  • New Fiat 500 is named Best Small Electric Car by Parkers

2021-Fiat-500-910New Fiat 500 claims one more award to its collection – the Best Small Electric Car from Parkers.

The jury praised the new 500 for its neat turning capabilities, overall good looks, and affordability.

The New 500 is the first EV from Fiat and provides a range of best-in-class features such as Level 2 autonomous driving technologies, a variety of battery options – 24kWh or 42kWh – and a substantial driving range of up to 199 miles, the longest range of any electric city car on the market.

The vehicle also benefits from fast charging options and tons of customization, spread across three trim levels – Action, Icon and La Prima.

Keith Adams, editor, Parkers said: What makes a great city car? Pert looks, titchy overall dimensions, a tight turning circle, and zero emissions are good starters, and the new Fiat 500 Electric ticks all those boxes and more. The Parkers team has fallen for this car big time, and I can understand why, thanks to all of the above and an agreeable starting price. Top all that off with a model line-up that includes a cheap entry-level model with a smaller battery, as well as a long-range version that can turn its hand at motorway driving, and you have a great all-rounder that’s difficult not to fall for.

Greg Taylor, Fiat UK managing director, said: New Fiat 500 continues to make waves among industry experts, tallying its eighth award in asmany months. Boasting best-in-class features – such as Level 2 autonomous driving – an impressive driving range, as well as multiple trim levels, it is no surprise the New 500 continues to grab attention in the industry.

Now, by introducing the mild-hybrid technology, 500 and Panda ensure that all benefits of efficient, compact, lightweight and accessible driving are all present in both machines.

    The mild-hybrid technology

500 and Panda will be available with a new petrol mild hybrid engine that blends the latest 3-cylinder FireFly 1.0-liter power unit with a 12-volt Belt-integrated Starter Generator (BSG) electric motor and a lithium-ion battery that delivers additional 70hp (51kW).

The BSG system is mounted directly on the power unit and is operated by the by the belt that also drives the auxiliaries. Also, Seaqual Yarn is produced by transforming the plastic collected from the sea into flakes of polyethylene terephthalate. These flakes are then used in the yarn from which the fabrics are made. In the weaving phase, marine polyester is mixed with other natural and recycled fibers. This process is completed by the application of dyes and finishes that minimize the use of water and energy.

  • Italian beauty with Bulgarian upgrades: meet the Vilner Fiat Abbarth machine!

2017 Fiat 500 Abbarth 595When it comes to styling, Italians know how it’s done. They most certainly do. We do see it in clothing fashion, fine art and of course, vehicles. And we will be talking about vehicles in this article. More precisely, about a well-known classic. The Fiat 500 Abarth 595. We have all seen a lot about the model, but this particular one is special – after all, Vilner team has decided to take a closer look at the design concept. And this is how the machine became even more Italian-ish.

The whole tuning project is based on paying tribute to the Italian finesse and elegance. You can clearly see it with the Italian flag that goes throughout the length of the left side of the vehicle. What makes this feature cool is that it is not meant to be prominent and the dominating eye-catcher. Just the opposite – it is elegant, joyful and fits neatly on the white body finish. What really catches the eye is the set of bumpers. They are massive and super aggressively looking. Especially the front one – just look how large and sporty-oriented it is! Besides, it is always fun to see such aggressive additions to a such cute and innocently looking automobile.

    2017 Fiat 500 Abbarth 595

The design studio adds more aesthetic details – for example, we do like the “Abarth” graphic on the rear glass, as well as the red and white sporty spoiler. And there is no way that one cannot fall in love with the “Vilner” signature at the bottom rear corner. And all this is topped with the optional ‘Record Monz system.

SEE ALSO: Oberscheider attends the Tuning Hobel 2017 Challenge: Check their vehicle of choice!

Now let’s talk about the interior, shall we. After all, this is where Vilner shines the best. First of all, people will be pleased to see this very same Italian flag going throughout the cabin. This is a sort of mirroring technique that appears to be a pretty effective one. And what we find most attractive is that the green-white-red flag looks as good on the black Alcantara surface as it does on the clean white exterior body finish. Neat.

    2017 Fiat 500 Abbarth 595

Furthermore, the cabin showcases numerous more exclusive features. For example, the Alcantara inserts with asymmetric shapes, elegant “595” logos and a full-scale Italian flag, entirely made of high-quality leather. What Vilner team decided to do is to keep the styling concept of the original seats and floor mats, but instead of leaving them untouched, the designers have just added some more Alcantara inserts. However, where the genial ideas of Vilner shine are the armrests. They are also covered in fine leather and also showcase the Italian flag, but the special thing here is the symbol that this design solution brings – in Atanas Vilner’s own words, this detail is both apparent and hidden. It shows the nationality of the 500 Abarth machine, but also showcases the multilayer character of the “595”. Also worth mentioning are the central console and the glass roof that altogether with the red seatbelts showcase that this is not just an ordinary styling project.

  • The smallest yacht in the world: Fiat’s collaboration with Riva led to a beautiful result. [w/video]

2016 Fiat 500 RivaFiat 500 Riva, brand’s latest model, created in collaboration with Riva is already available for order! With tons of exclusivity and neat tweaks, the vehicle tries to blend the best of the 500 lineup, along with adding these premium wood components that Riva offers.

    Exterior styling

We do see an already known silhouette: compact design, straight lines and overall tight stance. And all that covered with exclusive Sera Blue body color. Of course, the convertible top is also painted in blue, while the back panoramic roof adds additional points to the overall elegance features.

We do see exclusivity everywhere: the chrome-plated mirror caps, chrome-plated handles and bonnet and the double aquamarine line that runs along the belt line contribute to a distinctive and beautiful appearance. And all this is topped with neat 16-inch 20-spoke light alloys in special blue finish. Sweet.

But we should also mention the stupid-looking face: we do know that this front styling is a sort of iconic for the lineup and the brand, but let’s be honest: people do not like it. They have just got comfortable with the small eyes and the ridiculously not-attractive grille smile.

Design team’s trials to make the body look somehow more muscular and confident also cannot hide the ridiculous front fascia design. Something more: it makes it even worse. But hey, who cares? We got an Italian sweetheart, upgraded by a premium yacht brand. At least this sounds cool.

    Interior styling

    2016 Fiat 500 Riva

The cabin is indeed a distinctive one. We do have this usual Fiat feel of coziness, blended with functionality, but there is something else with this vehicle: the numerous wooden components. Adding more warmth and feel of luxury Riva components really makes difference. There are numerous detailing on the dashboard, we do see solid pieces of mahogany that cover the door sills and gear lever. Of course, Riva’s signature here and there only makes the interior look even more premium and exclusive.

In fact, we see a meticulous attention to every small detail that really makes difference: the stitching, dashboard styling, seats and every single small component that matters for the interior. Long story short, we do love the cabin and everything it offers.

    Drivetrain system

Fiat 500 Riva comes with wide choice of engines and drivetrain components. The tried-and-tested favorite is definitely the 1.2-liter Fire with 69hp, available with neat ECO function. And even without the environmentally-free system, the powertrain comes with pretty good economy, blended with sweet power output: the CO2 emissions are only 99g/km, while the power output is measured at 105 horsepower: not bad for a two-cylinder sweetheart, right?

SEE ALSO: 2016 FIAT 124 Spider: is it that special as brand wants it to be?

The second choice is a 1.3 Multijet 95hp diesel engine. This one is a sort of pride and joy for FCA motor engineering and there is a reason for this: its top speed is 180km/h and offers some sweet acceleration and all of that with wonderful fuel economy. Sweet.

    Additional equipment

Fiat 500 Riva comes with tons of standard features. There are ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, Anti Slip Regulation Hill Holder, Hydraulic Brake Assistance and emergency brake.

Of course, driver and passengers will benefit from automatic air-conditioning, personalized TFT screen with exclusive logo and background, UconnectTM 7″ HD LIVE touch screen with tons of features. Buyers will also be pleased to know that in terms of audio, the Fiat 500 Riva is geared with Beats by Dr. Dre audio system. The BeatsAudioTM system offers a total of 440 watts of power and features a digital 8-channel amplifier. Sweet.

We do like the new Fiat vehicle. Except some minor turn-offs, of course. We are not going to forgive the stupid face, even if the rest of the vehicle was heavily influenced by a premium yacht manufacturer. So, tell me, what do you think about world’s smallest yacht?
