  • Eibach Releases Suspension Program For Mercedes-Benz GLA

Eibach-Mercedes-Benz-GLA-THUMBEibach Mercedes-Benz GLA has even a sportier look. The reason for this is the addition of tuning company’s suspension components which take care for vehicle’s length. In general the SUV has length x width x height of 4,417 x 1,804 x 1,494 millimeters. This tuning however, gives the driver the opportunity to individualize their vehicle by lowering or raising it.

The firs one is Eibach Pro-Kit Performance Springs. They lower vehicle’s centre of gravity and and contribute for better handling. For those who want a more aggressive look, there are available the innovative Eibach Pro-Lift-Kit Performance Lift Springs, which combine dynamics and comfort.

Both kits can be perfectly combined with company’s Anti-Roll-Kit Performance Sway Bars. They reduce GLA’s body roll and make it more dynamic. What finalizes the tuning of this Mercedes-Benz is the Eibach Pro-Spacer Wheel Spacers. They are made of aluminum and widen the track width.

As a reminder, 2014 GLA has an engine range which includes a 1.6 and 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engines as well as 2.1 liter four-cylinder diesel engine. • Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4Matic By Vilner

Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4Matic by Vilner is truly unique. And here is why. Around 10 million of the luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicles are E-Class. Million and a half of the produced E-Class vehicles have chassis number W210, of which several thousand are the sporty AMG versions. Only 12 thousand of them are E55 AMGs, which are powered by the huge V8 engine. In turn, of these just 653 units were produced in 2001. And there are only 8 of them, which are 4Matic, made by individual order. At last, there is only one Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4Matic which was carefully restyled by the tuning specialists at Vilner.

Besides being one of the rarest cars ever, this 2001 E55 AMG 4Matic has sentimental value, because it is one of the last machines assembled and tuned by hand in the small factory of AMG in Affalterbach. This is the reason why the designers at Vilner had a very careful approach to the project of Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4Matic. The tuners at Vilner have preserved the class and exclusivity of the car, but have also added a touch of smoky single malt.

This classicism has been achieved by the lavish use of a combination of various shades of brown and a wide range of leathers. The patina leather in smoky cognac color dominates throughout the interior and wraps all the elements that hands have contact with, including the ergonomic steering wheel. It was combined with a perforated Alcantara in more neutral colors.

What is more, the dynamic feeling is underscored by the V shaped elements on the front and rear seats. The original wood veneer was replaced by carbon applications that were lacquered in pale brown. The plastic parts of the interior have been recolored in brown.

At last, the trunk of the E55 AMG 4Matic got brand new leather treatment, which is a continuation of the theme of the interior. However it features major additions: an Affalterbach emblem, embroidered on the patina leather, as well as a travel bag, hand-made from the same materials used in the interior.

  • Brabus Mercedes-Benz SL550 Enhanced By Inspired Autosport

Brabus-Mercedes-Benz-SL550-by-Inspired-Autosport-THUMBBMercedes-Benz SL550 is undoubtedly a vehicle which anyone dreams of at least driving for a while. The customer of this unique BiTurbo beast decided to give it further improvement after the exceptional work of the Brabus experts. At help came the professionals at Inspired Autosport which added their unique treatment to the car. Originally the SL550 is powered by a 4.7 liter twin-turbocharged V8 enigne.

The powerplant produces 435 horsepower (320 kW) at 5,250 rpm and 699 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque at 1,800 rpm. The engine is coupled with a seven-speed automatic gearbox. The acceleration time for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated in 4.6 seconds, while the production top speed stops at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Obviously, the Vmax wasn’t enough for the tuners at Brabus, so they remapped the ECU and installed upgraded intercoolers. With this step, the top speed can now reach 300 km/h (201 mph+). To ensure that the SL550 doesn’t catch air at those speeds, they have lowered the vehicle via Brabus springs.

Wheels were next on the list. Inspired Autosport completed the new look of the car with a set of 20 inch CEC C882 forged monoblock wheels in Machine Black. Precisely at the front they come in the size of 20×9, while at the rear – at 20×11.

  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe – Curve Control System

Mercedes-Benz has revealed more details about their new Curve Control System on the all-new S-Class Coupe. This driving experience becomes even more exclusive with the curve tilting function, a world first for series production cars: the vehicle leans into bends in a similar way to motorcyclists or skiers.

Curve Control System allows the vehicle to incline into the automatically and continuously in fractions of a second – depending on the bend radius and vehicle speed. The subjectively perceived effect is even greater, as the vehicle would normally lean outwards. This happens, when the base points of the steel springs integrated into the ABC suspension struts are raised by plunger cyclinders on one side of the vehicle, and lowered on the other, depending on the bend being negotiated.

This innovative system recognises bends with the help of the stereo camera behind the windscreen, which registers the curve in the road surface up to 15 metres ahead, and using an additional lateral acceleration sensor in the ABC suspension. The curve inclination function can be selected using the three-stage ABC switch, and in “Curve” mode is active in a speed range of 15 to 180 km/h. The other selectable modes are “Comfort” (Magic Body Control with Road Surface Scan) and “Sport”.

The new function is available in combination with the Magic Body Control suspension system for the rear-wheel drive models, which can be ordered from 14 July. In combination with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the S-Class Coupe features the full Airmatic air suspension system with the adaptive damping system ADS Plus, in a version with a sporty setup in keeping with the character of the vehicle.

  • 2014 Vorsteiner Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic

2014-Vorsteiner-Mercedes-Benz-E63-AMG-S-4Matic-THUMB2014 Vorsteiner Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic effortlessly shows its powerful presence on the road. The tuning company based in California enhanced the sporty appearance of this E63 AMG S model with a new suspension and set of beautiful wheels. The outgoing Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is the second version of the W220 E-class. At first, it was launched in 2009 with a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

Two years later, the German luxury company changed the powerplant to a 518 hp (380 kW) 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, which in addition was available with an optional Performance package that upgraded the power to 550 hp (405 kW).

For this year, Mercedes-Benz updated the engine again. As a standard engine, the car got the 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 with 550 hp (405 kW) and 719 Nm (531 lb-ft) of maximum torque. The S version, enhanced with the AMG Performance Package, is capable of the remarkable 577 hp (425 kW) and 754 Nm (556 lb-ft).

The additional 26 horsepower were achieved via tweaks to the engine-management system as well as increased peak injection pressure and boost pressure. In other words, this is the most horsepower that the E63 has ever gotten.

The top speed in the S model was also raised and is now up to 186 mph (300 km/h) in comparison to the standard 155 mph (250 km/h). The acceleration sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated at 3.6 seconds.

And this powerful basis was used by Vorsteiner. The tuners have given this unique model a set of Sport Challenge Forged Edition VSC-101 wheels finished in Gloss Brushed Shadow. E63 AMG features an electronically controlled adaptive sport suspension, which allows the ride height to descend effortlessly.

This showcases the custom 20” forged monoblock wheels. Precisely, at the front they measure 20×8.5”, while at the rear – 20×10”. Of course, they were fitted with the appropriate Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tyres in the size of 255/30/20 and 295/25/20 at the front and rear, respectively.

  • Mercedes-Benz Restores 540 K Streamliner

Mercedes-Benz-540-K-Streamliner-THUMBMercedes-Benz 540 K Streamliner was built in the first half of 1938 and was delivered in June that year to the tyre manufacturer Dunlop. The car was employed for the testing of high-performance tyres for particularly fast and heavy vehicles, and then was adopted into the collection of the Mercedes-Benz Museum during the 1950s. 73 years after its introduction – in 2011 the vehicle was submitted for a full restoration process. The work began in the beginning of the following year and took approximately two and a half years to be fully reconstructed.

540 K was featured a streamlined aluminium body, which was an absolute one-off. It was designed strictly in accordance with the understanding of aerodynamics at that. As you can see it has flowing lines, low silhouette and minimal surface interruptions.

Streamliner was driven by an engine with 5401 cc output that produced 115 horsepower (85 kW). With a supercharger the power reached 180 hp (132 kW). The car managed a top speed of 185 km/h and a drag coefficient of Cd = 0.36.

Thorough research in the archives the specialists at Mercedes-Benz found that the vehicle was painted in silver-bronze and featured grey interior appointments and walnut wood trim. An important basis for the restoration was provided by the photos, quotation drawings and a historical description of the surface of the outer shell.

Of course, the restoration and reconstruction process was conducted via contemporary craft skills, methods and materials. The original line drawing of 1938 was transposed in meticulous detail to a 3D surface model with the help of CAD design techniques.

Extreme precision in the preparation and implementation of every detail and each stage of the work was then implemented. Original components were preserved and re-used, still showing the marks of time.

An interesting fact is that rebuilding the body shell alone involved more than 4800 hours of work. Then the reconstruction of the underbody panelling involved the help of aerodynamic experts from Mercedes-Benz passenger car development. The engine and transmission were repaired and eventually tested. The result is stunning – don’t miss the pictures below!
