  • Audi Brings Together All Le Mans Winner Models

With the 29 days until the Le Mans 24 Hours event, Audi is preparing for battle for its 14th victory in world’s hardest race. As you might know, Audi has won the race 13 times since 2000. And now the team is preparing for one more try. Another interesting fact is that Audi assembled all of the Le Mans winning modes for a big group photo.

The victorious start was set with Audi R8 in 2000. The winning model featured simple design to ensure quick repairs. A year later, in 2001, FSI technology made it through the development of engines. The gasoline direct injection and the optimized consumption played its role: between 2000 and 2005 Audi has won Le Mans race five times.

SEE ALSO: Audi TT Clubsport Debuts at Wörthersee

In 2006 Audi came with another innovative system. The R10 TDI was the first Le Mans winner with diesel power. Something more. Ever since then, Audi relies only on diesel engines for the race.

In fact, the R15 TDI is known and for one more event. It broke the 39-years record at La Sarthe in 2010. And as you know, a year later in 2011 the Audi R18 TDI debuted. The latest car become an instant winner, because of the aerodynamics and the incredible fuel efficiency.

And since then, Audi LMP1 cars have been designated as R18. The 2012 R18 e-Tron Quattro is the first Audi hybrid sports car, that marked the next big step. The brand set the milestone at Le Mans in 2013, when won one more time with upgraded version of the model. With a V6 TDI engine in the rear and with the hybrid system at the front, this car dominated the race. Since then Audi continues to work hard and improve the hybrid technology. In 2014 it won one more time with even faster laps, but with lesser fuel consumption: it used 22% lesser fuel energy, compared to the last race.

We wish Audi team good luck and to be even more successful not only at Le Mans race, but also in the field of producing technology.

  • How About 400HP Golf and a TT at Wörthersee? This Time both from ABT Sportsline

Not one but two debuts for ABT Sportsline at the Wörthersee meeting this year. The first car is a tuned Golf, which can pump out more than 400 horses, while the second is a TT coupe. The event has started yesterday and since then we are eagerly anticipating what’s next. Just to tease you a bit, prepare yourself for the reveal of the Fabia R5 Combi concept.

    ABT and VW Golf R

The relationship between these two is not new.  We’ve seen a lot of great projects by this tuner involving a Golf model. In fact ABT Sportsline is world’s largest tuner of vehicles produced by Volkswagen.

    Engine

This time the biggest highlight here is that the production output of car’s engine has been improved with 100 hp. As a standard the unit under the hood produces around 300 hp (221 kW), but after ABT’s treatment the car is capable of generating 400 hp (294 kW).

    Exterior

The exterior stance of the model is stunning. The car has been wrapped with aggressive bilious green foil. The same color can be seen in the bi-colored 20-inch ABT-FR wheels. At the front new is the in-house made front grille, which perfectly complements the head light covers and side skirts. At the back there is a tailgate add-on accompanied by four mighty 102mm black-chrome-plated tailpipes.

    ABT and Audi TT

The last project of the tuner we’ve seen included the Audi TT in a cabrio variant. This time, the car is the same but in a coupe form. This vehicle has also received some power upgrades as well as exterior enhancements and it definitely looks fantastic.

    Engine

Just like its roadster version, this TT’s four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine has been upgraded from 230 hp (169 kW) to a full 310 hp (228 kW) and a torque of 440 Nm (325 lb-ft). In comparison the standard number for the torque is 370 Nm (273 lb-ft).

    Exterior

The outer look of this model also got some modifications. There is a whole body kit added here which comprises of a front skirt add-on, carbon mirror caps, a rear spoiler at the back, accompanied by rear skirt set plus ABT muffler system. At last, there are ABT springs and sway bars that take care for balance and agility.

  • Audi TT Clubsport Debuts at Wörthersee

Audi has just released a video showing more of its Wörthersee concept – the TT clubsport turbo. Next to it, the company will also display some of the latest race cars, performance and production models. However, the highlight for Audi at this event is the TT clubsport turbo, which is a technical concept that combines a powerful TFSI engine with an electric biturbo.

As we told you earlier this week, the concept features wide add-on parts, rear wing and the capability of pushing out more than 600 horses, which equals to 441 kW. In addition, the car has been inspired by 80s show car, the 90 IMSA GTO.

SEE ALSO: Audi is About to Show Its Latest Concept Sports Vehicle

At the heart of this Audi TT is the 2.5 TFSI engine, producing 600 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. In fact, more than 600 Nm of torque are available between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The power is transferred onto the road via a manual six-speed transmission.

    2015-Audi-TT-Concept-Interiro

When this power is combined with lightweight design (the car weighs only 1,396 kg), the result is simply marvelous: it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 310 km/h.

Now take in mind all of the aforementioned data and mix it with the advantage of an electrically driven compressor. The result is that the car will cover 16 meters (52.5 ft) within the first 2.5 seconds. In comparison, without this addition the number will be minus six meters (19.7 ft).

Other data that should be said about this concept is that it rides on 20-inch alloys with six twin-spoke design in a two-color gloss turned finish and matt black look. The will be coupled with 275/30 tires, behind which we see carbon-fiber ceramic brake disks, measuring 370 mm (14.6 in) in diameter.

We did a lot of talking about this car and if you want to remind yourself some important details about it you can go back to the previously released article.

  • Audi Defends its Leading Position in Illuminating Technology

Audi Underground Light TunnelAudi confidently expands its lightning technology and remains on the leading place. The latest project, called the “intelligent laser light for compact and high-resolution adaptive headlights” and has the ambition to create the headlights of the future. The used technology is called  Matrix Laser and will make the road illumination even more flexible and efficient.

Matrix Laser technology is based on the LaserSpot project, that Audi first introduced in the Audi R8 LMX. And now, for the first time bright lasers allow the whole technology to be available in compact and powerful unit, as the headlight is.

The technology itself operates with a micro-mirror, that manages to redirect the laser beam. The dynamics ensure, that when you drive at low speed, you will have a great area in front of you, that is illuminated and when you go on high speed, the angle gets smaller, which results on a higher intensity and range. Handy. As you suggested, this will be extremely helpful gadget, when used on the highway.

SEE ALSO:  Audi on Demand Shows Latest Possibilities for Ownership and Usage

Another intelligent feature is the activation and deactivation of the diodes in relation to the mirror position. This makes the illumination beam responsive and dynamic. The idea behind the dynamics is to make the road highly illuminated, while other drivers and pedestrians get reduced glare. Wonderful tech, when it comes to safety and comfort, isn’t it?

There is even a blue laser diodes, that produce their light on a moving mirror, which blends the blue and white lights and projects them on the road. The mirror, used for the blending is a special Bosch unit, that is based on a silicon technology. These same units are used also for the electronic stability control.

In general, Audi really defends its leading positions, when it comes to illuminating technology and the latest product proves it. Tell me what you think in the comment section.
