  • Can this ABT Audi S6 Beat the RS6 with its 550 HP?

ABT Audi S6 Front and Side ViewThe day begins very nice, not only because of the NSX information, but also because the specialists at ABT Sportsline just sent us a couple of photos and details on their latest project. This time they have worked on an Audi S6, thus giving it super-strengths and some minimal styling tweaks.

The best thing about this tuning is the added “New Generation” performance package, which puts the S6 very near to the RS6. As a result, this car produces 550 hp (404 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb0ft), instead of 450 hp (331 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). The maximum speed was also raised to 290 km/h. Nice, isn’t it? The good news here is that if you have an S7 you can get the same power package.

Hundred additional horses also mean that the car needs new rubbers in 21-inches of size which were of course mated with super cool wheels. The other styling features are the new fender inserts, exposed carbon mirror caps and carbon-made rear spoiler.

SEE ALSO: ABT Releases 400HP Volkswagen Golf R

Moreover, there is an electronic ABT Level Control for the air suspension. It will perfectly position the wheels in their arches, while the lowered CoG will also help the S6 corner much better.

Although there aren’t any pictures of the interior, we believe ABT specialists when they say that it now includes entrance lights with their own start-stop button, floor and trunk mats with tuner’s logo and LED shifting lights in the steering wheel.

Well, does it sound plausible now that the Audi S6 can beat the RS6?

  • Audi e-diesel is the First Fuel with No Environmental Impact

Audi e-diesel Audi is making a step further in the development of CO2-neutral fuels. The company announced that a new plant, based in Dresden, Germany, has initiated the production of high-quality synthetic fuel. The diesel is made from water, CO2 and green power, so there is no need for mineral oil. This is actually great success for Audi, since it advances with its environmental program significantly.

In this program, partner of the automaker is Dresden energy technology corporation “sunfire”. It is also plant operator and uses green power to create liquid fuel. As mentioned, for this process the only raw materials needed are CO2 and water. The first material comes straight from a biogas facility and it is extracted from the ambient air.

The development of Audi e-diesel promises fuel based on CO2 that will literally have no impact on the climate. The use of CO2 as a raw material is also an opportunity for other industries.

But how the production of Audi e-diesel happens? It features several steps. In the first one, water is heated up and then broken down into hydrogen and oxygen. In two further steps, the hydrogen reacts with the CO2 under pressure and at high temperature. As a result of the reaction we have liquid called blue crude.

At last, the blue crude can be refined in order to turn-up into the end product Audi e-diesel. As a synthetic fuel, it is free from sulfur and aromatic hydrocarbons. This fuel is also suitable for combination with fossil diesel or for a use as a fuel in its own. And everything sounds very promising, doesn’t it?

  • Audi Creates Special A6L e-tron Hybrid for the Chinese Market

Audi A6L e-tron The next plug-in hybrid model from Audi, which is going to be exhibited in Shanghai, is the A6 L e-tron. This car isn’t a concept but the German company is actually trying to make the next step toward greater fuel efficiency in China. And for this reason, this sedan has been developed for the Chinese market only.

The model is powered by a 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder, gasoline engine combined with an electric motor. The first power source delivers 211 hp (155 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, while the second provides 124 hp (91 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. This ends up in a total system output of 245 hp (180 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via eight-speed tiptronic transmission.

Despite these numbers, the vehicle needs only 2.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (107 US mpg) and emits 52 grams of CO2 per kilometer. In addition, it is also capable of accelerating very fast: the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h happens in just 8.4 seconds. The top speed is limited to 210 km/h (131 mph).

On electric energy alone, this car is capable of covering 31 miles (50 km), while the total range is 880 kilometers (547 miles). The energy is supported via the 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery which needs about eight hours to be fully recharged.

Inside, the driver will benefit from a powermeter in the instrument cluster. It displays the total system output, monitors the navigation and shows the energy in the hybrid system as well as the range, fuel consumption figures, etc.

But how can we differentiate the ordinary A6 from the hybrid? Well, there are a bunch of visual characteristics like the 18-inch alloys with specific e-tron design, the LED light guides, the e-tron badges on the fenders and the trunk lid, and the diffuser that hides the tailpipes of the exhaust system. Everything else is identical with the standard A6. However, I would choose the lower fuel consumption. How about you?

Audi A6L e-tron will be available in Chinese dealerships next year.

  • Audi Reveals Next Prologue Concept Ahead of Shanghai Reveal

Audi prologue allroad conceptIt is very pleasing when the day ends with good news. The first one is regarding the Audi prologue allroad concept, which has been announced to debut at the Auto Shanghai. This is actually the third member of the prologue family, which is suitable for all types of roads. Again, it is a hybrid and therefore it is powerful and efficient. This car is a re-interpretation of the typical allroad cars and gives a hit of company’s future design.

5.13 meters long, the prologue allroad emphasizes elegance and dynamism. The concept runs on 22‑inch five-spoke wheels, it is painted and Dehua White and features aluminium accents – these are some of the special treatments here.

The front is dominated by the single-frame grille, wedge-shaped headlights and LED light guides. At the back we also have LEDs as well as rear apron with flat openings that integrates the exhaust system.

In fact, the interior is a luxurious lounge. There is everything that one needs in terms of comfort and even more: continuous centre console, upholstered floating seats for the front and rear passengers, innovative horizontal instrument panel, air-conditioning, etc.

More important is the technology which makes this Audi powerful on the road, superior in any terrain and extremely efficient. This is the powertrain of course. The 4-liter V8 TFSI engine is coupled with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic in the name of delivering more than 734 hp (542 kW) of total system output and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.

This amazingly high output takes the vehicle from 0 to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds. Despite this, the prologue allroad concept is capable of achieving up to 117 mpg and is emitting 56 grams of CO2 per kilometer. In addition, the lithium-ion battery is capable of lasting for 33 miles.

This is a nice start for Audi at Auto Shanghai, isn’t it?

  • Jon Olsson is ready for Gumball 3000 with a fierce Audi RS6

Jon Olsson and his Audi RS6 DTM-Jon Olsson is obviously more than ready for the strongly awaited Gumball 3000, since he has officially unveiled a DTM inspired Audi RS6, that was specifically made for the rally. He will drive this car for Team Betsafe in the aforementioned event, which begins on 23rd of May in Stockholm and ends in Vegas.

Olsson says that he always dreamt to build a similar DTM-inspired car which has enough space to carry all ski gear to the slopes. To make everything possible, he teamed up with the ex-Koenigsegg chief engineer, Leif Tufvesson, who is currently working for Caresto.

First thing to mention here is the changed output. Here is where Stertman Motorsport stepped in, delivering STM Stage 3+ kit with super custom 18 karat gold anodized TTE9XX turbo chargers. The result is that horses are jumping between 950 and 1000.

Next, the new power is supported with Intrax Black Titan suspension and the biggest Movit brake, while at the same time there is this huge super mega race exhaust kit from Milltek Sport. The ski box atop was made by 56Nord and it actually looks like a piece of art instead of just another plastic box on the roof.

At last, the final design that Olsson made got to be applied onto the car and this happen via special foil wrap implemented by Wrapzone. This project is making us really impatient for the Gumball. How about you?

  • MTM Unleashes Three Reinterpreted Audis at the Geneva Motor Show

Audi S8 Talladega S, RS6 Clubsport and S3 Cabrio are the MTM remastered models which will gather the glances at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Starting with the first mentioned, the vehicle joins the Audi 200 in its aims to show exhilarating performance records at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Although the current Talladega S is larger, it is still capable of the same velocity due to its powerful unit.

Precisely, the engine produces 802 hp (590 kW) but this is not everything that the car can show-off with. MTM has given it the magic of luxurious interior imbued with carbon-fiber and hand-crafted leather.

At MTM’s Geneva stand we will also see the RS6 Clubsport that is 80 kg lighter than before. The 4.0 TFSi Quattro engine was tweaked and now delivers up to 760 hp (559 kW) and 945 Nm (697 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission here is the 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox and it helps the car score a 3 seconds 0-100 km/h acceleration sprint.

At last, the final Audi in the trio is the S3 Cabrio that stands proud with enhanced 2.0 TFSi unit. The power output is now 426 hp (313 kW) and the torque reaches 530 Nm (391 lb-ft). It is therefore no surprise that the open-top S3 can reach the 100 km/h in a mere 5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 270 km/h.

If you wonder about the modification, well MTM has ensured that the powerplant gets a turbocharger and ECU mapping as well as modified Cat and exhaust system. Each of the cars has also received chassis refinement. Which one would you like to drive?

  • Forget the Teasers! 2016 Audi R8 is Finally Here!

It is finally here! Audi took the wraps off of its newest model named Audi R8. It will be debuting during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next week, promising to deliver a genuine definition of an evolutionary styling and driving capabilities. The overhauled second generation R8 is powered by an improved V10 5.2-liter FSI naturally aspirated power unit which offers 540 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of maximum torque in the base model, and generates 610 HP (449 kW) with a peak torque of 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) in the V10 Plus variant.

When we talk about performance, the revamped Audi R8 needs exactly 3.5 seconds to sprint from standstill to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) before hitting a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h). Thanks to the Plus mode, this run is covered in 3.2 seconds, thus hitting the 205 mph (330 km/h). The car consumes 11.8 liters per 100 km on average  (19.9 mpg US or 23.9 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 275 g/km.

The R8 V10 Plus consumes 12.4 liters per 100 km (18.9 mpg US or 22.7 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 289 g/km. Both engines are mated to a revised seven-speed S tronic gearbox. It has three automatic modes and manual control and transmits power to a permanent quattro all-wheel drive system fitted with a front electrohydraulic multi-plate clutch.

Arriving with a lighter aluminum body, the long-awaited 2016 Audi R8 is 4.42 meters long (14.5 ft), 1.24 meters high (4.1 ft) and has a relatively short a wheelbase measuring 2.65 meters (8.7 ft). With prominent proportions, the car exhibits sufficient amount of sportiness and characteristics suitable for a real race car. We can see a signelframe front grille, familiar flat LED headlights which can be replaced by optional laser lighting clusters with extended range of up to 600 meters.

Moving to the side profile, this high-performance sports car has curvy lines that continue to the wheels. The prominent shoulder line is formed like a “powerful muscle” and connects the wheels with one another, while dividing the side blades in two. This makes the car appear longer and lends it a more dynamic presence.

At the back, the LED taillights give the vehicle a more mature and serious outline. Also, there is a retractable rear spoiler. The Plus model impresses with a new wing made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The base model moves on 19-inch wheels with 245/35 front and 295/35 rear tires with 20-inch alloys with 245/30 & 305/30 tires available as an option.

In terms of the interior, when we step inside the Audi R8 it feels like we step inside Heaven. The cabin benefits from new bucket seats with stylish looks and a driver-focused cockpit. The latter features a configurable 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit which replaces the tons of buttons and knobs. Buyers are given the opportunity to select either Alcantara, pearl Nappa leather or fine Nappa leather upholsteries.

Set to go on sale this summer, the new Audi R8 has the starting price of €165,000 for the standard model and €187,400 for the Audi R8 V10 Plus.

  • Audi Unveils Hybrid Prologue Avant Concept

The awaited Audi Prologue Avant Concept has been revealed before its official premiere at the Geneva Auto Show next week. We have seen from the teasers that the car has a revolutionary design, which hints to the possible direction of company’s creative philosophy. The car is fitted with new infotainment system and entertainment technology, but most importantly it comes with a hybrid drivetrain.

The high-performance unit is capable of a total of 455 hp (335 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. As a matter of fact, the plug-in hybrid drive of the prologue Avant is almost similar to this of the Q7 e-tron Quattro.

This means that the car is driven by a 3.0 TDI engine combined with a powerful electric motor. The first unit produces 353 hp, while the second one (which by the way is integrated in the transmission) generates additional 100 hp. Speaking about transmissions, the one used here is eight-speed and has the special designation “tiptronic”.  Of course it translates the power to all four wheels.

In terms of acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h, this car does not show anything impressive. In fact, I’ve always thought that Audis are little tardy. The number I am referring to is 5.1 seconds and the top speed is 155 mph.

The “big deal” here is the CO2 gases emitted as well as the efficiency. Audi prologue Avant returns up to 176mpg and emits only 43 grams of CO2 per kilometre. In pure electric drive, the car performs average and shows a range of 33.6 miles. Next thing that must be addressed is the AWC. This abbreviation stands for Audi wireless charging, meaning that the battery of the car can also be charged inductively.

New in the design of the car is the Singleframe grille integrated into the body. The headlamps are another element that needs to be mentioned. They comprise of high-resolution Matrix Laser technology, thanks to which the light is decomposed into many tiny pixels.

The sides of this Audi include flat D-pillars and huge 22-inch wheels fitted with size 285/30 tyres. The car is painted in dark blue color, the outside rear-view mirrors are made from aluminium, while a frame made from polished and matt aluminium surrounds the side windows.

Inside, there is nothing but luxury. The spacious interior is in dark hues and features a dashboard that is composed of three touch displays, showing important information. Furthermore, the upper instrument panel is in lifestyle blue, while sarder brown color has been chosen for the bottom instrument panel, seats and the carpet.

Just like the exterior, the interior features aluminium elements. These include the spokes of the steering wheel, the frames of the driver displays, the door inserts and the mountings and switches of the seats. Natural Unikat leather has been used for the upholstery of the seats, dashboard and centre tunnel console.

You already know that Audi Prologue Avant will have an official world premiere next week in Geneva, and this is the time when we expect to see some more from it. Whether this concept will become a production model, I sincerely doubt, but it is definitely a step further in company’s range of vehicles.
