The first thing you see here is the elaborate multi-colored wrap design scheme. Through a skilful use of foil, the team created a masterpiece from matt red and satin black surfaces with golden borders. Have you spotted that even the black wheels were given motifs of color? Precisely, the five double spokes of the front wheels are foiled in red, while one spoke on each of its rear counterparts was foiled in gold.

  • Vorsteiner Releases GT4-V Aero Kit for Porsche Cayman & Boxster

2016 Vorsteiner Porsche GT4 front view Meet Vorsteiner’s Porsche GT4! We have featured abundant gallery below, which shows exclusive photos of the project and plenty of images. The tuned vehicle below is actually the newest 981 Porsche Cayman GT4, which has been fitted with the GT4-V carbon fiber program that was specifically created for it… Well, and for the Boxster, after Porsche announced and released the changes regarding those models.

Speaking of the update, the current tuning program does not concern the engine or its output in some way. It is only cosmetic, which aids the aerodynamics. Back in March last year we understood that the (current for now) Boxster and Cayman GTS range will be powered by a 3.4 liter flat-six engine. The unit produces 330hp (243 kW) for the Boxster and 340 (250 kW) for the Cayman. The torque is 370Nm (273 lb-ft) and 380Nm (280 lb-ft), respectively. In addition, both cars got the Chrono package as a standard.

     Vorsteiner Porsche GT4 Rear View

With these outputs the cars are capable to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds for the Boxster, and 4.6 seconds for the Cayman, while their top speeds are of 281 km/h (175 mph) and 285 km/h (177 mph), respectively. After the aero program we do expect the acceleration times to be even faster, although we didn’t receive any confirmation for that from Vorsteiner.

Speaking of the aero program, called GT4-V, it comprises from a front spoiler, side blades and rear diffuser. Pushing the boundaries of art and technology, Vorsteiner continues to impress with exclusive projects like this. By the way, the material the tuner uses in its creations is in-house made and it is autoclaved pre-impregnated carbon fiber. Vorsteiner promises that this lightweight material actually delivers superior stiffness, aerospace strength and durability compared to traditional hand laid carbon fiber composites.

  • Kaege’s Porsche 911 F-Series is an Evergreen Classic Based on the 993 Model

Kaege Porsche 911 Evergreen Front View1972 Porsche 911 F-series is one of those automobiles we only get to see on the TV screen. Unfortunately we rarely encounter the beauty of these automobiles. As a person who is keen on dramatic and exclusive old cars like this one, the project done by Kaege is feasting my senses. I hope it does to yours the same, because it is based exactly on this “car-rarity”… or at least it looks so.

Here is the little secret of this Porsche: it is actually built upon the advanced air-cooled series 993, and then modified to mimic the 911 F-series model. Nevertheless, the entire equipment of the 993, such as air conditioning, six speed gear, brake system, multi-link rear suspension, airbag, wipers, etc., remain unchanged.

SEE ALSO: Kaege Changes Porsche 997 GT3 Clubsport

Kaege Porsche 911 Evergreen Rear View

The major modifications are featured on the outside with the addition of carbon fiber elements for the body. The tuning company made its own Backdate design, with the stops pulled out of car’s body, in order to correspond to the visual appearance of the shape of the F-series model. The car is driven by the air-cooled 3.6 liters engine, which produces 300 HP. The total weight of model is 1,195 kg and this is attributed to the lithium battery.

The headlights were changed with Osram LED technology in classic design. Another difference form the original outlook makes the new three-part rims in Fuchs design with correspondent tires and KW coilovers.

On the inside, the changes made keep the classic 70s design of the car… well there’s a little contemporary flavor added with the Becker navigation and the Recaro seats. And if you are somewhere near Stuttgart, you will have the chance of seeing the car at the Retro Classic that starts tomorrow.

  • Supercar Hybrid Technology found in Porsche 918 and BMW i8 to be Available to Mass Market

BMW i8sGKN Driveline will be responsible for bringing the hybrid technology from cars such like the Porsche 918 Spyder and BMW i8 into affordable compact vehicles, and this announcement fires up an excitement in us. The reason for this important and future changing step is that the company has developed an eAxle module, which will help C-segment cars to be produced as plug-in hybrids, thus offering improved performance and CO2 reduction. And this of more than 50%.

The vision of GKN is to make the eAxle technology and thus the plug-in hybrids a simple upgrade for consumers and manufacturers. This was inspired by the success of company’s systems included in the hybrid sports car programmes and premium SUVs. And now it is time to launch the eAxle technology in a much broader range of vehicles.

SEE ALSO: BMW to Produce Limited Series of i8 Protonic Red Edition

The eAxle is an upgraded variant of the system GKN designed for the Porsche 918 Spyder. With its single-speed design, the powertrain has minimized weight to just 20.9kg but at the same time this improves efficiency, installation space and costs. In addition, there is also a two-staged geartrain with a gear ratio of 12.5, which delivers up to 200Nm torque and 65kW power. All of this is available in all electric mode. In addition, the electromechanically actuated dog clutch disconnects the electric motor at higher vehicle speeds, while an open coupling minimizes rotating losses when not operating. Noise emissions are minimal due to the precise engineering of the gear teeth.

    GKN Powertrain

Let’s make a comparison. If we have a typical C-segment plug-in hybrid, it would probably produce around 100kW. But if it were equipped with the GKN eAxle, it could have additional 65kW of electrical power. Furthermore, the Axle improves the 0-100kph acceleration times by several seconds, and at the same time provides CO2 emission rating to less than 50g/km.

If the hybrids are with front-wheel drive platform, then they ca integrate GKN’s compact, lightweight single-speed eAxle modules into the vehicle’s rear assembly. In this way they will provide a combination of plug-in hybrid and electric all-wheel drive functionalities.

And this makes us excited; because we are all striving that our planet is a better and cleaner place.

  • Agile and Powerful, 911 R Brings Refined Driving Dynamics and Tons of Enhancements

2016 Porsche 911 R2016 Porsche 911 R, unveiled today at the Geneva Show demonstrates a well-known formula, blended with contemporary approach towards premium feel and refined performance. With a total of 500hp (368kW) via 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six power unit, paired to a six-speed manual transmission, the latest 911 family member has a lot to demonstrate. Let’s check it out!

The first thing that impressed us about the vehicle is its acceleration and performance rates: from standing start this beauty completes the 0-100km/h (62mph) run in 3.7 seconds and thanks to the smooth and fast gearshifts, along with the special body construction 911 R has the potential to reach a top speed of 323km/h (201mph)  and offers a combined fuel consumption of 21.2 mpg.

    Exterior and interior styling

At first sight, the body reminds of the Carrera, while the nose and tear body are similar to the 911 GT3. Also, the whole body construction, along with the drivetrain system are based on the 911 GT3 RS. So, is there something unique and special about the new 911 R?

Honestly, the design of this one is based on different Porsche vehicles and is not that appealing or distinctive. Staying in close relation with the original 911 GT3, this one also shows different rear wing and reatatchable rear spoiler with some aerodynamic improvements.  Furthermore, the front and rear apron also come from the 911 GT3, but the different here is the restyled spoiler lip and the sport exhaust system with titanium components. Sweet.

    2016 Porsche 911 R

On the other side, the interior offers carbon-fiber bucket seats, trimmed with special fabric center panels in Pepita tartan design, resembling the classic 911 models from the 1960s. Furthermore, there is a special R-specific 360mm diameter GT sports steering wheel and short shift gearlever and of course, clutch pedal in the footwell. There are also special carbon trim strips in the interior with embedded aluminum badge on the passenger’s side to indicate the number of each 911 R. Why is that you may ask? Well…the thing is that this is a limited run of just 991 units, so if you are interested in buying one, you’d better hurry up.

    Drivetrain system

Also, the advanced Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are also part of the standard equipment. The disks measure 410mm in diameter on the front axle and 390mm at the rear.

    2016 Porsche 911 R

We mentioned the lightweight construction. The overall weight of the vehicle is 1,370kg, which means that the team managed to remove additional 50 kilograms. The bonnet and front wheel-arches are now completely made of carbon-fiber, while the roof is made of magnesium and reduces the center of gravity. Some additional weight savings have been made by redesigning the cabin and the omission of rear bench seats.

  • Meet Kaege Porsche GT3 RS: Lighter and More Powerful

Kaege Porsche GT3 RS Front ViewOne has to be very brave to make any kind of tuning on a Porsche, especially a GT3 RS. This however, didn’t scare the specialists at KAEGE Automobiles, who stepped in when it came to the conversion of this particular model. The main changes are in the engine, there is also a lot of weight optimization done as well as some exterior and interior cosmetic tweaks.

    Optimization of Horsepower and Weight

To start with the performance boost, we should first tell you that the stock 3.6 liters engine of the Porsche GT3 RS produces no less than 415 HP (305 kW). First, the experts added club sports packet, and then the additional optimization required an installation of M+M muffler system with fan type exhaust manifold and 200 cells cats. The result is an addition of 8 HP and weight reduction by 7 kg.

SEE ALSO: Kaege Reinterprets the Porsche Macan S [VIDEO]

This also affects the sound sent into the surroundings, which is now exceptional. An extra 7 HP is ‘received” due to the carbon fiber air box, which ensures higher air inlet. Furthermore, the weight distribution from rear to front was optimized due to the substitution of the hydraulic pump with an electrical power steering pump. This adds 10 HP.

Modified air filters and the Sachs sports clutch lighten the weight of the Porsche additionally. Shortening the distance from the steering wheel to the gearshift also shortens the shift time and this is due to the remodeling of the standard gear shift to CAE-Shifter.

    Kaege Porsche GT3 RS Engine

    Suspension

This project seems to be pretty special, since it rides on in-house made BBS racing sports rims measuring 19-inch. They reduce the unsprung masses by 9 kg additionally, but lend also the desired racing look. The new wheels are matched Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 type tires with typical for Porsche N-code. An adapted aluminum made triple KW competition chassis with completely uniball suspended transverse control arms and track rods ensure the excellent road holding.

The weight reduction proceeds with 15 kg due to the installation of a Liteblox lithium ions battery, and with 20 kg via the demounting the navi device and by modifying the impact protection.

    Sportier Interior

    Kaege Porsche GT3 RS Interior

The interior changes feature retro-style checkered fabric upholstery for the light construction seats. Moreover, the center console, the rollover bar and some of the interior parts are painted in car color, while the steering wheel has been taken from the 4-liters GT3 and the trunk’s appearance has been changed.

And last, but not least, for more comfortable and joyous journey the tuning experts have added a travel and helmet bag matching to the seat upholstery… just like Vilner started adding such goodies to their conversions years ago.

Besides their new name, they seem to be more powerful and more beautifully looking than ever before! Porsche has proudly announced that they have gained more than 35 horsepower and up to 36 percent more torque! The fuel economy improvements are of up to 14 per cent; the cars also feature revised exterior, updated brakes and suspension and more advanced technology.

With the change in the name (the number 718), Porsche pays tribute to the flat-four cylinder engines that were used in the mid-engine Porsche 718 sports car. The latter was a price winner and received many accolades in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

SEE ALSO: Porsche Revives the Legendary 718 via Exclusive Video

So at the heart of the model, there is the newly developed, turbocharged flat four-cylinder engine. Depending on the variant it is with different displacement. Here are all details you need to know about 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S.

    The Flat-Four Cylinder Engines

    • 718 Boxster

The 718 Boxster is driven by the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, which produces 300 hp (220 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque, available from 1,950 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Significant gains in acceleration are due to these changes: the 0-90 mph sprint now happens in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster than the previous model. The top speed is limited at 170 miles per hour, which happens to be 8 miles per hour faster than before.

    • 718 Boxster S

2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S is equipped with the 2.5-litre engine, which generates 350 hp (257 kW), and its greater power is boosted by the utilization of a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. In terms of Newton meters, this car develops 419 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque 1,900 rpm to 4,500 rpm. This means that the Boxster S is capable of reaching 60 mph 4.0 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds faster than its predecessor. Another difference is that top speed of the 718 Boxster S is 177 miles per hour – 5 miles per hour faster than previously.

Both models come with standard six-speed manual transmission, while the fuel-saving Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is offered as an option.

Sharper Exterior Design But Minor Changes Inside

The sides of the models include new style for the wings and side sills, larger air inlet panels with two fins, and the doors come without door handle recess covers. More prominently however stand out the 19-inch wheels on the 718 Boxster S.

The back of the 718 Boxsters highlights the new width, dude to the strip with integrated Porsche badge between the taillights. Speaking of which, they feature three-dimensional LED technology and four-point brake lights.

Unfortunately, the interior hasn’t been changed so much. There are minor updates on the elements of the instrument panel. The biggest benefit of the cabin is that tit now features Porsche Communication Management (PCM) as a standard. PCM includes cell phone preparation, audio interfaces and the 110 watt Sound Package Plus. Optionally, the system can be improved with a navigation module including voice control, or a Connect Plus module featuring extension of the navigation module.

    Greater Agility

2017 Porsche 718 Boxster Rear view

Greater agility means sportier suspension tuning and calibration. In fact, 718 Boxster’s suspension was entirely retuned and as a result it delivers better cornering performance. In addition, the electric steering system is 10% more direct than previously, thus increasing agility, precision and maneuverability.

Options for 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S

    • PASM

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) comes as an option here. It includes a ten millimeter lower ride height, and for the 718 Boxster S the millimeters are 20. What is more, the retuned active suspension, delivers an even broader spread between long-distance touring comfort and dynamic responsiveness.
