  • Mercedes-Benz s63 AMG Reworked by Brabus

2014 Brabus Mercedes-Benz s63 AMGMercedes-Benz S63 has caught the attention of German tuner Brabus and has turned into its latest project once again. Along with a speedometer updated to 400 km/h, the new S63 receives an exquisite satin gold exterior finish as well.

Starting with the power plant, the S63 AMG by Brabus retains the original twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter engine. This time around it no longer generates 585 HP (430 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). Thanks to the significant rework by the tuner, now the engine delivers a 850 HP (625 kW) at 5,400 rpm and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque in the 2,500 – 4,500 rpm range.

Even though there has not been confirmed any performance data, Brabus Mercedes-Benz S63 is going to be quicker than the well-known stock model in rear wheel drive configuration. The base car requires 4.4 seconds until it reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) while the 4MATIC version is able to achieve it in 4 seconds. Initially, Mercedes-Benz is offering the S63 AMG with a 155 mph (250 km/h) electronic top speed limiter but due to Brabus’ previous project this figure is increased to 202 mph (325 km/h).

The refined Mercedes arrives with new aerodynamic features too. For instance, the luxury sedan is equipped with carbon fiber front air intake surrounds, a carbon front splitter, carbon components behind the front wheels and carbon wing mirrors. There is a bootlid lip spoiler, quad tailpipes and aggressively looking carbon fiber diffuser installed by Brabus.

  • Mansory Crafts a 1000 HP Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG S63

mansory-mercedes-benz-s-class-amg-s63The latest tuning of Mansory that we recall is this on the Rolls-Royce Ghost II and it was amazing and very beautiful. This one is not as versatile in colors and styling but in terms of power – it is definitely mind-blowing. This time the tuning attention was paid to Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG S63. Of course, to support the boost in power, the sporty elegance of the Mercedes was enhanced via a special aerodynamic programme.

The latter comprises of several styling and aero components such as a front spoiler with adapted LED daytime running lights, the new bonnet and the new roof and rear lips. The rear apron was designed in a diffuser look.

The sporty appearance was further strengthened with new side skirts and widened front wings as well as the carbon housing of the rear-view mirror. In addition, Mansory’s sports exhaust is responsible for a throaty and imposing sound. The back of the car is entirely redesigned. The rear silencer is made from stainless steel with its angular twin tailpipes.

Speaking of performance, the eight cylinder twin turbo engine of the AMG S63 received some tweaks such as high performance components. In accordance with client’s wish the tuners provide choice of two upgrades for the powerplant.

The first one is called M800 variant and it helps the unit produce a total of 800 hp (588 kW) at 4,750 rpm. The torque grows to 1,200 Nm (886 lb-ft) at 1,700 – 3,500 rpm. If you wonder about how the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h has changed, well, it was reduced to 3.6 seconds (production version: 4.0 seconds).

Next, the M1000 performance kit comprises of connecting rods, big end bearings, crankshaft, bearing bushings, turbocharger, suction and compressor system. Together with the new pipe fan manifolds they help the engine produce instead of 585 hp (430 kW) an impressive 1,000 hp (735 kW). The maximum torque has climbed to 1,400 Nm (1033 lb-ft) at 1,500 – 3,500 rpm. So when fired up, the saloon rockets to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds on its way to an electronically regulated 300 km/h.

All this power has to be transmitted onto the road with the appropriate tyres. Here, the tuners have developed one-piece 22 inch Multispoke alloy wheels that were fitted with Vredestein tyres in size 255/30/ZR22 on the front axle and 295/25/ZR22 on the rear axle.

The cabin received only minor updates such as aluminium pedals and newly designed steering wheel. There are also new foot mats, framed in leather with embroidered Mansory emblem, as well as the illuminated door sill trims.

  • Mercedes-Benz Takes the Wraps off the SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition

Well, well, the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has every reason to celebrate after the past remarkable Formula 1 season, which was really marked by the drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg and their impressive performance which dominated in almost every race. In order to praise its achievements, the Stuttgart-based automaker has decided to unveil a SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s edition. It will be limited to 19 units only.

Still though, Mercedes has not announced officially if the SL63 World Championship Collector’s Edition has gained performance improvements. Nevertheless, the regular SL63 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 which produces 529 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque. It will be able to sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 186 mph.

After the wraps have been taken off the SL63 AMG World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition, we are introduced to a car which is offered in black with gold accents or in white with silver touches. Interestingly enough, both Hamilton and Rosberg assisted in the development of the special SL63. The black car is said to be designed by Hamilton who took care of the gold elements.

Hamilton’s edition features the Silverstone Grand Prix track on the floor mats, key fob, and dashboard, while Rosberg’s car has the Hockenheim layout, special badge, key fob and floor carpets.

    More is yet to come.

  • Mercedes-Benz Shows First Teaser of GLE AMG Sports Range

Mercedes-Benz-GLE-Coupe-THUMBMercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is scheduled to debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January next year. Two teaser images were just revealed next to the news for the expansion of the range of the AMG Sport lineup. One of the cars depict on the image is the C450 AMG Sport and the other is probably the future GLE Coupe AMG Sport. AMG Sport’s will offer enhanced performance and technical refinements and will fill the gap between the AMG Sports package for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the classic AMG models.

In addition, the lineup will feature updated engines, standard all-wheel drive and special chassis components and brake systems. The GLE Coupe is actually the old M-Class, which is expected to change the name after the future release of the facelift model.

This means that we can expect similar engine range: a 329 hp (242 kW) twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter petrol V6 or the 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 which produces more than 570 hp (419 kW).

There is no other information on the previewed cars, but if we look very closely we will see that the SUV has a coupe-like roofline. In other words it definitely looks like the Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe that we saw debuting at the Beijing Motor Show.

The Concept Coupe is powered by V6 engine with a displacement of 2996 cc. Its output has been rated at 333 hp (245 kW) at 5500 rpm and torque at 480 Nm (353 lb-ft) at 1400- 4000 rpm. The unit is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with torque converter lock-up. If our suggestion is right then we will see exactly these figures in Detroit.

  • Meet the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe

    2015-MB-front_thumb2015-MB-front_651

The German luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz has proudly presented its latest and greatest model – the ultra luxurious and very powerful 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe model. The car packs awesome looks, a great interior and a new 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo gasoline engine that is more powerful and fuel-efficient than ever.

Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH explains: “The new S63 AMG Coupe is another exciting AMG dream car in the luxury segment. Now the S-Class Coupe also comes with performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive – as we rigorously pursue our all-wheel-drive initiative. Mercedes-AMG is putting the pedal to the metal again in the new year. Our model initiative is set to continue at blistering pace in 2014.”

The new car is full of new features and functions – it is up to 128 pounds (58 kg) lighter than its predecessor even though it comes with more standard equipment than before. The weight savings was achieved largely via the use of a lightweight lithium-ion battery, optional AMG forged light-alloy wheels and a weight-optimized AMG high-performance composite braking system. Furthermore, the entire outer skin and the front end of the body are made of aluminium. As you can imagine the lower weight improves driving dynamics and cuts on fuel consumption, moreover the low power-to-weight ratio results in impressive performance: the S63 AMG Coupe accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 km/h) in an estimated 3.9 seconds and goes on to reach an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph (299 km/h).

These results are possible thanks to the powerful AMG 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo engine that remains one of the most efficient series-produced V8 engines of all. The unit delivers 577 HP (424 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Compared to the previous CL63 AMG model, the new engine brings 41 HP and 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) of power, yet it needs less fuel.

The new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe also comes with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission. It brings maximum agility and exciting dynamics and drivers can configure their own personal set-up, depending on their driving style. There are three modes to choose from: “C” (Controlled Efficiency), “S” (Sport) and “M” (Manual). The ECO start/stop function is fitted as standard.

The car also features an AMG sport exhaust system with automatic logic-controlled exhaust flaps in both rear exhaust pipes. When the transmission is in “C” (Controlled Efficiency) mode, the flaps remain closed in most situations, in which case the eight-cylinder bi-turbo engine’s sound is more understated. In “S” (Sport) and “M” (Manual) modes, the exhaust flaps open earlier and more spontaneously, especially if the driver prefers a dynamic driving style. The result is an even fuller, hallmark AMG emotive engine sound. Moreover, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe has permanent AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive. When driving 33 per cent of the engine torque gets sent to the front axle and 67 per cent to the rear axle. The rear-biased power distribution provides the signature AMG high driving dynamics and superlative driving enjoyment as well as boosting acceleration from a standing start. The all-wheel drive also enhances driving safety on wet or wintry road surfaces when equipped with winter tires. Optimum traction is guaranteed by a multi-disc clutch with a locking effect of 37 lb-ft (50 Nm), which maximizes the frictional connection potential of all four wheels.

The list of features goes on – the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe comes with a full air-suspension AIRMATIC system with an adaptive ADS PLUS damping system. Specific front axle kinematics – including higher camber, a larger anti-roll bar and a stiffer subframe carrier on the rear axle – have been developed exclusively for the S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe. These measures enhance the vehicle’s agility for performance driving.

As this is not enough the guys at Mercedes will also allow you to get some features as options. This is valid for the AMG forged light-alloy wheels. This design reduces weight while at the same time increasing strength. The lower unsprung masses result in advantages in terms of handling and spring/damper element response.Optional wheels include 10-spoke forged wheels painted in titanium grey with a polished finish – 8.5 x 20 at the front and 9.5 x 20 at the rear, with 255/40 R 20 and 285/35 R 20 tires respectively. The forged wheels feature a high-quality, screwable and fully integrated wheel bolt cover made of forged aluminium. Its shape is reminiscent of a center lock as seen in motorsport. The AMG logo is integrated into one of the ten spokes. These forged wheels are also available painted in matte black with a high-sheen rim flange. A high-performance composite brake system is also an option for the first time. The car comes equipped with a weight-optimized, fade-resistant AMG high- performance composite brake system. An AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system is available as an option. This design, which is more than 20 percent lighter, ensures lower unsprung masses and enhanced braking performance.

There’s no need to say that the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe is full of luxury and features great looks. The front end of the car is dominated by the three-dimensional AMG “twin-blade” radiator grille in silver shadow (a matte silver finish). Whether in motion or stationary, distinctive AMG lettering between the twin-blade lamellas leaves no doubt: this is a high-performance model from Affalterbach. The A-wing is located below the radiator grille. This three-dimensional air-ducting element is painted in the body color, spans the entire width of the front apron and displays the stylized “A” that is a hallmark of AMG vehicles. Large, black flics surround the outer cooling air intakes. Down below, the front splitter in silver shadow optimizes the flow of air to the cooling modules. This design feature, which is a familiar sight in motorsport, also reduces front-axle lift and enhances the vehicle’s aerodynamic balance.Further eye-catching features include the large AMG designed wheels. “V8 BITURBO” lettering in a new, contemporary typography on the front wings is another hallmark AMG design touch. On the inside the car surprises in a good way too – the instrument panel almost seamlessly transitions into the doors in a wrap- around design. High-quality materials and fine workmanship are combined with a sporty and exclusive design idiom. The newly developed AMG sport seats with power adjustment, memory function and seat heating/ventilation offer the driver and front passenger optimum lateral support. Fine AMG design Nappa leather with piping together with AMG badges on all four seat backrests and an embossed AMG emblem on the armrest of the front center console create an exquisite atmosphere.

The new three-spoke AMG sport steering wheel with its distinctively contoured rim and perforated leather in the grip area allows perfect vehicle control. There is an AMG logo in the lower metal insert, and new aluminum shift paddles shorten the reaction time when changing gears to enhance performance. Another feature displaying the hallmark AMG look is the high-resolution TFT color AMG instrument cluster with two animated round dials. In addition to the specific lettering and the needles in red/silver, further distinctive design features include the AMG start-up display, the AMG logo in the speedometer 200 mph scale (left) and the “V8 BITURBO” lettering in the rev counter (right).

The new, innovative touchpad, included as standard equipment, makes it significantly easier to operate the radio, telephone and navigation system. The safety and assistance systems are the same as those for the S550 4MATIC Coupe.

Interested in the car? The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe had its world premiere at the 2014 New York International Auto Show in April of this year and US customers will be able to get the car sometime this fall. No word on pricing as of now.

  • Carlsson Tunes the AMG Version of Mercedes-Benz C-Class

2014-Carlsson-Mercedes-Benz-C-Class-AMG-W205-THUBMWe are already very well familiar with Carlsson’s tuning involving the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. However, what we haven’t seen yet is how the customizing specialists will handle the AMG version of the car. The stunning result of their work, 2014 Carlsson Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG W205, is a re-interpretation of the sporty AMG Sports Package version, with a stunning conversion that comprising of an aerodynamic styling package.

The package includes adjustable sports suspension, alloy wheels in classic design as well as a myriad of bespoke interior trim possibilities. Performance improvements for all the engine variants are currently under development.

Despite the sporty and confident appearance of the C-Class AMG, Carlsson’s designers have additionally enhanced the looks of the car with their own distinctive styling signature. The goal was to extend the original theme harmoniously. At the front we see this philosophy working via the replacement of the separate air-splitter of the AMG front apron with Carlsson spoiler lip.

At the back of this tuned Mercedes, we see an elegantly shaped spoiler that sits on the edge of the bootlid. The underbody air diffuser can either be colour-coded or painted in a contrasting colour. Each side of the diffuser includes a cutout that frames a pair of Carlsson’s signature exhaust tailpipes.

The engineers at Carlsson have developed two levels of suspension upgrades. The first one is the basic option, which comprises of a set of four Carlsson sports springs that work with the standard dampers. They serve in terms of lowering the ride height by 30mm for a sportier look and better handling. The second option is a height adjustable coil-over suspension kit. It allows the driver the ability to adjust the ride height as well as bounce and rebound control.

This Carlson model runs on Carlsson 1/10 wheels in either a Brilliant or Titanium Editions. There is also 1/10 Graphite Edition and 1/16 RS Diamond and Titanium Editions, which are also available.

Inside, the interior of the vehicle includes polished aluminium scuff plates with an illuminated Carlsson logo for driver and aluminium door lock pins, pedal set and footrest, all with the logo. There is also a four-piece floor mat set from soft black velour. It features front mats carrying tuning company’s logo in white stitching. The available illuminated floor mats set is made of soft velour. Here the Carlsson logo is illuminated in stylish white on the front mats.
