercar Prototype Without Equal [VIDEO]

Jaguar-C-X75-THUMBJust two days after the release of official images, Jaguar is now disclosing a video, which shows the potential and capabilities of the new Jaguar C-X75 Prototype.

The film concentrates on behind-the-scenes information of the car’s development. It is named: C-X75 – A hybrid supercar prototype without equal. In the video are featured opinions of vehicle’s lead programme engineers and in addition it reveals the challenges which they had to overcome in developing this car.

Their main goal was to produce a prototype which has a Vmax of 220 mph, but still can produce fewer than 89g of CO2 per kilometre and can even run with zero emissions for up to 60km. In fact, this Jaguar is based on the C-X75 Concept which came to light in 2010.

In just two years, the advanced engineering team has created an all-wheel drive, plug-in parallel hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with the world’s highest specific power engine and Jaguar’s first carbon composite monocoque chassis.

Furthermore, some of the highlights in the development of C-X75 prototypes include cutting-edge hybrid technologies, carbon composite materials and advanced design solutions pioneered in association with Williams Advanced Engineering.

To go further into details, the C-X75 has a combined power output in excess of 850 hp (625 kW) and 1000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. These numbers were made possible thanks to the state-of-the-art, Formula 1-inspired, 1.6-litre dual-boosted (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder powerplant. The latter produces 502 hp (370 kW) at 10,000 rpm and is coupled with the highest torque and power density electric motors in production, which generate a further 390 horsepower (297 kW).

The battery pack hidden in the C-X75 is the PHEV one which is capable of delivering more than 300 kW over the full state of the charge window. The aforementioned facts and numbers contribute to the logical conclusion that the acceleration time of this model will be stunning.

To be more precise, the car covers the run from standstill to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds, thanks to its advanced 7-speed automated manual transmission that allows gearshifts in fewer than 200 milliseconds.

  • Petrolicious: The Last Of The Breed [VIDEO]

Owning one of the rarest cars on earth is more than a privilege. The 1974 Jaguar XK-E in this video is literally the last of its breed, being the 60th from last produced. The proud person who drives this Jaguar is David Paddison, who immediately fell in love when he saw it. And this is the basic line of the story of Petrolicious‘s latest video.

Paddison didn’t grow up in a car-loving family, instead he developed his passion for cars with his friends with whom he grew up racing slot cars before graduating into full-sized versions. His passion today developed in that way that he now collects classic cars.

The E-Type or simply the XK-E was produced between 1961 and 1974, and offered combination of exceptional appearance and high performance. The car was also ranked first in the list of the world’s “100 most beautiful cars” of all time.

To go even further into details, the 1974 version was equipped with 5.3 L V12 engine and included uprated brakes and standard power steering. And as Paddison says himself – this XK-E can not be compared to the contemporary cars, it delivers extremely different driving experience!
