Jaguar-XJ_e-PHEV-THUMBJaguar XJ_e is an experimental plug-in hybrid which recently was announced to be the “Most Energy Efficient Luxury Car Prototype” and received the “Technical Panel’s Award of Merit”. In fact the vehicle uses only 1.2 liters of petrol and 11 kWh of electricity for over 63 mile course.

Jaguar XJ_e PHEV is a project part of the strategy of both Jaguar and Land Rover to develop best-in-class low-carbon premium products. To be more precise this vehicle utilise a specially developed 2-litre turbocharged engine coupled with a 69kW electric motor and a 12.3kWh lithium-ion battery.

This replaces the 5-litre V8 of the standard XJ. To go even further into details, the Jaguar XJ_e can achieve a range of about 25 miles in all-electric mode and a maximum electric mode top speed of 75mph. Performance estimates for the Jaguar XJ_e are fuel economy of 87 miles per gallon and a top speed of 150mph.

Here the tailpipe emissions are 75g/km and this means that the brand have achieved up to 70 per cent improvement compared to the standard XJ model. As a matter of fact experimental vehicles like the XJ_e Hybrids and electrification technologies are key elements of Jaguar Land Rover’s plan to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • 2012 Paris Motor Show: Jaguar F-Type – A Two-Seater Convertible Sports car

Jaguar has officially announced the all-new 2013 F-TYPE at an exclusive event in the gardens of the Musée Rodin Museum in Paris. The two-seater, convertible sports car represents a return to the company’s heartland, focusing on performance, agility and driver involvement.

“Jaguar is a founder member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-TYPE we’ve reignited that flame. The F-TYPE isn’t designed to be like anyone else’s sports car. It’s a Jaguar sports car – ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive.”, commented Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar

The F-TYPE features all-aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension and a quick-ratio steering rack for ultimate responsiveness. The aluminium architecture has been optimised to provide the stiffest possible underpinnings for the suspension with rigidity gains of more than 30 per cent in key areas compared to any other Jaguar application

    There will be three models at launch – F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and F-TYPE V8 S.

The engine range includes a new 3.0 liter V6, which is available in two variant 340HP (250 kW) and 380HP (280 kW). The 340HP version accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/h (161 mph) electronically limited. The 380HP model is extremely fast – 4.9 seconds to 100 km/h and 275 km/h (171 mph).

    Jaguar’s highly acclaimed 5.0-litre V8 boasts 495HP (364 kW) and 625Nm (463 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) – electronically limited.

An active exhaust system, which is standard on the S and V8 S models, adds another dimension of driver-engagement. Valves in the exhaust system open under load from 3000rpm which allows the exhaust note to build to a thrilling crescendo at the redline.

The F-TYPE has a set of eight closely-spaced, sporting ratios in its Quickshift transmission, giving greater driver control. The V6-powered S model also includes a Dynamic Launch feature, which optimises acceleration from rest.

    The F-TYPE will be available OTR for £58,500, the F-TYPE S for £67,500 and the F-TYPE V8 S for £79,950.

  • Jaguar F-Type Tested at Nardo and Nuerburgring [VIDEO]

Jaguar-F-Type-THUMBThe new 2013 Jaguar F-Type is going to be officially unveiled in several days. And to remind you, nearly a week ago a leak image was published over the web space, which gave everybody the sense of perfection of this amazing new model.

Now, Jaguar is heating up its audience with two exciting videos of the new F-Type, where it shows amazing performance, perfect stance and gives thrills to all watching.

The first footage, carrying the name Fierce, was shot at the Nardo Test Facility in Italy. Here the new model was put through the most rigorous high-speed testing by Jaduar’s engineers. The unique ring shaped track gave the opportunity to the test drivers to not only VMax the car but also to stress test at the most extreme high temperatures. In general, they have pushed the F-Type to its limits to ensure outstanding performance.

  • Jaguar F-Type Finally Leaked!

Jaguar-F-Type-THUMBThe first image of the strongly anticipated Jaguar F-Type has just leaked! As it was expected it is now obvious the visual resemblance between this model and the C-X16 Concept. The photograph of the new F-Type model was originally published in photographers’ Chris Doane Facebook profile.

Expected technical specifications of the car however aren’t announced. However, it is also not a secret that they will be very similar to those of afore mentioned concept by Jaguar. In addition, in contrast to the latter, the F-Type will be available as an open top only.

It is rumored that the F-Type will be available in two variants, one which generates 340 hp (250 kW) or 380 hp (280 kW). Both figures are coming from Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine. Then, there will be the derivative of the exciting supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. Stop/Start system is expected as well.

  • 2013 Jaguar XF and XJ Models Now With All-Wheel Drive

2013-Jaguar-XF-AWD-THUMBJaguar announces that the 2013 XF an XJ models will now feature an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD). The new versions of the luxury models will be available in selected markets from 2013 Model Year.

The new AWD will undoubtedly increase the capability and versatility of the XF and XJ in conditions where grip is compromised. For instance such regions are North America, Russia, China and continental Europe.

The vehicles will be powered by Jaguar’s new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged 340 hp (250 kW) petrol engine. This means that it will be mated to the first-ever all-wheel drive system in a Jaguar XJ and XF models.

An active torque-management system, Jaguar Instinctive All-Wheel Drive offers a performance-oriented rear-drive bias and can shift power to the front wheels to either pre-empt or counter wheel slip.

For instance, when the Jaguar is driven in dry-road conditions, the all-wheel drive system normally sends most torque to the rear wheels to preserve the agile driving feel and response of a rear-wheel drive.

In addition, the system monitors grip levels, the steering and throttle inputs at all times.Using special control algorithms, the system can proactively predict rear-tire slip and send torque to the front wheels to help increase traction.

And as a matter of fact, Jaguar engineers spent 18 months testing the new Instinctive All-Wheel Drive system in a different of conditions. Some of them featured frozen lakes and split friction coefficient surfaces.

Oh… and a Stop/Start system as well.

The current prototypes are being thoroughly tested through hell and ice since the virtual testing yielded 300 and counting TB of data. More than 10-million CPU hours of processing had gone into the design analysis.

Said Ian Hoban, Jaguar’s Vehicle Line Director commented: “When you are working on a Jaguar sports car the expectations of the world are huge. We’re really pleased how the attributes have translated from the virtual simulation work we’ve done into the physical world.

“Now, we’re refining and adding those last few percentage points – that true element of honing which the Jaguar test team are delivering – which will turn a great sports car into an exceptional one.”

  • Legendary Jaguar C-Type wins Monaco Historique

jag_monaco_c-type_THUMBThe legendary 1952 Jaguar C-Type won the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, Serie C for Pre-1953 Sports Prototypes. Behind the steering wheel was the driver Alex Buncombe, thank to him the prestigious FIA sanctioned race was won.

In particular, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is one of the most popular and broadly appreciated “historic” racings around the world. This is the 8th running of the FIA sanctioned event, and generally it occurs two weeks before the F1 Grand Prix.

However, more importantly, the actual race winning 1952 C-type has an interesting history. The first owner of the legend was Juan Manuel Fangio, who bought it directly from the Jaguar factory. The car then was carefully prepared by the team and mechanics of Jaguar, In order to be in perfect condition and to take part in the race.

The driver Alex Buncombe himself has even commented how super quick the C-Type was and in fact that in his opinion this was the best C-type in the world.

Another highlight is that this is also a debut for the Jaguar brand in this race. And the result as we see is a superb achievement.

The next event for Jaguar Heritage Racing is the legendary Mille Miglia in Italy. It will start on 16th of May (Thursday), so stay tuned!

  • Prior Design Range Rover Body Kit

PD-Land-Rover-Range-Rover-2005-kit-thumbAncient gods need accessories as well. That’s why we’ve got news from Prior Design for they have given the iconic Range Rover (2002-2005) a makeover. We are talking about nothing more drastic than a simple body kit but that’s what Prior do and they do it best.

It really is simple – a front bumper, side skirts and a rear bumper. The overall kit does make the Range Rover loose its off-road appeal but since when SUV’s have been for dirt roads? Today, it’s all about the urban look – a sense of security on the rough asphalt, the elevated stance in a traffic jam, the mind-boggling gas station receipt (wait… that’s not a plus). Anyway. Prior have given this particular Range Rover something that will make it stand out from the other icons and there are a lot of them.

Back in the days, these Range Rovers used Jaguar derived V8 engines which, at best, had 5.0-liters of displacement, 503 hp and 625 Nm of Torque – so not that ancient after all. They were, and still are the ultimate statement of clout.

All Prior Design products are made from a Dura-Flex FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) material – sturdy, flexible and paint-friendly. The whole package will set you back with around 2,280 Euros ($2,971)

  • 2012 Jaguar XJ Supersport – The new “Ring Taxi”

For more than a decade, BMW M5 is the official Ring Taxi. It takes passengers around the famous Nurburgring race track driven by a professional pilot. Now, there is a new taxi and it comes from Jaguar. It is based on the latest all-aluminium long wheelbase XJ Supersport with Sport and Speed Pack options.

The XJ Supersport Ring Taxi is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 510HP (375 kW) and 625Nm (461 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission sending all that power to the rear wheels. 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h.

“We’ve been running a successful Nürburgring driving programme from our Nordschleife engineering test centre now for some time, as it’s the very best place to demonstrate the dynamic abilities of the current Jaguar XF, XJ and XK models.“, commented Frank Klaas, Global Head of Communications, Jaguar Land Rover.

“Of these models, we found it’s the XJ Supersport that most often surprises journalists with its speed simply because they perceive it to be a large luxury car. The XJ is both those things, of course, but its aluminium architecture means it’s rigid and lightweight too, which make it a very good car on track. To underline that fact, our engineering team created this special Nürburgring taxi version in which our trained drivers can safely take passengers on very hot laps!”, he added.

The new Ring Taxi is finished in matte grey and comes with some upgrades like a new front splitter and a rear spoiler. There are also red brake calipers, gloss black accents and a set of 20” alloy wheels.

The interior features four individual racing seats, each equipped with four-point harnesses and a full bespoke roll cage.
