  • DMC Adds GT Package to McLaren MP4 12C Velocita SE

The tuners at DMC are famous for their luxury projects based on supersports cars. Their focus is mainly on Lambos, but from time to time they like to do some work on McLarens. And if you remember the MP4 12C “Velocita” Special Edition project, then now you should be excited since the specialists have developed an additional GT package for the automobile.

As DMC says, this car expresses tuning at its finest. The reason for this is the included materials like the lightweight carbon of the body kit, the titanium exhaust system and the Italian leather inside.

Starting with the front, the additional bumper has received a new “GT package” lip, and the grill has been changed for more fierce design. There have been also added aggressive F1 carnards and side skirts, which further enhance the appearance of the car.

At the back we see the most striking elements. First, the rear diffuser has received revised tunnel set-up, while the rear spoiler has been substituted with light weight one. Just take a look at the rear wing and then proceed to the roof where you’ll see the GT scoop. It has been put there not only for aesthetic purpose but also because it can direct the air flow to the rear wing, so basically these two work together.

ECU changes have been applied to the engine, too. It now produces 660 hp (485 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft), which is pretty impressive given the fact that the standard model could only do 592 hp (435 kW) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft).

What’s left to review is the new interior of this McLaren and although we haven’t received any pictures of it we are pretty sure it is impressive. According to DMC all leather panels can be substituted with a red tone, depending on customer’s wish. The cabin can be further enhanced with various materials such as carbon or wood, leather or Alcantara. What’s your choice?

  • It’s Official: McLaren 675LT Redefines Notions of Beauty and Power

McLaren 675LT is finally revealed! Set to make its debut in less than a week in Geneva, the car is destined to change some standards in the automotive world. Lightweight, optimized, aero and powerful, the coupé only 675LT is fully road legal and capable of 2.9 seconds 0-100km/h acceleration time. The 200 km/h barrier is broken in 7.9 seconds, focusing on the next goal – the 330 km/h top speed and going beyond it.

The new McLaren model is almost a synonym for carbon fiber. This material has been used literally everywhere. Take for instance the front splitter and the big active ‘Longtail’ Airbrake, and the carbon fibre-shelled bucket seats inside. The result is a dry weight of just 1,230kg. At the rear, the circular twin titanium exhaust pipes are what give us some hints to the performance of the car.

The levels of power have been increased due to some substantial improvements to the 3.8-litre V8 engine. We are not going to discuss them in details, but we will only mention that due to these changes the engine unit has received a new unique code – M838TL.

What we haven’t said so far is that the 675 LT is F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ successor (LT stands for “Longtail’), meaning that it embodies its parent’s characteristics. As the name of the car shows, the V8 is capable of generating 675 hp (496 kW). This number suggests only a track focused car. However, as we already told you, McLaren has managed to make the 675LT fully road legal.

What really caught our attention is that the company will offer the vehicle in five different “By McLaren” hero specifications. What this means? Basically, there will be four new colors specifically “invented” for the car. These include Silica White, Delta Red, Napier Green and Chicane Grey. The fifth color will be the heritage Orange.

Each model will be equipped with “stripped out” interior that has been fitted with premium materials and stylish hues, bucket seats wrapped in Alcantara, 675LT logos on the headrest and on the rev counter. Below you can read in details the official specifications of the car. If there’s anything unsaid around it we will let you in a week, when it makes its official debut.

    McLaren 675LT Technical Specifications:

  • Geneva to See the Birth of Limited Production McLaren P1 GTR

McLaren P1 GTR will premiere alongside the recently announced McLaren 675LT at the Geneva Motor Show on 3rd of March. The car will be dressed in a special livery inspired by iconic McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #06R, making it a very special limited edition. The new design of the supercar pays tribute to the historic yellow and green #06R F1 GTR which was one of the five F1 GTRs that dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans 20 years ago.

There will be only minor modifications to the Design Concept presented just six months ago. The limited edition model will be available to those who will participate in the P1 GTR Driver Programme. The latter will start at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain later this year.

Some of the enhancements after extensive tests and continuous development optimize aerodynamic performance and cooling. For instance, the front track is 80mm wider than the road-going P1 and sits 50mm closer to the ground. In addition, it features more aggressive front splitter, 19-inch motorsport alloy wheels and slick Pirelli tyres.

The lightweight windscreen of the road car has been retained; in contrast to the side windows are which are made of polycarbonate. On driver’s side there is a sliding ‘ticket window. On the roof the glass has been replaced by carbon fibre panels, thus delivering weight savings of 50kg.

There are some significant modifications to the IPAS powertrain made. The heart that beats in this McLaren is the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with an enhanced lightweight electric motor. Combined, these powerplants generate 1,000 hp (735 kW), from which 800 hp is produced by the petrol engine and 200 hp by the electric motor.

It is also important to mention that the McLaren P1 GTR joins the road-going McLaren P1 in the Ultimate Series. The company has established a three tier naming structure of Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series.

The Sports Series will make its world debut at the New York International Auto Show in April. The Super Series that comprise of 650S, 625C and 675LT will premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.

  • McLaren 675LT Official Image Leaked

After two teaser videos of the most – anticipated car produced by McLaren right now (the first video showing spinning wheels accompanied with relaxing classical music and the second one revealing the blasting sound of the vehicle), now there is a leaked image of this upcoming beast.

Being a reference to the 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail, the new McLaren 675LT is said to inherit the spirit of its legendary predecessor. Featuring a sufficiently transformed rear end, the 675LT promises to be an unmatched beast on the track. This car packs a twin turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that produces symbolic figures of power. The vicious output of 666 HP (96 kW) fits the devilish nature of the model. When we talk about the vehicle, we are also looking at optimized aerodynamics in comparison to the on-going 650S Coupe. Precisely, there is a 40% increase in downforce and torque.

Furthermore, by the looks of the car, it has received a titanium exhaust system with two circular pipes placed below a reworked airbrake. Other goodies which can also be noticed are the vented rear fenders, revised diffuser, new alloy wheels adorned by orange brake calipers and altered side vents.

The official premiere of the McLaren 675LT will take place next month during the Geneva Motor Show.

  • Hear the new McLaren 675LT Roar! [VIDEO]

McLaren 675LT is the first McLaren in almost two decades that wears the LT designation. The latter stands for “Longtail” and this means that it promises to keep the spirit of its iconic predecessor. The car is aerodynamically optimized, and in fact the active ‘Longtail’ Airbrake contributes to a 40 percent increase in overall downforce in comparison to the 650S. Both cars will be sitting alongside in the McLaren Super Series.

As the name suggest, the total power output of the model is of 675 hp, while the torque is 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). These two “numbers” are produced by a thoroughly revised 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, which includes new lightweight components and turbos.

Optimized acceleration and traction from a standing start in first gear is ensured by the controlled torque delivery of 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). Then it rises to the full 700 Nm available from 5,500-6,500 rpm through each of the other gears.

Another specific feature in the new McLaren is the redesigned crossover exhaust system, which is formed from lightweight titanium. As you can see from the video below, there are two circular titanium exhaust pipes that exit centrally through exposed bodywork below the rear ‘Longtail’ Airbrake. This new system has a crucial role, because it optimizes performance and reduces weight.

The 675LT will be available as a coupe only. More details are yet to come, including the performance figures, and this is expected to happen during car’s world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 3rd of March.

  • McLaren and Honda Ready to Make History with MP4-30 [VIDEO]

McLaren–Honda has just exclusively revealed their new racing car, dubbed MP4-30. The car is going to compete in the upcoming 2015 FIA Formula One (F1) World Championship. It is driven by the newly developed 1.6 litre V6 engine (RA615H) developed by Honda. The MP4-30 is an important first step as McLaren and Honda progress towards their strong partnership and evokes heavy weight of expectations of writing a fresh chapter in Formula 1.

As a matter of fact, it has been 22 years since McLaren and Honda last raced together. Back then they formed nearly an unbeatable partnership that dominated Formula 1 in the 1980s and ’90s.

In the video below you can take a close look at the brand-new MP4-30 chassis. You can also discover how Honda and McLaren’s racing DNA links this car to one of its most illustrious forebears, the 1991’s McLaren-Honda MP4/6.

Another interesting fact about this car is that it has the only chassis on the grid which is fitted with Honda’s RA615H Hybrid power unit. It also features an evolved colour scheme. In addition, the car has been aerodynamically refined and the result is pretty obvious: an elegant car with a refined nose-box solution and a slimmed rear-end packaging. Oh, we forgot the incorporation of the new power unit under its tightly contoured bodywork.

It seems that with the MP4-30, McLaren and Honda are ready to make quick and efficient progress towards a successful future.

  • McLaren 675LT with a Devilish 666 HP [VIDEO]

Set to make its premiere in Geneva, the newest McLaren product has already received its name and it is McLaren 675LT. The car inherits the spirit and ethos of its iconic predecessor  “Longtail’ but will combine it with blistering aerodynamics, optimized performance as well as increased downforce and reduced weight.

This modern interpretation of the 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail promises to be the “lightest, the quickest, and the purest version of the range.” The automaker has made it clear that the model will be equipped with a revised twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine which is capable of producing the jaw-dropping 666 HP (496 kW). In consequence, thanks to these figures, the new McLaren model is proclaimed to be the most powerful one in the Super Series.

Still, the extra oomph won’t be the only thing that defines the devilish character of the 675LT. It also promises to arrive with a reworked body which can be distinguished by the special longtail treatment which is a tribute to the legendary F1 GTR Long Tail. No other details have been released so far but we were presented with a teaser video as a compromise. Nevertheless, it is just as scarce as everything else really. Spinning wheels and classic music in the background can hardly calm down the beating hearts of the people who are expecting to see the final product.

McLaren 675LT will be shown along with the exciting 650S and the Asia-only 625C models during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March.

  • Rowan Atkinson Selling his McLaren F1 for £8 Million

Rowan Atkinson, most-commonly known as Mr.Bean, has decided to “break up” with his splendid McLaren F1. The end of the “affair” is marked by the screaming sum of £8 million for which the vehicle is being sold by luxury dealer Taylor & Crawley based in London.

The 60-year-old actor bought the sports car back in 1997 for £640,000. Taking into consideration the current price tag, the initial price seems ridiculous. Atkinson’s ultra-rare F1 arrives with a chassis number 61. This McLaren F1 is powered by a 6.1-litre V12 engine that delivers a 627 bhp. This is enough to accelerate car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds, reaching 241mph.

However, Rowan Atkinson has had two accidents with the super-automotive-machine. The first one happened in 2009 and was not that serious unlike the second one that occurred in August 2011. The actor loses control of his vehicle while driving on a slippery road close to Peterborough. Luckily, he escapes the accident without any severe injuries.

In an interview for Telegraph, the actor points out that; “The whole point of the car, the thing no-one ever writes about, is you don’t need to go to the Stelvio Pass or the Nurburgring to enjoy it. It’s so quiet, so comfortable that you can use it – and enjoy it – on any journey. Most of the miles I have done it in are journeys you might do in any other car – going to Sainsburys or doing the school run.”

  • McLaren 650S Le Mans: When History Cannot Be Forgotten

Quoting McLaren Automotive, “every one of the 106 models of the McLaren F1 built has a story to tell.” A story which often begins with „Do you remember the time when…“ and continues with the reveal of a memory of something that deserves to be fixed and preserved in time.

Twenty years after the the chequered flag was waved at the end of the 1995 race, five McLaren F1 GTR monsters crossed the line, winning 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th place. Marking this impressive achievement, five special editions of the McLaren F1, named the McLaren F1 Le Mans, are commissioned. Of course, each one of them is signifying the cars that finished back then.

The special edition of McLaren will be powered by the familiar 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine which will still produce unchained 641 HP and 678 Nm (500 lb ft) of peak torque. This run from 0 to 62 mph is achieved in 3 seconds, while the top speed is that of 207 mph.

With a design inspired by the race-winning #59 McLaren F1 GTR, the McLaren 650S Le Mans will inherit many of the iconic race-winner characteristics. For example, the anniversary car will feature the notable roof-mounted ‚‘snorkel‘ air intake and wing louvers. Combining the incredible tone of the 1995 car with a slightly modernized twist, the 650S Le Mans becomes an example of excellence and uniqueness.

Of course, there are updated components which further shape the presence of the limited edition model. Some of the carbon fiber features include: front splitter and rear bumper but there are also MSO-developed extended side blades and the distinctive MSO rear diffuser. The exterior of the F1 Le Mans has metallic Sarthe Grey paint color which is borrowed from the color of the race-winning McLaren F1 GTR. For additional exclusiveness there is a ‘Le Mans’ logo adorning the wheels and the trailing edge of the door blades. What is more, one-of-a-kind ‘Le Mans Edition’ lightweight wheels – 19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the rear – are fitted around the design of the motorsport rims used on the 1995 racers.

Inside, the car has black leather and Alcantara upholstery, with a pair of sports seats in black finish and contrasting McLaren Orange Alcantara in the center. Not betraying its nature, the automaker embosses another ‘Le Mans’ logo on the headrest of each seat, as well as on the floor mats.

Limited to 50 units only, the 2015 McLaren 650S Le Mans is priced at £244,500. Deliveries will begin in mid-2015.

  • Production McLaren P1 GTR Debuts in Geneva [VIDEO]

We had a glimpse of the interior of 2016 McLaren P1 GTR, and it is now time for the motorsport oriented company to show us little more. With the news that a production-intended P1 GTR is coming to Geneva, McLaren has also revealed pictures from the testing at global circuits in Europe and the Middle East. There is also a video showing the latest stages in the development programme of the car, which is featured below.

The launch of the bespoke Driver Programme happens ahead of the start of production car later this year. As testing continues P1 looks like one of the fastest McLarens that wears the famous ‘speed mark’.

Weight-saving measures have been significant here. Combined with the track-optimisation of the petrol-electric powertrain, the new car is set to boast a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 10 percent (when compared to the road-going model). This means more than 700 PS per tonne!

The team at McLaren did extensive work to achieve this result. Thanks to the motorsport-derived technology and expertise, the track-only model has already covered thousands of kilometres of extreme testing.

The result: the tests pushed the performance of the car to its limits! And also revealed the need to further enhance cooling and aerodynamics over the design concept previewed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last summer.

This dedicated development programme is continuing at the moment and will do so over the coming months. It aims to additionally tune the performance, aerodynamics, driving dynamics and handling balance. In the forthcoming weeks, new drivers will join the Driver Programme. They will test the car at some of the most iconic racing circuits.

  • DMC McLaren MSO MP4 is Capable of 660 HP?

DMC-McLaren-MSO-MP4-THUMBDMC-McLaren-MSO-MP4-651MSO or McLaren Special Operations produces company’s finest products. One of them, the MSO MP4 has been refined by the luxury tuning specialists at DMC. The elegant styling and performance packages that they have created are in perfect harmony with the original MP4 design. They are made with materials such as carbon fiber (for the body kit), titanium (for the exhaust system), and exclusive Italian Leather (for the interior).

Although the front bumper could receive a front lip, DMC decided to leave it unchanged. However, they did add new side skirts which support the pressure between the axles. The rear of the car includes a rear diffuser that displays a revised tunnel set-up by adding 2 fins.

At the back we also see that the standard rear spoiler has been replaced with a light weight one. The rear wing together with the aero scoop on the roof creates a sense of perfection. It supports the aerodynamics, because the scoop is capable of directing the wind flow to the rear wing.

The performance is also supported by new forged alloy wheels in size of 20×8,5” at the front and 21×12” at the back. They were later fitted with P-Zero tyres of the dimensions 245/30r20 and 325/25r21.

This McLaren has also received an ECU performance package as well. It boosts the power of the supercar from 592 hp (435 kW) and 599 Nm (442 ft.lbs) to 660 hp (485 kW) and 680 Nm (502 ft.lbs) of torque. The package is rounded-out with the refinement of the interior which now sports new Italian fine leathers and carbon fiber treatment.
