  • B&B Automobiltechnik Shows How to Boost Performance of BMW M4/M3

B&B Automobiltechnik BMW M4 F82 Front ViewB&B Automobiltechnik has created a special comprehensive performance package not for one but two models of the BMW M family. We are talking about the M3 (F80) and M4 (F82), and the particular illustrated example is BMW M4 Convertible. The pack is broad and features a lot of tweaks for the engine and the handing. The main goal is to boost as much as possible the performance and driving capabilities of the car.

    How to Boost Performance?

If you have ever wondered about the ways to boost the performance of your car, here are some ideas that might be useful to you. In terms of software, B&B is offering a three-staged program, which uplifst dramatically the power and torque of the BMW TwinPower Turbo straight-six engine. As a standard the unit produces 431 hp (317 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque.

SEE ALSO: Power Boosts Define B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee

The intermediate Stages 1 and 2 uprate these numbers to 490 hp (360 kW) and 540 hp (397 kW), respectively, while the highest one uplifts the horses to 580 hp (426 kW) and the torque to 750 Nm (555 lb-ft). All three stages feature software adaptation for the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and removal of the top speed limiter.

    B&B Automobiltechnik BMW M4 F82 Engine

Next, additional performance boosts were achieved with modified turbochargers, higher-flow intake tract, larger exhaust downpipes, more efficient charge air cooler, and an ECU remap with revised fuel, spark and boost parameters.

But let me impress you with more details. In Stage 3, the M3 and M4 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, in comparison to the standard 4.6 seconds. The 0-200-km/h time is reduced from 13.4 to 11.2 seconds, while the Vmax goes over 330 km/h.

Something you need if you add all of this inside your M4 is B&B’s thermostatically-controlled supplementary oil cooler system. It is recommended for all three engine upgrade stages, because it lowers thermal stress on the motor by reducing oil temperatures by up to 25°C.

    Handling And More…

    B&B Automobiltechnik BMW M4 F82 Front End

Boosts in performance require optimized handling. B&B offers various ways of doing it: a threaded height adjustable sport suspension kit (lowering up to 25 mm), set of sport springs (lowering up to 30 mm) and the super cool KW coil-over suspension. The latter offers ride height and damper bounce, thus substantially enhances chassis performance.

High performance brake system was added and it comprises of 396 mm and 380 mm vented discs. At last, rounding out this tuning are the B&B 9.0 and 11.0×20-inch alloy wheels shod with 255/30R20 and 305/25R20 tires.

  • BMW 1 Series M Coupe has Gained an Addition of 224 HP. See the Result!

Alpha-N Performance BMW 1 Series M Coupe Front ViewAlpha-N Performance is a tuning company famous for its attraction for BMW cars and its urge to uprate their power. This time we are about to witness how 1 Series M Coupé has become something more than just another BMW with “M” letter. We’ll go into details, but let’s take a look at some “stock” information first.

The inherent performance of the car has been used as a basis for its upgrade. The 1 Series M Coupé produces 340 hp (250 kW) from its TwinPower Turbo N54B30 straight-six engine. This is pretty good, isn’t it?

This is the reason, because of which the specialists didn’t choose to make “simple” software remapping, but went back to basics by first addressing the flow capacity of the engine’s forced aspirated system.

SEE ALSO: Alpha-N Performance Releases EVOX Upgrade for BMW 4-Series

The in-house turbocharger upgrade uses larger compressor and turbine wheels in a modified housing. This results in gains in terms of power. The efficiency was improved as well, while the charge air temperature was reduced with a Wagner Tuning EVO3 intercooler. In order to increase the airflow velocity and volume, a larger Charge-pipe system with Forge Blow-Off Valve was installed. Updates were done on the fuel pump, spark plugs and ignition coil packs. The exhaust has been enhanced via Wagner downpipes, and a free-flow middle silencer in the ‘Race’ version, which feeds the standard rear silencer box.

Alpha-N Performance BMW 1 Series M Coupe Box

There is something fascinating here. To cool the top-end of the engine during combustion, 9.5-liter tank and its bespoke pump were installed in the boot. This is actually a Snow Stage 3 water-methanol injection system, calibrated for a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and ethanol. It also boosts the output significantly.

The hardware upgrades were then complemented by ECU remap of the fuel, spark and boost pressure parameters. The final result is spectacular and it is the sensational 564 hp (415 kW) and an impressive peak torque of 734 Nm (542 lb-ft). This makes more than 220 horsepower in addition! The newfound power is transferred to the drivetrain via competition grade clutch mated to a proprietary single-mass flywheel made of from high-grade steel.

Alpha-N Performance BMW 1 Series M Coupe Interior

The suspension was also improved via fully adjustable coil-overs that can be set up for road or track use. On the outside the car also got new BMW Performance front splitter and rear spoiler lip, thus reducing lift at both ends and giving the car a more purposeful look.

At last, we should mention the changes that have happened to the cabin. They include hard shell backed sport seats and sports steering wheel with LED upshift indicator and central display window. It seems that they are crucial aids that boost driver’s focus.

In addition, the installed Evo exhaust system has significant part of the fulminate Performance of this M3. The new exhaust and all of the “surgical” changes on this BMW are all work of the Clubsport team.

    Exterior Changes

And have you spotted the huge 19-inch black rims, which were coated with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires in 245/35-19 on front and 265/35-19 on the rear axle. The tuners also installed spacer plates of 10 mm on the front and 15 mm on rear axle, KW Clubsport variant 2 coilovers with camber regulation combined with H&R stabilizer kit, and the yellow painted Stoptech braking system.

  • BMW to Introduce AirTouch at Consumer Electronics Show

AirTouch by BMWBMW is getting ready for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place between 6th and 9th January in Las Vegas. The company will happily present there a so called Vision Car, which will have a single purpose: to demonstrate the interior of the future including a modern user interface. Why is this needed? Because of the faster and faster advance of networking between driver, car and environment, which is becoming more intensive.

The first instance of new technologies that works in favor of networking is the AirTouch. This is a feature, which provides intuitive control of entertainment, navigation and communication functions. The driver or any of the occupants can use only a basic gestures made with a flat hand to control it.

In other words, the AirTouch also allows the display in a vehicle to be utilized like a touchscreen, but with one difference, one doesn’t have to make contact with the surface. This is possible via sensors, which record the hand movements in the area between the central console and the interior mirror. As a result, drivers or occupants can change the focus on the surface of the large panorama display. What is more, sensors on the instrument dashboard allow 3D control.

SEE ALSO: The Force Awakens with Top 5 Star Wars Themed Cars

How to confirm an action: first – with a simple gesture, or secondly through a concealed AirTouch button, which is located on the rim of the steering wheel. It is positioned on the left and it is easy to reach with the thumb. It also lights up when a menu or icon can be activated and a single tap is enough to activate the desired program or change a setting.

But this is not all. There is another button like this specifically intended for the front passenger. It is located at the side sill in the door area and it allows passengers to use one hand to navigate through the menu and the other hand to confirm inputs very quickly.

Another highlight in the new AirTouch technology is the intelligent menu control, which the number of steps needed to make a selection. Basically, AirTouch “guesses” which selection and control steps are required next and displays them in advance.

A year ago, BMW presented “BMW Gesture Control” at the CES, so AirTouch seem to be a continuation of their good work. The previous gesture control enabled simple movements of a finger to carry out actions such accepting phone calls and was available in the new BMW 7 Series. It is obvious that the AirTouch is another big leap forward for the brand.

  • G-Power Says Goodbye to 2015 with Special BMW M3 RS E9X

2015 G-Power BMW M3 RS E9X Front ViewG-Power has released its last project for 2015. As the year went by we witnessed some great tunings and this one here is another example of the exquisite work of the specialists. Under the attention of the masters is the BMW M3 E9X considered as the perfect base for a track day car. In combination with their SK III supercharger and the carbon-fibre aerodynamic parts, the M3 easily becomes M3 RS – a “serious player in the supercar league”.

    Faster & Faster

There are two ways to make a car faster. The first one is to add power to its engine. The second: to reduce its weight by replacing some of the components with lightweight ones. But if you want to make an already faster car even faster, then you should first add the extra power and then use some carbon-fiber… or the other way around. This was basically the idea under the work of the experts at G-Power.

    Carbon Manifesto

    2015 G-Power BMW M3 RS E9X Rear View

Te tuning company undertook an in-house CAD development program to manifest one-off carbon-fibre aerodynamic components for the BMW M3 E9X. As you can clearly see, the largest carbon-fibre component on the car is the vented Carbon Venturi bonnet ‘RR’. It is not only the largest but also the lightest you will find on the market with weight of just 8.4 kg. This is a saving of 2.6 kg. In addition, this component was designed to dissipate the extra heat produced by the uprated engine.

SEE ALSO: G-Power and the Beautifully Uprated M4 F82 Bi-Tronik [VIDEO]

G-Power ‘RS’ carbon-fibre front spoiler is available with or without air intakes and it reduces the lift over the front axle. At the rear, the ‘RS’ carbon-fibre boot lid in GTS style saves almost 5.0 kg… and due to CNC-machined aluminium struts it weighs just 1.2 kg.

    Supercharged Power

    2015 G-Power BMW M3 RS E9X Engine

G-Power SK III supercharger system is increasing the power output of this BMW so dramatically that it can be mistaken with some sort of rally car. Basically the horses were pumped up to 740 hp (544 kW), while the torque – to 700 Nm (517 lb-ft).

If you are familiar with the capabilities of the M3, then you have already grasped how huge the power increase is. There are 320 hp and 300 Nm in addition. The huge extra power is achieved through a displacement increase from 4.0 to 4.6-litres, followed by the installation of an ASA T1-724 supercharger with a high efficiency charge-air intercooler.

The powerplant is complemented with in-house crafted titanium exhaust, which incorporates a pair of 100-cell metal sport catalysts. The weight saving is 26 kg over the original steel system.

At last, we should mention that the M3 RS E9X runs on HURRICANE RR forged alloy wheels, sized 9.0 and 10.5×20-inches at the front and rear respectively, and coupled with 245/30ZR20 and 295/25ZR20 Michelin tires.

    G-POWER M3 RS E9X Fast Facts:

    • 740 hp / 544 kW at 8100rpm. (+ 320 hp / 235 kW)
    • 700 Nm at 5,900 rpm. (+ 300 Nm)

And by the way, with the replacement that BMW made, I mean – substituting the 3-Series Coupe and Cabriolet with the 4-Series, the company further differentiated these sportier variants from the four and five-door models. They look fantastic and the driving experience they offer is one-off.

The engine upgrade pack offered by Alpha-N Performance is now ready to infuse the BMW 4 Series models with more performance. Under the hood of the BMW 435i we have the TwinPower Turbo straight-six, which has a stock 306 hp (225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). Basically, the Alpha-N EVOX PowerPlus ECU tuning box takes this to 367 hp (270 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft).

Powering the 435d is the six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine. It has a stock power output of 313 hp (230 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. With the EVOX box in place, these numbers jump at 374 hp (275 kW) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. With the improvement of power we also expect to see better acceleration times. However, Alpha-N Performance did not say any details regarding these matters.

A larger intercooler was also installed to balance the enhanced performance. The chassis Öhlins Road&Track coilover suspension, which is entirely adjustable and allows lowering of up to 25 mm. At last, Alpha-N also added a set 19-inch OZ Racing Superturismo alloy wheels, which were shod with 235/35R19 and 255/30R19 tires.

So, if you are still wandering about a Christmas present, this performance pack seems absolutely appropriate.
