2016 Audi A3 Hybrid Is the Game-Changer Element in Brand’s History [VIDEO]

2016 Audi A3 Hybrid The launch of Audi A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid this fall is maybe one of the most important moments in the history of Audi. With that said, Audi has lightened another important moment: when Bob Dylan plugged his electric guitar at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

In the special 2:43-minute video on YouTube, Audi pays homage to that model when the rock icon Dylan changed the folk and rock music forever. And Audi of America sponsored the 2015 Newport Folk Festival that occured in July at Newport R.I.

The event and Audi’s participation is of course a large marketing campaign for the well-known car manufacturer. Audi now wants to introduce the American buying public to the brand’s first electrified vehicle offered in US.

As the video demonstrates, as Dylan plugged his guitar and started playing, some of the Newport crowd booed the game-changing idea. In fact, the festival founders interviewed for the video said that they recognized that technology as a force to be reckoned with.

And as Colin Meloy said in the video, Newport suddenly changed its appearance and attitude forever. And all the rock and folk fans out there know what happened next. The electric shift led the whole music industry to a completely new level. The pop and rock music definitely got bolder and more interesting as almost all performers switched to electric guitar music.

RECON MC8 is Here! Meet a Very Special 1000HP Audi R8 by Potter & Rich

Besides the very special photo-shoot that the car received and the exclusive pictures, this Audi has a lot more to show. Proudly presented by Potter & Rich we can’t get enough of it!

Named “RECON MC8”, the vehicle wouldn’t be in this condition if it wasn’t the work of many specialists. The first company that took part in this project was mcchip-dkr. It actually developed the bolide and built it by hand. Spectacular, isn’t it?

At the heart of the RECON MC8 is the serial V10 engine. However, it isn’t in its stock form, but has been charged by mcchip-dkr refitted compressor. In addition, the unit was also equipped with high performance pistons and forged conrod.

The result is as extraordinary as 1000HP… Well, almost 1000HP. The powerplant produces actually 950 HP (699 kW) with 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque! Well, that’s a thing, isn’t it? An interesting fact is that the software was developed on company’s own test stand, and in this setup, it was tested on German highways and on race tracks like the Ascari Race Resort in the Spanish Marbella and Nurburgring’s Northern loop.

What makes this tuning very special is what has happened next. First, the tuners decided to substitute the factory-set four-wheel-drive with a rear-wheel drive. This is for the sake of sportier behavior.

In addition, the Drexler differential lock warrants for a significantly better traction behavior during acceleration and in cornering limits. On the other hand, the seven-speed double coupling gear box brings the concentrated power quasi transition-free down to the road.

The stopping power is ensured by the efficient Brembo motorsports braking system. But what is making the car safer is the one-off KW automotive-made motorsports chassis, paired with hydraulic air system (KW HLS).

Better Sound for the Sensitive Ears

RECON MC8 can also mesmerize you with the sound it makes when the engine is on. It is a result from the cooperation of both Capristo and mcchip-dkr teams. They have developed an innovative sound system that is fully adjustable.

Exterior

Well, we must admit that the exterior is definitely the “Thing” that catches the eye (probably the girl on the pics below, too). The external appearance of this special Audi R8 is characterized by the original Audi R8 LMS Ultra Carbon Body kit. It features impressive optics and low weight, great front flaps, front splitter and massive GT3 rear spoiler.

Wheels and tires have been changed too, and here the work is ought to the specialists at BBS motorsport. They have chosen wider carbon fiber wheels fitted with low-profiles: 11×18 inches with 305/30 ZR18 at the front and 13×18 inches with 335/30 ZR18 at the rear. But there is another wheel-tire combination offered, which is more suitable for ‘everyday life’. It is the three-part LV1 MB-Design rims in 9×20 inches with 245/30 ZR20 rubbers at the front and 11.5×21 with 305/25 ZR21 at the rear.

RECON MC8 seems as comfortable as hell! Parts of the serial R8-V10-Plus have been coated by finest Alcantara in contrasting colors. The instrument cluster was completed by a speedometer extension of up to 430 kmph/270 mph.

Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz and Their Attractive Sub-brands

It has become common place over the decades for manufacturers to entertain a certain sector of the market with high performance versions of their most popular models – or even one-off specials – and while most are well received, some marques stand out among the rest.

The big three German manufacturers of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all arguably have the most attractive sub-brands – RS, M and AMG – appeasing those with a need for speed, great handling and a far more visceral experience from that of their standard models. Examples from the RS, M and AMG departments bring immediate appeal, thanks to their enhanced appearances, exciting aural offerings and their ability to reach the horizon in mere seconds.

A massive advantage for the trio’s more sporting models is the fact that their donor cars were never sluggish or of low quality to start with and on their own offer premium finishes and an overall sorted package, a combination that is even still evident in the second-hand market today.

To celebrate these manufacturers’ ability to bring such majestic and exhilarating models to the fore, here’s a run down of possibly the best examples from each sub brand. Don’t agree with the choices? Let us know your favourite RS, M and AMG models in the comments below.

Audi RS2

For Audi, the RS2 was genesis for the RS program and a project that was to become one of its most iconic cars in the line-up. The RS2 was a joint venture between Audi and compatriots Porsche, resulting in one of the most technologically advanced cars built with an Audi badge on the front at that time.

The compact estate car was built on Audi’s 80 Avant structure, but saw many additions and new parts to make it a superbly fast car; even by today’s numbers, the RS2 could give a Porsche Cayman a run for its money. Under the bonnet was a much modified version of Audi’s 2.2-litre inline five-cylinder turbocharged powertrain, serving up 311bhp; good enough for a 0-62mph sprint of just 4.8sec. One of the most famous stats for the RS2 was that its 0-30mph sprint time (1.5sec) was faster than that of a McLaren F1, as found out by Autocar.

This power was put through a highly effective Quattro four-wheel-drive system that led that way for future RS models, especially its successor the RS4. Admittedly, the RS2 wasn’t the best handling car in the world, thanks to the occasionally violent turbo and fairly steep understeer. However, it had a bucket load of character and to this day is an incredibly difficult car to get hold of, with the odd example with over 100,000 miles on the clock selling for around the £20,000 mark.

Now to BMW’s Motorsport division and a car that many revere as one of the all-time best M3 variants, the CSL. Standing for Coupe Sport Lightweight, the CSL was a raw and highly focused version of the E46 M3 and since its short production time in 2004 has become a modern classic.

An element that ensured the CSL would differ from the ‘standard’ M3 was its loss of 110kg, with many weight-saving applications helping to accomplish this diet, some of which coming straight from its then Formula 1 team. Firstly, a large proportion of the car’s sound deadening was removed, before its electrical architecture was stripped, meaning creature comforts such as electric seats and satellite navigation were taken out, while air con was not standard but could be fitted at no extra cost.

Add to this a carbon roof to bring down the centre of gravity, an extra 17bhp in that straight-six engine and a viciously fast semi-auto SMG gearbox, you’ve got yourself a fairly aggressive package; even more so when you press that all-important ‘M’ button on the steering wheel. A 50:50 weight distribution and this loss of weight also resulted in incredibly accurate handling dynamics, while a tighter steering ratio also did its part to increase the car’s responsive attitude.

When manufacturers create road-going versions of their race cars, you know you’re likely to be in for a treat, and with Mercedes CLK DTM AMG it was no different. Here was a fettled version of the CLK55 AMG coupled with inspiration from the German Touring Car championship, with just 100 coupes and 80 cabriolet versions released.

Mercedes used its supercharged 5.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 for the CLK DTM AMG and upped the power to a massive 582bhp, good for a 0-62mph run of a mere 3.8sec. To give it a more aggressive stance, the track was widened at both the front and rear, while special tyres and suspension modifications were required to keep the car from destroying itself and allow it to take it to a 200mph top speed.

The CLK DTM AMG has since become a bit of a ‘Unicorn’ car and a great investment, with prices commanding various premiums for low mileage examples over the original £180,000 asking price. It was even a car that got many racing drivers’ attention; the likes of Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen and Mikka Hakkinen all at some point owned examples of the car, including the cabriolet.

ABT Sportsline are Back with 430HP Audi RS3

ABT Audi RS3 Front View ABT Sportsline team is back from the summer vacation and this time it presents more potent Audi RS3. There are not a lot of external modifications in this project, but we find that the addition around 60 hp sufficient enough.

Engine Boost

The stock 2.5 TFSI engine of the Audi RS3 produces 367 hp (270 kW). After the addition of ABT Power “New Generation“ and its extra control unit with its software, the sports model can now boast up to 430 hp (316 kW). If you wonder about the maximum torque, it has been raised from 455 Nm (336 lb-ft) to 530 Newton meters (391 lb-ft).

This addition of 75 hp results in faster acceleration time. The tuned RS3 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds on the way to a new electronically limited top speed of 285 km/h.

More horses require more impressive sound, too. Both “stages” of the sound are generated by the 4-pipe exhaust system made of stainless steel and with black chrome-plated tailpipes measuring 102 mm.

Wheels & Tires

There is a choice of alloy wheels like the ER-C or light forged ER-F. For the Audi RS3, both versions are available in 19’-inch size in three different colors: “Gun-Metal”, “Silverbullet” or “Black Magic”. They come with 235/35 R19 tires.

A very fancy feature is the LEDs with the ABT logo as well as the floor mats featuring silver ABT embroidery and curved lines. Both come as an optional specification.

Audi e-tron quattro Concept Revealed with First Sketches. Debuts in Frankfurt

2015 Audi e-tron quattro Concept Side Sketch Audi e-tron quattro concept is going to be one of the main attractions at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2015 in Frankfurt in September. Since there is less than a month until the premiere, Audi has released the first official sketches of the all-electric sporty SUV. Five images give us a very good idea of what we are to expect from brand’s first large-series electric car.

The e-tron quattro concept is a pioneer in its segment. It has been designed from the ground up as an electric car, thus being the first such vehicle in its segment. The visual appearance of the model is built around the design of Audi “Aerosthetics” concept.

The images also show a typical design for the brand with the characteristic SUV body and the flat, coupe-like but spacious cabin.

This means that it combines technical improvements, which reduce the aerodynamic drag and at the same time are so creative that they also appear as design solutions. For instance, there are movable aerodynamic elements at the front, while on the sides and at the rear the specialists at Audi have enhanced the air flow around the car. Moreover, the aerodynamically optimized underbody is entirely closed.

The Battery

This electric SUV has a cd value of 0.25. This in turn considerably contributes to the range of more than 500 kilometers (310 miles), which beats even Tesla Model S. The large lithium-ion battery is mounted between the axles and below the passenger compartment. This installation allows for low center of gravity, balanced axle load distribution, and better driving dynamics.

What was also understood from Audi is that the length of the e-tron quattro concept is positioned between the Q5 and Q7 models and it is based on the second-generation modular longitudinal platform.

At last, we should also say that the Audi R8 e-tron sports car served as an inspiration for this concept. In fact, the drive system in the SUV is the same as in the sports car. There are exactly three electric motors used in both vehicles: one on the front axle and two on the rear axle, and they are driving the concept.

Oh, and what is even better is that the sporty SUV with top aerodynamics and all-electric drive is scheduled for a series production in 2018.

SUV Vehicles Continue to Be the Focus for Audi

Audi proudly posted an 8.3-percent sales increase in the US for June, which marks brand’s 54th consecutive monthly sales records. And there is even one more remarkable fact: Audi SUV sales rose with 24.1 per cent over a year ago. This tendency reflects Audi’s popularity and now the brand is ready to offer some even better technologies and vehicles.

Furthermore, each SUV in US lineup saw gains in June and during the first half of the year. Throughout June, sales of the Audi Q7 rose with one percent, compared to a year earlier. All this with with 14.1% month-on-month surge in June. In fact, the latest Q7 vehicle is set to go on sale early in 2016 and is expected to be even more popular that its predecessors. Other models also have increased their sales. For example Q5 went with 8.6 higher, while Q3 has already sold more than 6,200 units in the US market.

Furthermore, Audi plans to create a Q1 subcompact crossover vehicle, starting next year, but for now it is not expected to be offered in US. There will be also an electric-powered sporty SUV, expected for 2018 and a special Q8 SUV in 2019. Definitely Audi team is working hard to satisfy its customers.

Audi’s plans for increased numbers of SUVs continues to hit right in the target of rising demand for the vehicle type and especially among the premium customers.

At the end, we can say, that this is what you get, when you work with passion and desire. Definitely Audi vehicles are one of the best in the respective classes. But this doesn’t stop the brand’s team to continue to improve the vehicles, create new, incorporate ideas and make people satisfied with their choice of vehicle. And while we wait for the 2018 and 2019 offerings, we will continue to enjoy some sweet already in market Audi cars.

Audi A8 Edition 21 Comes With Style And Exclusivity

Audi A8 was released two decades ago and now Audi brand celebrates the successful and well-known saloon model with a special vehicle, named Edition 21. Taking everything nice from all the lineup features and adding some interesting solutions, Audi A8 Edition 21 will be available as a standard lineup and a special Limited series with only 121 units. In fact, the Audi A8 Edition21 can already be purchased.

The vehicle will offer bold interior and exterior styling, but will also keep some of the classic A8 features alive. For example, Edition 21 offers the standard wheelbase for all A8 models, but comes with restyled front and rear bumpers as well redesigned side sills. The Edition 12 will also offer Adaptive Audi Matrix LED headlights and special LED rear lights with dynamic indicators.

Furthermore, new to this models are the 20-inch double spoke alloy wheels and the extended list of exterior color options. In fact, the vehicle can now be painted with grey pearl effects shade. Privacy glass from the B-pillar is also included in the standard equipment.

Exterior and Interior

When it comes to interior styling, Audi A8 Edition 21 offers some refined atmosphere with its special design and extensive pack variations. The standard trim comes with two optional color schemes: Cognac Brown with black contrasting stitching and Black Leather with red contrasting stitching. Furthermore, the vehicle is geared with special sporty seats, that can be fine-adjusted with the special system, that offers 22-way of tweaking the seats. How cool is that? Edition 21 will also come with a special black cloth three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, illuminated door sill plates and numerous more goodies.

And as a self-respected brand, Audi also incorporated numerous gadgets and high-tech system, so Edition 21 meets the requirements of people from 21st century. The car offers HDD-based satellite navigation, BOSE surround audio system and of course Audi Connect portfolio of smart phone and internet-based services. And some of the models include reversing camera and power-operated boot lid with hands-free opening and powered door closure. Sweet.

Drivetrain System

Audi A8 Edition 21 is geared with EU-6-compliant 3.0-liter V6 TDI unit, that produces a total of 263 hp (193 kW) and 580Nm of torque between 1,750 and 2, 500 rpm. All this paired to an 8-speed triptronic transmission, linked to quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Edition 21 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) for 6.2 seconds and chases the top speed of 279 km/h (155 mph).

ABT Sportsline Gives More Power to Audi S3 Limo

Audi is a brand which has climbed to the top of its quality. Manufacturers envision it as the ultimate truth in engineering. Tuners see it as a venue for experiments which happen to be successful almost every time. Marque-lovers accept it as the king of kings in the automotive world. Of course, there are many who are ready to disagree with this but we have to admit that the Bavarian auto-giant knows how to satisfy its customers.

Let’s jump to the main point. Audi S3 limo is truly a remarkable car. It demonstrates excellent performance and great driving dynamics. And now ABT Sportsline has decided to push the capabilities of the S3 even further thanks to their ABT Power New Generation control unit. Thanks to the upgrades, the car now impresses with 370 HP (272 kW) and a maximum torque of 460 Nm, When we take into consideration the fact that it has jumped from 380 Nm to the current figures, the difference is quite huge. And still, if these rates do not seem high enough, ABT Sportsline offers a more powerful ABT Power S package which will give you no less than 400 HP (294 kW) and 480 Nm.

The 33% upgrade is the result of the software as well as the ABT exhaust system. The latter is comprised of pre-pipe and sport-type catalytic converter. Audi Sport TT Cup Will Come With a Touch of Winter

Audi Sport TT Cup is held in Summer’s hottest month, but this didn’t scare the winter champions to give it a try

Audi Sport TT Cup and especially its third race weekend will come with fresh winter touch. No, the event will not take place at some special mountain place. The ski superstars Felix Neureuthor (D), Marcel Hirscher (A) and Aksel Lund Svindal (N) will be on the grid at Spielberg, Austria on August 1 and 2. So, who are the winter champions and is the ski challenge the only one in their sport life. Let’s check out.

As you may know, Hirscher is currently the world’s best ski racer. For the last four years the Australian won the overall World Cup and numerous victories in the giant slalom and other slalom events. But the young champion, who is only 26 years old is also a big fan of the motor race world. He even contested a regularity race at the Red Bull Ring with Audi RS 5. At this event Hirscher had to chase a time, set in advance.

On the other hand, Neureuther has impatiently awaited the del with Hirsher for a long time now. Since the beginning of 2015, the son of ski legends Rosi Mittermaier and Christian Neureuther decided to try out some motorsport experiences. As you know, during the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Kitzbühel the 31-year-old-champion sat behind the wheel of DTM star Mattias Ekström’s Audi S1 EKS RX quattro and proved his racing abilities in a nicely done practice session.

And the last of the trio, Svindal is the high-speed ski racer specialist. The 32-year-old Norwegian super star is a downhill master and throughout his 14 years in the world of ski sports, he won several times downhill challenges, twice the downhill World Cup and in 2010 became an Olympic gold medalist in the super G event. Long story short, he is not afraid of high speed. Regardless if he is on the ski track or behind the wheel of some mighty sporty vehicle.

There also will be other guest drivers at the Audi Sport TT Cup, including Rahel Frey (CH) and Doreen Seidel (D). The former Audi DTM driver Rahel Frey contests the ADAC GT Masters and the Audi R8 LMS ultra in the Audi R8 LMS Cup in 2015. The other driver, Doreen Seidel, Playmate of 2008 has already finished on the podium of the guest entrants twice in the Audi Sport TT Cup, held in Nuremberg Norisring.

ABT Audi Q7 Exclusive in its Tiniest Details

ABT Audi Q7 Front View ABT Audi Q7 is coming hot from the tuner, since we have just received an e-mail with the news. So you will probably be among the first to read what it is about, and see it first in our picture gallery. The experts have also told us that although this is only an extensive visual package, they are currently developing a software engine uprating for the Q7.

Basically, ABT Audi Q7 is a four-wheel-drive machine that is capable of conquering literally any terrain. It features so much as standard that it is almost impossible to grasp how anyone can make it better. Take as an instance the virtual cockpit. But when it comes to exterior styling, maybe the specialists at ABT have something to contribute with.

As a result, they have created a “hardware’ exterior pack for the Audi Q7, making it more attractive, muscular and sportier.

Tuning Details

If you wonder what specifically ABT Sportsline has done here, well, they have added several new elements. The front received new skirt, while at the rear we prominently see a new ABT rear wing. The tail also got rear skirt set with a muffler system. Door strip attachments and fender inserts are also part of the package.

Although the SUV is one of the biggest in its segment, people are always hungry for more, when it comes to personalization. For this reason, the team at ABT Sportsline has cleverly developed a wide-body kit. The result? The ABT Audi Q7 looks more like a giant on the motorway, than anything else. In details, this effect is achieved via ABT rear and front fender extensions.

Wheels & Tires

Such huge car must run on huge wheels, and there is no second thought on that, right? For this reason the tuner has developed an in-house made set of alloys with dynamic FR design measuring the impressive 22-inces. They have been then fitted with 305/30 R22 tires at all four corners.

Engine Uprating?

At the current moment there is nothing more to review here. This means that the engine powering the ABT Audi Q7 has kept its standard output. This makes us a little bit sad, because such a huge and masterful vehicle, especially equipped with the wide-body kit, must be more have more powerful nature (meaning the driving force). MTM Audi A1 Nardo Edition is Inspired by Group B Rallying

MTM Audi A1 Nardo Edition not only looks phenomenal, but also has exhilarating performance. For the creation of the car, the German tuner took inspiration by the Group B rallying. This Audi is actually based on the S1 equipped with the 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine. Of course, the powertrain was heavily modified and now pumps out a lot of horses.

However, it is good to make a comparison, therefore we should tell you that this engine is capable of producing as a standard 231 hp (170 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of optimum torque.

Performance Upgrades

So, to into details, this A1 Nardo Edition (based on S1) has been modified according to Group B regulations. At the moment, the heavily uprated engine boasts 427 hp (314 kW), but the aim of the tuner is to achieve 450 hp (331 kW).

Furthermore, the car stood out during tests conducted at the Nardo facility in Italy. This is where it has reached the 324 km/h (201 mph). For those who need to experience more during driving, the tuner has prepared a race-derived sequential gearbox.

Styling

The exterior of MTM Audi A1 Nardo Edition has been specifically adorned with a styling package created by designer Roland Hall from South Carolina. It is actually his goal to see the Audi Nardo achieving 450 horsepower as a final version.
