  • Toyota Develops the Next Generation of Navigation Systems

Toyota Next-Gen MapsToyota is working on a new-gen system for creating high-quality and high-accuracy maps to help drivers find the optimal and safest roads to their destination. The technology will use data from on-board cameras and GPS gadgets and will be showcased at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas 6-9 January.

The advanced system will use special production vehicle equipment to proceed data and information about the road conditions and will further choose the right track in every situation. Furthermore, this system will work with advanced software, due to the importance of accurate understanding of road layouts and traffic restrictions.

    Toyota Next-Gen Maps

One of the major downsides of the new approach for software mapping is that it can easily make mistakes: the more the systems rely on cameras and GPS the bigger the chance of misleading information. However, the engineering team have a plan how to limit the mistakes to the minimum: their idea is to obtain the same information from numerous devices and make some relatively precise calculations and reduce the different content to zero.

Further plans include incorporating this system to core models and massive production vehicles by 2020. And even further in the future plans include expanding the functionality and efficiency of such systems.

  • Who Said TOM’s Racing Toyota Prius Isn’t Good Enough?

TOM’s Racing Toyota Prius Front ViewTOM’s Racing latest addition in the range of modified vehicles has been rolling around the internet for some time with statements of unnecessary tuning and whatsoever. However, it seems that you guys love this tuning and we were obliged to give our thoughts on it. So let’s see is this aero kit bad or good for the Prius.

At first it seems absolutely strange to enhance a car like Prius with aero components, being a not very powerful hybrid car. However, we shouldn’t step over those of you who are a little bit more eco minded and still speed-inspired. So this aero program is perfect for you.

SEE ALSO: Small in Size, Big in Capabilities: 2016 Toyota Prius is Here!

What does TOM’s Racing body kit feature? The answer hides in the extensive updates found all over the body of the car. At the front for instance we see a brand new bumper that features black elements surrounding the new DLRs and making the front fascia a little bit more aggressive.

TOM’s Racing Toyota Prius Rear View

The front is also characterized by custom front lip spoiler, while the sides – by extended skirts that pass by large multispoke alloy wheels, measuring at least 19-inches. The suspension is also new and it brings the car a little bit lower to the ground.

The aero changes at the rear are also to be mentioned. They comprise of a new bumper, competitive diffuser and four tailpipes that give an impression of a really powerful engine under the hood of the Prius. Unfortunately, this isn’t true because the experts at TOM’s Racing didn’t speak of any applied changes to the hybrid powertrain. So we have to deal with the standard 121 hp (89 kW). We are definitely looking forward to reading your opinion in the comment section below.

    Engines

  • Toyota Unveils Noah G and Voxy G Concept Sporty Vans!

2015 Toyota Noah G ConpcetToyota has unveiled the sweet Noah G’s and VoxyG’s concept vehicles. The “souped-up minivans” proudly demonstrate straight and clean lines, aggressive stance and overall distinctive appearance. Surely, the additional body kit additions further contribute to that contemporary design with the mesh grille details, red brake calipers and alloy wheels. And with the ventilated hood, carbon-fiber plastic canards and big rear wing these sweeties do stand out from the crowd.

Definitely an interesting decision, provided that this is a minivan with sporty spirit and aggressive appearance. But this doesn’t mean that the sporty vans do suffer from lack of comfort. Toyota team claims just the opposite: in their words these two sweeties offer comfortable and refined ride. We all wonder if this is fully correct.

Both vehicles are geared with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol power unit that provides a total of 150hp (112kW) of power output  and 193Nm of torque. There is also a exclusive hybrid model that offers the aid of a 1.8-liter unit that produces 97hp (73kW) and 142Nm of torque.

  • This Toyota Sienna R-Tuned Concept Outpaces the Camaro SS?

Toyota Sienna R-Tuned Concept Front ViewBelieve it or not, this Toyota Sienna R-Tuned Concept equipped with its stock engine and transmission can outpace the powerful Camaro SS. The minivan was specifically modified for the SEMA Show in order to attract the public with its almost unbelievable capabilities. But who needs to turn a Sienna minivan into a performance vehicle? The answer: Toyota Technical Center and the specialists at championship-winning performance shop DG-Spec.

If you wonder about the reason for the creation of this strange project, well it was the challenge. The challenge to do the unexpected. It seems far easier to make an LFA supercar go fast around a racetrack, but no one expects to see a Sienna coming.

SEE ALSO: Toyota Back to the Future Mirai Concept or Who Brought the Outdated Gullwings Back?

Both parties have modified the stock Sienna SE “Swagger Wagon” and made it look and perform bad-ass crazy! They have added brand new performance tires, wheels, brakes, double-adjustable shocks with racing springs, and a clutch-type limited-slip differential. These additional parts deliver radically enhanced performance of the vehicle.

Toyota Sienna R-Tuned Concept and Drivers

And can you believe that as a result, the concept, powered by its serial 3.5-liter V6 engine mated with a six-speed automatic, outpaces even the 6.2-liter V8 Camaro SS on the test track? A strong proof is that at the Streets of Willow Springs the concept turned a blistering 1:27 lap time, sailing past the 6.2-liter V8 Camaro by a full second around the 1.7-mile sports car course.
What is more, the Sienna R-Tuned can not only be driven by a professional driver. Casual drivers also tested the car and they were truly surprised at how easy it is to drive. In fact, people felt more confident and more in control behind the steering wheel.

If this seems intriguing to you, then you can see the Sienna R-Tuned concept at the SEMA show until tomorrow. Toyota’s booth is #24700 and it is located in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

  • Toyota Back to the Future Mirai Concept or Who Brought the Outdated Gullwings Back?

Toyota Back to the Future Mirai Front and Side ViewToyota Back to the Future Mirai is one of the cars exhibited at Toyota’s booth at the SEMA Show this week. Surprisingly enough, the car is called “Back to the Future” as a part of the Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Trilogy, and this obviously equals removing the four doors and adding gullwings. Considering they are definitely out of date, as modern and cool as they might look to some, this car (in my opinion) will never see anything but the red carpet on special events like this… No, not even in the near future.

In fact, this vehicle ‘looks ready for the fourth dimension’, but if we were still living in the 80s. But if you are fan of the series (not like me unfortunately), then you should definitely go and see the Back to the Future-inspired Mirai.

SEE ALSO: Toyota Celebrates a Special Anniversary with a Special Concept

Toyota Back to the Future Mirai Gullwings Opened Rear View

Despite the outdated and erroneous gullwings, this redesigned SEMA-bound Mirai has some advantageous features. First, I have to mention that the car is reworked by the specialists at MV Designz, who helped Toyota re-desing Doc Brown’s time machine.

So what’s in this Mirai “time machine”? It includes a list of modifications that need to be addressed. Besides the conversion of the body style (from four-door to two-door), the car is defined by 19-inch custom “Infinity” LED wheels and tires, that look pretty good in the dark. By the way, there is a blue LED lightning added throughout the entire vehicle.

What is more, MV Designz decided to equip the hybrid with custom air-ride suspension and applied brushed-aluminum paint scheme to the exterior. Other cool things about this Mirai concept feature heads-up destination clock display, integrated tablet replacing original equipment head unit as well as flux capacitor housed in a custom center console.

Well, it seems not that bad after all… Or wait a minute! Aren’t these gullwings entirely inappropriate?
