  • Germany’s Wagenbauanstalt studio presents a new tuning project! Check it out!

2018 Wagenbauanstalt Porsche 911 TurboThere are numerous tuning studios in Germany, but today we will be talking about a particular one – Wagenbauanstalt. Although it is not that popular and known, the crew can show off with numerous tuning projects that catch the eye with both styling customization and advanced engineering solutions.

One of Wagenbauantsalt highlights is a refined Porsche 911 Turbo from 1993. What the team did is to remove wheel arches, doors, fenders, side panels and rear wing and replace them with exclusive hand-made substitutes. Furthermore, the rims are also custom-made from Wheel-Tex 24. However, the most fascinating feature in the whole project is the fact that Wagenbauanstalt has managed to maintain this pure and authentic retro Porsche expression and just to build up from this glorious foundation.

In fact, the retro styling was obtained from Kaege program – by installing Candy-Fade-Away coat coverage, hand-polished cup style rollover cage, 1940s Lincoln door openers/handles and hand-polished decorations in Candy gold.

  • Porsche 935 makes it global debut. It is sexy and menacing, check it out!

2019 Porsche 935Porsche unveiled its new 935 race car at the Rennsport Reunion VI event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California. Revealing influences from the legendary 935/78, the new 700hp machine will be produced in a limited run of mere 77 units. So, let’s check out more, shall we?

As always, we see a sexy and muscular silhouette with all these well-known Porsche design signatures. Based on the street-legal 911 GT2 RS, the new 935 includes numerous carbon-fiber components and many next-gen technologies and engineering solutions. And with its enlongated shape, massive fairings and white base color, 935 instantly catches the eye.

In terms of exterior styling and expression, the spectacular vehicle relies on distinctive wheel arch air vents on the front fenders, aerodynamically enhanced rims that resemble these of the 935/78, while the LED rear lights on the rear wing adopts the essence of 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car. At the same time the side mirrors resemble those of the Le Mans winner 911 RSR and the exposed titanium tailpipes are taken from the 901 model from 1968.

    2019 Porsche 935

All these influences and references are also visible in the cabin. For example, the knob on the gearshift lever is covered with laminated wood design and is reminiscent of the historic Porsche race cars as 917 and 909 Bergspyder. Although incorporating contemporary technology and including numerous carbon-fiber components, the design team has achieved neat blend between vintage and modern. Furthermore, the display behind the carbon fiber steering wheel is taken from the 2019 911 GT3 R and the rest of the cabin is dominated by good ol’ racing bucket seat and safety cage. As they used to do in the old days.

In terms of drivetrain system, 935 is powered by a heavily revised 3.8-liter flat-six-twin-turbo engine, mated to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung dual-clutch transmission with rigid mount. And just as some production models, there are shift paddles on the back on the steering wheel that enhance shift speeds and smoothness of driving. Furthermore, the sports car features six-piston aluminum monoblock racing calipers on the front axle with internally ventilated 390-mm iron brake discs. Neat!

  • A special tuning project revives an old Porsche Speedster. Check it out!

2018 DM Motorsport Porsche 911 SpeedsterDP Motorsport team has received a rather curious task to refresh and fine-tune a special Porsche model. A Berlin-based client has refurbished a 356 C-Convertible mainly by himself and now seeks ways of making the vehicle look more vintage. In fact, this speedster has already undergone a Phase 1 in such process: back in 1989 the vehicle was still a 911 Tagra 3.2 convertible, but after meticulous work, it became an agile Speedster in the 90’s.

2018 DM Motorsport Porsche 911 Speedster

Now DP Motorsport team has decided to execute Phase 2 – upgrading the vehicle by applying the F-Model-Body kits dp11F Carrera-Widebody. Of course, this is just a single piece from the whole tuning adventure. The team has managed to widen the wheel housing with an inch and has slightly lowered the front bumper. Furthermore, the side sills now cover the oil pipes and contribute to more attractive trim. And the coolest thing of all is that the 2-pipe rear mufflers are revised and modified in order to match the design concept. Sweet!

As it seems, Phase 2 has finished and it is time for the next step: Phase 3. DP Motorsport team has planned it for next winter when there would be adjusted height, compression and rebound. And this will be the phase in which the team would be dealing with drivetrain system. It is scheduled to upgrade the 218hp power engine with using Shick-camshafts, bigger throttle valve and special wheels and tires. Stick with us for further information!

  • LARTE Design’s depiction of a Porsche Macan SUV: masterfully executed

2017 LARTE Design Porsche Macan Okay, we admit it: LARTE Design remains one of our favorite tuners. We have tons of reasons to place it in our top 5 ranking, but as it comes to this review, we will be sticking to one particular perk: all LARTE Design projects are simply beautiful. Of course, they are also functional, advanced and luxurious, but we said that we will keep it simple.

What we are recently given to enjoy is a refined Posche Macan unit. Although all Porsche vehicles are advanced and of high quality, there is always a way to make them even more luxurious.

    2017 LARTE Design Porsche Macan

For this particular project, the design team has included new exclusive body kit with full-fledged design bumpers and numerous carbon-fiber components. Lightweight and expressive, these components add to the overall sporty spirit of the vehicle. My favorite remains the carbon-fiber rear wing. In my view, it completely resembles the desire of both Porsche and LARTE Design stylists: it is elegant, discrete and yet showcases that it is there in order to restrain the massive power of the vehicle. It is almost a symbol in the world of luxurious sport vehicles. Further goodies include front bumper overlay, splitter, rear bumper diffuser and trunk lid spoiler.

SEE ALSO: Almost as a Batmobile: check Inden Design’s Mercedes-AMG interpretation!

In fact, the thing that astonishes the most is that LARTE Design team does not try to change the nature of the vehicle. Just the opposite, it just adds a kick to the original concept design: it makes it look sexier, muscular and more premium. In fact, some would argue that the original Macan can go more expressive, but as it seems LARTE team is ready to showcase just the opposite.

But tell me, how do you like LARTE Design tuning concepts? Are they that appealing and do you agree with us? Write down in the comment section below!

  • BlackBox team showcases a Porsche 911 that glows in the dark! How cool is that?

2017 BlackBox-Ritcher Porsche 911 GT3 RSWe have already seen some neat vinyl wrapping for automobiles. In fact, vinyl wrapping is almost a commonplace now. However, there are designers who do it relatively good and these who do it masterfully. For example, Blackbox-Richter team, located in the Austrian Schardenberg, present us something quite special: the multiple vinyl wrap. This special technique is used on three lucky vehicles: two 991 GT3 RS machines and one Audi R8 V10

We will be reviewing one of the two Porsche vehicles. This one was renamed “Light Tron 911” and features black matte details with numerous neon-yellow-green phosphor splashes as a part of the second layer, and a third one that adds these neat black matte and glossy overlays. Sounds too-much? In fact, we thought exactly the same. And then we have witnessed the final result and we must say that it looks quite impressive! The overall color scheme and styling looks clean, balanced and contributes to the sporty nature of the vehicle in quite a stylish way.

    2017 BlackBox-Ritcher Porsche 911 GT3 RS

And the best part of all? It glows in the dark! Ha, my child dream is finally fulfilled! The vehicle gives off this green light and looks even spooky in a way. Just imagine how this 911 drives through you and the one and only thing you see is the dimmed green light. Neat!

Unfortunately, there aren’t many more upgrades and changes. The one most notable (after the body finish) is the new exhaust system. Sweet. And most unfortunately far from enough. However, the Audi R8 features a front and rear spoiler, new flaps on the front bumper and numerous carbon-fiber components. We do like these. Definitely we do.

  • WIMMER reveals its latest project: a rather special Porsche machine. Check it out!

2016 WIMMER Porsche 991 Turbo S CabrioAll Porsche fans and enthusiasts know the story: back in 1963 the iconic 911 was revealed to the public. And since this glorious moment the whole lineup become a sort of iconic for the brand. And by delivering us the Turbo and Turbo S models, Porsche has strengthened its lead positions for a quite long time. However, there are still people and brands that are still not entirely satisfied. One such team is WIMMER.

What the team did is to take one shiny and super sexy Porsche 911 that is now called 991 Turbo S Convertible and reshaped it in a way that would fit even the most demanding of buyers and fans. So, let’s see what the engineers have recently unveiled, shall we?

    2016 WIMMER Porsche 991 Turbo S Cabrio

What is special about this tuning project is that WIMMER team hasn’t changed that much the appearance of the vehicle, but had rather tweaked the drivetrain system.

In fact, the whole engine electronics system was revised and had undergone some comprehensive upgrade program. The team has also geared two WIMMER turbo chargers and sporty camshafts, along with implemented intercooler. Further upgrades include fine tunes for the fuel pump, intake manifold and the throttle valve.

Sounds good, right? But this is not all! Additional improvements include placement of high-pressure pump, BMC high flow air filter and WIMMER-RS stainless steel exhaust.

    2016 WIMMER Porsche 991 Turbo S Cabrio

About the final results and performance rates you are asking? Let’s be clear about it: this vehicle delivers some massive power output and offers outstanding road behavior. There are a total of 560hp (417kW) and 860Nm of torque, or in other words, this bad boy finishes the 0-100km/h sprint in mere 2,6 seconds, 0-200km/h in 8,4 and the 0-300km/h in 17,9 seconds. Incredible, isn’t it?

Oh, yeah. We also like the orange finish and the black body visuals. They do contribute to that sporty and super-aggressive appearance of the vehicle.

  • Even the mightiest of cars should bear good tires. Here’s why!

Are Your Tires too Old to Be Driving on?

Of all your car’s parts, its tires have the greatest effect on the way it handles and brakes. Unfortunately, failures of older tires have resulted in fatalities. Thus, it’s important to keep an eye on your tires! The investigation into the accident’s cause that killed actor Paul Walker in 2013 revealed that the Porsche Carrera GT he was riding in had nine-year-old tires. The California Highway Patrol indicated that the tires’ age may have compromised how they handled.

For years, drivers have relied on the tread depth to judge the condition of a tire. But the rubber compounds in a tire wear out with time, regardless of the tread’s condition. An old tire can be a safety hazard. For some people, old tires will never be a problem. If you drive somewhere around 12,000-15,000 miles each year, a tire’s tread may wear out in three to four years, before the rubber compound does. But if you only drive around 6,000 miles a year, aging tires may be an issue.

Rubber bands may illustrate the point. Everyone knows that rubber bands age poorly and will develop cracks within a couple of years. That’s essentially what happens to a tire. Cracks in their rubber start to develop over time. They may appear on the surface and inside the tire, too. This cracking can eventually cause the tread’s steel belts to separate from the rest of the tire. Hard use can accelerate the process.

How to determine a tire’s age

SEE ALSO: speedART team showcases a neatly revised Porsche vehicle. Check it out!

Tires made after the year 2000 have a four-digit DOT code. The first two numbers represent the week of the year in which the tire was made. The second two represent the year of make. A tire with a DOT code of 1207 was made in 2007’s 12th week. Check tires once in a while for any sign of aging, such as tread distortion, or small or large hairline cracks in the sidewall. According to the Service manager at Hiley Mazda of Hurst, a local full-service car dealer in Hurst, TX, vibrations may also be an indicator of aging problems.

How long a tire lasts for

If living in a warm climate, you may want to pay special attention to your tires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has found that tires deteriorate quicker in warmer climates than cooler ones. Do you live near the coast? Keep that in mind when monitoring the condition of your tires. Are you using a spare tire? Well, avoid storing it in the trunk. It will get really hot in there.

However, the NHTSA doesn’t have any specific guidelines on tire aging and defers to the recommendations of tire manufacturers and car makers. Some carmakers such as Mercedes-Benz and Nissan tell people to replace tires six years after their production date, regardless of their tread life. A few tire manufacturers, such as Continental and Michelin, say that a tire can last up to ten years when a driver has all the proper maintenance done as per their vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation.

  • speedART team showcases a neatly revised Porsche vehicle. Check it out!

2016 speedART Porsche SP18-R Our dear friends from speedART present a mighty and beautiful recreation of a Porsche Boxer 718. The heavily tweaked vehicle is named speedART SP18-R and has a lot to demonstrate. First of all, we  are pleasantly surprised by the bodywork: we see neat and sporty speedART CS-rear spoiler, distinctive 21-inch SP9-SPORT wheels and overall super sporty, yet stylish appearance. What we  like the most about the exterior styling is that the team has kept the signature and well-known Porsche looks present and has just enhanced the agile spirit of the well-known premium brand. Sweet.

The interior has also received attention. There are numerous carbon-fiber components, exclusive leather and Alcantara-covered details and additional customizable options.

  • Porsche reveals the 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. Definitely they got us with this one!

2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Ahead of the official debut at the Paris Motor Show Porsche team reveals the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid model. Confident, beautiful and functional, this latest additional to the lineup fills an exact gap: it will be both aggressively agile and efficient. Many will say that this is a sort of contradiction, but it looks like Porsche team has given it a shot.

In terms of drivetrain specs, the new Hybrid machine offers all-wheel drive, 462hp (344kW) power output and… 2.5l/100km fuel consumption. Sounds good? Yes it does. But we still wonder whether these numbers are correct and whether this is the next marketing gimmick or this time it is for real. But soon we will find out.

    Drivetrain system

Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid manages to sprint from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 4.4 seconds and chases a top speed of 309km/h (172mph). Just like its brother, the 918 Spyder, this sweetheart incorporates the same hybrid strategy: it not only uses fuel far more efficiently, but also gives this neat sporty kick to the Panamera.

There is also this new thing, called “E-Boost”. What it does is to unleash additional torque and horsepower output, when driver has pressed the throttle pedal at least 80 per cent of the way down.

    2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid

And let’s talk a bit about the electric engine. This liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery-charged thing delivers 14.1 kWh and is placed under the luggage compartment floor. Although it is bigger and more powerful than previous models, the weight hasn’t changed. What has changed, though, is the charging time: it takes only 12 hours to be fully charged. Sweet.

    Additional equipment and system improvements

This Panamera model comes with improved Porsche Advanced Cockpit concept. There is larger infotainment display, two additional seven-inch screens and maybe the most notable addition is the overall revised intuitive operating principle that offers easy control of the multimedia and automated processes that do not disturb the driver while driving.

    The driving modes

    2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid

Of course, as any other Panamera model,  the E-Hybrid offers incredible driving comfort and versatility. Indeed versatility is the word to use, when talking about the driving modes. There are a total of four: “E-Power”, “Hybrid Auto”, “E-Hold” and “E-Charge”. Going from smooth and soft ride towards aggressive sporty experience, drivers can be ensured that they will find their “sweet spot”, when tweaking the modes.
