  • Jaguar F-TYPE 75 Special Edition

The Jaguar F-TYPE is the definitive Jaguar sports car from a rich bloodline spanning 75 years and including some of the most iconic models ever built.

In Coupé or Convertible form, F-TYPE offers a perfect balance of visceral performance and driver reward with a muscular, assertive design and a cabin defined by luxurious materials, exacting craftsmanship and exquisite details.

For the final Model Year, on sale from early 2023, the range has become simpler and more focused, making it easy for customers to select their perfect F-TYPE. The car looks more purposeful and assertive than ever too, with 20-inch wheels standard on all models, and discreet detail changes such as the wheel centres and grille badge changing from red to black, and the R and R-Dynamic badge accent colours now black and grey instead of red and green.

To mark the final Model Year of F-TYPE and 75 years of Jaguar sports cars, customers can choose the new F-TYPE 75 or F-TYPE R 75 special editions. These are distinguished by unique interior and exterior design elements, carefully curated specifications, and – of course – the supercharged 5.0-litre Jaguar V8 engine** synonymous with F-TYPE. These exclusive models are a fitting celebration of internal combustion engine performance before Jaguar becomes a pure electric modern luxury brand from 2025.

Matthew Beaven, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Designer, Exteriors, said; “For 75 years Jaguar has been renowned for producing extraordinary sports cars that deliver performance, agility and maximum driver reward. The F-TYPE special editions hold true to these principles, adding unique interior and exterior design details to celebrate this lineage before Jaguar becomes an all-electric brand from 2025.”

    Design

The Jaguar F-TYPE looks as dramatic as ever and is the definitive Jaguar sports car in a rich bloodline going back 75 years. The powerful proportions of the front-engine two-seater – with its body structure sculpted from light, stiff aluminium – are instantly recognisable, and the focused and assertive presence references the flowing forms from Jaguar’s rich sports car heritage, which began with the XK120 – launched in 1948 as the world’s fastest production car.

Super-slim LED headlights, featuring Pixel technology as standard, with ‘Calligraphy’ J signature daytime running lights and sweeping direction indicators accentuate the car’s visual width and hint at its performance potential. They blend perfectly into the ‘liquid metal’ surfacing of the clamshell bonnet, which sweeps elegantly back, inspired by iconic models such as the C-type and D-type.

Unique to the F-TYPE 75 and F-TYPE R 75 are discreet badges on the front fenders which depict the F-TYPE’s unmistakable silhouette.

As part of the curated, simplified customer offer, every F-TYPE in the range is now offered with a model-specific 20-inch wheel as standard, with the F-TYPE 75 and R 75 distinguished by their gloss black, five-spoke- and gloss black diamond-turned 10-spoke designs respectively.

The rear haunches enhance the F-TYPE’s inherently dramatic, purposeful form and sweep downwards to the slender rear LED lights with ‘Chicane’ signature. Powertrain-specific exhaust pipes emerge from the rear diffuser, clearly signalling F-TYPE’s performance intent. Four-cylinder models feature a single, central, finisher while both the 450PS F-TYPE 75 and 575PS F-TYPE R 75 V8s are identified by quad, outboard exhausts – the latter featuring subtle etched R branding.

The F-TYPE’s driver-focussed interior is a pure expression of the car’s elegance and performance. Combining Jaguar craftsmanship, exquisite, details and rich materials and finishes deliver a heightened sense of luxury and sportiness.

The ‘1+1’ cockpit features a 12.3-inch reconfigurable Interactive Driver Display, offering a choice of display themes – as befits a true sports car, the default mode is characterised by the large central rev-counter.

This feature and the gearshift light subtly convey the F-TYPE’s character and performance potential, digitally enhancing the mechanical theatre of the pulsing red ‘heartbeat’ of the start button and the deployable centre air vents.

The F-TYPE 75 and R 75 models are distinguished by the unique silhouette motif on the Engine Spin centre console finisher and stainless-steel tread plates, while the Interior Black Pack is another subtle enhancement.

Lightweight slimline seats – in Sport or Performance designs, with the latter standard on the F-TYPE 75 and R 75 – combine an ergonomically-optimised form with outstanding comfort, further enhanced by heating and cooling options. Rich materials such as Windsor leather – standard on the special editions – add a further touch of luxury, complemented by details such as the crafted monogram stitch pattern – repeated in the door trim, with the Extended Leather Upgrade option – and Jaguar Leaper or R motifs in the headrests. An Ebony Suedecloth headliner – also standard on the F-TYPE 75 and R 75 – further enriches the interior.

    Ride and Handling

F-TYPE continues to set the benchmark for truly involving, engaging, driver-focused sports cars.  Double wishbone front- and rear suspension, meticulously tuned electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) and Torque Vectoring by Braking deliver outstanding agility and a truly connected feel. These attributes are fundamental to the car’s immediate and intuitive responses to every driver input.

The chassis of the F-TYPE 75** and R 75 is further enhanced by rear knuckles made from light, stiff aluminium die castings, which, together with larger wheel bearings deliver absolute precision control of the tyre contact patch, translating to even more connected steering feel. For the R 75, this key attribute is optimised still further thanks to revised upper ball joints which significantly increase camber and toe stiffness. Both models also feature a rear electronic active differential (EAD) to optimise traction.

The torque on-demand all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) technology – available on the F-TYPE 75** and standard on the R 75 – further enhances traction and dynamics – on all surfaces and in all weathers – while maintaining F-TYPE’s characteristic rear-wheel drive feel and handling balance.

All 300PS four-cylinder F-TYPE models use meticulously tuned monotube dampers to deliver the ride and handling attributes which give these models their unique character, while F-TYPE 75** and R 75 are equipped with Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics system with Configurable Dynamics. Using electronically controlled, continuously-variable dampers, Adaptive Dynamics optimises both low speed comfort and high speed control, while Configurable Dynamics enables the driver to tailor the settings for suspension stiffness, steering weight, throttle response and gearshifts.

Every F-TYPE in the range is equipped with distinctive 20-inch wheels. All offer a choice of one standard and three optional designs, including forged wheels for the R 75. As befits its position as the performance flagship of the F-TYPE range, the R 75 features wider, specially-developed Pirelli P Zero tyres – 265/35/ZR20 and 305/30/ZR20 front and rear respectively – to provide exceptional levels of grip.

The F-TYPE R 75 can be specified with Jaguar’s Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) braking system. Featuring 398mm and 380mm front and rear discs with six- and four-piston monobloc calipers with a distinctive yellow finish, this system delivers exceptional braking performance with outstanding fade resistance.

    Powertrain

F-TYPE’s range of powerful, responsive engines includes four- and eight-cylinder options with outputs from 300PS to 575PS – a breadth of choice unrivalled in its segment. All are paired with an eight-speed Quickshift transmission with full manual control using either the SportShift gear selector or the steering wheel-mounted paddles. All engines are made at Jaguar Land Rover’s Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK.

Exclusively rear-wheel drive, the 300PS, 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium four-cylinder engine generates maximum torque from just 1,500rpm, delivering exceptional throttle response throughout the rev range. It also provides the performance expected from F-TYPE and enables acceleration from 0-60mph in only 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

The 450PS, 5.0-litre supercharged V8 has been developed to offer exploitable, useable and rewarding performance – maximum torque of 580Nm is generated from 2,500rpm. Available in the F-TYPE 75**, this engine is offered with a choice of all-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics or – for purists – rear-wheel drive. Both feature an electronic active rear differential to optimise traction, and both enable 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 177mph.

For truly exceptional performance in all weathers and on any kind of road there is the F-TYPE R 75. Offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, its supercharged V8 delivers 575PS and a remarkable 700Nm of torque: the benchmark sprint to 60mph takes just 3.5 seconds, while maximum speed is an electronically limited 186mph.

Each engine is matched to a switchable active exhaust system as standard. The distinctive crackle and pop on the overrun synonymous with F-TYPE, remains, with sounds meticulously tuned to suit the distinctive character of each model. Highly efficient, close-coupled particulate filters help to minimise emissions.

Customers who choose a V8 benefit from the Quiet Start function, which ensures a more subtle, refined start-up sound: electrically actuated bypass valves in the rear silencer remain closed until they automatically open up under load, releasing the signature roar which has always been fundamental to the F-TYPE driving experience. If desired, Quiet Start can be over-ridden by selecting Dynamic Mode or by pressing the switchable exhaust button before starting the engine.

The first customer deliveries begin from January 2023 – the year which marks 75 years of Jaguar sports cars – and a pivotal moment in the brand’s history as it proudly moves towards an all-electric future from 2025.

The 2024 Model Year Jaguar F-TYPE range (market-dependant) is made at the Castle Bromwich plant in the UK and comprises:

    • F-TYPE R-Dynamic:   300PS Four-cylinder; rear-wheel drive
    • F-TYPE 75:                 450PS V8; rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive
    • F-TYPE R 75:             575PS V8; all-wheel drive

The F-TYPE’s four-cylinder and V8 engines are made at Jaguar Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK.

  • Jaguar XJC by Carlex Design

    Jaguar XJC by Carlex Design

The jaguar is a night predator. This quiet, roaring beauty has enough moxie to take on a croc. It is the firmest cat of the Western Hemisphere. Which car symbolises this unique beast? It is obviously the iconic Jaguar XJ, created by William Lyons, the follower of the great 240/340.

It was definitely a great challenge to amend the car’s perfect predecessor – the essence of elegance and prestige. In 1968, though, the follower was presented, which remained virtually unchanged for almost 25 years – 11 years as Mk I and Mk II, and the next 13 years after a slight makeover by Pininfarina. It was still all about the same, beautiful and slender silhouette. The car’s crowning version was the XJC – the XJ Coupé, manufactured only as Mk II from 1975 to 1978 in the quantity of almost 10,500 vehicles. A true black panther among Jaguars, made only in Coventry with its twin Daimler. It is elegant, fast and absolutely outstanding, and has always been the showcase of the brand and the object of desire of drivers, willing to sit at the steering wheel rather than on the back seat.

My name is XJ… XJ Coupé 2.0 – sounds like a perfect line introducing the 2021 XJC by Carlex Design. It’s the same character but the latest technology: the 400 HP V8 engine, the new gearbox, brakes, rims and suspension. The best genes of the Jaguar family. A smooth ride, comfort and luxury – the essence of the 21st century, topped with exotic wood, top quality leather and carefully mastered details. It will definitely meet the requirements of the most demanding fans of classic cars and… those who simply enjoy a great ride. Carbon makes the car body tougher and relatively light, and the rollbar protects the driver and the passenger and provides greater durability. The British Racing Green shade perfectly complements the car’s unique style and look. What is missing? Plastic and repeatability of most contemporary cars. It will be an exceptional Jag. The one everybody would like to have in their garage.

  • Junior Concours of Elegance returns with full force in 2021!

2021 Concours Of Elegance JuniorThe Concours d’Elegance, which gathers the world’s rarest and more bizarre vehicles, will see the return of the Junior Concours in 2021. On September 3-5, the event will welcome an array of beautiful hand-crafted half-size and three-quarter scale electric and petrol cars to sit alongside their bigger siblings.

Just like the full-size machines, the Junior Concours attendants are mostly handcrafted and will borrow the best from the world of motorsport. Audience will have the chance to witness cars like Porsche 911, Jaguar E-Type, Alfa Romeo PS Monza, and Ferrari F40.

Over the course of the event, the Works Drivers, supported by their Mechanics, will pilot their vehicles on the Concours Live Stage. Competitors will try to win a plethora of awards, some of which are ‘Best Pedal Car’, ‘Best Electric Car’, ‘Best Petrol Car’, ‘Most Original Car’ and ‘Best Dressed’.

Andrew Evans, Concours of Elegance Director, said: The Junior Concours was such a success last year, that we’ve decided to bring it back for 2021. This feature really shines a light on the fascinating world of bespoke built children’s cars, popularised by the Austin J40 of which almost 32,000 were built from 1950. This year, as we did last year, we have gathered together a wonderful collection of handbuilt cars of all ages, complete with working headlamps, innovative powertrains, and a near-perfect likeness to the full-size models they seek to imitate. With the support of their drivers and mechanics, the Junior Concours will be as much of a spectacle as any of our other priceless displays.

The E-Type made its world debut in Geneva on the 15th of March, 1961. The vehicle became so popular that the team was forced to rush a second E-Type, a roadster that also achieved overnight success.

Some 60 years later, the E-Type 60 Collection pays tribute to these two legendary vehicles and can only be purchased in a pair – one E-Type 60 Edition coupe and one E-Type 60 Edition roadster. Both machines are finished in exclusive Flat Out Grey and Drop Everything Green. These colour schemes are inspired by the original 1961 colors and won’t be used on any other Jaguar vehicle.

As expected, the vehicles also include a range of special E-Type 60 components to enhance the exclusivity of the project. Such are the five-speed manual gearbox and enhanced engine cooling capabilities. There are also Jaguar Classic Infotainment System with built-in satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

    Drivetrain system

The engine is a 265hp 3.8-litre six-cylinder that works in conjunction with a 1961-style alloy radiator, and a polished stainless steel exhaust system. In fact, this new system is absolutely identical to the standard mild steel system but provides a deeper tone and greater longevity.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé – the first all-electric Jaguar sports car created for the globally-renowned Gran Turismo series revealed in October 2019 – has already proved highly successful, attracting gamers with its radical, heritage-inspired design, driver-focused interior, and outstanding ride and handling.

Yet to the team from Jaguar Design, SV and Jaguar Racing, the Vision GT Coupé represented only the starting point for development of the Vision GT SV. It was an opportunity to re-evaluate everything that could improve performance and in doing so, re-think what an electric Jaguar endurance race car could be.

Fundamental to that process was detailed analysis of gamer feedback from online videos and forums. This ‘virtual world testing’ combined with many hours ‘behind the wheel’ enabled the design and engineering teams to determine exactly how to optimise the Vision GT SV to create the perfect electric gaming endurance race car.

Julian Thomson, Design Director, Jaguar, said: “Jaguars created for the race track and the road have always shared the same DNA – whether that’s the D-type and XKSS, or the I-PACE and the I-TYPE. So, when the design team behind the Vision GT Coupé were asked to create the ultimate electric gaming endurance racer for Gran Turismo, they worked with engineers from SV and Jaguar Racing to create something really special.

“The Vision GT SV is a dramatic and visually arresting car which showcases what’s possible when the traditional boundaries governing real-world car design are completely removed. In bringing this car to life with a full-size design study we’ve been able to showcase the most extreme version of an electric Jaguar race car that is inspired by the past but looks fearlessly to the future.”

Designed as the ultimate virtual endurance racer, the Jaguar Vision GT SV pays homage to its illustrious forebears not only in a host of styling and surfacing references but in its unique circuit board livery which nods to milestones such as the Le Mans debuts of the C-type and D-type in 1951 and 1954 respectively.

    Engineered by experts:

The streamlined, lightweight composite body structure now houses four Jaguar Racing and SV-designed electric motors to the Coupé’s three, generating a combined output of 1,903PS (1,400kW) and 3,360Nm of instant torque with the traction and dynamics benefits of intelligent all-wheel drive and torque vectoring. Acceleration from 0-60mph takes just 1.65 seconds, on the way to a maximum speed of 255mph.

The task of harnessing the Gran Turismo SV’s power to deliver an even more exhilarating racing experience for gamers fell to Jaguar’s SV engineering team.

Jamal Hameedi, Engineering Director, Jaguar SV, said: “We were given one objective: take everything that makes the Jaguar Vision GT Coupé so special – the performance, the handling and the soundtrack – and take it to another level.

“The team didn’t just achieve that target – they exceeded it, developing a virtual electric car which really could compete successfully in the extremes of 24-hour endurance racing. Not only that, they were able to see their work in the virtual world, turned into reality with the production of the stunning full-scale model which will no doubt excite gamers about what’s to come in Gran Turismo.”

The Vision GT Coupé’s elegant silhouette is still clearly recognisable in the GT SV, including the curvature of the C-type and D-type-inspired fenders, and – even with the additional motor driving the front axle – the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,721mm.

Measuring 5,540mm from nose to tail, the GT SV is 861mm longer overall – a change driven entirely by aerodynamics. To deliver the increased downforce needed for greater traction for faster cornering and increased high speed stability on long straights, the GT SV has a new front splitter and a new deployable rear wing.

To solve the often conflicting requirements of increasing downforce while also minimising drag, the SV team worked with Jaguar’s designers to develop a full suite of features which work together to improve dynamics, stability, performance and efficiency.

In addition to the larger, more effective splitter – which produces downforce over the front axle – apertures in the front valance channel air across the face of the front wheels to reduce turbulence and help air to flow cleanly towards the rear of the car. Air passing through the wheel wells is also smoothed towards the rear via exit vents in the fenders.

The completely enclosed, sculpted underbody – which includes a keel element behind the front axle to aid high-speed stability – accelerates airflow, reducing its pressure and therefore helping to reduce lift, before it exits at the rear via a large venturi.

The single most effective aero feature developed for the GT SV is its deployable rear wing, inspired by endurance racing cars from Jaguar’s rich lineage, including the XJR-14. Meticulously developed from concept to final design through many iterations, the wing’s main, fixed, section wraps over and around the back of the car, blending smoothly into the rear haunches.

The wing is designed as an integral element of the sculpted bodywork while also providing the aerodynamic performance required for endurance racing: two moveable sections automatically rise at speed to deliver extra downforce when needed but drop back to their nominal positions to minimise drag.

As a result, the GT SV has a drag coefficient of Cd 0.398 – remarkably low for a race car – but also generates 483kg of downforce at 200mph.

Micheal O’Regan, Aerodynamics Senior Engineer, Jaguar SV, said: “All the aerodynamic features have been painstakingly optimised through cutting-edge computational fluid dynamics analysis – in exactly the same way we do with real-world projects such as the Jaguar I-TYPE Formula E race cars.

“What I’m most proud of is how we’ve developed the GT SV into a credible electric race car with performance on a par with current endurance race cars – and in such a short space of time.”

    Electrifying performance:

Jaguar Racing engineers developed the GT SV’s extraordinary quad-motor all-electric propulsion system. They also designed the system for the first Jaguar Vision GT car, applying all of their knowledge and experience from developing the Jaguar I-TYPE over six successive seasons.

The work was split into two main projects: A second 407PS (300kW) motor to the front axle to deliver the higher power and torque ratings required. Then the thermal management system was further improved to cope with the higher loads and to ensure that sustained high speeds and extreme acceleration could be maintained throughout an endurance race.

With one motor driving each wheel, the GT SV’s propulsion system generates a combined output of 1,903PS (1,400kW) and 3,360Nm torque. Each motor has its own single-speed transmission: these are designed to give the strength and robustness needed for the high torque ratings, together with minimal mass and friction for optimum efficiency, and the capability to deliver the car’s 255mph top speed.

As well as electric all-wheel drive the one motor per wheel configuration also enables infinite control of lateral and longitudinal torque distribution, delivering a step-change in torque vectoring capability for even greater traction, agility, and control.

Power comes from a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack which is housed low down in the GT SV’s light, stiff body structure, delivering a low centre of gravity, a low roll centre and near-perfect weight distribution.

James Barclay, Team Director, Jaguar Racing, said: “Working on the development of Jaguar’s Formula E I-TYPE race cars in parallel with the Vision Gran Turismo SV has given the Jaguar Racing engineers an unprecedented opportunity to apply their expertise to two incredible electric race cars – our most advanced Formula E car yet, and an endurance racer for the virtual world.

“Both have been designed and developed using state-of-the-art simulation tools to push all-electric powertrain and software technology to the limit, and we can’t wait to see them perform in Season 7 and Gran Turismo.”

The thermal management system is enhanced by an additional liquid nitrogen circuit which provides extra capacity to enable the battery to provide maximum power for longer while remaining within its ideal temperature range. The nitrogen cooling is also linked to the boost button within the cabin to ensure that even during the most demanding operating conditions the battery will not exceed its upper temperature limit.

    The ultimate virtual driving experience:

The unique, powertrain soundscape so fundamental to the visceral driving experience of the Jaguar Vision GT Coupé has been further enhanced for the GT SV version. Reflecting the increase in power and torque from the four electric motors to its precursor’s three, the GT SV generates a sound that is even more purposeful and distinctive, and is authentically yet futuristically Jaguar. Building to a crescendo at the 40,000rpm redline, it reflects the GT SV’s true racing DNA and delivers unrivalled driver reward.

The experience is heightened by an interior designed for racing. The pure, sweeping surfaces within the cockpit truly envelop the driver and position the instruments and perfectly weighted controls exactly where they need to be. Every component is beautifully crafted with absolute precision from advanced lightweight materials, including the new TYPEFIBRE fabrics used to cover the two sculpted composite seats. TYPEFIBRE is an innovative system of performance materials being developed by Jaguar to deliver a lighter alternative to leather with outstanding comfort and durability. TYPEFIBRE fabrics will be tested by Jaguar Racing in the I-TYPE 5 during season 7 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
