  • Prindiville Lamborghini Aventador J Concept delivers 805 horsepower

prindiville-lamborghini-aventador-J-THUMB2012 Prindiville Lamborghini Aventador J is the latest concept by the exceptional tuners from Prindiville. Although only one image has leaked, we all can see the outstanding stance of the one-off road-legal vehicle.

In details, Prindiville’s latest design is based on the Lamborghinis Murciélago and Aventador LP700-4 coupé. The latter is now on sale as a Limited Edition series of only eight examples around the globe.

But let’s go further into details and see what is planned for this amazing machine. In order to enhance the performance and handling, the Prindiville J Concept will be significantly lighter and agile. This will happen due to the replacement of many original panels with carbon fibre ones.

Furthermore, the ECU of the 6.5-litre twelve-cylinder powerplant is planned to be remapped to increase the output from 700 hp (515 kW) to 805 hp (592 kW). This means that the Lamborghini will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only around 2.5 seconds! The top speed here will be over 220 mph (350 km/h).

In addition to this there will be also a 15% power upgrade. This will be possible due to bespoke twin Prindiville titanium or stainless steel exhaust system tailored to the stringent demands of a car at home on the road or track.

Other modifications planned are the upgraded braking and adjustable suspension systems, which include high performance ceramic discs.

What is more here is that the interior panels and air vents of the Aventador J are made of high-grade milled aluminium. On the other hand, the renowned Prindiville insignia has been etched into the jet black driver and passenger seats. The latter will be wrapped with the finest Italian leather and alcantara.

The interior of the car will include a five-inch LCD TV screen which will grant access to the one-of-a-kind Prindiville Entertainment system. In this system there is everything one driver needs: a DVD player, satellite navigation, and bespoke software featuring maps, setups, and telemetry of some of the most well-known race circuits across the globe, spanning from Silverstone to Laguna Seca.

Of course, the passengers in the car will have the delight to enjoy the surround sound thank to the 1000-watt hand- built Italian subwoofer amplifiers.

  • Vorsteiner Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

Vorsteiner-Lamborghini-Gallardo-Superleggera-thumbSince there seems to be a lot of fuss around Lamborghini at the moment, Vrosteiner have cunningly decided to make a reference of their own. They too send us back in time but the LM002-back-in-time-type. It’s a tuning program for the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera… sort of. More like wheels for it.

Yes, those two raging bulls down there in the gallery wear the latest shoes from Vorsteiner – 1-piece or 3-piece forged wheels codenamed respectfully VS-110 and VS-310. As if they have been made specifically for the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera with that aftermarket big brake clearances. They both boast a 5 twin spoke design can be custom painted or powder coated depending on customer choice. Functionally, these two series of wheels are supposed to minimize unsprung weight for improved vehicle performance.

That can only mean good news for the Superleggera variety of the Gallardo is already light enough – 1,420 kg. The power to propel that weight comes from a 5-liter V10 that produces 530 PS.

If adding only wheels seems a bit tasteless, Vorsteiner hint that by the end of Fall this year, they would have come up with lightweight pre-preg carbon fiber aerodynamics and performance accessories for the Gallardo as well.

  • Eternity Artemis Prototype at Beijing

Eterniti-Artemis-Prototype-thumbIt would seem that Lamborghini won’t be the only company at Beijing to showcase a 600 bhp monstrosity with high ground clearance. Meet London-base Eterniti Motors and their first car ever – The Artemis. They haven’t bothered about fitting in so to speak as they have their own category for it – Super-SUV: “Higher levels of luxury, performance and exclusivity” targeted at wealthy car buyers. We respect honesty.

The Artemis prototype is still in its trial period but Eterniti speculate that it would be out before the ones of Lamborghini, Bentley or Maserati.

Outside every panel is hand-built yet made of carbon-fiber. Well, there are some “crude” patches of chrome here and there but they can’t really ruin the whole thing, can they? Sized 315/25, low profile tires bare the weight of the body and the 23-inch alloy rims that come in several designs.

The engineers at Eterniti have put some extra effort in making the back end of the cabin spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The seats recline, cool or heat themselves, hide a refrigerator and an iPad slot – very executive. The general feel of the whole cabin is self evident – leathers, quilted undercarpets and boot trim, lambswool rugs, veneers of natural wood, piano black and carbon-fiber patterns, state-of-the-art audio system and a choice of several sunroofs for some reason.

Then there’s the real inside. At the center of the Eterniti, beats a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 heart that produces 600 bhp and 750Nm of torque. Tests have so far shown that the “Super-SUV” can do a 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds. Performance and handling have been developed by a race-bred British engineering team led by Alastair Macqueen. He was responsible for the Jaguar XJ220 so you know they are not kidding.

Eterniti have been kind enough to share a price tag as well – China will get a special deal but for the rest of the world, it’s £210,000. So this is where we start losing touch with reality. That sum of money for something that looks like a tricked out Cayenne?! Hmm…

  • Lamborghini Urus at 2012 Beijing

Lamborghini-Urus-Beijing-thumbWhat we see here, is evidence that the world has gone SUV-mad. Lamborghini have brought the heavy artillery to the 2012 Beijing Auto Show with the Urus SUV Concept. We say heavy, but actually, the company claims that the Urus will thrash the other fatties from the segment thanks to their ever-improving craftiness with carbon-fiber composites.

So what’s at the core of this concept? Some might be surprised but this is not Lamborghini’s first venture into the SUV world. It’s their second. Back in 1986 the LM002 was launched which looked like a Hummer on steroids, had 450 bhp and a top speed of 210 km/h. Despite remaining in production until 1992, only 300 units were ever made. Not what you call a commercial success then.

The name behind the new one is in part ironic. Urus (or aurochs) is an extinct species of cattle – a rather majestic and tall looking breed of bulls, ancestors of the modern Spanish Bull. Now, we understand that you can’t name something that looks like a genetically modified Lamborghini Aventador on hoofs after a standard bull but isn’t the fact that the aurochs have been “outdated” sort of a bad sign?

Anyways, Lamborghini are still quiet about what’s under the hood. “Expect something around 600 bhp” is not something we can work with here. Low emission pioneering is also amidst the company’s daring claims, because it will be light they say. But how light can a 5 meter long and 2 meter wide bulk of brawn can be? It sends its power trough trough a permanent AWD system complete with traction control. (which, again, does not sound very light).

Aerodynamics are said to play an important part as well. The suspension is widely adjustable. The front spoiler is also height adjustable so that it can provide a proper ground clearance or add some stability and efficiency on the flat tarmac. The outside features are less than a handful but for a purpose – a minimalist construction. No side view mirrors (cameras inside), no gun turrets and no excess weight. The only thing that sounds too much is the size of the wheels: 24 inches of matte aluminum glory and double spoke design.

Inside the Lamborghini Urus, there is a seating for four (two too many for a Lamborghini to be honest). The carbon fiber diet there is just as relevant as it is for the outside. The center tunnel for example, is an open skeletal carbon fiber structure made from Forged Composite. It’s the backbone of the whole interior and it is only partially clad in leather-upholstered cushioning. The four bucket seats (Forged Composite as well) are also cushioned by a single body. Then, behind the steering wheel, one would find only paddle shifters. So Lamborghini has gone the Ferrari Italia way and placed the indicator storks/buttons somewhere irrelevant. And this is supposed to be an everyday vehicle?

  • Lamborghini Urus Crossover SUV at Auto China 2012

Lamborghini will exhibit the interesting Urus Crossover SUV at the 2012 Auto China in Beijing, next week. The ultimate crossover will be probably powered by a 5.2 liter V10 with 592HP (435 kW), but nothing is mentioned for now.

However, several pictures has been published by autoforum.cz and as we can see, the Urus is astonishing. The design reminds the Aventador J, but with serious clearance and sloping roof. Most of the manufacturers chase the coupe-like profile for their SUVs and Lamborghini is not an exception.

The interior is typical for the new Lamborghini models. It comes with futuristic elements, nice and expensive materials and a lot of gadgets to play with.

Still, this is not the first try of Lamborghini to create an SUV. The LM002 was presented in the late 1980s, but it didn’t have any success, because first – it looked ridiculous and second – the price was ridiculous, too. However, the new Urus is expected to have far greater success, but only the time will show.

Stay tuned for more information about the Urus.

  • Pur Wheels on a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640

Pur-6IX-Lamborghini-Murcielago-LP-630-thumbHere’s a Lamborghini Mercielago LP 640. Beautiful isn’t it? Wait! Are you looking at the wheels? Because if you are, PUR Wheels have done their job properly – captivating onlookers with their rose gold concept monoblock wheels titled ’6IX’. Yes, concept wheels are a thing and we are not sure if this is coming out or is it just showing off.

Either way, one has to admit that they look stunning on this dying breed of V12 hypercars. Here, on this rather static gallery, their five, dobule-spoked design can be seen in it’s full glory. Alternatively, in motion, one can imagine that the Lambo’s 640 hp will render them into blurry swirls of golden magnificence. The body/wheel contrast of the whole thing, can only help the appeal. It’s as if blackberry jam is being smeared on honey crusted Pop-Tarts. Or am I simply hungry?

  • DMC Lamborghini Aventador LP900 Molto Veloce

DMC has released more details about their latest project based on the staggering Lamborghini Aventador. The name of the project is LP900 Molto Veloce and as you may suggest the number after “LP” is the amount of horsepower that the hyper car develops. On the other hand, “Molto Veloce” comes from Italian and means “very fast” and we are sure that is right!

“The Molto Veloce aims at Aventador owners that seek to add a little more exclusivity to their LP700. The LP900 engine upgrade clearly targets speed enthusiasts.”, commented Thorsten Grebers, Marketing Manager at DMC Germany.

The prices are as staggering as the car itself. The complete package cost whopping €125 000, which is a lot more than a complete BMW F10 M5.  Still, if somebody doesn’t want the full package, he or she can order separate components.

The body kit costs €19 500 and includes a new front spoiler, a pair of modified side skirts, a new rear diffuser and a nice wing replacing the original. The exterior also got a new stripe in the middle of the front, top and rear. All components are made from carbon fiber of course.

The wheel tire set is also very expensive – €7 800. And we get to the interior package , which is €17 700.

The performance package is the real deal – priced at €80 000, it includes a complete rebuild of the 6.5 liter V12, which gets a lot of upgrades to deliver the staggering 900HP (662 kW), instead of the factory’s 700HP (515 kW).

Everything is available to order, so if you have a “slow” Aventador, you can always call DMC and spend some money on making it fast… really fast!

  • Lamborghini Aventador and AMG SLS at a Houston Airfield [VIDEO]

Houston-Half-Mile-2012-thumbHere are two videos that promote an event called the Houston Half Mile Shootout. A familiar figure is in both of them – John Hennessey from Hennessey Performance which are organizing the event. We get a little intro at the beginning of both videos and we witness a half mile run at Ellington Field.

The cars – A Lamborghini Aventador 700-4, ownership to the Houston Texan linebacker Mario Williams. Hennessey is not driving this one but nevertheless, let us enjoy a bit of drama and thunder as we hear the sounds coming out of the 6.5-liter 700bhp V12 engine behind them . That majestic roar might be roughly translated into “Do not leave me behind, I am still mean, bad, serious and extremely cool” – a clear reference to the Aventador J hype that has been going on these days. Or maybe that’s just me talking.

On the second video, Hennessey himself has a go in an AMG SLS Roadster – even more noise and hair shuffling as a bonus. Small wonder. The Roadster has 571bhp 6.2-liter V8 engine that slams your face against the elements.

Everything revolves around the preparation for the Houston Half Mile Shootout event that will take place, along with the 4th annual Aeros & Autos event, at the Ellington Airport, Houston TX on the 12th of May. Registration is now open with as many as 115 vacancies still open. Let the challenge begin!

  • 2012 Geneva Motor Show: Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini-Aventador-J-THUMBAutomobili Lamborghini has just unveiled the long awaited Lamborghini Avendator J, which is on of the most uncompromising open super sports car. The Aventador J offers its pilot and co pilot an indescribable experience of power and dynamics. At the same time, the 515 kW / 700 hp two-seater features first class technology, combining innovative solutions and new materials including carbon fiber. Lamborghini Aventador J is an open automobile – the exterior and interior meld into each other. The top speed it achieves is higher than 300 km/h.

The technical basis for the Aventador J is the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 twelve-cylinder model. Its structure is based on an innovative monocoque made from carbon fiber reinforced polymers which combine systematic lightweight design. Furthermore, the new twelve-cylinder comes with a displacement of 6.5 liters and 515 kW / 700 hp combines the best in high-revving thrills with mighty pulling power. And with a dry weight of 1575 kilograms, the series production Aventador LP 700-4 is extremely light for its performance class. All this, thank to the carbon fiber technology.

Lamborghini Aventador J revealed at 2012 Geneva Motor Show
Lamborghini Aventador J revealed at 2012 Geneva Motor Show

As you can see, the vehicle is with clear, precise surfaces, which at some parts become sharp. They emphasize the power and the enormous presence of the super sports cars. The definging principle in the design of the exterior was “form follows function”. The result is the clearly defined Aventador J, which carries explosive dynamics, extreme driving fun, and of course delivers one of a kind experience. In addition, every part of the outer chassis was redesigned for the Aventador J. The car’s dimensions for example are extreme: the overall length is 4890 mm, the overall width is 2030 mm, while the height is 1110 mm. Furthermore, the black carbon fiber parts are visible throughout the car: the wide sill elements and the rear diffuser form contrast to the rich red body paintwork. The especially developed red color was created particularly for this car. As you can see it immediately catches the attention: this is a highly intensive red with a slight chrome effect. Next, the wheels – also developed specifically for this car, are with 20-inch rims at the front and 21-inch at the rear. In addition, five-spoke aluminum wheels have a central lock system and an additional carbon fiber insert which functions like a small fan for optimum brake ventilation.

The Lamborghini Aventador J’s exterior and interior forms flow effortlessly into each other. The exterior “flows” through the interior with the red stripe, which runs from the front hood, between the two wind deflectors, over the dashboard, down the console to the center tunnel and back up between the seat backs, and eventually heading for the engine cover panel. This band of color is used in terms to connect the front and the rear of the car. In addition, it also creates a visual separation between the driver and passenger.

  • Lamborghini Aventador J Revealed

Lamborghini-Aventador-J-thumbThere it is! The Lamborghini Aventador J – J as in FIA’s ‘Appendix J’ regarding the tech spec of race cars. Hope you like wildlife in your hair as this Geneva participant doesn’t really make any use of a roof. Or a windshield for that matter. Why would it? It’s a 700 bhp open top. Isn’t that enough?

Unsurprisingly, the J is based on the Aventador LP 700-4 – An AWD layout with a 6.5-litre 700bhp V12 engine. Imagine the wind resistance one is going to experience on their face whilst closing in on the 300 km/h barrier. They should have called it the Aventador D for Drama.

Obviously, the disposal of otherwise vital components calls for some structural changes. An innovative monocoque construction made from carbon fiber reinforced polymers combines lightness with optimum stiffness and strength. There are two safety bars behind the seats that are made made from a forged composite and reinforced with carbon fiber inserts. The thing about open tops and convertibles is that most people cringe at the sight of them knowing that speed and agility have been compromised. However, that’s not the case with the Aventador J. Because we don’t have a roof or a windshield, we also don’t have air conditioning. There are no distractions inside (if we can call it an inside) – Things like the satellite navigation and audio system have been deemed redundant. The J’s cockpit and parts of the seats are clad in a material called “Carbonskin” – woven carbon fibers that have been soaked in a special epoxy resin that stabilizes the fiber structure and keeps things soft and flexible. All that hi-tech, light weight material and the feature diet make the bull extremely light – 1575 kg of dry weight.

    Lamborghini Aventador J
    Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini have put to use these materials in the maddest of ways. See that horizontal stabilizer pinned between the two inferior looking wind guards? That is not a horizontal stabilizer but a rear view mirror. The front nose is narrower than the standard one and is dominated by a highly distinctive carbon fiber air scoop. Upward fins on the side complete the look. The wheels are 20 and 21-inch front and back respectively and carry a five-spoke design and an additional carbon fiber fan-like feature that vents air toward the massive brakes. All you need to know for the back end is that it has a carbon-fiber rear diffuser, four huge tail pipes and an enormous fixed spoiler mounted on the bodyshell by two arms.

So far, only one Aventador J has been made (Unica) and at the end of the Geneva Motor Show it will be sold to someone who would be brave enough and strong enough to handle it. This car is not a concept, not a prototype but a fully functional, road legal roadster.

  • Unica Lamborghini Teaser

Lamborghini-logo-thumbHere’s a video from Lamborghini of two quite brisk headlights. It’s actually a teaser video from the Bologna company regarding the upcoming reveal of… something. Most likely, it’ll be called the the Lamborghini Unica. But, there’s a lot speculation going around. Some say it will be the Aventador J Speedster – a Spyder version/concept of the Aventador. Recently some photos have also been circulating the web showing a completely topless Aventador rendering.

In any case, if the the Unica/J Speedster has anything to do with the current Aventador LP 700-4, we should be expecting at the very least a V12, 6.5 liter engine developing 700 units of horsepower and nearly 700 Nm of torque. Hope you like windy weather.

A premiere at the Geneva Motor Show tomorrow will most likely substitute speculation with awe (we hope so). Obviously you can also follow the events on Twitter.

On a side note, Unica roughly translets from Italian into “the one and only” or ‘unique’ if you will.
