The one and only purpose of the BRZ is to bring driving pleasure, that’s why the manufacturer has created a light car with an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering. • 2013 Subaru Stella Facelift for Japan

Subaru has announced the new 2013 Stella specially created for Japan domestic market. This is the second generation of the Stella, which was introduced in May last year, but the manufacturer already has prepared an updated version of the small vehicle.

2013 Stella is based on 5th generation Daihatsu Move. The car has the same dimensions as before – 3395 mm length, 1475 mm width, 1620mm height and a 2455 mm wheelbase. The curb weight is 810 kg (1785 lbs) for the base level and up to 890 kg (1962 lbs) for top specs.

The small car is powered by a tiny engine – 0.66 liter three-cylinder petrol available in naturally-aspirated or turbocharged versions. Both have 64HP (48 kW) of power, but the turbocharged model reaches full power at 6,000 RPM while the regular version reaches it at 7,200 RPM.

The front suspension is MacPherson strut and a rear torsion bar. This guarantees good comfort as well as the standard extras – stop/start system and ventilated front discs. Other interesting upgrades are restyled front fascia and obstacle detection system, which is available as an option.

  • 2013 Subaru Forester – Crash Test [video]

The new generation of Subaru Forester will hit the market, next year. The cross-over has been awarded the highest five-star rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme for its safety performance.

“This is a strong result for a model that has consistently been one of our best-sellers, and the all-new Forester’s active, passive and hazard avoidance technologies will make it one of the safest cars on and off the road.  That the new model will be more practical, more economical and more refined than its predecessor only adds further to its appeal.”, said Haydn Davies, Marketing Director, Subaru UK.

The 2013 Forester managed to score high results in all four areas – Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Pedestrian Protection and Safety Assist. This happens thanks to Subaru’s unique ring-shaped reinforcement frame body and the extensive use of high-tensile steel.

Subaru’s unique permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system remains at the heart of the vehicle; paired with Vehicle Dynamics Control, the Japanese brand’s electronic stability control system, this contributed to a high Safety Assist score from Euro NCAP.

The 4th-generation Forester builds upon the outgoing model’s credentials as a user-friendly compact SUV, with improved performance, safety and efficiency and a larger, more practical cabin.

A low centre of gravity and improved body rigidity – the result of Subaru’s hallmark Boxer engines and the use of high-tensile steels respectively – contribute to improved refinement and fun-to-drive characteristics.

  • 2012 Subaru XV – “SUV of the Year”

The new 2012 Subaru XV is winner in one of the hardest-fought categories in a special ‘4×4 of the Year’ issue.  The SUV market has expanded rapidly in recent years with the proliferation of compact crossovers, and 4×4 Magazine placed Subaru’s latest All-Wheel Drive model ahead of key rivals from Audi, Kia, Mazda, Nissan and Volkswagen.

The Subaru XV range starts at £21,295 on the road and is available with 1.6 petrol manual or CVT, 2.0 petrol manual or CVT and 2.0D manual options.

“The SUV class in 4×4 Magazine’s 4×4 of the Year test is one of the most competitive.  The Subaru XV was an interesting new arrival in that class, which did much to impress judges.”, commented Nigel Fryatt, Editor, 4×4 Magazine.

“For a vehicle which obviously spends most of its time on-road, it is such an enjoyable drive, involving the driver in a positive manner.  It also boasts promising fuel economy potential.  When we took it off-road, given the obvious limitations of ground clearance, the Subaru completed our test route with ease.  But what clinched it for the XV was Subaru’s Everything Taken Care of customer service package, which has to be one of the best around.”, he finished.
