  • 2015 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Brims with Design and Technology

With the V-Class, Mercedes-Benz successfully redefines what vans stand for. Yet, the first appearance of the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz V-Class at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show did not seem to throw everyone in ecstasy. This could be changed.

The all new V-Class contains a sort of eye-catching luxury, safety, high-class appeal, comfort and space which are enough to put it at the top of its class. The sporty maxi van offers seating and luggage space for up to eight people which makes it ideal for those who appreciate and prefer bigger spaciousness without discarding elegancy and convenience.

Additionally, the car features Eibach Pro-Kit ad Pro-Spacer both of which improve the performance of the vehicle. On the one hand, the integrated Pro-Kit Performance Springs provide the van with a slightly sportier perception. The Pro-Kit also offers excellent performance handling, progressive spring design, top driving quality and gives a moderate lowering of the center of gravity which lowers the vehicle up to 40mm. On the other hand, there is the Pro-Spacer which is made from high-tensile –strength aluminum alloy. As a result, it brings a fundamental weight advantage compared to wheel spacers made from steel. Moreover, the Pro-Spacer widens the driver’s stance which results in better handling, again, and better appearance.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class maxi van is quite striking in its very own way. The dashboard can be found in four versions of décor. In order to manage the optional COMAND infotainment system in easier and more practical way, there is a multi-gesture touchpad. For ultimate and safe experience while driving, there’s a microphone up front that’s linked into the stereo system so when the driver speaks, he or she does not have to turn around. Nice, eh?

  • Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains Win the Dewar Trophy

Should Mercedes-Benz be proud? Hell yeah! Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP), Brixworth, was awarded the prestigious Dewar Trophy which is noted as the most respectable and honorable award in British engineering sector. The award is highly exceptional and of significant importance for The Royal Automobile Club’s Dewar Trophy is only given in a moment when according to the Club’s experts there are some exclusive candidates who have remarkable achievements in the automotive industry.

The trophy was received by Andy Cowell, Managing Director, Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains, on behalf of the Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains’ team. He pointed out that; “To have received this prestigious award for the second time is a fitting tribute to the commitment to excellence within our organisation. Our work in the constantly evolving arena of Hybrid technology has allowed us to explore an exciting new breed of automotive innovations relevant not only to our performance on the racetrack, but also to the everyday motorist.”

Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains received the award for producing the best, most profitable, beneficial and efficient powertrains within the new Formula One technical regulations. The Mercedes-Benz PU106A Hybrid power unit has been the most assertive and dominant one this season, gaining the brand a huge success after winning 13 out of 16 races. Wow.

The primary goal for Mercedes-Benz this year was to increase the engine efficient capacity to work from about 29% for the previous normally aspirated 2.4 liter V8 to more than 40% with the new 1.6 liter V6 Hybrid turbo. As it seems, Mercedes really accomplished its aim and once again proved itself to be one of the bests.

  • VATH Motorentechnik GmbH: Between Classic and Modern

Throughout the years the close and inseparable relationship between VATH Motorentechnik GmbH (Motor Engineering ltd.) and Mercedes-Benz has served a great purpose to either of the sides.

The founder, Wolfgang VATH, has created a company which is still continuing to progress and play a fundamental part in the market after all these years. By all means, the VATH Motorentechnik GmbH has gained an excellent worldwide reputation as an engine manufacturer. Highlighting the importance of the original production of cars, VATH tunes their “projects” to their best classic characteristics.

Later on, after the establishment of the German tuner, Jasmin EHRET-VATH, the daughter of Wolfgang VATH, takes on the responsibility to run the executive board of the company which is known for car tuning. No matter what the tuner does, it seems to be booming. Not betraying their motto „Everything that can be conserved – must be conserved anyway“, VATH keeps bringing significant up-to-date enhancements to all after-war Mercedes vehicles. And by not discarding their authenticity, the German tuner manages to preserve the balance between what is modern and what is classic. That’s their philosophy after all.

Initially, the work that is being implemented by VATH is on the lower part of the engine and on the crankcase. Doing it in a traditional method, cylinders, for instance, are bored and honored. Pistons are renovated, crankshafts ground, polished and balanced in a really efficient way by the company very own balancing machine. Finally, they get equipped by new bearings. Valve seats undergo a transition as well. They are reamed and, if necessary, valve guides are renewed as well. The refitting of engines for unleaded fuel requires a mounting of hardened valve seat rings. The air ducts are reamed and polished which allows more air passage.

VATH Motorentechnik is an expert when dealing with Mercedes classic models. Beauties such as Pagode, W111 with tail fin, Adenauer, 300 SL or Ponton are dealt with a detailed refitting of automatic and shift gears with heart’s blood. They receive a rear axle retrofitting, optionally with axle ratio modifications.

Undoubtedly then, traditional and classic seem to be the adjectives that best suit VATH Motorentechnik GmbH.

  • Mercedes-Benz G400 CDI Enhanced by German Special Customs

The remarkable Mercedes-Benz G-class is considered to be the pioneer among the off-road vehicles. With their stable developments, the off-roaders continue to offer a permanent efficient powertrain and operative handling dynamic systems. Nevertheless, despite the advancements on the vehicle it still manages to preserve its classic authenticity and appearance.

Now the tuners from German Special Customs, Chemnitz, have designed a custom-made aerodynamic-construction kit which is suitable to almost any G-class vehicle. The exterior of the upgraded Mercedes-Benz G400 CDI includes a brand new fibre motor cowl and lateral carbon outer mirrors. The front bumper that has incorporated LED daylight driving headlights and a carbon fibre spoiler lip are renewed as well. The lateral ventilation slots and the spare wheel covering at the rear are also made of carbon fibres.

The German tuner increases the front wheelhouse widenings and the side sills and, in addition to this, it adds a special diffusor-looking rear bumper which underlines the changes and completes the conversion of the G400 CDI.

German Special Customs provides its in-house Jura wheel composition. The upgraded G-class, then, receives a seven-spoke forged wheel in the 10×22 inch format with 305/40R22 tyres. As an option, the Jura rim is available an inch larger than the initial version.

The interior of the vehicle is refreshed too. The designers from German Special Customs provide customized carbon ornaments which enhance and decorate the cockpit. The seats can be featured either in full leather or in combination of leather and alcantara. The alcantara roof canopy and the A-, B- and C-pillars or other infotainments systems for the front and rear are all included in the the highlighting program of GSC for the G-class.

  • Larte Design Mercedes GL Black Crystal Shows the Power of 290 Horses [VIDEO]

Larte-Design-Mercedes-Benz-GL-Black-Crystal-Movie-THUMBDo you remember Larte Design’s Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal? This beautifully customized vehicle is now the main star in tuning company’s movie “Black Crystal”. The stylish film is very unusual, because it features a fictitious point-to-point race between the polo horse Barraca and Larte’s GL Black Crystal. The video clip was shot on the Hovener Hof stud farm near Weilerswist in North Rhine, Westphalia.

Although the tuned Mercedes has more than 290 hp (213 kW) (the production output is 258 hp (190 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft)), the drivers were quite astonished how very agile and spontaneously speedy the horse was. At the same time, the horse fans found the visual refinement of the car quite compelling.

Vehicle’s name is inspired by the two giant crystals of sorts on the front apron. The tuning program here includes a very aggressive body kit as well as black 22’’ forged alloy wheels and a sonorous exhaust system.

The front guard is escutcheon-shaped and stretches along the entire height. It features LED daytime running light, jags, edges, boomerang-shaped elements, exposed-carbon inserts and a number of air inlets.

What is more, for additional sportier look and proportions, Larte has equipped the Mercedes-Benz GL with new aprons and mighty wing spacers at the rear and the front. The width of the car is additionally underscored by new side skirts and rear door beads. What is so striking here is the central, formula-1-type brake light and the 4-pipe carbon-coated stainless-steel exhaust system.
