Volkswagen Allstar Special Editions - The "Soccer" TeamVolkswagen has just released a very cool new range of special editions called Allstar. It is inspired by football and comes to celebrate the 2016 UEFA European Championship. Unfortunately, the cars were introduced to Germany only, despite that the beautiful images show a photo-session in Paris. And there are still no details, whether these cars will be offered in other European countries. Nevertheless, I’m sure that soccer fans will enjoy the efforts of Volkswagen. Here are the details.

Just like a real football team, there are exactly eleven model variants included in the Allstar editions lineup. These include the following (in alphabetical order): Beetle, Beetle Cabriolet, Golf, Golf Sportsvan, Golf Variant, Golf Cabriolet, Jetta, Polo, Scirocco and Sharan. All of them will carry a special “Allstar” badge on their B-pillars, which will signify that they differentiate from the others.

The additional details on these special editions include several styling changes as well as some aided interior comfortability. On the outside the cars received fog lights and “Linas”-style alloy wheels. We have already mentioned the Allstar badging on the B-pillars…

The interior has been made a little bit better thanks to the “Allstar” door sill plates and a Climatronic climate control system. Due to the added winter package, the cars also get heated front seats and windshield as well as headlight cleaning system. On the optional side, there is the Allstar Plus package that will further spoil the senses of the driver and the occupants.

  • VW Reveals the Stunning Golf GTE Sport Concept

2015 Volkswagen Golf GTE Sport Concept Volkswagen of America, Inc. will demonstrate the Golf GTE Sport Concept at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. This special car really blurs the lines between road and motorsport vehicle, because of its incredible drivetrain system, body and interior features. In fact, this is one of the few, if not only one pure sports car that incorporates an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain. But this is not just an advanced hybrid unit. It provides a total of zero emissions. How cool is that? So, let’s check it out!

    The Powertrain

The 1.6-liter TSI unit is based on the two-time World Rally Championship winning Polo R WRC and brings a total of 292hp (214kW) and maximum torque of 295 pound-feet. It is a four-cylinder unit and it is assisted by not one, but two electric motors, one mounted in the front of the car and one in the rear. The front motor offers 113hp (83kW) with 243 lb-ft, while the rear has the same power, but delivers a bit lower torque, measured at 199 lb-ft.

    The Exterior

The design of the GTE Sport Concept brings a glimpse of the future. The vehicle demonstrates striking C-pillars with special two-level design. The C-pillar shape is not only contribution to the visuals of the car, but also enhance the aerodynamics.

The body of the vehicle is made of lightweight carbon-fiber. Furthermore, the Concept is painted in pearlescent “White Club” and offers two gullwing doors that swing forwards. Cool. There is also a three-dimensional side sill that is integrated in the door extends into the roof and is entirely made of dark exposed top with carbon-fiber elements. Other lightweight components are the door mirror caps, door window frames and the lower sill area.

2015 Volkswagen Golf GTE Sport Concept

At the front, there is a special blue crossbar that runs across the width of the vehicle and at the same time, three black chrome crossbars extend across the center air intaker under the blue strip. The other intake below the crossbars is framed at the top sides by carbon-fiber elements. At the rear, the double C-pillars give that wide and confident stance and the tailgate.

    The Interior

SEE ALSO: Volkswagen Beetle Denim: More Attractive than the Dune?

The cabin also is dominated by carbon-fiber and microfiber components and consists two completely separate areas for the driver and passenger. The interior also offers these sweet racing seats with five-point belts and steering column projects. On the dash, there are three transparent instrument displays and each one of them gives precious information about vehicle’s condition at every single moment. And in fact, this is the place where driver can switch through the drive modes. Yes, the vehicle offers different modes, each for different road condition and situations.

2015 Volkswagen Golf GTE Sport Concept

The E-Mode uses only the battery to deliver an emission-free drive up to 31 miles with a single charge. And when the minimum is reached, the 1.6 TSI unit is automatically engaged and the vehicle switches to Hybrid mode. The E-mode uses the rear electric motor and when the driver demands higher power, the front electric unit is automatically engaged.

When the driver activates the GTE switch, the character of the Concept is dramatically changed. The drivetrain system starts using the full potential of 395hp and in this mode is capable to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 4.3 seconds.

  • HPerformance and HPA Motorsports Create One-Off Volkswagen Golf R32

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Front and Side ViewHPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 looks amazing on pictures, doesn’t it! But let me tell you a secret: it behaves even better on the road! You might ask why and let me tell you that the reason for this lies not in the additional CO2 (sorry VW), but in the precise and crafty work of the customization specialists at HPerformance and HPA Motorsports.

It seems that the Golf has it all: looks that correspond to its sporty nature, enhanced power output and torque, new rims and rubbers to run on, and throaty exhaust system. This is in summary. But let’s review everything in details. I promise it is worth it.

    Updates for the Engine

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Rear View

HPerformance used own software to optimize the engine. However, to make the end result even better, it had to work in combination with the HPA EFR550 turbo kit. Reinforced piston and conrod and reduced compression also come into play. In addition, water chilled intake manifold was also installed. The air charge compression is variable by means of an electronically adjustable boost controller, thanks to which the new power range might be even surpassed. And it is 550 hp (404 kW) and 730 Nm (539 lb-ft) of torque.

Other Changes for this VW Golf

HPerformance Volkswagen Golf R32 Front and Side View

The new exhaust system has 90 mm end pipes and valve command. It was also made in-house, and its purpose is to deliver throaty sound. HRE FF01 rims in 8.5 x 19 inches at all four corners fitted with corresponding tiring are connecting the car and the road. KW variant 2 coilovers and H&R stabilizers on front and rear axle take care for the better suspension characteristics of the Golf. And have I mentioned that the front wings have been enlarged?

If you like the work of HPerformance, then you should also know that they do not work for free. For instance, the total price for this kind of modification will cost you around 35,000 Euro.

  • RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 in Pure Gold?

RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 R32 Front ViewRFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 is dressed in bright color that mimics pure gold. The project has been conducted by the tuning specialists at RFK Tuning, who are based in Germany. The car did not receive only a shiny exterior but there are also some other modifications that need to be addressed, like the new suspension, contrasting wheels and engine tuning. Let’s see why this Volkswagen looks so charming and which were the exact steps of achieving this effect.

    Step 1: Striking Color

The exterior color of the Golf grabs the attention immediately. It isn’t made of real gold of course, but it is actually achieved via Matt Chrome Yellow foil wrapping. And this is the secret of the one-off car.

The other captivating element of the exterior here are the wheels. They come in 19-inch size and are painted in bright candy red, perfectly contrasting the exterior shell. In house made, the Elegance Wheels, include gold decorative screws. This gives the impression that these one-piece wheels are actually multi-piece.

SEE ALSO: 2015 Volkswagen Golf Concept Shows What Confidence Means

The extensive care for the “shoes” of this Volkswagen Golf continues with the addition of 225/35ZR19 Pirelli P Zero Nero tires at all four corners. They were manufactured with offsets of ET45 and ET35 on the front and rear axles, respectively, and also clear the R32 brakes without spacers.

    Step 2: Suspension & Handling

RFK Volkswagen Golf Mk 5 R32 Rear View & Wheels

The next step in this tuning was to select the most appropriate coil-over suspension kit for the R32. ST Suspensions, KW’s subsidiary, stepped in by delivering a set of ST X adjustable coilovers. They lower the ride height with a few centimeters, thus giving the Golf significant visual and handling benefits.

    Step 3: Engine Remapping

Although the colour is the most striking feature of this six-cylinder Volkswagen Golf, it also has a striking new numbers of its engine. The stock 3.2 litre V6 unit produces 250 hp (184 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. BHP Motorsport ensured that there is a proper software remapping for the Golf and managed to increase its output to 270 hp (198 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft). The engine also has a sharper throttle response.

To sum up, although this project is a little bit pompous, it has its advantages, especially when it comes to engine uprating and tuner’s craftsmanship. As a matter of fact, we do like it very much, but wonder what you have to say about it?

  • MR Racing Volkswagen Golf is Entirely Transformed

MR Racing Volkswagen Golf Front ViewMR Racing Volkswagen Golf started as a simple Mk 7 GTD. When the tuners at MR Racing finished with it, we can say that it has nothing in common with its production siblings. And here it is why: the experts not only enhanced the visual appearance of the car, but also added more power to the output and created a special sound generator system, which produces a V8-like sound. There is more to that but you need to read further to get to know this version of the Golf better.

    Sound Generator

The most interesting addition in this MR Racing Volkswagen Golf is the retrofit sound generator. It gave the diesel engine of the Golf more lusty and growling sound just like that one of a big V8.

If one installs the sound generator, then he or she can control it via an optional WLAN receiver using an Apple or Android smartphone app, which is even cooler. As a result we have a VW Golf fitted with MR Racing sound generator, integrated with a sports exhaust system with two 100mm tailpipes.

  • Volkswagen’s Safety System Reduces Injuries and Collisions With the Incredible 45 Per Cent!

Both Volkswagen Golf and Passat models are been tested by safety experts at the Thatcham Research Centre, who noticed a total of 45 per cent drop in third party personal injury, thanks to the auto-emergency brake system. As you know, the latest generation of Golf is on sale in UK since January 2013 and almost all models are geared with the Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist and emergency brake system. Thanks to all these gadgets, injuries with the latest Golf models are halved down.

These systems are new, but it was the Golf vehicle, that made them popular. Especially the ACC technology. As you know, this system is completely effective between a speed range of 30 to 160 km/h (18 to 99 mph). In normal driving, the ACC calculates the speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead and automatically brakes or accelerates, depending on the traffic.

SEE ALSO: You Can Now Order the Latest VW Passat BlueMotion

In addition, the Front Assist continues the monitoring the traffic ahead and calculates distances, speed and the force of the brake in occasions it has to be used. And if the driver fails to react on time, the technology automatically generates a braking force, that helps avoiding collisions. Handy, isn’t it.

On the other hand, the latest Passat model, that went on sale in UK in January is also geared with ACC. In fact all the Passat models have it as a standard equipment, except the S models. With additional gadgets and the function to detect pedestrians, on-time indications from Thatcham are what avoids accidents and collisions.

ACC system is also available on Polo an Touareg, while the city emergency brake system is included and into the Up! city car.
