  • R-Line Package Governs the Refreshed Touran

VW Touran R-Line Front ViewVolkswagen Touran in its latest form was previewed last week with the announcement that it goes on sale.  Now, the company is taking advantage of the clamor and is releasing an R-Line variant of the Touran. It will have the main benefits of exclusive new features for the interior and exterior, which will give it unmistakably athletic and dynamic appearance.

The R-Line Package is for the Exterior…

The R-Line Pack comes with characteristic front and rear bumpers. At the front we see two body-colored wing-like air intakes with C-shape gloss black signature and an R-Line logo in the radiator grille. At the opposite side, the rear, there is a sporty bumper contours adorned by a chrome strip.

The sides have distinctive features, too. Such are the high-gloss black side sill extensions, silver anodized roof rails and R-Line logos. And of course it is literally impossible to skip the new alloy wheel rims, offered in a choice of 17- or 18-inch Salvador or Marseille wheels.

    …and for the Interior

Although we don’t have picture of the cabin of the R-Line Touran, VW ensured us that there are a lot of benefits inside. For instance, there are ‘Race’ fabric covers and the extra comfortable front seats, titanium black roof liner, ‘Black Lead Grey’ decorative inlays for the instrument panel and front door panels, fabric floor mats with decorative stitching in ‘Crystal Grey’, front door tread plates in aluminium and pedals in stainless steel. This equipment will definitely create unique ambience and perfect cozy space for the occupants.

The standard steering wheel has been changed with a leather-trimmed multi-function sports steering wheel, which includes decorative aluminium trim and R-Line logo. It is all about sportiness and athleticism for the new Touran, isn’t it?

At last, if you are keen on buying Volkswagen Touran R-Line, then you should know that the package will cost you an extra of €2,155.

  • Refreshed Volkswagen Touran is Available in Showrooms

Volkswagen Touran Front View2015 Volkswagen Touran has new design, more room for its passengers as well as more assistance systems and safety features to show-off with. The better news however is that everyone who has been eagerly waiting for it to debut on market can go directly to the nearby showrooms and purchase the new Touran.

The refreshed family MPV has better design, less weight and sportier attitude. All of this has been combined with various intelligent detailed solutions. The interior has too been completely redesigned. The cargo volume is of up to 1,980 litres, and this fact allows the seats to be folded down flat to merge with the luggage floor.

    Technology Features & Assistance Systems

Another very cool feature in the new Touran is the second generation of the Modular Infotainment System (MIB II). MIB II offers maximum connectivity and includes the “App Connect” Car-Net feature. Other tweaks included here are MirrorLinkTM, Android Auto (Google) and CarPlay (Apple). They will make easier the integration of all different kinds of smartphone apps directly into the infotainment system. This system is also beneficial because two smartphones can now be linked to it simultaneously.

Furthermore, Volkswagen added an electronic voice amplification system, which at first glance might seem a little bit pretentious. But it is actually very cool and will make the things for the driver a little bit more comfortable. In details, this system allows the driver and front passenger to be clearly heard via the hands-free telephone unit and the speakers. They are connected to MPV’s infotainment system, so when they talk to passengers in the second and third rows, there will be no screaming and shouting.

The innovative Automatic Post-Collision Braking system and PreCrash proactive occupant protection system are also featured in the newest Touran. And the great news is that they come as a standard. There are of course other optional assistance systems like the ACC Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with the City Emergency Braking function, Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert and the Trailer Assist trailer manoeuvring assistant.

    Engines

    Volkswagen Touran Side View

Although Volkswagen did not say anything about the CO2 emissions of the completely new TSI and TDI engines in the Touran, they stated that there are two petrols and two diesels prepared for the MPV. Their outputs are 81 kW / 110 PS and 110 kW / 150 PS, respectively.

2015 Volkswagen Touran is currently available in dealerships and can be purchased at a starting price of €23,350.

  • HPerformance and HPA Motorsports Create One-Off Volkswagen Golf R32

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Front and Side ViewHPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 looks amazing on pictures, doesn’t it! But let me tell you a secret: it behaves even better on the road! You might ask why and let me tell you that the reason for this lies not in the additional CO2 (sorry VW), but in the precise and crafty work of the customization specialists at HPerformance and HPA Motorsports.

It seems that the Golf has it all: looks that correspond to its sporty nature, enhanced power output and torque, new rims and rubbers to run on, and throaty exhaust system. This is in summary. But let’s review everything in details. I promise it is worth it.

    Updates for the Engine

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Rear View

HPerformance used own software to optimize the engine. However, to make the end result even better, it had to work in combination with the HPA EFR550 turbo kit. Reinforced piston and conrod and reduced compression also come into play. In addition, water chilled intake manifold was also installed. The air charge compression is variable by means of an electronically adjustable boost controller, thanks to which the new power range might be even surpassed. And it is 550 hp (404 kW) and 730 Nm (539 lb-ft) of torque.

Other Changes for this VW Golf

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Front and Side View

The new exhaust system has 90 mm end pipes and valve command. It was also made in-house, and its purpose is to deliver throaty sound. HRE FF01 rims in 8.5 x 19 inches at all four corners fitted with corresponding tiring are connecting the car and the road. KW variant 2 coilovers and H&R stabilizers on front and rear axle take care for the better suspension characteristics of the Golf. And have I mentioned that the front wings have been enlarged?

If you like the work of HPerformance, then you should also know that they do not work for free. For instance, the total price for this kind of modification will cost you around 35,000 Euro.

  • Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Concept Is Ready for the Road Challenges!

The first plug-in hybrid SUV by Volkswagen, the Tiguan GTE Concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt IAA. This vehicle comes with a total of 228 hp (160 kW) and goes to up to 50 km in the special “E-Mode” which offers complete all-electric zero-emission smooth drive. This relatively long driving range benefits from the especially designed lithium-ion battery and its energy capacity of 13.0 kWh. In optimal driving conditions this installment can cover even 1,000 km of driving range. But this all depends on the regional solar radiation power.  And if you decide to use the combined way of driving, you should know that the vehicle consumes mere 1.9 liter per 100 km.

SEE ALSO: Anniversary Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Celebrates the Spirit of GTI in Frankfurt

The latest VW concept vehicle benefits from a direct-injection turbocharged petrol unit along with the electric motor. This system is further paired to a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox, which was especially designed for this particular vehicle. The additional components include power electronics and charger. The Tiguan GTE can be also driven on Hybrid, Battery Charge and GTE modes. If mode is not selected by the driver, the vehicle automatically drives off in “E-Mode”. Furthermore, the Tiguan reaches a top speed of 130 km/h only with the electric motor.

And the system is precisely fine-tune to switch to Hybrid mode when the battery is exhausted or when there is high demand for power. This all means that the E-Mode is deactivated and the Concept now behaves like a classic full hybrid car.

The driver can press the GTE button to switch to GTE mode which activates the flexible side of the vehicle. This mode is now exclusive feature for all VW vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive system. With the mode engaged, the characteristics of the pedals, gearbox and steering system are noticeably changed to bring more dynamics and flexibility. In addition, the GTE mode, the TSI unit and the electric motor work together in a way, known as “boosting” which makes the full system power and maximum torque available. In this way the Concept has a top speed of 200 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds.

  • Anniversary Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Celebrates the Spirit of GTI in Frankfurt

Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Front ViewVolkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport special edition is based on the concept revealed this year. The production version of the car comes to celebrate Golf GTI’s 40th birthday, and the best news is that we don’t have to wait much longer than one week to see it, since it is going to be revealed at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

By the way, this is the most powerful production GTI that Volkswagen has ever created. And there is a very special and unexpected thing about the horsepower of the anniversary model which I will discus in a second.

    Ways of Achieving Extra Horsepower

Under the hood of this VW is an engine which produces 265 PS (195 kW), which is exactly 35 PS more in comparison to the previous edition. But wait, there is more. If you can wait 10 seconds more as a driver of this Golf GTI, then you can increase engine’s power by 10 per cent with the help of overboost function. This means that you’ll have more than 290 PS just by pressing the throttle fully.

SEE ALSO: Volkswagen Reveals First Details about Golf GTI Clubsport

Wondering about the acceleration time? Golf GTI Clubsport sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 6.0 seconds with a 6-speed manual gearbox. If the car is equipped with the available 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG), the time is reduced to 5.9 seconds. The top speed in both cases is 155 mph.

    Exterior Beauty

Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Rear and Side View

2016 Golf GTI Clubsport Anniversary Edition is painted in “Oryx White”. Nevertheless, there are other colors available if you are not keen in this specific shade. The Oryx White is contrasted with the black roof and black door mirror caps.

Furthermore, there are new elements for the exterior design of the car. Such are the front bumper, side sills, rear diffuser and multi-part roof spoiler. Even the alloys have new design!

Moreover, the sides of the car feature the emblematic for the GTI stripe that is enhanced with “Clubsport” lettering. The black trim stripe is continued at the front around the air scoop in the front bumper. “Brescia” 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels have been specially designed for the new Golf GTI Clubsport. But if you opt for the standard wheels, then you’ll get18-inch ones.

    Exclusivity for the Interior

    Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Interior

The cabin is wrapped in high-quality materials and includes a lot of iconic for the model’s ancestors features… however, they have been a little bit modified. These include: the folding racing buckets instead of sport seats, which by the way are covered with Alcantara and feature a honeycomb pattern on the backrests and seat cushions; A red line for the seat belts; trim strips in “Honeycomb 40” design on the instrument panel, center console and doors an other sporty decorative features.

Well, it takes less than seven days to see this beautiful anniversary edition take over the stages in Frankfurt. I’m sure, we’d all be startled!

  • JMS Releases Tuning Kit for Volkswagen Passat

JMS Volkswagen Passat 3C B8 Front ViewJMS Volkswagen Passat 3C B8 is this week’s suggestion by the talented German tuners. After we have seen the exquisite BMW 5-Series Facelift, it is now time to take a look at the makeover of another German-made legend: the Passat. The work here is very similar to the one done to the BMW, so if you want to remind yourself what the tuner has revealed last week or to just make a comparison, please click the link below.

SEE ALSO: Simple but Charming: Meet JMS BMW 5-Series Facelift

Tuning Program for the Newest Passat

What has happened to this Passat 3C B8? As you can see, it has received a brand new wheels (not one but even two types) and suspension set that has lowered it substantially. For a sportier appeal, JMS added front spoiler lip. This lip also serves as a means of lowering, bringing the vehicle with 30 mm closer to the ground.

Furthermore, the KW Variant 3 coil-over suspension also minimizes the ride height of the VW with 50 mm at the front and 40 mm lower at the rear.

    Wheels & Tires

JMS Volkswagen Passat 3C B8 Front and Side View

Necessary for the perfect look of this Volkswagen is the combination of wheels and tires. The alloys here are the black Barracuda Racing Challenge wheels or the crosspoke wheel Barracuda inferno in racing silver, both coming in the dimensions of 19-inches. They are fitted with appropriate tires.

Other accessories like the JMS accelerator “Speedpedal”, performance upgrades and the in-house made sport-exhaust systems are also included in the JMS program.

  • RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 in Pure Gold?

RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 R32 Front ViewRFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 is dressed in bright color that mimics pure gold. The project has been conducted by the tuning specialists at RFK Tuning, who are based in Germany. The car did not receive only a shiny exterior but there are also some other modifications that need to be addressed, like the new suspension, contrasting wheels and engine tuning. Let’s see why this Volkswagen looks so charming and which were the exact steps of achieving this effect.

    Step 1: Striking Color

The exterior color of the Golf grabs the attention immediately. It isn’t made of real gold of course, but it is actually achieved via Matt Chrome Yellow foil wrapping. And this is the secret of the one-off car.

The other captivating element of the exterior here are the wheels. They come in 19-inch size and are painted in bright candy red, perfectly contrasting the exterior shell. In house made, the Elegance Wheels, include gold decorative screws. This gives the impression that these one-piece wheels are actually multi-piece.

SEE ALSO: 2015 Volkswagen Golf Concept Shows What Confidence Means

The extensive care for the “shoes” of this Volkswagen Golf continues with the addition of 225/35ZR19 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires at all four corners. They were manufactured with offsets of ET45 and ET35 on the front and rear axles, respectively, and also clear the R32 brakes without spacers.

    Step 2: Suspension & Handling

RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 R32 Rear View & Wheels

The next step in this tuning was to select the most appropriate coil-over suspension kit for the R32. ST Suspensions, KW’s subsidiary, stepped in by delivering a set of ST X adjustable coilovers. They lower the ride height with a few centimeters, thus giving the Golf significant visual and handling benefits.

    Step 3: Engine Remapping

Although the colour is the most striking feature of this six-cylinder Volkswagen Golf, it also has a striking new numbers of its engine. The stock 3.2 litre V6 unit produces 250 hp (184 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. BHP Motorsport ensured that there is a proper software remapping for the Golf and managed to increase its output to 270 hp (198 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft). The engine also has a sharper throttle response.

To sum up, although this project is a little bit pompous, it has its advantages, especially when it comes to engine uprating and tuner’s craftsmanship. As a matter of fact, we do like it very much, but wonder what you have to say about it?

  • 2015 Volkswagen Golf Concept Shows What Confidence Means

2015 Volkswagen Golf ConceptVolkswagen demonstrates a special concept vehicle, based on the seventh generation Golf. It is a 330 hp (242 kW) machine, constructed with accordance of all TCR regulations. And in order to accelerate the creation of the vehicle, the Golf concept will be tested in special conditions before and after the upcoming 2016 race season. Furthermore, Volkswagen, along with their partner Liqui Moly Team Engstler will run two vehicles at the 8th round of Touringcar Racer International Series (TCR) at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

    Golf Concept  and its offerings

Now, let’s talk about the vehicle itself. At first sight the Golf Concept looks confident, massive and ready for the track. Just look at the widened front and rear and you will know what I mean. Obviously the Volkswagen team went for fully sporty affair without any compromises. They didn’t even make any graphics or anything alike. The engineering team decided to focus on the widened with 40 centimeters chassis, the rear wing and the overall aerodynamic body. The inside also follows this particular sporty affair with its enforced cabin, head protector and safety tank. Sport, sport, sport. And again sport.

Furthermore, the MQB platform also offers extended list of goodies and upgrades. The 2.0-liter engine with direct injection is in fact, the top sport model from the Golf R and produces a total of 330 hp (243 kW) and 410 Nm of torque.

And now, in order to finish quickly its development, the Golf Concept will be tested in numerous road conditions and will remain throughout all the four weeks in the TCR series. Furthermore, the Liqui Moly Team Engstler will take care for running the car during the remaining tests.

  • HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI and Polo GTI Can Beat Porsche 911?

HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI and Polo GTI Front ViewHG-Motorsport must be very proud, because they have just released not one but two dynamic cars. The “double act” is represented via two Volkswagens, Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI and Polo 6C GTI, which have gained significant boosts in terms of power and torque. Some styling enhancements also complement their sportier nature. There is no wonder why the chosen cars were the GTI variants of the Golf from the seventh generation and the Polo 6C, isn’t it? So let’s review what has happened to those two.

    HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI

HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI Rear View

Defining the HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI is a sinister new appearance which hints that this car has more to show. Defined by exclusive graphics on the side doors, and red multi-spoke wheels, this car is capable of unbelievable heights. Just for a comparison, the standard motor under the hood produces 230 hp (170 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). Which is not bad, compared to the GTI-less specifications.

However, the untamed character of the tuners had to be transferred onto this Golf, and therefore they created an upgrade, which boosts these numbers to a mind-blowing 375 (276 kW) and 527 Nm (389 lb-ft) of torque. Now we can even compare this car to sports beasts like the Porsche 911, can’t we?

After the conversion, the seventh generation Golf can be compared to Porsche 911 with its 375 HP!

The question is how HG-Motorsport achieved an addition of 145 horses? There is a lot of work involved here. First, the production turbocharger has been substituted with larger one, just like the one found on the Golf R. Then, its potential was further boosted by a temperature lowering Double-DIN-intercooler. There is also an in-house made HF-Series carbon-fibre airbox, which aids the ram intake airflow.

The conversion does not finish here, because of the simple fact, that this addition of 145 hp, is not an easily achievable goal. The experts continued with the installation of Bull-X EWG 3.0-inch diameter downpipe, complemented by a Bull-X sound flap sports exhaust system. The latter actually features sports catalyst and R32-look carbon tailpipes.

SEE ALSO: HG-Motorsport Releases Better Version of Audi TTS

These tailpipes add to the visual appearance of the car aided by a new custom rear apron. At last, in order to match the new optimized intake and exhaust hardware, the ECU’s remapped fuel and ignition as well as boost curves were also improved.

Better driving dynamics, ensuring that the additional power is well managed, were also achieved. Precisely, this is due to the installation of KW Variant 3 coil-over suspension with DCC. Furthermore, behind the multi-spoke red-coloured alloys we see new brakes up front. The uprated Golf GTI brake kit includes eight-pot fixed caliper front brakes with 356×32 mm floating discs.

    Onto the next car.

    HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTI

HG-Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTI Rear View

The second car here is the Polo 6C GTI. Its production turbocharged 1.8 litre engine, generates 192 hp (141 kW) and 250 Nm (185 lb-ft) of maximum torque. Although the car is smaller and less potent, it has received almost the same upgrades like its bigger brother.

Here, the conversion has achieved an addition of 68 horses. In details, the kit for the power-boost comprises of HF-Series air-intake system and intercooler as well as Bull X-3.0-inch exhaust downpipe and sound flap exhaust. The latter features metal sports catalyst and … can you also spot the carbon-tipped twin tailpipes? Nice looking, aren’t they?

Here, the conversion has achieved an addition of 68 horses.

So, without ECU remapping, the car is capable of producing 212 hp (156 lb-ft) and 287 Nm (212 kW). But … after the specialists at SLS Tuning stepped in, the result is spectacular: 260 hp (191 lb-ft) with 350 Nm (258 kW) of torque. HG-Motorsport even confesses that the uprating had to be even more, but the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission imposed torque limitations.

At last, the sportier character of the mini fellow is strengthened via H&R Deep by K-Custom Polo GTI coil-over suspension kit. And can you spot that by this lowering the tires literally disappear behind the wheel arches? This is due to the Mücke Carbon wide-look wheel arches that have been specifically developed for this Polo.

And just like its big brother, the car runs on custom multi-spoke red wheels and features exclusive graphic elements on its sides.

Both cars are now ready for action, and judging by the number 57 on the back door window, we can soon expect of this tuned Golf 7 GTI to make significant achievements in the motorsport field.

  • MR Racing Volkswagen Golf is Entirely Transformed

MR Racing Volkswagen Golf Front ViewMR Racing Volkswagen Golf started as a simple Mk 7 GTD. When the tuners at MR Racing finished with it, we can say that it has nothing in common with its production siblings. And here it is why: the experts not only enhanced the visual appearance of the car, but also added more power to the output and created a special sound generator system, which produces a V8-like sound. There is more to that but you need to read further to get to know this version of the Golf better.

    Sound Generator

The most interesting addition in this MR Racing Volkswagen Golf is the retrofit sound generator. It gave the diesel engine of the Golf more lusty and growling sound just like that one of a big V8.

If one installs the sound generator, then he or she can control it via an optional WLAN receiver using an Apple or Android smartphone app, which is even cooler. As a result we have a VW Golf fitted with MR Racing sound generator, integrated with a sports exhaust system with two 100mm tailpipes.

    Engine

In addition, the stock engine of the Volkswagen Golf GTD received significant uprating in terms of power and torque. By the way, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder common-rail turbo-diesel produces 184hp (135kW) and 380Nm (280lb-ft) of torque without any modification.
