There is also a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine coupled with a TorqueFlite electronic 8-speed automatic transmission. It develops 370HP (272 kW) and 535Nm (395 lb-ft) of torque. The SRT8 model has a 6.4 liter HEMI V8 with 470HP (346 kW) and 637Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque, which is mentioned in the first clip (below).

The ad says “Here it is, the 470HP HEMI V8, butt kicking,  Mötley Crüe blasting Volkswagen Passat. No, I’m just kidding, it’s a Charger.”

    Enjoy!

  • VW offers Modular Transverse Matrix on the Golf and Golf GTI

    2015-VW-Golf-GTI_thumb2015-VW-Golf-GTI_651

Volkswagen fans that live in the United States will be treated with the so-called Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB in short in German) technology given they choose to purchase one of the all-new VW Golf or Golf GTI now. According to Dr. Hubertus Lemke, Head of Technical Project Management in Volkswagen’s Research & Development Division, the MQB strategy represents a milestone in the design and production of future automobiles with transverse-mounted engines.

Modular Transverse Matrix may sound complicated but this technology standardizes many vehicle component parameters across various vehicle classes, starting with sub-compact cars and going through mid-size SUV segments. Later the technology will be used in the Jetta, Passat and upcoming VW mid-sized SUVs, which means that at least in theory, these models, including the Golf and Golf GTI may be produced on the same assembly line.

One of the prominent characteristics of the Modular Transverse Matrix is the uniform mounting position of all engines, including the new modular diesel engine system (MDB), also known as EA288. The standardized engine position, combined with implementation of the EA288 TDI Clean Diesel engine and the new EA211 gasoline engine, will reduce the Group’s engine and gearbox variants by approximately 90 percent. MQB also enables fitment of all current alternative drive concepts without compromise — from compressed natural gas and hybrid versions to a pure electric powertrain. The e-Golf that goes on sale in the last quarter of 2014 in the U.S. uses the MQB architecture as well and is built on the same line in Wolfsburg as other Golf versions.

In the long run MQB will present Volkswagen Group with new opportunities, including the possibility to produce high-volume and niche models of the highest quality at competitive prices as the technology gets introduced globally. In addition MQB will allow VW to tailor vehicles for different and diverse markets that include Europe, China, India, USA and others. One of the positive effects of MQB is that the new Golf and Golf GTI now come with the new Automatic Post-Collision Braking System – after an initial collision, it helps to reduce the intensity of secondary collisions by automatically applying the brakes. It is now standard equipment on the new Golf and Golf GTI.

  • Eibach Volkswagen Polo R WRC Offers Everyday Rally Experience

Eibach-VW-Polo-R-WRC-THUMBEibach decided to make some changes to one of Volkswagen’s small and high-performance cars, the Polo R WRC. The model is one of the best VW has ever produced and it draws upon company’s successful rally experience. This derivative is the fastest Polo ever created and this is due to the Golf’s GTI’s 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine. The unit generates 220 horsepower (162 kW) and 348 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

The power is sent to front wheels with the help of a short-shift six-speed manual transmission. The performance figures are the following: Polo R WRC can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6.4 seconds under its way reaching a top speed of 243 km/h (151 mph); it can return 31.6 mpg (7.4 liters/100 km) and emit 174 g/km CO2.

By adding Eibach suspension components, the motorsport heritage of the vehicle has been further improved. This however does not affect the day to day character of the car. To be more precise, the tuners have added a Pro-Kit Performance Springs, which reduce the Polo‘s centre of gravity. This means that by doing so, the car now has a sportier stance with a more agile handling.

Next, the customization specialists included here Eibach Anti-Roll-Kit Performance Sway Bars. They come do minimize body roll and also enhance cornering stability. At last, the perfect look and assertive appearance of the model is ensured by the Pro-Spacer Wheel Spacers made of aluminum.

  • Volkswagen recalls certain Golf vehicles

    2015-VW-Golf_thumb2015-VW-Golf_651

The US branch of Volkswagen has issued a voluntary safety recall that affects the front stabilizer rods on certain 2015 model year Golf GTI and Golf vehicles.

The number of affected cars reaches 2001, all from model year 2015. The problem with these vehicles is that the fasteners that secure the front stabilizer rods may become loose over time. In such an event drivers will experience considerable noise that comes from the front of the vehicle. In certain, but rare, cases this malfunction may lead to the rod detaching and interfering with the vehicle’s steering, which will lead to increased steering effort. Unfortunately in certain cases this may lead to vehicle crashes and potential injuries, including death.

Volkswagen has announced that it will replace the front stabilizer rods on all affected vehicles. The good news is that no accidents or injuries have been reported so far. You do not have to check your car – Volkswagen will notify all owners of affected vehicles and will instruct them where to find a VW dealer and schedule an appointment to get the problem fixed.

The initial Tiguan model will be based on the standard wheelbase that we are familiar with and have seen in the first generation version of the vehicle. It will measure length of 2605 mm and will feature two rows of seats that ca accommodate up to five occupants.

The second specification of the Tiguan will have a long wheelbase. In this way the car will deliver additional rear legroom as well as a third row of seats. This means that the long wheelbase Tiguan will accommodate up to seven persons.

While the five-seater will have a debut in Frankfurt, the seven-seater will have its premiere later in 2016 during the auto saloon in Detroit. It will be built specifically for the United States, Middle East and China. However, there are also plans to sell the SUV derivative in Europe.

Furthermore, the engines that will power the new Tiguan will be four-cylinder petrol and diesel. Volkswagen also disclosed that there will be also offered the option of 4Motion all-wheel drive next to the standard front-wheel drive. We expect to see the 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol units as well as the 1.6 and 2.0 diesel ones. There is also a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid engine which VW is currently developing.
