  • Brabus 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

The new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake has arrived! And like the first CLS that created a market for four-door coupes, the new five-door model redefines the sporty-elegant wagon. The exclusive final touch in the form of a sophisticated refinement program is now available from BRABUS.

The extensive product lineup starts with sporty-elegant aerodynamic-enhancement components for all Shooting Brake models with or without AMG sport package, and features custom-tailored BRABUS wheels with diameters of up to 20″. Also part of the BRABUS portfolio are exclusive interior options and engine tuning that delivers up to 619HP (455 kW) of power, 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).

Sporty-elegant styling paired with aerodynamic efficiency is the trademark of all BRABUS body kits. As always, the body components for the new CLS Shooting Brake were developed in the wind tunnel. They are manufactured from flexible Pur-R-Rim high-grade plastics or from carbon fibers depending on the version.

The CLS 250 and 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY diesel models and the CLS 350 and 500 BlueEFFICIENCY with production aerodynamics outfit can be upgraded with the BRABUS front spoiler, the BRABUS front fascia attachments with integrated LED daytime running lights, the sport fenders and the BRABUS side skirts with integrated entrance lights.

For vehicles equipped with AMG sport package BRABUS offers a striking BRABUS front spoiler lip that attaches to the underside of the front fascia. The CLS 63 AMG can be refined with an additional front spoiler and fender attachments with backlit BRABUS logo. Their clear-coated carbon-fiber construction lends the sport wagon full-blooded racing looks.

BRABUS Monoblock wheels in sizes ranging from 8.5J x 17″ to 10.5J x 20″ also play a major role in the exclusive BRABUS looks of the new CLS Shooting Brake. The OEM-quality alloy wheels are available in six different designs. The most exclusive version on offer features BRABUS Monoblock F, Q or R designs with a diameter of 20 inches. The latest addition to the wheel family is the BRABUS Monoblock R wheel with especially innovative design. Two sets of five double spokes are arranged in two plains. While the inner set of spokes is painted a “Liquid Titanium” shade, the outer spokes are diamond-polished and afterwards sealed with a smoke-colored clear lacquer, lending the wheel its very own character. The largest tires supplied by BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA for the 20-inch version come in size 255/30 ZR 20 in front and in size 295/25 ZR 20 for the rear axle.

The BRABUS suspension options are specifically calibrated to the use of sporty low-profile tires. They were developed in tandem with technology partner BILSTEIN. The lineup ranges from BRABUS sport springs to complete suspensions and the BRABUS suspension module that lowers the ride height of cars equipped with the semi-active AIRMATIC air suspension system by about 35 millimeters.

BRABUS offers the world’s largest program of performance tuning for Mercedes-Benz automobiles. The ECO PowerXtra D4 performance kit bumps the power output of the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY by 31HP (23 kW) and boosts peak torque to 560 Nm (446 lb-ft).

For the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY there is BRABUS ECO PowerXtra D6S tuning. Thanks to its plug-and-play design the auxiliary control unit can be installed by any authorized Mercedes-Benz workshop and any BRABUS center of competence in less than 45 minutes.

As a special feature this high-tech performance tuning system allows the driver to influence the power yield through the selection of the transmission program of the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearbox. In Eco mode only peak torque is increased, from standard 620 Nm to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. This selection leaves the maximum power output unchanged. If sport mode is activated or gears are shifted manually, the increase in peak torque is accompanied by a boost in power output from 265HP (195 kW) to 313HP (230 kW) at a low 3,600 rpm. 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph).

It goes without saying that BRABUS performance tuning is also available for the gasoline-powered versions of the CLS Shooting Brake. The BRABUS B50 – 500 performance tuning was developed for the V8 Biturbo engine of the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY. As the name indicates, this tuning kit produces  500HP (368 kW) and a peak torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) and in conjunction with the BRABUS Vmax unit gives the wagon a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

Two ultra-powerful tuning options are available for the top-of-the-line CLS 63 AMG model. Both BRABUS power upgrades for the 5.5-liter eight-cylinder Biturbo engine comprise an auxiliary control unit for the engine electronics and an additional water-to-air intercooler powered by an auxiliary electric pump. In both cases the lower temperature of the charge air benefits not only power yield but also engine longevity even under extreme operating conditions. After the installation of the BRABUS B63 – 620 version the driver commands 619HP (455 kW) of power at a low 5,500 rpms. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 900 to 1.000 Nm (663 to 737 lb-ft), on tap between 2,250 and 3,750 rpm. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph) that the car attains in conjunction with the BRABUS V/max unit.

As an ideal complement to the engine tuning, BRABUS offers a sport exhaust system with butterfly valve for the CLS 63. At the push of a button on the steering wheel the driver can switch between a discrete and quiet “Coming Home” mode and “Sport,” which produces a decidedly sporty exhaust note. The stainless-steel exhaust system also adds some visual highlights with its two beautifully styled ceramic-coated dual tailpipes.

For all other CLS engines BRABUS offers fully stainless-steel quad sport exhaust systems. The precision-calibrated exhaust systems also optimize power yield and produce a sportier exhaust note.

A BRABUS clutch-type limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40% optimizes traction and handling in fast corners on all CLS versions.

All BRABUS engines are operated with MOTUL high-performance lubricants and like all BRABUS components are backed by the one-of-a-kind BRABUS limited tuning warranty of three years up to 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions, updated November 2006).

Exclusive interior design that leaves nothing to be desired is yet another BRABUS specialty that comes to life in the company upholstery shop. The product lineup for the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake ranges from attractive accessories to custom-tailored interiors crafted from especially soft, breathable and highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara. Scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, a speedometer with 340-km/h or 400-km/h dial (211 or 250 mph) and the tables for the rear compartment that attach to the back of the front seats add sporty highlights as do decidedly sporty aluminum components such as pedal pads, door-lock pins and shift paddles for the steering wheel. High-end clear-coated carbon-fiber inlays for dashboard and center console in any desired color are also part of the program as are wood inlays in any desired color and with any desired grain.

To top it all off, BRABUS offers a custom-tailored multimedia concept for the five-door CLS – including the integration of an Apple iPad if desired.

  • 2013 Smart Forstars makes world premiere at Paris Motor Show

2013-Smart-Forstars-THUMBThe exclusive and indescribably beautiful 2013 Smart ForStars is going to make its first world appearance in Paris later this month. The electrically driven vehicle is a coupé with room for two people and plenty of storage space.

But why it carries this new name? It is because the newly developed glass roof above the passengers that gives a clear view of the starry sky. At the same time it hints at the integration of a video projector in the front bonnet.

The colour of the expressive coupé is painted in the “alubeam rouge” color. This creates an outstanding contrast to the matt metallic titanium colou of the tridion safety cell. Furthermore the 60 kW magneto-electric motor delivered by smart BRABUS electric drive makes the zero-emission smart forstars agile and lively. The new Smart model also retains the compact dimensions which are typical for the brand; it is exactly 3550/1710/1505 mm in length/width/height.

The wide range of technologies is also featured in the car. The media player of the projector integrated in the front bonnet is operated via Bluetooth® from an iPhone®. A high-quality sound system with additional loudspeakers in the ventilation openings behind the doors enables the drive-in cinema experience.

It is obvious that the new Smart model has striking new appearance and in fact its silhouette offers a look at brand’s future design philosophy. The rhombic design of the front and rear lamps is grabs the attention immediately.

A newly created detail is the “eyebrows” with new U-shaped look above the front headlamps. The charging socket for the high-voltage battery is found inside the right-hand tail light, whilst the left-hand one has space for a beverage can.

One of the most striking design features here is the glass roof above the passengers’ heads. It joins seamlessly with the glass cover over the cargo area which opens upwards.

Shiny black trims that continue below the side skirts draw the attention to the wheel cutouts. The new vehicle runs on Michelin sports tyres in 245/35 ZR 21 size.

And if one takes the look at the interior, one should have the feeling as if they are in a spaceshoip from the future. Sleek, taut surfaces in mother-of-pearl white combined with precisely designed technical functional elements in brushed aluminium are all around the cabin. The “alubeam rouge” creates the link with the exterior.

Very stylish and functional, Smart ForStars has seat shells, which are open in the middle and are covered with a soft fabric throw giving them a hammock-like seating feel. The graphic elements and different red tones of the covers show a progression and thus underline the dynamism and the very trendy aspect of the vehicle.

The seats are wrapped with high-quality white bag leather with exquisite white piping. Another sophisticated contrast here is the featured perforated leather in the door paneling.

Undeniably, the cockpit boasts aerodynamic styling. The control and display elements are oriented to the driver. An interesting element is that the two-spoke steering wheel is open at the top.

The rear-view mirror is replaced by a smartphone. It is placed in a holder at the top of the windscreen. The driver can see the road condition behind with the help of an integrated video camera. The smartphone also serves as a media source and controls the projector.

At last but not least, the new 2013 Start ForStars Electric drive brings more driving excitement to a new level and moreover has a zero local emissions. The electric drive of the car is based on the innovative drive concept of the smart fortwo BRABUS electric drive.

The output of the magneto-electric motor here has been increased to 82 kW (60 kW). With 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque it boasts powerful, lag-free acceleration, agility and driving excitement. The vehicle has a top speed of around 80 mph and the lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 17.6 kWh.

  • 2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Bullit Coupe 800

2012-Brabus-Mercedes-Benz-C-63-AMG-Bullit-Coupe-800-ThumbThe exceptional Brabus Bullit Coupe 800 is a powerful and ultrafast vehicle based on the two-door Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG model. It will make its’ first appearance at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, where the public will have the opportunity to take a close look at it. Instead of the 6.3-liter V8 engine, which powers the production car, a twelve-cylinder engine in BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo specification dwells beneath the matte-black exterior. It delivers the breathtaking 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW and has a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). This makes possible for the 2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Bullit Coupe 800 to accelerate in 3.7 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph), and in 23.8 seconds from 0 – 300 km/h (186 mph). The top speed is 370 km/h (230 mph). The supercar is also equipped with 20-inch BRABUS Monoblock R wheels, a sport suspension with customer-selectable ride height and damper rates, a high-performance brake system and exclusive cockpit design.

Numerous modifications to the reinforced C-Class body of the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG were necessary to implant the turbocharged V12 into the engine bay. The BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine is derived directly from the BRABUS E V12 one of ten. For this purpose an up-to-date Mercedes S 600 engine Motor is completely reengineered in the company engine building shop. The three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.) with the help of a special crankshaft with longer stroke, larger, forged pistons and an increase in cylinder bore. Intake and outlet ports of both cylinder heads are optimized for mixture flow, and fitted with sports camshafts. The increase of the horsepower was achieved thank to the newly configured exhaust side. In addition, the BRABUS 800 Biturbo system includes two special exhaust manifolds with integrated high-performance turbochargers, and four water-to-air intercoolers. Furthermore, especially for this version was created the stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts and driver-controlled butterfly valve. The end result is that the engine now produces 800 PS (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm and has a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), which of course is electronically limited in the car to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft). In the car is also mounted a seven-speed automatic transmission, which is shifted either automatically or manually via shift paddles on the steering wheel. Therefore, it is no surprise that the acceleration time of the car from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) is just in 3.7 seconds. The top speed is more than 370 km/h (230 mph).

    2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Bullit Coupe 800
    2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Bullit Coupe 800

The extraordinary looks of the BRABUS BULLIT Coupe 800 is accompanied by the new BRABUS Monoblock R wheels. Their design includes two times five double spokes arranged on two different plains. While the posterior plain has a titanium paint finish, the anterior surfaces are polished and coated with a smoke-colored clear lacquer, which lends the wheel a highly individual character. They come in sizes of 8.5Jx20 in front and 9.5Jx20. In addition, the high-performance tires are in sizes 235/30 ZR 20 and 275/25 ZR 20 and are supplied Pirelli.

Furthermore, the BRABUS high-performance brake system comprises of vented and grooved steel brake discs that measure 380 x 37 millimeters (15.0 x 1.45 in.) and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers in the front. They are combined with vented and grooved steel discs (360 x 28 millimeters (14.2 x 1.1 in.)) and six-piston fixed aluminum calipers on the rear axle.

The interior in the cockpit of the Brabus Bullit Coupe 800 is sporty and exquisite. The upholstery is a combination of black leather and Alcantara, which of course matches the outer skin. Red contrasting seams add discrete sporty highlights. The final look is made by the genuine carbon-fiber components on the dashboard, center console and door trim. The steering wheel as well as aluminum pedals and shifter also add to the sporty look of the car.

  • 2012 Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate 120 Cabrio

2012-Brabus-Smart-ForTwo-Ultimate-120-Cabrio-THUMBThis limited-edition city sports car is based on the latest evolution of the Smart Fortwo Cabrio and is a successor of the limited-edition models Ultimate 101, Ultimate 112, Ultimate R and Ultimate Style. It carries the name Brabus Ultimate 120, which indicates that this two seater cabrio is a supercar with 120 hp (118 bhp) / 88.3 kW. Moreover, it has a top speed of 170 km/h (112 mph), which will be built in a small-series production run limited to just 120 consecutively numbered cars. The exclusive examples are in different color according to customers specifications and also include WIDESTAR wide-body version with forged BRABUS Monoblock F 18-inch wheels and an all-leather interior. At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Brabus will showcase an intense metallic red ULTIMATE 120. It immediately catches the eye with its muscular BRABUS WIDESTAR body kit with front spoiler, side sills and BRABUS WIDESTAR fender flares front and back. In addition, the large wheel wells offers space for a tire/wheel combination that is highly unusual in this vehicle class and design: the new BRABUS Monoblock F “Platinum Edition” forged wheels are mounted on the front axle in size 7Jx18 with size 205/35 R 18 high-performance tires. Size 8.5Jx18 wheels with size 235/30 R 18 tires in the rear provide plenty of grip for transferring the power of 120 horses to the asphalt with no slip. Further transformations are delivered by the height-adjustable BRABUS coilover suspension. It has been custom-calibrated to the ultra-low-profile tires and the wider track. Additionally, it combines direct and safe handling with great ride comfort. And the excellent stopping power and optimum durability is provided by the BRABUS high-performance brake system with cross-drilled discs and four-piston fixed calipers painted in body color on the front axle. The engine is a powerful BRABUS three-cylinder turbocharged one. As I already mentioned, it develops maximum power output of 120 hp (118 bhp) / 88.3 kW at 6,000 rpm with peak torque of 160 Nm (118 lb-ft), available between 2,250 and 3,750 rpm.

The gears in the 2012 Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate 120 Cabrio are shifted either automatically or manually – with shift paddles on the ergonomically shaped BRABUS steering wheel that has a diameter of just 34 centimeters (13.4 inches). The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 8.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph). And to make the driving experience even more enjoyable, the performance is accompanied acoustically by the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system with two chrome-plated tailpipes.

Furthermore, the tuned vehicle includes a spectacular interior:  it is entirely wrapped in especially soft and breathable black BRABUS Mastik leather with red contrasting seams which match the exterior. For the perfect comfort, it is equipped with Recaro Sportster seats, which are also wrapped in the finest BRABUS leather and their seat shells are painted in the same color of the exterior. A great attention is put on the details too, some of which were painted in the body color: the speedometer, the tach and clock including the instrument bezels, dashboard molding, turn signal stalks and door handles. In addition, BRABUS stainless-steel pedals as well as an aluminum shifter and emergency-brake lever create pure balance in the interior.

The MSRP for a 2012 Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate 120 Cabrio starts at EUR 45 900.

  • Brabus Smart Electric Drive and Smart ebike

Brabus-Smart-Fortwo-ED-and-ebike-thumbBrabus have been known to the world as a company that produces mad, torque bursting Daimler cars (Mercedes-Benz cars mostly). But they also have 10 years of experience with the Smart label and this year at the Geneva Motor Show, the public will be presented with the Brabus Smart Fortwo electric drive and the Brabus Smart ebike – ideas for future sports mobility.

“Like all smart Brabus vehicles these two new models follow our philosophy of more style, more power and more exclusiveness”, says Bodo Buschmann, CEO of the Bottrop customiser Brabus. “In addition to classic Brabus customers they also appeal to smart electric drive customers who attach importance to environmental friendliness and also want even more sportiness and exclusiveness. Or to put it another way: we give the sporty soul a green heart.”

With the Brabus Fortwo electric drive, the company has further improved on its principles – maximum driving fun, now with zero emissions. The electric motor in the Brabus product is based on the standard forwto unit but with 60 kW of power it takes the lead among conventional Smarts. Torque is also up to 135 Nm and constantly available as expected from an EV. The ride has been lowered thanks to a Brabus suspension and with the addition of Brabus “Monoblock VII” alloy wheels measuring 16″ at the front and 17″ the sporty feel is almost complete. The thing that could have been left behind is the sound module – a device that produces fake engine noises is as useful as a smartphone Zippo application.

Other than that the exterior and interior is very pleasant. Those green and black motives on the finish and the trimmings make the Fortwo look like a training shoe… or an energy drink can. Dark Brabus headlamps add a dash of aggression while Brabus Xclusive aerodynamic body styling parts (a front spoiler and a special rear apron insert with double reflectors) complete the outside look. Inside, leather covers the seats and instrument and door panels. The dashboard and the hand-brake handle are custom made by Brabus (and so is the clock). A sports stearing wheel and gear lever leave the cockpit distinctive and compleate.

The Smart Brabus ebike also ticks out all the Brabus essentials for a successful project – more style, more power and more exclusiveness. An overall black frame with green leather handles and a green seat leaves the impression that the Fortwo and the ebike are related. Also in contrasting green are the pedals and the various nuts and bolts scattered all over the bike. A four-piston calliper is fixed upon the the front wheel disk while the wheels themselves have a unique four-spoke design made from carbon fiber. Other ways to tell that this isn’t your everyday Smart ebike is by looking at the Sport Contact tyres, weight-optimised cranks and pedals and the carbon seatpost.

With 500 watts the electric motor is twice as powerful as that on the Smart ebike. Because of all the carbon fiber components, the ebike is also 10 percent lighter. The assistance from the motor is regulated by four level with the forth one being the highest. Ultimately the ebike is capable of speeds of up to 45 km/h – a road legal bike!

  • Brabus B-class project

2012-Brabus-B-Class-thumbThere’s a new Brabus exterior program for the new Mercedes B-Class. All alterations made on the body are not only visual but purposeful as well – aerodynamic enhancements thanks to the OEM quality high-grade Pur-R-Rim plastic components.

The Brabus provided front spoiler is an attachment for the standard bumper and deals with the prevention of front axle lift. There’s also an attachment for the rear fascia which has been thoughtfully cut out in order to house the Brabus quad sport exhaust system.

There’s a lot to choose when it comes to wheels. The B-Class can come with 8.5Jx19 Monoblock E, F, Q and S versions. In the gallery provided, the car actually uses two different pairs of wheels on each side – Monoblock F, cross-spoke wheels on the right and Monoblock Q, five double-spoke ones on the left. The best tires one can wrap around those wheels are in sizes 225/35 R 19 at the front and 255/30 R 19 at the rear axle.

Brabus have also introduced new springs to the suspension which are specifically designed to work with the standards dampers, yet the ride height is reduced by 30 mm.

Power tweaks for all versions of the B-Class come from the already applied Brabus sport rear muffler with four chrome-plated tailpipes. The Brabus ECO PowerXtra performance kits for the direct-injection gasoline and diesel engines are in the final stages of development.

Bi-color stainless-steel scuff plates with Brabus logos on them and aluminum door lock pins and pedal pads add to the exclusivity inside. Also the upholstery is akin to a that in a lounge. Upon request a multimedia equipment can also be fitted which comes with an iPad
