  • Opel ADAM Gets new Swing Top Roof and Greater Efficiency

The new “mini” in Opel’s range, called ADAM, now gets even more individual than before. The company has added new technologies and features that have extended the ADAM family. For instance, there is this Swing Top canvas roof that now comes as a standard in the “Swingtop” trim. The customers will also enjoy the optional Glam Extreme Package ‘Hashtag’ and the Easytronic 3.0. The latter is the newest automated transmission developed by Opel.

Pure open-air pleasure can now be achieved thanks to the new Swing top. This trim level of the model will be based on the ADAM JAM configuration. The roof retracts to the C-pillar at the touch of a button for only five seconds and it can be closed up to speeds of 140 km/h.

The materials used include a central neoprene layer, which make the Swing Top robust and durable. And don’t worry about the noise. The entire roof module is acoustically tuned for good insulation inside the cabin.

Next, the newly developed Easytronic 3.0 completes ADAM’s transmission range. This automated gearbox benefits from enhanced efficiency and shortened response times. When Easytronic is combined with the 87 hp (64 kW) 1.4-liter naturally aspirated engine, it reduces fuel consumption by up to 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers for the combined cycle (when compared to a five-speed manual).

The CO2 reduction is equivalent to 10 grams per kilometer. In other words ADAM 1.4 ecoFLEX with Start/Stop needs only 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers and emits just 109 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

At last, Opel has also extended the color palette for the bodywork colors with ‘Forget about Grey’ and ‘Greenfellas’ shades. This means that customers can choose from a total of 19 different bodywork colors.

Opel ADAM Swingtop has a starting price of 14,990 euro.

  • Vauxhall ADAM Debuts in Birmingham

Early in October Vauxhall revealed the production model of its Adam S at the Paris Motor Show. Now the range-topping vehicle will debut at Autosport International 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham. Enthusiasts can attend the event in January from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th.

ADAM Grand Slam is powered by a refined version of the 1.4-litre Turbo ECOTEC powerplant which develops 150 PS and 220 Nm of maximum torque. Moreover, the car hits 60 mph from a stop in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph.

Interiorly, the Grand Slam conveys sleekness and plainness which could be said to really suit its overall nature. Nevertheless, if we compare it to a standard ADAM model, we can see that this one in particular demonstrates slightly more masculinity and, let’s say, maturity too thanks to the front lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumper cut-out with bold exhaust tailpipe. There is a choice of ten different body paint options, as well as four roof combinations available with the exclusive Red ʼn‘ Roll roof design. The bodylook is further underlined by the ADAM logo on the C pillars in combination with the exceptional rear spoiler above the rear window.

Customers benefit from four different seat arrangements for the driver and passengers, thus, including the Recaro Performance seats in Morrocana or nappa leather.

Orders will start for the Vauxhall ADAM Grand Slam in January 2015.

  • 2015 Opel ADAM S Goes On Sale in Europe

2015-Opel-ADAM-S-THUMB2015 Opel ADAM family is ready to go on sale from early next year, being available at dealerships and for purchase. ADAM S sits at the top of the family, offering great performance, easy handling, precise steering and the exceptional brakes. There are also numerous individualization possibilities for bodywork, roof and interior that highlight the sporty characteristics of the car. The heart of the ADAM S is the 1.4-liter Turbo engine.

It produces 150 horsepower (110kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque between 2,750 und 4,500 rpm. The engine is coupled with a crisp six-speed transmission with sporty gear ratios. It is then effortless for this Opel model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 8.5 seconds.

The new engine uses only 5.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. The dual cam phasing allows for continuously variable valve timing. In addition, the turbocharger integrated within the exhaust manifold reduces weight and delivers compact packaging.

Other weight-saving features include a cast iron block with a hollow frame structure, hollow-cast camshafts and a plastic intake manifold. Performance tuned chassis is the next key characteristic off the model.

The steering performance is so sharp that it enhances driving characteristics dramatically. Furthermore, tailored performance brakes deliver outstanding braking characteristics and a defined pressure point. For the optional 18-inch “Typhoon” alloys there are red brake calipers prepared.

The front lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumperare key elements for the differentiation of the model from others in the family. The chrome-plated tail pipe completes the sporty look. Sport pedals and optional Recaro sport seats are what rounds-out the individual take on the car.

  • Chivas Brothers Company Teams up with Vauxhall Again

Scotch Whisky and premium gin company, Chivas Brothers, has decided once again to turn to Vauxhall in order to increase its fleet, ordering 15 Combo Crew vans. In relation to this, Tristan Campbell, Fleet Advisor at Chivas Brothers comments that; “We chose Vauxhall again having used the previous version of the Combo. We have a long- standing relationship and we knew that this vehicle was perfect for the task and are really impressed by the enhanced levels of comfort the new vehicle offers to both driver and passenger.”

The 15 Vauxhall Combo Crew vans will be used by Chivas Brothers’ company as site vehicles. Moreover, they will stay on the fleet for the next five years and will be travelling between one warehouse to another to load and unload casks. This will happen at the beginning and at the end of the whiskey maturation process. There will be approximately 2,000 miles covered every year.

The vans are powered by 1.3 CDTi 16v engine which delivers 90hp (67 kW) and 57.6mpg on the combined cycle. The vehicles are supplied with ecoFLEX and Start/Stop technology that helps them lower the overall average emissions of Chivas’ fleet, thus, emitting just 129g/km CO2. Thanks to the excellent payload of 730kg, the Combo Crew van in L2H1 specification receives an advantage from 60/40 split rear seats, which is able to fold individually or as a pair. As a result, this gives the warehousing teams an opportunity to increase the load length from 1341mm to 1750mm.

  • Vauxhall ADAM S with Premiere in Paris

Vauxhall-ADAM-S-THUMBVauxhall revealed that it will premiere the top-of-the-range ADAM S model next month at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The car was previewed in March at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, where it showed its slick design, its potent 150 hp 1.4-litre turbo engine, its specially-tuned chassis and its VXR braking system. ADAM S visually appears more muscular than the standard ADAM, due to its front lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumper cut-out with a visible, bold exhaust tailpipe.

The company will offer to its customers ten body paint choices and four roof combinations, which are available with the Red ʼn‘ Roll roof design reserved exclusively for ADAM S customers. The distinctive rear spoiler above the rear window and the special ADAM S logo on the C pillars round out the specific look.

The interior of this car offers the driver and front passenger the opportunity to choose between four different seat arrangements, three of which are exclusively available for this ADAM variant, including the Recaro Performance seats in Morrocana or nappa leather. The interior reflects the Red ʼn‘ Roll design in many ways. An instance is the optional leather package which features black and red steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake in leather or the red and white lighting for the instrument panels and doors.

ADAM S also features as a standard a tinted LED daytime running and rear tail lights, electronic climate control and sophisticated IntelliLink system. The system provides USB and Bluetooth connectivity, audio streaming, seven speakers, 7-inch high-definition colour touch-screen, navigation by the BringGo app, Stitcher and TuneIn apps.

The new version of the 1.4-litre Turbo ECOTEC engine which powers the car produces up to 150 hp (110 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. Combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, this powertrain propels the ADAM S from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 8.5 seconds and to a top speed of 124 mph.

In addition, ADAM S’s unit is fitted with Start/Stop technology and the engine already meets Euro 6 emission standards. The dual cam phasing for continuously variable valve timing and a turbocharger integrated within the exhaust manifold are characteristics of the engine which make it lighter and more compact. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 44.1 mpg while the CO2 emissions – at 149g/km.

This Vauxhall also has some sporty credentials thanks to its specially tuned performance chassis and direct, sharp performance steering. ADAM S also features large VXR S brakes, custom-made for the various wheel sizes, and runs on a standard 17-inch or optional 18-inch alloy wheels.

  • Opel Introduces Karl

Opel Karl is the next addition to the family of the new generation Corsa and the stylish, three-door ADAM. The small car will be offered from the summer of next year. As a matter of fact, we have seen the debut of the five-door Karl a few days ago, but standing under different name – Vauxhall Viva. Opel has chosen to dub the vehicle “Karl”, because this is a short, snappy and catchy name that represents brand values: German, emotional and approachable. With the introduction of this model, Opel aims to fulfil all kinds of requirements.

Karl, ADAM and the latest Corsa will all be launched in less than 30 months as of next year. This means that the company will have the strongest portfolio in the mini and small cars segments in its history, and one of the youngest on the market place.

But to go into details, the Corsa is about 4.00 meters in length, which offers great comfort and great balance between exterior size and interior space. It is in five- and three-door versions. The ADAM on the other hand is just 3.70 meters long, has three doors, and is Opel’s individualization champion. This model offers dynamic driving, excellent connectivity and the widest personalization choice to those who want their car to express their lifestyle.

The Karl is even smaller than the ADMA in length! It comes in a compact package of 3.68 meters, but keeps its five door body. Inside, there are up to five seats. In addition, the car offers the best of Opel virtues in a smart and highly practical manner.

Another interesting fact is that the name Karl’s pays homage to one of Adam Opel’s sons. He was the person who had founded the company in 1862. Adam made Opel one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world. His sons Carl, Wilhelm and Friedrich entered the automobile business in 1898 and built their first car one year later.

  • Vauxhall to Introduce New Model Called Viva Next Summer

Vauxhall-Viva-THUMBVauxhall Viva is a future five-door entry-level model, which the company is set to introduce to us the summer next year. The vehicle will be part of Vauxhall’s small car range and this means that it will be accompanying the popular and fashionable A-sector icons: the ADAM and the Corsa supermini. In addition, the company is also promising to offer Viva at extremely attractive price tag.

What Vauxhall has revealed so far is that the future Viva will have a five-door body style and will accommodate up to five or four occupants, meaning that it will come with either four or five seats. The car will hold great appeal in this rapidly growing sector, thanks to its great specifications and range of trims and equipment levels.

Vauxhall is also hoping that the bold and radical name “Viva” of the car will attract attention and engender curiosity. Precisely, Viva is an acclamation or salutation that comes from Latin. It still has ameaning in neo-Latin languages such as Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, and means “Long live… !” or more literally “Live!”.

Furthermore, the name of the five-door model also pays tribute to Vauxhall’s original Viva, which was produced between the years 1963 and 1979 in over 1.5 million examples. The car will feature a design adequate for the contemporary everyday life and will share the original’s clean lines, durability and practicality.

Unlike Vauxhall, Opel will introduce the car in different name, which will be announced tomorrow, and we are also hoping to get more details.

  • The All new Vauxhall ADAM

    Vauxhall-Adam-651

The new Vauxhall ADAM is like no other car. With a style to compete with MINI and A1, ADAM hits the market astonishing speed. Over the past few years the car has become highly competitive. Although it’s not the ideal compact, affordable and cheap to run, the ride scores A+ about its options for personalisation as well as 30,000 different style combinations and in-car tech.

With its own personal style the car has two ways to go on the styling front.  It either tries to look modern or retro. However the ADAM is taking the modern approach. Like other members of the ADAM family, ROCKS AIR seems to be taller, wider and tougher in appearance. The buyers are given the opportunity to put their own personal touch in the car being able to choose between bright colors and option of painting the roof in a different shade.

As far as for the interior, Vauxhall manages to offer a decent level of spec, comfortable seats and other trim elements – all unique to ROCKS, as well as cup holders, glove box and many more. Prices are reasonable as well, for instance the infotainment screen right next to the leather steering wheel, which is a must, comes with a price of £275.

As for getting comfortable, there are plenty of adjustments in the seats Being the ideal city car, with its really light steering you are able to handle traffic jams a lot easier. The recently launched 1.0-litres three-cylinder turbo petrol engine provides a more fitting driving experience, its 113 bhp and 170 Nm of torque will see you hit 0-62 mph in 9.9 seconds and on to a 121 mph top speed.

This inevitably brings me to the part where I have to talk about the car’s downsides. By taking you out of the city you will find the ride a bit firm. The car is a bit bouncy on bumpy road surfaces. The engine itself does not have much power accompanied by very little feedback on how the front wheels are behaving. Fuel economy is not exactly mind blowing. The trunk lacks a lot of space; it’s not exactly fitted for a family holiday. The backseats provide very little space as well. I would not necessarily call them spacious.

Overall a great car for those under 35 and pre-family, although the car really fits in the position of a second family car. Suited for city life this car is best not taken out in the country side, you would enjoy one sweet ride.

  • Vauxhall Announces More Details on 2015 Corsa

Vauxhall-Corsa-THUMB2015 Vauxhall Corsa was unveiled more than a month ago but only in pictures and scarce details. Now the company is releasing the more technical details of the fourth-generation of its famous model. Vauxhall’s new Corsa will make a world premiere at next month’s 2014 Paris Motor Show. The event will take place in the beautiful French capital between 4th and 19th of October.

One of the highlights of the vehicle’s engine line-up will be the new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo petrol engine.

The unit meets the latest Euro 6 emissions regulations. It will be available with either 90 hp (66 kW) or 115 hp (85 kW) outputs, each of which achieves 170 Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque from just 1,800 rpm. These numbers are particularly evident during acceleration.

The Corsa equipped with the engine delivering 115 hp, makes possible the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.4 seconds. Furthermore, the new ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo is fitted with Start/Stop technology as a standard. This contributes towards excellent economy. The 90 hp three-door version has a fuel efficiency of just 54.7 mpg on the combined cycle.

Vauxhall is also offering Euro 6 compliant 1.2 and 1.4-litre naturally-aspirated engines with 70 hp (52 kW) and 90 hp (66 kW). There are also the available the more refined Euro 6 compliant 1.3 CDTi engines with 75 hp (55 kW) and 95 hp (70 kW).

In addition, turbo chargers will deliver smooth driving and acceleration at low engine speeds with minimal noise generation. Both diesel engines come with fuel-saving Start/Stop technology fitted as standard. At launch they will be mated to five-speed manual transmission and will also include braking energy recuperation system. The latter reduces CO2 emissions down to 85g/km and achieves fuel consumption of 87.8mpg on the combined cycle.

The pricing of 2015 Vauxhall Corsa will be announced on 2nd October. The first models of the car will go into production later this year.

  • Opel Shows Mokka Moscow Edition

Opel-Mokka-Moscow-Edition-THUMBOpel Mokka Moscow Edition is a very fresh addition to company’s Russian line-up, which was shown for the first time at the Moscow International Motor Show. Next to it, Opel presented there two other vehicles with strong emotional appeal, which are scheduled to go on sale in early 2015. The first one is the new Opel ADAM, which makes Russian premiere next to its wild sibling ADAM ROCKS. The models will be available in Moscow from January next year.

The next vehicle which made a premiere is the most powerful Opel – the all-wheel drive Insignia OPC. It is powered by the 2.8 V6 Turbo engine, which delivers 325 hp (239 kW) and a meaty 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) maximum torque.

Opel Mokka Moscow Edition is the star of the show, because it shows exciting design concept specifically created for Russia. The sub-compact SUV is designed in such way that it actually pays homage to Moscow.

The car carries a customized graphic inspired by the Moscow city map. For instance, such are the ‘o’ in the stylized Mokka name, on the hood, roof, rear and inside, represents the city center, its inner circle. The stylish interior perfectly adds to the headliner in finest Alcantara adorned with the leading motif.

Mokka’s cladding on the nose, front and wheel-arches includes dark-blue tone. It contrasts with the dominant orange body color and gives the Opel strong off-road appeal.

The next news around the Mokka is that in early 2015 Dakar rally will be launched. The Hungarian Opel-Team Balázs Szalay/László Bunkoczi will be again preparing a very special Mokka to take part in the legendary competition.

The Mokka ‘Dakar’ is equipped with 25 cm suspension travel, huge 520-liter safety fuel tank and body components made from carbon fiber. It is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. The unit pumps out 340 hp (250 kW) and torque of 660 Nm (487 lb-ft). The car can be currently seen at the show.
