  • A Subtle LEIB Engineering BMW E93 M3

    LEIB-Engineering-BMW-E93-M3-shadowLEIB-Engineering-BMW-E93-M3-medium

At first glance, you might think that there’s nothing out of the ordinary with this compact BMW. You’d even be hard pressed to identify it as an E93 M3, but it is. Not only that, but it has also been through the works of LEIB Engineering – a group of after-market experts based in Germany who have chosen to approach the Bavarian in a very subtle way. Even the wheels were specifically chosen not to impress – 1-series M coupé alloys in sizes 9×19 and 10×19

Of course that elegant discreetness vaporizes once you open the bonnet. The signature orange of the SK II CS compressor system make your eyes bleed. That’s right. LEIB Engineering are working exclusively with G-Power components. In other words, we have a belt ASA T1-523 supercharger, and additional fuel pump, new injector nozzles, colder type of spark plugs and an induction air track made from a blend of carbon fiber and stainless steel. Sports air filters and ECU tweaking also come with the package. What you get then, is a 610 hp V8 with 590 Nm of torque.

There’s a proper sound track as well: a custom made exhaust system which features not only a double 100-cell sports catalytic converter, but also a valve which can be controlled from the steering wheel:

“This allows for the modification of the exhaust sound with a touch of the button, from the sonorous yet non-pervasive rumble up until the virtually unfiltered and ear-splitting V8 roar.” – argue from LEIB

As a final touch, a KW DDC coilover kit has been bolted on and integrated with the M’s iDrive software so that you can fiddle with the settings at any given moment.

  • The Last Fourth-Generation BMW M3 Coupe

BMW-M3-Coupe-651-THUMBThe production of the two-door BMW M3 Coupe has officially ended ant in fact the orange car you see above is the last one of the series. However, the racing career of the model continues, since the car achieves one victory after another.

In fact, the high-performance sports car won DTM and American Le Mans Series. Now it is ending its career on the “legal” road after more than 40 000 examples have left the factory. Nevertheless, the M3 Convertible powered by a V8 engine will still be in production until September this year.

BMW M3 has a long history in racing which started in 1986. The fourth generation of the iconic model included the innovative technology that resulted in more intense driving, athletic design, hallmark M precision and top-class performance capability. As a matter of fact, up too date have been built 40 000 units of the coupe, 10 000 units of the Sedan and just under 16 000 units of the Convertible.

What is common between the three body variants is their powertrain and chassis technology, which stems directly from motor sport. Under their hood one can find the 4.0-liter V8 engine which has cylinder banks positioned at a 90-degree angle to one another.

It produces output of 414 hp (305 kW) and generates peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) and revs to a maximum 8,400 rpm. Numerous construction details, such as the electronically controlled individual throttle butterflies, ion current knock control and dynamically optimized oil supply, were taken straight from motor racing.

Furthermore, a lightweight chassis was specifically developed for the M3. It included a front axle secured to the body by an aluminum stiffening plate and a five-link rear axle with hollow-tube anti-roll bar and forged aluminum axle control arms. In addition they were complemented by a rack-and-pinion steering system with M-specific Servotronic and the variable M differential lock.

As a standard the fourth-generation BMW M3 was fitted with a high-performance compound braking system and optionally one could chose three-mode Electronic Damper Control system and M DCT with Drivelogic. • Leib BMW M3 GT 500 Delivers 470 Horsepower

Leib-BMW-M3-GT-500-THUMBLeib BMW M3 GT 500 is a tuning worth the attention. The performance specialists at Leib Engineering have presented their first project vehicle which is the perfect balance between the fast club sport racing element and the element of the representative “Boulevard-Beau“.

In other words the BMW looks stunningly beautiful, because the tuners gave it high-grade finishing through a OEM carbon fiber parts. They in turn contrast the alpine white paintwork. In particular, the carbon flaps are positioned under the front spoiler, the side-view mirror and the tear-off edge are also made of carbon.

Another highlight in this transformed car is the new in-house valve exhaust system which is made of high-grade steel and which covers a 100-cell HJS catalyzer, an X-pipe with middle silencers and an end muffler with vacuum-controlled Pierburg valves. The sound of the system is controlled through the M-key.

To go even further into detials, the performance boost equals circa 27.5 horsepower achieved through the optimization of the engine software in such a way that altogether, a good 470 hp (345 kW) is sent in the direction of the drive train – Suction Tuning par excellence.

The additional power is balanced through the instalation of Brembo GT braking system, whose red six-piston fixed saddles on the front axle hold perforated 380×32-millimeter discs firmly in their grip. The four-piston saddles on perforated 320×28-millimeter brake discs act on the rear.

Moreover, the Leib BMW M3 GT 500 runs on BMW M220 forged alloy wheels of size 8.5×19 and 9.5×19 inches for the front and the rear respectively. They were matched with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup semi-slicks in sizes 235/35R19 and 265/30R19.

On the other hand the ABS software was especially designed for motor sport application with semi-slicks, in such a way that even shorter breaking distance can now be achieved. The dual clutch transmission system oprates with even shorter shifting times after a software update.

What is more, the electronic system of the KW DDC ECU chassis suspension was tuned by Leib Engineering. The result is that now the electronic damper control system of the high-tech coilover suspension can controlled through the original EDC key or M key.

At last, the interior has been also „touched“. Throughout the cabin one can see fine alcantara, in fact the BMW Performance seats and the steering wheel were all wrapped with this material.

  • Manhart BMW M3 E92 MH3 V8 R Biturbo Convertible Produces 655 Horsepower

Manhart-BMW-M3-E92-MH3-V8-THUMBManhart BMW M3 E92 MH3 V8 R Biturbo Convertible is the next exciting project that the specialists from Manhart Racing have prepared for us today. The performance professionals, based in Wuppertal, Germany, achieved the goal to create the quickest and most powerful convertible.

What helped them achieve this aim is the 4.4 litre V8 twin-turbo engine from the X6 M, fitted with a large carbon-fibre cover. Additionally, they developed software, which increased engine’s performance up to the breath-taking 655 horsepower. What is more, the maximum torque was increased to the phenomenal 975 Nm (720 lb-ft).

The powerful engine of this BMW was mated to a six-speed sports automatic transmission from the X6 M. The latter was also fitted with a differential lock for optimal traction.

Of course, as the previous tuning, Manhart Racing has removed the electronic Vmax limiter, and now the German machine can reach a maximum top speed of 320 km/h. Furthermore, in order to get rid of the engine exhaust fumes, there were installed stainless steel downpipes, as well as an Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust system with a 200 cpsi sports catalytic converter system and four 90 mm tail pipes.

Moreover, the MH3 V8 R Biturbo has been equipped with a robust MHR braking system with four-piston calliper brake pads and 396 mm brake discs (taken from the X6 M, with the discs being retrospectively drilled) on the front axle and 374 mm brake discs on the rear axle.

The transformation was continued on the outside too. MHR carbon-fibre elements were added here and they give the vehicle the look of a sports car: GTR air intakes, the mirror caps and the diffuser can be noted effortlessly. In addition, BMW performance carbon flaps have been installed and MHR decorative strips have been applied.

The BMW now races down the streets on an extra-light MHR Concave One Ultra-light forged wheels of impressive size: the 9×20 inch and 12×20 inch wheels fit perfectly with the high-performance tyres of size 255/30ZR20 up front and 305/25ZR20 at the back, respectively. Here is also important to mention the MHR suspension system (by KW V3) with in-house adjustment.
