  • Buggati’s jewel: the most expensive vehicle in the world!

1926-Bugatti-Type-41-Royale-910Back in the 1920s, Bugatti has managed to create one of the most luxurious vehicles in the world! First revealed in 1926, the Type 41 Royale was the largest and most advanced vehicle in the segment. Let’s find out more, shall we?

With a wheelbase of 4.3 meters and a length of over six meters, Royale was the largest and most powerful vehicle ever created in Molsheim. With a price three times exceeding this of a similar limousine, the Royale was also 10 times more expensive, compared to other Bugatti models.

Everything about this vehicle was unique: the engineers have installed an aircraft engine that company founder Ettore Bugatti has personally designed in 1927 served as a blueprint for this ambitious project. Vehicle’s unit was created with a displacement of 12.8 liters and delivered a total of 300 horsepower. This exclusive engine was capable of accelerating the vehicle, which weighted up to 3.5 tons to about 200km/h. However, the maximum output was merely 1800 revolutions. There was also a dry sump lubrication system that was pumping 23 liters of oil to the required points and 43 liters of coolant oil that kept the temperature in balance.

The first prototype was built in 1926 – it featured a super long wheelbase and an even larger engine with a displacement of 14.7 liters. Some years later, back in 1932 Bugatti team has managed to sell the first Royale to a Parisian industrialist, Armand Esders. The elegant machine sheathed the eight-cylinder above the drive and the vehicle didn’t feature headlights – Armand Esders wanted to dive his new vehicle only during the day. Also, the exclusion of headlights gave this more elegant expression to the overall exterior concept.

However, the Royale didn’t go on to become an economic success. The economic crisis and its aftermath made even the prospective buyers hold back. Up until 1933, there were only six units built and only four of these were sold. Luckily, all six machines still exist today, including two in the Cité de l’Automobile, Schlumpf Collection, in Mulhouse, France, and one at the Bugatti Headquarters in Molsheim. Each one of the six can still be considered as one of the most prestigious and exclusive vehicle in the world. Something more should one of these be auctioned, it will automatically become the most expensive vehicle in the world!

The Royale Engines and the Express Trains

Although the production of the Royale lineup was a commercial failure, the construction was still a resounding success – Bugatti engineers modified the eight-cylinder engines and used them on different projects, for example as units of motor coaches for express trains for the French railways, known today as SNCF. Depending on the version, SNCF required two to four of these massive engines with an overall output of 200hp each. During the first test runs, the train reached 172km/h, which made it the first contemporary high-speed train. Neat!

  • Bugatti presents the super-exclusive Chiron Spur Sport! Check it out!

2020 Bugatti Chiron Pur SportWith flat front end and dynamic design with an impressive rear spoiler, the new Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport yearns for corners and challenging country roads. The vehicle is beautiful and elegant, just as expected and features tons of advanced technologies and next-gen engineering solutions. Let’s find out more, shall we?

    Exterior design

Chiron Pur Sport’s concept has been geared towards agility and performance. The Design Development department’s focus was to lend the Pur Sport a confident appearance. This results in the dominated front end by an intentionally dynamic expression with wide air inlets and an enlarged horseshoe panel at the bottom, which serves as a perfect radiator air outlet. The vehicle’s striking splitter generates maximum downforce by protruding considerably at the front while also making the vehicle seem wider.

The rear of the Pur Sport showcases the vehicle’s rear spoiler spanning 1.90 meters to generate additional amounts of downforce, and the striking diffuser also boosts vehicle’s aerodynamics. The design is rounded off by the extremely lightweight exhaust tailpipe made of 3D-printed titanium.

    Interior design

    2020 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

In terms of interior, the design is deliberately sporty and raw and relies heavily on the minimalist approach. There are large surfaces upholstered with Alcantara that not only adds to the luxurious feel but also save some weight. Furthermore, the dynamic patterns have been lasered into the Alcantara door trim panels featuring contrasting fabric highlights with a metal look. All other components and controls are either black, anodized aluminum or titanium.

    Drivetrain system

Bugatti exclusively configured the chassis and suspension in order to be uncompromising on winding roads without affecting negatively the driving comfort. The new setup features 65% firmer springs at the front and 33% firmer springs at the rear, an adaptive damping control strategy geared towards performance, as well as modified camber values, which altogether guarantee even more dynamic handling and agility.

There are also carbon-fiber stabilizers at the front and rear that additionally minimize roll. In addition, the vehicle’s exclusive wheel design saves a total of 16 kilos from the overall weight, while the titanium brake pad base panels cut a further two kilograms. Neat!

  • Bugatti Chiron Colorizer Launched. Here are the Individualization Options it Offers

Bugatti Chiron Colorized front viewBugatti Chiron, which we have been waiting for a long time, debuted last week at the Geneva Motor Show, giving a glimpse of what the world’s most powerful, fastest and most luxurious car looks like. Exclusive in its production (it will be limited to 500 units only), the Chiron is the first sports car currently on the market to offer 1,500 HP (1103 kW) and torque of 1,600 Nm (1180 lb-ft). The maximum speed of 420 km/h makes the Chiron ready for a new world speed record, while the acceleration is also unsurpassed: the superposrts car speeds up from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.

Since we have heard the details already and we have seen the Chiron in the traditional French Racing Blue exterior color, now it is time for some sort of “movement”. If you are going to spend at least €2.4 million for this car, and you do not like the blue color, Bugatti has launched the new colorizer for the hypercar. In the gallery below you can see more of the popular color options available.

Precisely, there are eight different color themes which you can chose from and you can actually colorize the doors, hood and front fenders and make it in unicolor. On the other hand, you can make a contrast by choosing another shade for the roof, rear fenders, rear end, sills, and lower front bumper. As you can see, there is an option where you can make your entire Bugatti Chiron in exposed carbon fiber.

Next, the brake calipers are painted in the color scheme chosen for the exterior, while the alloys are various and offer an abundance of options. Unfortunately, we don’t have any pictures of the interior but we can surely tell that it will be in perfect harmony with the external outlook of the Bugatti.

At last, Bugatti has already gathered 180 deposits before the Geneva Motor Show had even started and is probably now close to 200. The deposits are around €200,000 ($250,000 USD). The process of building (and waiting) will be long, since Bugatti will make up to 65 cars per year, making a production end around 2024.

Bugatti Chiron is limited to a series of 500 units and will have a market launch in autumn 2016 with a starting price of €2.4 million.

  • The Fastest and Most Powerful Bugatti Chiron Makes Geneva Premiere

Bugatti Chiron Front ViewBugatti Chiron is a name to remember, not only because it is the latest creation of the ultra-luxury sports car brand, but also because it is expected to achieve great results in the future being absolutely ready for a new world speed record. If you are somewhere near Geneva, then go visit the Motor Show that is currently happening there. You will have the opportunity to witness the world premiere of a future legend, the new Chiron, which is planned to be built in 500 examples only. So this might be your only chance (Bugatti stand is located in Hall Nr.1).

The French luxury brand says that this is “the most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car in the world” and we are likely to believe it! There are several reasons: first it has a power output of 1,500 HP (1103 kW), which is absolutely unprecedented for a production vehicle. Secondly, it has “huge” torque value of 1,600 Nm (1180 lb-ft), which is available between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm.

Next, it is expected that the Chiron will become the next world speed record holder, meaning that it will achieve a maximum speed significantly above the record currently held by Bugatti. In the case of the production variant of the mode, the manufacturer has limited the Vmax to 420 km/h, achieved in the Top Speed mode.

    Bugatti Chiron Interior

These numbers are possible because of the unique eight-litre W16 engine that comes in combination with the four new, larger turbochargers controlled by the company’s two-stage turbocharging.

Furthermore, the Chiron is built over a new carbon fibre monocoque, it features absolutely new adaptive chassis, and runs on tires developed especially for Bugatti. In addition, the supersports car also includes other innovative technologies that make it agile, modern and with handling that delivers optimum driving pleasure.

Bugatti’s DNA has been applied to the design of the car conveying its distinctive features interpreted in a modern way. There have been added new features resulting from the technical demands of even higher performance.

At last, Bugatti Chiron is going to be built in Molsheim and can be currently. Each of the 500 examples will have a starting price of €2.4 million. The first vehicle is due to be delivered this autumn.

  • Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is Dedicated to the Fans. Takes the Stage in Frankfurt [VIDEO]

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Front ViewBugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is something you have already seen. But what you haven’t witnessed is its birth at the Frankfurt Motor Show, where it takes the stage to make an official premiere. The virtual concept has been designed exclusively for PlayStation and in particular for the video game Gran Turismo. However, Bugatti says that the car is dedicated to the fans. Why? Because thanks to the game, the supersports car can be accessed by millions of fans throughout the world. And this is company’s way to say ‘Thank you!’

Exterior Shows the New Bugatti Design DNA

The design of the car celebrates Bugatti’s racing tradition of the 1920s and 1930s, in particular its victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. It features innovative motorsport technology and is destined to mark a new chapter in the company’s history. The reason for this is that the virtual project gives actually a glimpse of the brand’s future design language.

SEE ALSO: 2015 Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept is Here and it is Real!

As a matter of fact, the designers and engineers worked together and in close collaboration to develop the virtual race car. There are two key points important for both teams: they had to create a virtual vehicle that has the distinctive Bugatti appearance, and second, every component of it should have a real performance function.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Front and Side View

The design is very real; and although the car is only a virtual project, it leaves the feeling that it will be a real production vehicle. By the way the project is based on development team’s latest simulation models of driving dynamics and aerodynamics. And if it was real it could drive at over 400 kph (250 mph) on four sections of the virtual Le Mans track. Well, the W16 engine that powers the car also helps for this purpose.

The exterior of this Bugatti is pretty impressive. It has the typical for the brand large convex surfaces, which are ‘contrasted’ with concave transitions and strong lines. The cockpit lies as low as possible and combined with the V-shaped front end and short rear overhang; they all indicate powerful forward thrust.

The design is so typically Bugatti: the famous Bugatti line for example is featured on the side profile of the Vision Gran Turismo. A signature two-tone finish also plays very important role ad makes a strong statement about the origin of this car.

Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Side View

The Bugatti symbol on the front grille and the eight-eye headlights at its sides also make a strong impact regarding the specifics of Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo’s design. As a matter of fact, the lights have aerodynamic function, because they act as air intakes to cool the brakes.

Furthermore, the centre fin is derived from the legendary 1936 Type 57 Atlantic. The rear in general looks spectacular. It features strong trailing edge that provides excellent driving stability, and exhausts the hot air from the engine compartment.

    Functional Interior

    Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Interior

The same design philosophy applied on the exterior has been implemented inside. The interior features clean lines, two-tone finish and is dressed in luxurious materials such as carbon fiber and finest leather for the upholstery. In fact, the striking centre fin of the roof is echoed in the interior. Here it divides the cockpit from the rest of the interior and merges with the central console below.

There are two convex displays that show important information. The first one is positioned on the steering wheel and shows all the relevant vehicle information. The second is located on the steering column and displays the images gathered from the three cameras mounted on the outside of the vehicle.

And if you happen to be at the Frankfurt Motor Show, join Bugatti at its stand, where the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo show car will be on display. The time to do that is between 17th and 27th of September.

This whole project is a big tribute to the great racing tradition of the 1920s and 1930s and all the victories in Le Mans 24-hour races.

The designers and engineers have transferred the most important characteristics of Bugatti’s design into the virtual sports vehicle. As you can see, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo has all these well-known Bugatti lines and recognizable symbols. For example, the vehicle comes with the famous horse shoe on the front grille. It is further flanked by the eight-eyed stylish headlights which were especially developed for the Gran Turismo model.

2015 Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept

Another typical Bugatti element is the centre fin, which originated on the notorious Type 57 Atlantic from 1936. Now the designers come up with two versions: one on the front and rear wings and one running the length of the roof, where it makes an important contribution the vehicle’s dynamic stability.

In fact, there is one more interesting detail. This is the NACA roof air intaker which has not only stylish shape but also gives that critical contribution to the control of the aerodynamics. How cool is that? The vehicle also has a strong trailing edge which provides longitudinal-dynamic stability, and contributes to the overall performance.

  • Bugatti Introduces Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition

Qatar Motor Show starts on 6th of February and this is where Bugatti will bring world’s fastest production car: Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. Officially confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records, the 1,200 hp bolide set the world speed record for production cars in 2010 with an average maximum speed of 431.072 km/h. And interestingly enough, this record can’t still be beaten.

For the first time Bugatti will display the vehicle in its original configuration as a World Record Edition. The original Veyron 16.4 Super Sport was introduced in 2010 and it has been sold out for quite some time.

To remind you, the Super Sport’s record-setting run took place on 26 June 2010 at the Volkswagen grounds in Germany. The official pilot of the company was Pierre-Henri Raphanel. And in accordance with the Guinness rules, Raphanel had to drive the Super Sport down the long straight twice, once in each direction. Guinness then estimated the average from the maximum speed attained on each run, and it was 431.072 km/h.

In terms of technical data the car is pretty impressive. It is driven by the 8-litre W16 engine that can produce 1,200 hp (882 kW) and a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (1107 lb-ft). This translates to a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds.

The exterior shell of the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is made completely of carbon-fibre. The aerodynamically modified body improves the efficiency and provides better balance. The monocoque is also full-carbon and it guarantees great high torsional rigidity with maximum safety.

The vehicle has a long, low silhouette, which further improves aerodynamics. Instead of the usual air scoops over the engine, a pair of NACA ducts set in the roof delivers air to the powerplant. The front of this Bugatti is characterised by larger air inlets, while the back – by a double diffuser and centrally located exhaust system.

2015 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition can be identified by its two-tone finish that includes black carbon and orange color.

  • Bugatti 12.4 Atlantique Grand Sport Concept by Alan Guerzoni [VIDEO]

Alan Guerzoni is a very talented young designer who is inspired by classical vehicles such as the 1931 Bugatti Type 40. The evidence for this is just before your eyes. The pictures in the gallery below as well as the one featured in the post depict what the imagination of the creative has done to interpret the old model into a contemporary car. And we all love what he has done!

In fact, this is his second version of the so called Atlantique concept. The designer has worked on the first one which is a coupe and has further developed it so that he can now present the spectacular open-top version.

The spider carries the spirit of comfort, luxury and elegance. In addition, he created it with the intention to be capable of exhilarating performances. This “Grand Sport” is already known as the opened Veyron.

It features a carbon roof, which elegantly disappears in a few seconds. It sinks in a special space in the rear trunk with the help of an electrical mechanism. Furthermore, the Atlantique Grand Sport has new black rims with diamond finish and design inspired by the classic Bugatti radiator grille.

The designer envisions this concept to be powered by bi-turbo 4 liters V12 engine, which is capable of producing 650 horsepower (478 kW). The gasoline unit drives the rear wheels, while additional 200 horsepower (147 kW) are sent to the front wheels thanks to an electric motor and a KERS system. With so much power this Bugatti accelerates for 3.2 seconds from 0 to 60 mph on its way to a top speed of 350 km/h.

  • Ettore Bugatti Legend Makes European Premiere

Ettore-Bugatti-Veyron-THUMBEttore Bugatti, the last legend was revealed in August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Now, the unique model is making European premiere in Paris. This is the sixth and final model of its Edition „Les Légendes de Bugatti”. It is dedicated to Ettore Bugatti, who was the founder and patron of the brand. What is more, at the event, the luxury company is also celebrating the successful completion of its Legends Edition.

From the six Legends, Bugatti will build only three vehicles per model. This makes 18 vehicles in total, and they have been sold out even before the final model was unveiled. With these editions, Bugatti honors important personalities and cars in its company history.

Last year, the super sports car manufacturer presented the Legends model “Jean-Pierre Wimille” in California, then “Jean Bugatti” was revealed at the IAA in Frankfurt, while the “Meo Costantini” was shown at the Dubai Motorshow. This year, the company revealed the “Rembrandt Bugatti” at the Automobile Salon in Geneva and “Black Bess” at Auto China in Peking.

Ettore Bugatti is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, just like the other Legends. The sports car produces powerful 1200 horsepower (882 kW) from its 8-liter W16 engine, which in addition generates 1500 Nm (1106 lb.-ft.) of torque at 3000-5000 rpm. This car needs only 2.6 seconds to cover the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) on its way to a top speed of 408.84 km/h (254 mph). These numbers make it world’s fastest production roadster ever built.

This is also one of the most expensive production super sports cars. Veyron is limited to 450 units in total, from which 300 are coupes and they are already sold out, and 150 roadsters. After all Veyrons have been built, Bugatti will begin a new chapter in its history of success.
