  • Alpha-N Performance Boosts Not One But Two Ferraris: the 488 GTB and California T

Alpha-N Performance Ferrari 488 GTB Front ViewWhen a great car like the Ferrari 488 or the California T is enhanced by people who really love their work, like for instance the experts at Alpha-N Performance, the results are fantastic. Take par example the 488 GTB and the California T presented here.

The revised California T debuted last year at the Geneva Motor Show and this spring it was joined by the 488 GTB. Common between them is the twin-turbo V8 engine, which is a subject of our interest today. The fact that the cars are powered by turbocharged engine means that it is more likable to see them ‘involved’ in tunings. Just like those two here.

SEE ALSO: Alpha-N Performance and the BMW M2 Project

Due to its additional power, they not only have more confident stance, but are proudly showing-off their bigger power and torque.

As a matter of fact, the specialists at Alpha-N Performance are one of the first tuners to take advantage of this. Therefore they were also among the first to produce an EVOX performance ECU upgrade for 488 GTB’s and California T’s V8 unit.

    The Results?

    Alpha-N Performance Ferrari California T

Let’s stop the teasing and reveal the actual additional numbers added to the output of both cars. 488 GTB’s horsepower was increased from 670 to 790 hp (493 to 581 kW), while the torque grew from 760 to 860 Nm (561to 635 lb-ft). The equivalent conversion for the Ferrari California T boosts the power output from 560 to 680 hp (412 to 500 kW), with peak torque lifted from 755 to 873 Nm (557 to 644 lb-ft).

So that’s pretty nice, isn’t it?

  • Ferrari F12tdf Is Here to Honor Its Predecessors

2015 Ferrari F12tdfFerrari reveals the F12tdf vehicle that plays homage to the Tour de France, the notorious endurance track that Ferrari team domianted back in the 1950’s and 1960’s. And in 1956 the team demonstrated the 250 GT Berlinetta which won four consecutive events. It was simply the most advanced and flexible car back then. It combined driveability and performance, along with toughness and endurance. And now the F12tdf is the ultimate expression of concept that would dominate every extreme track. And by the way, there will be just 799 produced.

The F12tdf will blend within itself all the technical innovations with Ferrari’s DNA: powerplant, aerodynamics and flexibility. Definitely the result shows that this machine will be second to none.

The heart of the beauty is a naturally-aspired V12 unit that is in fact a multi-award-winning engine. Furthermore, vehicle’s dynamic systems allow better acceleration, stability and has a 8 percent increase in the ratio of the front tires, compared to the rear ones. In fact, as we talk about wheels, this particular model comes with the innovative rear-wheel steering system: the Virtual Short Wheelbase. It ensures improved wheel response and increases stability at high speeds. In fact, the F12tdf also offers and the dramatic 87% increase in the downforce.

Furthermore, the dramatically restyled body, interior and drivetrain system brings not only improved flexibility and power, but also a total of 110 kg off the car’s overall weight.

    Drivetrain system

The incorporated V12 that was further tweaked and tuned now offers a maximum power output from 740 cv to780 cv at 8,500 rpm. And the maximum torque is now 705 Nm at 6,750 rpm. This unit is paired to a specific version of the F1 DCT that offers 6% shorter gear ratios and 30% faster upshifts. This whole configuration allows the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2,9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h (111 mph) in 7,9 seconds.

    Style

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre Team, theF12tdf has elegant and sensual forms as a product of Ferrari’s impeccable sense of beauty and design.

    2015 Ferrari F12tdf

Generally the machine comes with a wider front and more aggressive stance. And maybe one of the most notable additions in this model is the evolution of the Aerobridge which further enhanced by the carbon-fiber elements. This whole combination results on rich details and neat aesthetics.

The uncompromising luxury appearance is even further enhanced by the Spartan cockpit. It has this wrap-around effect. Alcantara leather is chosen over tradition leather this time and the aluminum sheets replace the floor mats.

    2015 Ferrari F12tdf

Surely, this machine is a 100% Ferrari. You can tell by the looks, style, performance and overall elegance.

  • Prior Design Transforming the Ferrari 458 Italia

Prior Design Ferrari Italia F458 Front ViewPrior Design is proud to present their latest project based on the Ferrari Italia F458. It is one of their best tunings we have seen so far and we decided to bring it forward to the public. Although 458 Italia is a sports car that barely needs modifications, Prior Design experts were courageous enough to step into fields that other tuners rarely do.

Basically, the conversion comprises not only of a widening aerodynamic kit, but also adds new wheels and tires, additional lowering as well as extra output for the famous car. And here are the steps of the tuning:

    PD458WB Widebody Aero-Kit

This is the name of the amount of additional parts added to this Ferrari. As a result, the car is 60mm wider up front and 120 mm at the rear. This has been achieved via various elements like the new front and rear bumper, side skirts with add-on spoiler, the front fenders and the rear widenings. The bonnet is also new and it includes vents. PD also added trunk spoiler and vented engine covers.

The catch here is that if you have enough money, you can order these parts in carbon fiber variant. So in this way you will achieve not only more width, but also less weight.

    Wheels & Tires Are Dramatic

Prior Design Ferrari Italia F458 Front and Side View

Wider proportions need bigger wheels to ride on. Hence, the three-piece forged alloys were added. They were made in-house and measure 21×9,5 at the front and 22×11,5 at the rear. The tires added are of the dimensions 255/30ZR21 and 325/25ZR21 at the front and rear, respectively. They are made by Continental.

    More Goodies

Prior Design offers an H&R Sport Suspension on request. It will deliver to your Ferrari 35mm lowering, thus making it more menacing than before. There are also in-house made carbon-fiber engine compartment covers.

    Interior

Inside, the car has been completed with leather seats in Alcantara and Nappa. The upholstery was is with red stitching.

PD Exhaust System & Engine Chip Tuning

Prior Design Ferrari Italia F458 Rear View

The tuners also ensured that there is a new exhaust system for this car. Precisely, it features 200Cell race cats, manifold and muffler with clap control. The exhaust also serves in terms of power improvement of up to 40PS. In addition, the performance was enhanced via Chiptuning. As a result, the Ferrari is now 30PS and 40Nm stronger.

  • Lithfield Bring Even More Confidence for Ferrari 458

The well-known super-tuner Litchfield has announced details for the enhancement packs for the Ferrari 458. What the tuner adds is some noticeable boost in power and torque, as well some additional improvements on the exhaust note. Nice.

The Ferrari 458 pack has been developed and tested for many months and countless miles just to provide that sweet addition in terms of performance and power. And in order to deliver just exactly what clients wanted, Litchfield team developed a balanced remap and exhaust pack which will deliver additional 44 hp (32 kW) and 17 lb ft of torque over the standard offerings.

And having developed numerous conversions for the 458 Speciale, Litchfield used the basis of the Akrapovi exhaust system. It does not only reduces the overall weight with 14.2 kg but also adds a purposeful, sonorous howl to proceeding thanks to the titanium construction. How cool is that? And when allied to the ECU remap, its superior character and CNC mandrel bent curves help to take the overall of 551 hp (405 kW). Upgrade that will be truly noticeable for the drivers.

And the final touches come in the form of precision. Under the watchful eye of the skilled technicians the 458’s chassis is aligned with special “fast-road” settings to ensure every tire has perfect contact with the read and to deliver optimal steering stability and precision.

So, what you get at the end? A well-known high quality Ferrari vehicle but this time the good people at Litchfield added and some performance upgrades. How cool is that?

  • 2016 Ferrari 488 Spider Has it All: 661HP and Entirely Retractable Hard Top [VIDEO]

2016 Ferrari 488 Spider Side View2016 Ferrari 488 Spider has just been launched. This is company’s most powerful mid-rear-engined V8 car, which is fitted with patented retractable hard top (RHT). As a matter of fact, Ferrari was the first car manufacturer to introduce the RHT to the automotive market. As a result, there are around 25kgs saved and more comfort for the occupants in the cockpit.

In addition, 488 Spider is equipped with the highest level of technological innovation. Ferrari says that it has designed every inch of it with exclusive technological benchmarks for the sector. Examples are the aluminium spaceframe chassis and bodyshell as well as the V8 powerplant.

    Aerodynamics

Very important about this Ferrari is that it is the most aerodynamically efficient Spider model ever built by the company. The engineers have taken care to ensure that there is optimal downforce and minimum drag at the same time.

SEE ALSO: Ferrari 488 GTB Debuts in Tokyo

This has been achieved through the addition of a blown spoiler and an aerodynamic underbody with vortex generators. In terms of air flow, Ferrari technicians have decided to take more seriously the in-car comfort, making the electric glass rear wind stop adjustable in three positions.

    Aluminium Spaceframe Chassis

2016 Ferrari 488 Spider Rear View

RHT was the main point for the start of the design of the car. Using spaceframe chassis made of 11 different aluminium alloys and other metals, this allowed for achieving the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness figures as the coupe variant. In addition, this highly sophisticated chassis also improved performance by 23%.

How the RHT works in practice? The retractable hard top folds backwards in two overlapping sections. It eventually rests on the engine in a very compact way. All in all, the RHT needs only 14 seconds to fully retract or deploy.

The Heart of Ferrari 488 Spider

    2016 Ferrari 488 Spider Interior

The driving force of this powerful vehicle comprises of 3902 cc turbo-charged V8 engine. We have seen it already debuting on the 488 GTB. Performance-wise it produces no less than 661HP (486 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) at 3000 rpm. If you wonder about the acceleration, this immense force sends the Ferrari from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

The Heart of 2016 Ferrari 488 Spider Beats with 661HP!

Snowmobile Enters Drag Race Vs FerrariI have never imagined that this could be possible: this video shows how two Ferraris enter a drag race with… a snowmobile. And it is insane! But isn’t this exactly what happens when you think you’ve seen everything. Especially when it comes to the crazy world of automobiles.

The strange racing happened at the Modball Rally this June at the Varano de’ Melegari racetrack. The snowmobile actually made several drag races against two Ferraris: F430 Spider and 458 Spider. Guess who won? You will be amazed! Just take a look:

  • Miami Vice’s Legend Goes on Sale!

1986 Ferrari TestarossaDo you remember the ’80s television saga “Miami Vice”? I bet you do. And there are good news for the fans out there. The star of the series will come to the Mecum Daytime Auction in Monterey, August 13-15. And if you are really a fan of the saga, you will know, that I do not talk about Sonny Crockett or Ricardo Tubbs. I am talking about the 1986 Ferrari Testarossa. The iconic supercar of the ’80s, that defined a whole decade. And now the very same vehicle is offered for sale at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa – Del Monte Golf Course this August, 15th.

SEE ALSO: Lamborghini Aventador, 458 Italia and LaFerrari Share Something in Common

In fact, the vehicle is so special, that it is rumored, that Enzo Ferrari himself proposed two Testarossa models to the show. And we all know the rest of the story: the Testarossa became sort of signature to the whole show. The only noticeable change was noticed when the car was painted in white, in order to be better seen in the night scenes. And since these glorious days, the car quickly became a cult, along with some other props in the series: Ray Ban glasses, Armani jackets, Scarab speedboats and of course explosions and enough firearms for an whole army.

    1986 Ferrari Testarossa

The Testarossa itself offers a 4.9-liter, 390-horsepower flat-12 powerplant, five-speed manual gated gearbox, beige leather, power windows, power locks, power seats, cruise control and even an air conditioning. And sadly, after the end of the series, this veteran ended up in 1989 in storage until earlier this year. But the golden years are yet to come, so don’t forget to witness who will take the legendary vehicle home. I wonder, who wouldn’t want such a vehicle. It is still beautiful, stylish and reminds for an era, that anyone, who lived it want it back.

  • Lamborghini Aventador, 458 Italia and LaFerrari Share Something in Common

Lamborghini Aventador in Carbon SkinLamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari LaFerrari are all Italian-made cars. But this is not the single thing they share in common. If you take a detailed look at our picture gallery below, you will be amazed to find that all three have been made entirely from carbon fibre. How many of you have imagined these in a carbon skin? At least I did, and the experts responsible for these modifications are those at the so called “boutique carbon fibre atelier” Vitesse | AuDessus.

Lamborghini Aventador, 458 Italia and LaFerrari share something in common and it is not the Italian origin.

If you wonder about the meaning of the French words, they stand for “superior speed”. And we are not expecting less, when it comes to the trio especially when it is dressed in pure carbon.

The company specializes in making one-off automotive pieces, and what is more important here is that it is launching its services worldwide, which means that you now have the opportunity of owning such a superhero.

SEE ALSO: SR Auto Releases Two-Tone Pack for Lamborghini Aventador LP720

Ferrari 458 Italia has an exterior entirely made of carbon fibre.

As you can see from the images below, the hand-crafted lightweight material has been extensively used. What we can’t see is that it has been also utilized for the interior, many hidden components and the monocoques.

In fact, Vitesse | AuDessus has already worked on creating full carbon fibre bodies for vehicles like the Veyron, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918. However, the trio here literally takes my mind, and I didn’t expect that it is possible to make carbon fibre look so … diverse.

Ferrari LaFerrari in Carbon Fibre Skin

While on the Aventador the material looks more like a foil-wrapping (but it is not), on the LaFerrari and 458 Italia it looks like something innate. The question here is how fast will these Italian supercars accelerate and will they keep their aerodynamic stability. After all, carbon is famous for its use in weight optimization.

No details regarding these concerns were disclosed by Vitesse | AuDessus. But if you are still interested in ordering such a bespoke exterior, expect to be charged at least $200 000 USD. After all luxury and individuality have its price.

  • Ferrari California T is Tailor Made for Goodwood

Ferrari California T “Tailor Made” Front ViewFerrari California T “Tailor Made” will be the most exclusive vehicle in Ferrari’s lineup at Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car has been created specifically under the so called “Ferrari Tailor-Made” personalization programme from Maranello. As a matter of fact, the programme was developed for clients who wish to drive bespoke and extremely individual cars.

    Exterior

The modifications on this Ferrari took inspiration by the passion and colors of the Polo and Horse racing. This California T is painted in Bianco Italia paint scheme, which has been applied in three-layers. There is also Blu Hellen double-asymmetric stripe that gives a sense of extra sportiness.

SEE ALSO: Ferrari Revealed the Stunning 2015 California T

Last but not least, the wheels of this California T have been also taken care of. They have been finished in Blu Hellen and Argento Nurburgring and come in the dimension of 20-inch.

    Interior

Ferrari California T “Tailor Made” Interior

The blue color is then mirrored throughout the entire interior via the luxurious Blu Sterling upholstery. To make the overall design of the car even more harmonious, the experts at Ferrari added Bianco elements and highlights.

This particular Ferrari California T Tailor Made features new high-tech “Mycro Prestige” fabric material. It has been crafted exclusively for Ferrari. The material is highly resistant and offers an exceptional level of grip. This is because it is comprised of unique mixture of fibers that are only 0.7mm thick.

This also contributes for the reduction of one-third of the weight of the traditional leather. Other benefits are that the Mycro Prestige fabric is flameproof, water resistant, but porous and breathable.

Ferrari California T “Tailor Made” will be on display inside the Ferrari VIP hospitality enclosure for Ferrari clients. This is also where they will have the opportunity to see a comprehensive Tailor Made display of materials. The only aim is to inspire clients in taking action in personalizing their own Ferraris.
