Hamann-Fiat-500-THUMBHamann Fiat 500 is a car which you won’t miss easily when it passes by. It is definitely a vehicle which is 100 percent unique and recognizable. It has all eyes on itself and the main reason for this is the work of the designers from Hamann Motorsports.

They have designed a very special aero kit for the Fiat 500. It strays away from the conventional lip kit, and in fact the tuning studio fully remodeled the Italian machine with its own wide body kit.

The latter, allow the utilization of a much wider wheel increasing the amount of grip one can achieve. At last, the specialist created a new quad exhaust system that is positioned below the new rear bumper.

  • Fiat 500 Café Racer Exudes Passion And Love [VIDEO]

An interesting video I have just found over the web space is that of how Fiat 500 is getting ready and customized for 2012 SEMA Show. Interestingly enough, the so called “Cafe Racer” is being stripped down to the bare minimum for maximum performance and speed.

Details around the performance figures are still scarce, but we are eagerly waiting to know them around its official introduction. Furthermore, this particular video caught my attention, because a Fiat 500 is not we are used to see getting customized every day. Nevertheless, according to its designers, it is a really good vehicle to modify.

Another thing that provoked my curiosity is why it is called Café Racer. Well the truth here lies in history. There was a time when people have stripped down their motorcycles in order to get the weight down. The aim of course was to achieve a better performance.

Summed up in three words: attention, passion and love, is what can be seen throughout this car. Indeed, a great craftsmanship was needed to achieve the “Café Racer” effect and to bring forth the true personality of the Fiat.

Tires and wheels were changed, new exhaust system was added and basically the specialists have stripped down the car to the very essence of what one needs to drive. In addition, the seats were made lighter as well and have received a clean, sleek a lower profile. And this is how the Fiat 500 is capturing the imagination because it must be more than just a car, it must be a driving experience!

Some more cosmetic features will be shared as well. Think tinted windows at the back, Xenon headlights, 17-inch wheels and red brake calipers. • Abarth 695 Maserati Edition – Price and Specs

Abarth-695-Maserati-Edition-Fiat-500-thumbYou remember the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition, right? The one that is based on a Fiat 500c? It now has a price tag and a full list of specs. Both of them are big.

The Abarth 695 Maserati Edition is a followup of the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari project which was a big hit three years ago. There will be only 499 examples of this new one and as the name suggests, it will carry a Gran Turismo feel wherever it goes.

First, the oily bits: under the hood hides a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v engine that sends 180 bhp trough an Abarth Competizione gearbox. Pass the 3000 rpm mark and your years will have the pleasure to endure the aria sung by the variable back-pressure “dual-mode” exhaust pipes. Stomp on the brakes and a set of Brembo monoblock brake calipers will squeeze the front 305 mm floating discs so hard, that afterwards you’ll have to feel your way under the seat in search of your face. All the while, Koni shock absorbers make sure you come home with an intact spine.

As a trademark, the Abarth 695 Maserati comes in a characteristic Pontevecchio Bordeaux – a three-layered shade from Maserati’s catalog that we can only describe as red. The thing that sticks out as gray is the fabric of the soft top. Another mark of Maserati engineering represents the wheels – Neptune design alloy wheels, 17-inches in size and wrapped up in performance tires.

Inside, the predominant theme is beige which sounds a bit tasteless, but the overall effect is quite surprising. A 695 logo is embossed on the headrests, the dashboard and console trim has a lining of carbon fiber and the door panels and rear panels have been treated with UV-LUX for that extra gray “flocking” effect. In front of you, there’s a black-leather steering wheel with patches of beige, flappy paddles for the gearbox, an instrument panel by Jaeger and aluminum pedals in the foot well.

    Final summation – £32,000 or $50,553

  • SR Auto Project Denso Fiat 500 Prima Edizione

SR-Project-Denso-Fiat-500-Prima-Edizione-thumbWe really hate it when some tuning houses decide to put some flashy wheels on an already appealing car and call it a project. So when we caught a glimpse of this Fiat 500 Prima Edizione (limited edition) touched by SR Auto, we rolled our eyes. “Here’s another one… what’s it called?” Project Denso they say.

Okay, so it has a set of lightweight Work Meister S1R wheels. Massive two-piece forged things, finished in matte black and line with some bronze. The Fiat’s wheel arches, as we can clearly see, are struggling for air. At this point, we hurried to conclude: “Okay, so that’s about it, right?”

Well, it turned out that’s not the full story. Some behind the curtain work has also been done. We should have guessed that one – lower springs by H&R, good for handling we’ve been told.

But even deeper underneath the shell, a K&N filter system works its magic to provide a bit of extra boost from the air coming in. Further down the road we also find a Magnaflow cat back exhaust system that releases any flow restriction that might have been present on the standard Prima Edizione Fiat 500.

So then, Project Denso it is – 100% fun content (from concentrate).

  • 2012 Abarth 500 – Price

The 2012 Abarth 500 is one of the best value for money cars, which you can buy in the UK. It is in third place after Audi Q5 and Skoda Yeti with an average resale value of 60% of its list price, based on 3-year or 30 000 miles use.

It shows that Abarth’s plan to hold off depreciation as much as possible is working. Since its launch in July 2008, the performance arm of Fiat Group Automobiles has quickly established itself to be a desirable brand that people want to own and drive; not short-term nor highly discounted.

“Right from the start we had the plan to build in long-term value to the Abarth brand,” commented Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth in the UK.

“A sustainable cost of ownership is something we have always been able to offer Abarth drivers and, add to that the fact that the Abarth 500 is a timeless and highly attractive car, it’s no wonder that it has done so well in this important research.”, he added.

The Abarth 500 is powered by a 1.4 liter 16V turbocharged petrol with 135HP (99 kW) at 5500RPM and 206Nm (152 lb-ft) at 3000RPM in sport mode. The engine is EURO 5 compliant and returns 43.4 mpg on combined cycle with emissions of 155 g/km CO2.

The 2012 Abarth 500 is priced from £14 461 OTR for the 1.4 T-Jet model.
