  • Bespoke McLaren MSO 650S Spider Concept Debuts At Goodwood

McLaren MSO 650S Spider Concept which has been teased previously this month. If you are fan of the brand, then you will undoubtedly remember that MSO 650S Coupe has already been revealed in China in April. Both models will enter a production, which will not exceed 50 examples. As mentioned previously this month the production Spider will make its debut at Goodwood in the Supercar Paddock. It will also make a run though the famous Hill.

MSO 650S Spirder has many similarities with the Coupe. The exterior is fitted abundantly with number of carbon fibre styling upgrades with a satin finish. For instance, the extended MSO Side Blades are all carbon, while the three-piece rear bumper includes a carbon fibre centre section, which sits above a restyled and aggressive rear diffuser.

The supercar will be offered in three paint finishes: Papaya Spark, Agrigan Black and Sarigan Quartz. The first one is a modern interpretation of the famous McLaren Orange, while the Agrigan Black we have already seen in the MSO 650S Coupe. It is a stylish metallic black with a deep ruby red metallic flake. A new color is the Sarigan Quartz which is vibrant metallic silver with a subtle golden infusion, and it will be shown for the first time at Goodwood.

The final element of this exceptional exterior feature Palladium coloured 10-spoke Super Lightweight alloy wheels. They have unique diamond cut effect to the inside edge of each spoke. It is interesting that these wheels save 4 kg over the standard design.

The interior of this McLaren is upholstered with carbon black leather and Alcantara. There is stylish satin lacquered carbon fibre detailing which can be seen on the driver and passenger zones. As a contrast to these elements, a gloss finish has been applied to the air vents and handling and powertrain switchgear on the Active Dynamics Panel. At last, a signature dedication plaque is installed on the MSO carbon fibre sill panel.

Every single example of MSO 650S will be delivered with a Frank Stephenson-signed sketch and a luxury MSO branded, leather weekend bag. The latter is handcrafted from stealth black carbon fibre leather and includes Alcantara lining.

The pricing of the McLaren MSO 650S begins at £252,500 for the Coupe, while the Spider is rated at £272,500. Those 50 that will purchase the car can expect their deliveries before the end of the year.

  • McLaren To Debut Track-Focused GT Model At Goodwood

McLaren-Automotive-THUMBThe latest track-focused model from McLaren GT is going to make a world debut at the famous Goodwood Hill and the driver Jenson Button is to drive it. We have received this teaser image giving some slight information of the forms of the car. It is clearly visible that it has the typical design of McLaren. The latest generation competitive track-focused racer will demonstrate the brand’s focus on pushing boundaries and drive for constant improvement.

In addition, at the Festival the brand is also to display the recently launched 650S Coupe and Spider, as well as the McLaren P1. The latter was produced in 375 examples which have all been sold. Alongside this, will be one of the earliest examples of McLaren’s successful racers – the M7C, driven by Bruce McLaren, to three podium finishes during the 1969 Formula 1™ season.

As in previous years, the company will also have a presence in the Supercar Paddock. There it will display two models throughout the duration of the weekend. A special example of the 650S developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), will also make an official debut at the Festival of Speed.

We are expecting that the teased car will be a GT version of 650S, which means that it will deliver more power that is standard for the latter. Precisely McLaren 650S is powered by 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 650 hp (478 kW) at 7,250RPM and 678 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000RPM. The engine is coupled with a seven-speed SSG gearbox sending the power to the rear wheels. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated in 3.0 seconds.

  • McLaren Teases Track-Focused P1 GTR

McLaren-P1-GTR-Teaser-THUMBMcLaren P1 GTR is planned to be introduced. The famous 24 Hours of Le Mans was the place where 20 years ago the legendary McLaren F1 GTR made an unforgettable victory. The track-only edition of the P1 comes to resurrect the iconic fame. The limited-run model will go into production when the 375th and final example of the road car has been completed. Of course, the vehicle will have no need to comply with road legislation. McLaren P1 GTR will be designed and developed as the best drivers’ car in the world on track.

It will deliver even greater levels of performance, grip, aerodynamics and downforce than the road car. The car will be equipped with wide range of technologies and a powertrain, which is promised to deliver an intended power output of 1,000 PS (986 bhp).

In addition, it will run on race-proven slick tyres, a widened track and will feature more aggressive and distinctive styling designed to offer optimized performance around the lap. McLaren P1 GTR programme will be priced at £1.98 million. For this price, each customer will receive an individually tailored car.

The customer will also “receive” exclusive consultations with the McLaren-team and Design Director Frank Stephenson. The exact production numbers of the track-focused P1 GTR are still to be determined, but what is for sure is that it will be strictly limited.

  • McLaren F1 – Crash in Italy

There are two variants for insurance companies, when they hear the phrase “McLaren F1”. The first one is full of joy… and money, when the owner decides to make an insurance of his super-sports car, which he doesn’t drive at all. The second is full of misery and suffering and involves the word “crash” in a same sentence. Sometimes, this means an epic £910,000 repair bill.

A McLaren was involved in a serious accident in Italy between Saline di Volterra and Pomarance on Tuesday. Luckily, the driver and the passenger were airlifted to the hospital and are in stable condition. However, the sports car suffered extensive damages and the insurers won’t be happy at all.

This particular vehicle has a chassis number 72 and was part of a a larger group of McLaren F1s participating in a tour of Italy and benefiting from technical support provided by the manufacturer. Part of that group was Rowan Atkinson, who also crashed his McLaren F1, twice. The first time was back in 1999 and the second in 2011, when McLaren needed a year to restore the vehicle and issued a £910,000 for the repair.

As a reminder: McLaren F1 is powered by a 6.1 liter naturally aspirated V12 (by BMW) with 636HP (468 kW) at 7,400RPM and 651Nm (480 lb-ft) at 5,600RPM. The engine has a redline rev limiter set at 7,500RPM. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the compression ratio is 11:1. The curb weight of the car is just 1,140kg.

    0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds; 0-160 km/h in 6.3 seconds; 0-200 km/h in 9.4 seconds and 0-320 km/h in 28 seconds. ¼ mile is covered in 11.1 seconds with 222 km/h (138 mph) and 1 km in 19.6 seconds with 285 km/h (177 mph). The top speed is epic 391 km/h (243 mph).

  • McLaren 650S at Monza Race Track [video]

NM2255 has published a thrilling video with the all-new McLaren 650S hitting the Monza Race Track during a private event – “Pure McLaren Driving Experience”. The sports car is already available on the market with pricing starting from £195,250 for the Coupe model and the Spider is £215,250.

    2014 McLaren 650S is powered by the well-known 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 with 650HP (478 kW) at 7,250RPM and 678Nm (502 lb-ft) at 6,000RPM. The engine is connected to a 7-speed SSG gearbox sending the power to the rear wheels. 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 8.4 seconds, 0-300 km/h in 25.4 seconds and a top speed of 333 km/h (207 mph). The ¼ mile is covered in 10.5 seconds with 224 km/h (139 mph). The fuel consumption is decent – 11.7 liters / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 275 g/km.

The 650S features sports optimized aerodynamics, enhanced handling, high-speed balance and steering turn-in. They are all result of the improved levels of downforce.

Other highlights include carbon ceramic brakes, unique 650 lightweight alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio in Europe, wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control.

    Enjoy!

  • McLaren Special Operations Previews MSO 650S Coupe Concept

McLaren-MSO-650S-Coupe-Concept-THUMBMcLaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept is a unique design concept vehicle which is destined to go on to a China tour. McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has developed bespoke upgrades for it, thus making it with optimised aerodynamic performance and more dramatic appearance. The range of the new styling options are not only available for the McLaren 650S Coupe and 650S Spider, but many of them can also be fitted to the previous 12C models.

McLaren 650S Coupe and 650S Spider are the latest models to join to McLaren’s range. The pictures of the concept are previewing the model ahead its tour throughout China over the coming weeks. This supercar includes an array of bespoke MSO features, such as newly designed carbon fibre rear diffuser and MSO-branded carbon fibre side blades.

The stealth-like appearance of the car is achieved through upgrades made to the exterior bodywork and within the driver-focused cabin. MSO 650S Coupe Concept is finished in ‘Agrigan Black’. The latter is a metallic black paint that was specifically developed in-house and features a deep ruby red metallic flake.

This paint effect contrasts with the extensive use of satin-finished carbon fibre elements. From this material are made the front splitter and air intakes, side blades and the unique MSO ear diffuser. In fact, the side blades are more aggressive, full length, interpretation of the door blades seen on the 650S Coupe and Spider models.

In addtition, they also offer increased improvements to the airflow along the edges of the bodywork. This of course optimizes the aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear, we can see a GT3-inspired rear bumper, which features a carbon fibre centre section. This material carries through to the carbon fibre airbrake and unique MSO rear diffuser.

Furthermore, the engine bay has been further improved with satin black engine covers and a satin finish to all carbon fibre parts. MSO 650S Coupe Concept runs on satin black finished lightweight ‘650S’ alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

The interior enhancements include fixed-back carbon fibre racing seats, which are based on the lightweight design found in the McLaren P1. They are finished in carbon black leather. In addition, satin carbon fibre can be seen extensively throughout the cabin, while the switchgear and bezels are finished in contrasting gloss black.

McLaren MSO 650S Coupe Concept is a one-off design study. MSO is monitoring reaction regarding any potential production examples.

  • Vorsteiner Introduces McLaren MP4-VX In Volcano Orange

Vorsteiner-McLaren-MP4-VX-Volcano-Orange-THUMBThe exceptional tuning company Vorsteiner has just unveiled a striking Volcano Orange McLaren MP4-12C which was enhanced with tuner’s full MP4-VX package. The MP4-12C is alone a breath-taking vehicle, powered by 3.8 L V8 twin turbo McLaren M838T engine coupled with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is one of the most wanted spuercar in the world and now for those lucky to afford it, Vorsteiner has prepared some intriguing optimizations.

To be more precise, this McLaren model is capable of producing 625 horsepower (460 kW) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in the mere 3.1 seconds. The top speed here is electronically limited up to 329 km/h (204 mph). The MP4-12C achieves 11.7 L/100 km fuel consumption on avarage and delivers CO2 emissions of 279 g/km.

To go straight to the facts, when this McLaren fell in the hands of the specialists, it first got a full carbon front bumper with integrated PDC (Parking Distance Control) Sensors and Headlight Washer. At the rear, a new bumper with the same sensors is to be found, while at the sides one can see side sill extension blades.

The stunning Volcano Orange exterior paint scheme is perfectly complemented by the design of the Sport Multi-Piece Forged VSM-311 Wheels on which the car runs. They come in dimension of 20x9J and 21×12.5J at the front and rear, respectively, while fitting effortlessly over the enormous 14.6-inch rotors.

The unique wheels were then coupled with Pirelli P Zero Nero tyres in sizes 255/30/20 at the front and 375/20/21 at the rear. What is left unsaid is that the choice of the wheel finish is Matte Black Face complemented by Volcano Orange Reverse Lip.

  • McLaren 650S Spider Joins 650S Coupe In Geneva World Debut

McLaren-650S-Spider-THUMBThe open top McLaren 650S Spider is currently sharing a world premiere with the 650S Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show. The brand has also released images and full information for the convertible version of its latest model.

650S Spider offers the same performance, handling and driver enjoyment as its coupe sibling, but adds a two-piece retractable hard top. At the event, the car is shown in Tarocco Orange, which is a new paint finish added to the McLaren colour collection.

The convertible is mechanically identical to the 650S Coupe and is fitted with the McLaren M838T twin turbo V8 engine. It generates 650 hp (478 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb ft). Therefore the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is (no surprise) 3.0 seconds – absolutely identical to the Coupe veriosn, while the 0-200 km/h (124 mph) sprint is reached in 8.6 seconds, only additional 0.2 seconds in comparison wit the coupe.

Maximum speed is 329 km/h mph (204 mph) and the fuel consumption and emissions are the same as with the coupe – 24.2 mpg (11.7 l/100km) on the EU combined cycle and 275 g/km of CO2.

At the heart of the McLaren 650S is the carbon fibre MonoCell chassis that needs no additional strengthening or reinforcing. It lends the 650S Spider identical handling and ride, and virtually identical straight-line performance figures. The overall weight of the “cabrio” is 1,370 kg (dry). This makes 40 kg over the Coupe added from the Retractable Hard Top and roof mechanism.

The two-piece Retractable Hard Top automatically raises or lowers in less than 17 seconds. In addition, this Spider uses a heated glass rear window, operating independently of the roof. With the roof down, the rear window acts as a wind deflector, reducing cabin buffeting.

An interesting highlight regarding the 650S models is that their interior is not stripped-off, which is typical for the motorsport cars. Instead, the 650S Coupé and 650 Spider models are fitted with a high level of luxury equipment as standard.

For instance, carbon ceramic brakes sit behind unique ‘650’ lightweight alloy wheels. The latter are fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. Other standard equipment features include IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio in Europe (or SIRIUS satellite radio in North America), wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control. The entire cabin is fully trimmed in Alcantara.

  • McLaren 650S Coupe – Official Images And Details Released

McLaren-650S-Coupe-THUMBWe have shown you yesterday the first unofficial images of the new McLaren 650S Coupe. The pictures-leak was obviously a marketing strategy, because now the brand is officially showing the car through series of pictures of its fastest, most engaging, best equipped and most beautiful series-production supercar yet.

Next to the images however, McLaren 650S has also announced some details. First of all, the 650S will be produced in both coupe and Spider variants, the latter of which will have a retractable folding hard top. As expected, the 650S badge refers to the power output of 650 hp (478 kW) delivered by McLaren’s M838T twin turbo V8 engine.

The ‘S’ in the name of the car stands for ‘Sport’, which highlights the developments made to handling, transmission, drivability and engagement. Unfortunately, the brand did not want to reveal the performance figures but preferred to disclose it ahead of the Geneva Show. What was only announced was that they but will improve on the already rapid 12C.

The design of the model was inspired by the McLaren P1. Precisely, its design includes new front bumper which sits below new LED headlamps. The more integrated front splitter contributes to increased levels of downforce, greater level of steering feeling and additional agility. Unique door blades behind the front wheels direct air from the trailing edges of the front splitter.

The super-car runs on unique design five-spoke lightweight forged ‘650S’ alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. They deliver better roadholding, handling and driver feedback. In terms of technologies the 650S features active aerodynamics, McLaren Airbrake that optimizes levels of downforce on the rear of the car, the brand new ProActive Chassis Control (PCC) suspension system with three modes – Normal, Sport and Track.

Furthermore, McLaren 650S will be also equipped with IRIS satellite navigation with Bluetooth telephony, DAB digital radio (SIRIUS satellite radio in North America), wireless tethering, audio streaming and voice control as standard. The available options here include fixed-back carbon racing seats, based on the lightweight design found in the McLaren P1™, an electric steering column adjustment assisting ingress and egress, a rear parking camera and extended carbon fibre throughout the interior.

McLaren 650S Coupe and Spider will be officially revealed on 4th of arch at Geneva Motor Show.

  • McLaren 650S Leaks Out [IMAGES]

McLaren 650S - FrontThe images and details of the upcoming McLaren 650S has leaked out ahead of the official reveal of the model which will happen in the beginning of March in Geneva. Last week the brand has released a teaser of the car and very scarce details around it.

It was said that the 650S will be positioned between 12C and P1. The name of the car hints at its power – 650S delivers 650 hp (478 kW) from its twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine – the same that powers the 12C and P1.

McLaren 650S will also sport a black interior featuring yellow stitching, a lot of carbon fiber and soft-surfaces. In addition to this, it was also unveiled that the 650S will be equipped with enhanced suspension, aerodynamics, brakes, transmission and tires in order to match its specific characteristics.

In summary, when one takes a look at the photos of the model definitely sees a combination of P1 and 12C. In fact, it seem like the 650S have “stolen” the front fascia from P1, while the back – from the 12C.
