  • Affordable Infiniti M35h GT

Infiniti-M35h-GT-thumbThe acclaimed fastest accelerating hybrid V6 saloon – the Infiniti M line – gets a new version model. It’s the M35h GT: a notch cheaper than the M35h GT Premium. Quite a notch actually, with £3970 in savings.

It is actually cleaner and more economical as an entry level version. It’s bellow the 160 g/km CO2 emission threshold. Nevertheless, you still get 302 hp from the 3.5 V6 power plant and 67 bhp from the electric motor that sends its power through a second clutch to the back axle.

Also, recent customer feedback have prompted the Infiniti people to offer separately the Connectiviti+ navigation system and the 16-speaker Bose surround sound system. Two entities that usually went as a package previously. As an option, you can also get a climate control system which Infiniti have named Forest Air. The seats will also be heated or ventilated, the lights will be bi-Xenon and will veer left and right depending on the steering input and the interior will be garnished with a white ash wood trim that’s been sprinkled with real silver powder.

What you don’t get on the GT but on the Premium GT is Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Prevention (LDP).

  • Infiniti EMERG-E Prototype revealed at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Infiniti has introduced an EMERG-E prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Red Bull racing F1 driver Mark Webber behind the steeringwheel. The car was previewed by the concept and the prototype is based on the Lotus Evora and uses a range-extended electric powertrain that was “specially developed for [the] EMERG-E.” The latter part is a bit dubious, as the Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid also uses the same mechanicals as the EMERG-E.

The engine is from Evora 414E Hybrid delivering 408HP (300 kW). 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds and a top speed of 209 km/h (130 mph). The car can travel up 48 km (30 miles) on electricity alone

The company hasn’t confirmed plans to build a production model, but hinted the EMERG-E “provides an exciting glimpse into Infiniti’s future.”

  • Infiniti FX Update for 2012

2012-Infiniti-FX-thumbMinor updates are in store for the 2012 Infiniti FX – a slight redesign at the front, some new color schemes and new wheels. At the same time, prices remain largely unchanged.

A new profile of the front bumper means a new look. The grille has also been altered and now resembles the one which was fist seen on the 2009 Infiniti Essence concept car. The GT and GT Premium line get new five double-spoke design 20-inch wheels. The S range on the other hand, remains with the previous, distinctive 21-inch set. That being said, S models are now available with Rear Active Steering (RAS) and a ton of other handling enhancing features. Iridium Blue and Graphite Shadow are the newly available body colors for all the FX models.

From here on the details about the models are kind of mushy but here goes nothing: The GT range comes with two V6 engines – one is a 3.0 liter diesel (FX30d GT) that develops 235bhp and the impressive 550Nm of torque. 31.4 mpg on the combined cycle make that one the choice for eco-minded customers. The second one is a 3.7 liter petrol unit (FX37 GT) that brings 316bhp to the wheels. Whichever FX GT you might choose, they will both have the complete luxury package.

The S range features those aforementioned as well with the addition of an FX50 S model which carries a V8 385bhp 5.0-litre. While every other choice, be that GT or S, can be further enhanced by a “Premium” package, the FX50 S comes strictly as a Premium. Overall, one can easily tell the difference between GT and S models – The driver oriented S have bigger rims, Rear Active Steering (except the FX37), and Continuous Damping Control. Smoked headlights, red S badging and dark chrome exterior air vent and sill strip just to name a few more S signs.

To wrap it up, we are going to end with something that all FX models share – an intelligent torque-sensing AWD system. It gets its power from the 7-speed adaptive shift automatic transmission and magnesium paddle shifters on the wheel make changing gear a charm. Get yourself a Premium version on whichever FX and there’s going to be a 30GB HDD navigation and Bose® Premium Sound System as standard.

The model is the latest one to be added to the Infiniti G Saloon line-up. What is very peculiar here is that the 2012 Infiniti G37x S is the model from the G range to be available with S grade AWD. Back in the days, only GT was available with AWD.

Being a true G model, the G37x S is propelled by its 3.7-litre V6 engine, which is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts. This combination delivers 320 hp (235 kW) and acceleration time from 0-62mph in just 6.0 seconds.

In addition, the car’s top speed is 149mph and the figure of the official combined fuel consumption is 25.7mpg (11.0 l/100km) with CO2 emissions of 255g/km.

The AWD model in the G line-up – the 2012 Infiniti G37x S can be distinguished by its S hallmarks. For instance, such are the red S badges, 18-inch Sport design alloy wheels and smoked lens headlights.

The interior features sports seats, with 14-way electric adjustment for the driver, and aluminium pedals and footrest. • 2012 Infiniti M35h – CO2 below 160g/km

2012 Infiniti M35h is one of the most economical luxury saloon on the market. Furthermore, it makes no harm to the environment with the CO2 emissions of just 159 g/km. Other benefit is for the pocket of the owner. The change brings the hybrid sedan’s CO2 under a widely-used tax threshold – and joins with the model’s pace-setting speed and fuel economy to present an even more compelling proposition to company fleets across Europe.

Key enhancements to electric motor accuracy and battery charging allow the Infiniti M35h to rely more on silent electric power when starting off from cold, bringing benefits that go beyond lower running costs.

Infiniti M35h has overall power of whopping 364PS (268 kW) and needs just 6.9 liters per 100 km on combined cycle. The highway consumption is 5.6 liters per 100 km and the urban – 9.0 l/100 km. Very interesting fuel economy for a car with more than 350HP. 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited.

“The Infiniti M35h is already popular with companies seeking a luxury sedan with no compromise on performance or fuel consumption,” commented Guillaume Pelletreau,
Commercial Director of Infiniti in Europe.

“Now with no-compromise on running costs, the 2012 M35h offers corporate buyers a car as enticing as it is sensible – a combination we think they will approve of.” , he added.

The innovative Infiniti’s fuel consumption in everyday driving has similarly been independently verified. In an economy test in the UK in 2011, the M35h returned an overall 6.49 l/100km – 6% better than its combined figure – while all other hybrids taking part failed to match their official ratings, some by as much as 18%. Impressively, the Infiniti M35h cruised silently on electric power for almost half the 596km test distance.

It also can provide zero emission urban transport with over a 48-km (30-mile) range. And when the range-extender petrol engine functions powers the twin electric motors, it produces a CO2 output of only 55g/km (NEDC cycle).

All this is efficiency is wrapped within highly aerodynamic, light bodywork characterised by a design fluency that could only come from Infiniti.

  • 2012 Vilner Infiniti EX37 – The Modern Crossover with Оld School Interior

2013 Vilner Infiniti EX37 ThumbFor the first time this year we have news from the tuning company VILNER. Now, those excellent tuners have prepared for us a modification of the interior of the Infinity EX37 which will leave us speechless! While making the luxury interior, Vilner has used high-quality, expensive, and mostly unpopular materials.

For example take a look at the seats, the doors, the lower part of the panel, the hoods and the gearshift – they all have been “dressed” in aniline leather, which is incomparably mild and pleasant to touch. Furthermore the material is extremely fine and more importantly there is no chemical treatment or dying on t! And just see the design of the seats – doesn’t it astonish you! It is definitely something you can’t see everyday. At their upper part the bands made from aniline leather create oval forms. And in contrast in the middle and the lower part they are vertical and wider. An accent here is made by the engraved with the “Vilner”’s logo asymmetrically positioned band (made from the same material), which can also be seen at the muff of the gearshift (which is also engraved with the logo). An interesting fact, used in the tuning here, is that through the exploitation of this leather as a result there is a beautiful patina. This undeniably adds more to the Old School character of the interior.

    2013 Vilner Infiniti EX37
    2013 Vilner Infiniti EX37

To go further into details, the needlework is light and bright. In contrast the ceiling and the console of the steering wheel are made from a high-quality nabuck – Аmaretta®. It also has those distinguished details made from the fine bands VideoFlex Film Extra®. Can you imagine that even the rearview mirror is fashionably dressed in Аmaretta®? If you can’t, well – see the pictures below!

The steering wheel is transformed by hand again in high-quality Napa in order to deliver more comfort, ergonomics and aggressive looks. In addition the luxury image of the vehicle is complemented by the chrome-plated parts of the steering wheel, the buttons for seats management, the ceiling handles, the protectors on the doors speakers and the plafond.

Wait, the great news isn’t over! The Audio system included in this tuning is the one which won the first place on “EMMA Balkan Sound & Tuning 2011” in the class of the “Advanced 7 channels”. In details, it includes the original Infiniti player, the processor „AudiSon” and the „Ground Zero” amplifier and speakers!

Moreover the coupe of the vehicle is additionally made noiseless in order to improve the overall comfort experience of the passengers and the driver, and of course – to deliver even greater sound experience.

Obviously for Studio Vilner every detail is of utmost importance. Hence, the perfect needlework and luxury materials have the most significant place in the creation of the interior. Well done Vilner! A great start of the year for you!

  • Infiniti Hint Their Latest Product

Infiniti intends to pursue the ultimate driving experience delivered from electricity. They have already proven themselves apt in that field with the Infiniti M hybrid but now they are looking towards the Geneva Motor Show 2012. There they will reveal a yet to be named sports concept that will  “minimize the traditional compromise between thrilling performance and sustainable mobility”.

Information is scarce really. All we have is Infiniti’s promise that we are talking about an efficient, sharp, low-emission vehicle with an even greater urban mobility. Infiniti say also that, despite an overall truthfulness to the company’s image and spirit, a new mid-ship design will provide better weight distribution. In other words most of the mechanical bits will be placed somewhere where it is least damaging to the performance of the car.

For more information supposedly, we will have to wait for the Geneva Motor Show which kicks off on the 8th of March this year.

  • The QX56 Powered Boat

A bunch of students from the Tennessee Technical Center in Nashville and the Nashville State Community College have successfully managed to extract a 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 from an unfortunate Infinity QX56. All they need to do now is to wait for a craftsman, a thousand miles away in Freeport, Maine, to complete his work on a completely stripped down Chris-Craft Holiday boat. So, what’s the connection in all of this? Well, these are stages of a project called Infiniti QX56-Powered Boat which is exactly what it sounds like: they are going to marry the Infinity engine to a renovated version of the 1962 boat.

This is not a pioneering case of a mechanical heart transplant. Chris-Craft boats have had a history with “Hotroding” (the process in which a powerful engine unit is coupled with a classic chassis). Previously, power plants such as the 431-cubic inch Lincoln marine engine or the 440-cubic inch Chrysler Hemi marine V8 one, have had the pleasure of propelling those iconic, mahogany vessels.

“The use of the powerful Infiniti QX56 V8 is fitting with the history of this particular craft,” explained George “Dodo” Brockman, owner of Freeport Boat Outlet, who is overseeing the build of the Infiniti boat project. The Infiniti V8 is actually lighter than all of the previous powerplants and won’t require any special bracing or hull modifications to fit it into the original engine bay.”

    Infiniti QX56 Powered Boat
    Infiniti QX56 Powered Boat

So the QX56 V8 is more of an evolution than everything else. However you don’t just yank out a V8 from a car and strap it to a boat without tweaking it beforehand. After removal the engine had to be sent at Bracket Marine in Westbrook, Maine for a trial with its future ZF/Hurth marine transmission. Then Alabama was the place where new, water-cooled exhaust manifolds were fitted and also a closed cooling system was adapted. One stop still remains to be done – Its back at Infinity’s for a close inspection to see if everything is up to standards. Hopefully by the time the engine is fully ready to install, the restoration process of the Chris-Craft Holiday boat will have been completed with an all new, rot-free, frame patched together by mahogany plates. Other genes from the Infinity QX56 will also be transferred on to the boat – leather upholstery, NavWeather™ provided by XM® and a speaker and sub-woofer system all complete the luxurious package that will be the Chris-Craft QX56.
