  • 2015 Audi TT Gets A-Grade Evaluation

2015 Audi TT has received A-grade evaluation. The new model benefits from emissions reduction of 11 per cent compared with its predecessor, while the increase of power is also substantial, namely – up to 14 per cent. In this way, Audi has made significant step in minimizing the whole-life impact on the environment. The increase in power output and the simultaneous decrease in greenhouse gas emissions contribute towards new life cycle assessment.

Basically, each car of the third-generation TT saves around 5.5 tonnes of greenhouse gases over its entire life cycle. And we are not speaking only of carbon dioxide, but also of other substances such as methane, nitrous oxide and halogenated organic emissions.

Many technologies have contributed for this positive change. This first one is the lightweight construction of the car. Thanks to specific combination of materials, Audi engineers have, for the second time in a row, succeeded in reducing the TT’s weight.

Back in 2006, the engineers managed to achieve up to 90 kilograms weight savings. Now, the front-wheel driven 2.0 TFSI Audi TT, weighs just 1,230 kilograms and this means that the car is around 50 kilograms lighter than its predecessor.

The intelligent lightweight construction and the weight reduction of the 2015 TT also have an impact on the vehicle manufacturing process. Precisely, the saved greenhouse gas emissions in this step are around nine per cent. Audi also states that the new generation car offers a better life cycle assessment right from the very first mile.

  • Audi Teases TT-Based Crossover Concept Ahead Of Beijing Debut

Audi-TT-Based-Crossover-Concept-THUMBAudi TT-Based Crossover Concept is going to be the main star of the auto show in Beijing, where it will have its full reveal. The brand has just released three teaser sketches, which you can view below. The name of the model wasn’t revealed, but from what we can see from the pictures – it looks like the bigger sibling of the 2015 Audi TT.

It is visible that the new concept incorporates sleek styling and proportions. In these particular sketches, it is finished in provocative yellow color. And since lately this paint finish has become extremely popular, we are almost sure that it will debut dressed in it.

In fact, the car looks very much like Audi’s Allroad Shooting Brake, and if it is an evolution of it, we are also expecting that it will be powered by the same engine and deliver the same figures. Precisely, the Allroad Shooting Brake has a powerful 2.0-liter TFSI engine that 400 hp (294 kW) and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. It helps the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph.

As we can see from the third image, the car inside is a typical four-seater. What is interesting however is that it has the same dashboard with the new TT. More news to be released after concept’s official debut at the Beijing Motor Show, which starts on 20th of April.

  • HPerformance Tunes Two Audi TT RS Models

HPerformance-Audi-TT-RS-THUMBNot one but two Audi TT RS models were tuned by the German specialists at HPerformance. The main goal was to make them more individual than ever with the help of crafted rough materials as stainless steel, aluminum and carbon.

Both vehicles make the perfect contrast to each other – one has a glossy white paint finish and the other comes in mat black. They were equipped with company’s exhaust system, which is type „sound at will”. Precisely, the turbocharger here has 80-mm pipe beginning from on one side, and on the other with two 76-mm pipes.

Then, the cars were equipped with HJS racing cats and valve commands that are adjustable via key switches or remote control. The intercooler was made of aluminum and the upgrade turbocharger HPXT-510 sports Hperformance suction system „street“ with 80 mm suction pipe. The latter optimizes the intake manifold and RAM air charging behind the front.

In terms of power, both Audis make a big impression. Their force has been enhanced via a special ignition plugs and software adaptation, which eventually results in 500 hp (368 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque.

What is the difference except for the exterior color? Well, the white TT RS got Hperformance clutch upgrade with single mass flywheel, reinforced pressing plate and sintered metal friction washer. On the other hand, its mat black sibling received a step 3 DSG adaptation.

At last, both TTs has been equipped with Bilstein B16 coilovers, H&R stabilizers, all around installed ceramic braking systems and steel flex braking pipes.

  • Audi TT Quattro Sport Concept – 420HP and 450Nm

Audi is currently presenting the spectacular and very powerful TT Quattro Sport Concept coming with uprated 2.0 liter TFSI engine and impressive exterior.

The engine delivers 420HP (309 kW) at 6,700RPM and 450Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque at 2,400RPM. 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. Its weight is just 150 kg and produces 210HP / liter specific power, which is more than the 2001 Le Mans-winner Audi R18. The power is put on the road through an S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive system. The curb weight of Audi TT Quattro Sport Concept is just 1,344 kg (2,963 lbs), which explains its epic performance.

The exterior boasts some new interesting details like a diamond-pattern front grille flanked by matrix LED headlights and massive air intakes providing engine cooling. Other features include a CFRP splitter along with extended wheel arches and a diffuser also manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. There are also new 20” alloy wheels fitted with performance tires. Last, but not least is the big rear wing increasing the downforce.

The interior matches to the exterior. There are no speakers or armrest, while in the cargo area there is space for two racing helmets. There are also two bucket seats with black four-point seatbelts along with a 12.3” TFT fully digital display.

For now, the TT Quattro Sport remains only a concept car, but it will be great, if Audi decides to start series production.

  • 2015 Audi TT To Take Shape In Geneva

2015-Audi-TT-THUMB2015 Audi TT has just been teased with four sketches, which give a very good idea of what the car will look like. At next month’s Geneva Motor Show the new TT will have its official premiere, but until then we will probably stay with those pics and some information shared by the brand.

For the third generation of the iconic TT, the designers have reinterpreted many ideas. For example, the front end of the car has dominant horizontals, broad and flat singleframe grille and V-pattern over the bonnet. The most striking change here however is the position of the four rings which now sits centrally on the hood.

The large air inlets have been divided by struts, and the same design approach can be seen on the headlights, which are structured with divider struts. Optionally, the TT can be equipped with LED or Matrix LED technology.

Furthermore, at the front a sill contour forms a powerful light edge, while the wide wheel arches constitute distinct geometrical entities. The bonnet join on the other hand continues over the door and extends to the rear. The C-pillars have new shape and lend the TT a powerful and sporty look.

At the rear one can also see horizontal lines, struts in the rear lights that pick up on the headlights’ motif, third brake light with a flat strip, and two large round exhaust tailpipes in the diffuser.

The interior of the 2015 TT has also been changed. The centre console and door trims have flowing shapes, while the dashboard resembles the wing of an aircraft. The round air vents received a turbine-like look and feature air conditioning controls. The MMI monitor is now replaced by the Audi virtual cockpit.

  • Audi TT With New Interior Design

Audi-TT-Interior-thUMBAudi has just revealed the future interior of its TT model which promises to be “puristic”, sporty and fully focused on the driver. The interior design is to be shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and is promised to be launched on the market in the course of the year.

To be more precise, Audi virtual cockpit is the focus of attention here. This includes fully digital instrument cluster which shows all the information directly in front of the driver, meaning that there is no need for a central MMI monitor.

This is a very convenient solution because it gave the designers the freedom to slim down the instrument panel architecture such that it visually conveys the Audi lightweight construction principle. In other words, the interior sports clear lines and offers innovative technologies, and has been redesigned entirely.

In addition, Audi’s virtual cockpit also features 12.3-inch TFT monitor. Drivers can switch between two display modes: classic view and infotainment mode. The first one brings on the foreground the speedometer and rev counter, while in the second mode, the virtual instruments are smaller which leaves space for functions such as the navigation map.

All elements of the Audi TT operating concept are focused on the driver. Another example for this is the TT’s multifunction steering wheel which includes a flat-bottomed rim, with aluminum-look clips framing its spokes. The buttons and controls are positioned on the spokes.

Thanks to the MMI on the other hand, all the main functions are just in few clicks away. It also allows the driver to scroll and zoom in lists and on maps. Other innovations throughout the new interior feature S sport seats with significantly curved side bolsters, integrated headrests and low seating position.

All in all, the new Audi TT’s cockpit will offer in the future clear and sharp lines, and it will perfectly express vehicle’s sporty nature. Everything in the interior shows Audi’s attention to quality: from the design of the gear knob and the precise functioning of the rotary pushbutton to the Audi virtual cockpit.

  • Audi TT Ultra Quattro Concept

Audi has finally understood that the power is not everything and the most important thing about creating a super car is the low weight. That’s why, the manufacturer created the all-new TT Ultra Quattro Concept, which will make its official debut at the 2013 Worthersee Auto Show.

The light-weight variant of TT S Quattro is only 1,111 kg (2,449 lbs), which is whopping 300 kg (661 lbs) less than the model is based on.

The power is coming from a well-known 2.0 liter TFSI engine with 310HP (228 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. This makes a power-to-weight ratio of 3.6 kg per HP. 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds (1.3 seconds faster and a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).

Some of the highlights include R8 GT-sourced bucket seats, CFRP rear-end, roof, center tunnel and B-pillars, along with magnesium floor and hinge reinforcements. There is also a rear wing from carbon fiber.

Among the extras, you will find air conditioning, electric window controls, an electromechanical parking brake as well as compact cameras in the doors. Their function is to substitute the exterior mirrors and transfer images into the digital cockpit.

  • Audi TT RS – Moments of Truth [HD video]

The new TT RS has a true racing pedigree just like the legendary 90 Quattro model. The German manufacturer claims that there is a connection between the 5-cylinder Quattro and the hot new TT RS.

Both cars put the power on the road through Quattro AWD and have 5-cylidner turbocharged engine. However, Audi 90 Quattro in its race version had around 600 horsepower, which is almost double than the 360HP in the 2.5-liter of the TT RS.

Also the rally car was just 1 090kg (2403 lbs) meaning a stunning power-to-weight ratio. The performance is incredible. 0 -100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and the top speed depended on the selection of gears. Some of the car had a special power-shift gearbox, which resembles the double-clutch technology.

The TT RS is also very fast to 100 km/h – only 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited.
