  • Buick Envision Teased Ahead Of Premiere In China

buick-envision-teaser-THUMBBuick Envision is to make a Chinese premiere. The vehicle has just been teased with an image showing it between brand’s two crossovers: the Encore and Enclave. The first one is positioned in the compact segment, while the second – in the extra-large one. This means that there is enough space for the company to consider introducing a vehicle in the mid-size crossover segment. And this is where the Envision model steps in.

The GM department in Shanghai announced that this new midsize SUV will make its debut in China later this year. The model is inspired by the Buick Envision concept. The latter is the latest member of the Buick SUV family, which has dynamic and assertive styling. It mixes emblematic Buick design characteristics with the brand’s new high-end, refined global design concepts.

Furthermore, Buick has also disclosed that the Envision will adopt a new-generation powertrain as well as company’s new all-wheel-drive technology. As a standard, the vehicle will add the fuel-saving start/stop technology.

The introduction of the model in China aims to make a new benchmark in country’s high-end midsize SUV segment in terms of space, safety, performance and specifications. Of course, Buick said that the Envision will complement the Encore and new Enclave in Buick’s China SUV portfolio, providing a range of choices for SUV buyers. This leads us to the thoughts that the vehicle will probably be introduced in other parts of the world too.

  • 2015 Buick Verano Adds 4G LTE And Built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot

2015-Buick-Verano-Turbo-THUMB2015 Buick Verano has great thoughtful design, including meticulous attention to detail inside and out. It delivers wide range of equipment features such as a standard rearview camera, heated steering wheel and soft-touch interior surfaces. The model is available in four trim levels: the basic 1SD, Verano Convenience 1SG, Verano Leather 1SL and Verano Turbo 1ST. Now Buick is enhancing Verano’s connectivity with OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

Furthermore, a new exterior color will adorn the range. It is the Dark Sapphire Blue Metallic. There is a new appearance package available for all models except the Turbo. It includes a rear spoiler and a silver/bright chrome grille.

Standard safety features for the model range are the side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert crash-avoidance technologies, while the forward collision alert and lane departure warning come as an option.

This Buick model can be driven by either of two four-cylinder engines: the standard Ecotec 2.4L and the available Ecotec 2.0L turbo. The latter produces 250 horsepower (187 kW) and 260 lb-ft of torque (353 Nm). However, it is still capable of great fuel efficiency: it achieves EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 city and 30 highway.

The standard Ecotec 2.4L with direct-injection is delivering 180 horsepower (134 kW) and 171 lb-ft of torque (232 Nm). The fuel efficiency is 32 mpg (highway). Both engines are coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control.

Verano’s IntelliLink system has been standard on all models. The system is designed to accommodate new features and enhancements and be highly customizable. It includes seven-inch-diagonal screen which can be also used as standard rearview camera system. There is an optional navigation system.

OnStar Directions and Connections include all of OnStar’s advisor-based safety and security features: Automatic Crash Response and Stolen Vehicle Assistance, as well as Turn-by-Turn navigation. On the other hand the OnStar Basic Plan includes RemoteLink Key Fob Services, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics and Dealer Maintenance Notification.

  • 2015 Buick Models Getting A Standard Rearview Camera

2014-Buick-Enclave-THUMB2015 Buick Enclave will come equipped with a standard rearview camera. The same will count for every 2015 Buick model. With this step the company shows how important is the safety and technology. As a matter of fact, in 2013 the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute conducted a study which found that vehicles with rear backup cameras have a significantly reduced rate of backing crashes. Circa ninety-seven percent of the backing crashes in this study have involved striking another vehicle.

An added rearview camera increases the confidence of the driver. And although they do not come as a standard on all new models, Buick thinks that these cameras must be made a must-have feature.

What is more, in terms of safety, all 2015 Buick models, including Verano, LaCrosse, Enclave, Encore (fitted with AWD) and the Regal have a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety in the New Car Assessment Program run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Other technologies which are available and come to help prevent a collision, are the active safety technologies such as Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

At last, the OnStar Automatic Crash Response Technology is fitted as a standard on each vehicle for six months. When a collision happens, a specially trained Emergency Advisor is connected to the vehicle the moment a crash is detected. If the driver requests help, or can’t answer, emergency responders are sent to the precise GPS location.

  • Updated: Buick Lineup Equipped With Active Safety Suite

BuickSafetySuite-THUMBBuick models Verano, Regal, LaCrosse, Encore and Enclave are going to be offered with a range of available active safety systems. They are designed with the aim to watch the front, side and rear of the vehicle in order to prevent crashes.

In addition, Buick is the only brand in industry which offers Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Warning, and a Rear Vision Camera on every vehicle.

To go further into details, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning utilize a single forward-looking camera to read traffic and lane markers on the road ahead. Here visual warnings and audible tones alert are used to inform the driver about the lane changes or a slowed vehicle.

In addition, the Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Warning use radar thus observing the spots the driver may not see. Of course, they also utilize visible and audible warnings to “catch” the attention of the driver.

In the cases when the car is in reverse and the Rear Vision Camera is active, then the Rear Cross Traffic Alert will flash a red icon and directional arrow if another vehicle is approaching from either side.

Furthermore, the Side Blind Zone Alert is the technology which detects when other vehicles are in Buick’s blind spot. If there is a vehicle in the blind spot, then the system alerts the driver with a yellow icon on the glass of either side view mirror. And in the cases when a turn signal is engaged and at the same time another vehicle is detected in the next lane, the system delivers an audible alert.

All of the current Buick models are created with high strength steel and additionally, the Verano compact luxury sedan and Encore luxury small crossover offer 10 standard air bags. On the other hand, the Enclave luxury crossover comes as a standard with front center air bag. The latter helps protect drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes.

  • Premiere For The Buick Riviera Concept Vehicle

Buick-Riviera-Concept-THUMBA brand new version of the Buick Riviera Concept vehicle made a world debut in Shanghai, showing off its avant-garde aesthetics and range of advanced technology. The concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid electric motor which comes in a single package.

The Rivera Concept retains the sweeping design cues of the previous versions, but is more athletic in terms of shape and exudes elegance and deeply sculpted lines. The concept’s silhouette has a three-dimensional effect that resembles waves in the ocean coming to a standstill for a split second.

In addition, here are featured Buick‘s one-of-a-kind gull-wing doors that add more to the sportiness of the model. The new Riviera has an ice celadon exterior finish inspired by jade. What is more, the updated concept vehicle has a new waterfall grille and wing-shaped daytime running lights.

The balance between style and performance is kept thanks to the inclusion of its raked windshield, 14-degree fastback design and metallic fiber spoiler, active grille shutters and diffusers, and active pneumatic wheels.

Next, the interior of the car is based on the 360-degree integrated design strategy. Inside the coupe, the eaglewood tone predominates and features extensive use of refined materials like sand-blasted aluminum alloy, lava suede and ebony. The luxury feel is further enhanced, thanks to the new center console, front floating seats, adaptive seating system and noise-absorbing head restraint system.

In terms of technologies included in this project, this Buick includes BIP (Buick Intelligent Performance) and dual-mode W-PHEV (wireless plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) propulsion system. This basically means that the driver can choose to go on green power in electric mode and enjoy the exhilarating handling and performance of a sports car while driving “green” in hybrid mode.

The Rivera can be charged with a traditional cable or wirelessly via a sensory recharge panel on the car’s chassis. Another highlight here is that this concept is also given an intelligent four-wheel steering, an electromagnetic-controlled suspension and an air spring package.

The safety and security features here include a forward-looking active safety system that gathers traffic information through 10 high-resolution cameras and 18 micro high-precision sensors. Then the information is being integrated and afterwards projected in a holographic image on the windshield.

Furthermore, the intelligent driver assist system delivers high level of active safety and security, because it incorporates some versatile technologies such as an eagle view record system, night view assist, side blind-zone alert system, lane departure warning system, full-speed range-adaptive cruise control system, lane change assist system, parking assist system, rear cross-traffic alert system, autopilot system and “transparent” A pillars.
