  • 2013 Toyota Corolla: A Cat’s Love Affair [VIDEO]

While I was browsing today in order to find some exciting news from the automotive world, I accidentally came across a video which was hilarious and at the same time very original. The main character here is a cute tom-cat, who has a love affair with the new 2013 Toyota Corolla.

However, this affair seems to be a bit wicked and the cat is that much attached to the Corolla that he wants to stay in it all the time. And in this case what a cat would do rather than some trick?

Yes, the little “guy” gets himself involved in series of accidents, so that he can get injured, and as a consequence his owner puts him in the Toyota and drives him to the animal hospital.

Being a true cat fan, I was a bit skeptic when I saw this video until I didn’t watch it to the very end. Although the cat did have only seven lives, it miraculously survives. And all you need to do is to watch the video to know how he does it.

All in all, a great new advertisement for Toyota and we are definitely eagerly looking forward to the release of the new Corolla which in turn is going to keep is excited in a great love affair with itself!

  • Toyota Auris Touring Sports Revealed in Paris

Toyota-Auris-Touring-Sports-THUMBToyota Auris Touring Sports made a world debut in Paris, adding an estate body style to the range for the first time. The model will be the first in the segment available with a full hybrid powertrain.

The new Toyota comes with a dynamic design which doesn’t compromise its load carrying ability. In addition it is also a mark of the latest stage in brand’s diversification of its full hybrid model line-up.

Auris Touring Sports improves the aerodynamic performance of the Auris Hatchback with a design that gives it a low height and low centre of gravity. Although it has the same 2600mm wheelbase as the hatchback, it is 285mm longer. This means that it has a bigger loadspace.

Furthermore, the model comes also with the same front-end design as the hatch, but in profile the steeply raked windscreen flows into an extended roofline including anodized aluminium rails and an integrated rear spoiler.

The side glazing of the vehicle extends across three panels and has a gloss black B-pillars. It is underscored by a chrome-accented trim above a rising belt line crease.

In addition, another modification can be seen on the bumper and tailgate, which now have a new design. They have a sill set 80mm lower than the hatchback. At last to be mentioned is that the height of the license plate is raised to maintain balanced proportions and the new wraparound rear combination lamps reinforce the shaped of the D-pillars and the rear screen.

In block, the brake system helps to adjust to an off-road surface and keep controlling the vehicle. EBD equals braking forces between the front and rear wheels, and the BA serves as an auxiliary in emergency braking. A-TRAC maintains traction and distributes the drive force while accelerating. VSC supplies directional control while cornering and operates engine torque and individual wheel-braking influence in case of tire slippage.

The Smart Stop Technology (SST) is the most prominent 2013 Land Cruiser’s feature concerning safety. It is capable to completely stop the vehicle at the speed over 5 mph and apply brakes firmly for a half second or longer.

The new details include a large, trapezoidal grille set within a redesigned bumper, and a smaller upper grille that spans the full width between new headlights, larger Toyota badge, set lower on the bonnet, and a chrome-finish horizontal bar that extends into the headlamp units, which incorporate new LED daytime running lights.

The car also runs on new 17-inch alloy wheels which have the same design seen before. However, they have now darker finish. At the rear there is a new bumper that incorporates an integrated low level diffuser.

More importantly, the car is propelled by a 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine, which was revised for better torque delivery at low revs and quieter running. In addition, it is important to mention that the CO2 emissions have been reduced by 10g/km to fall below 130g/km.

The other option is the 2.2-litre D-CAT diesel unit mated to either six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The former develops 175 hp (131kW) with 159g/km CO2 emissions and the latter 148 hp (110kW) and 178g/km CO2.

The 1.6 and 1.8-litre Valvematic petrol engines are the last two options in the engine range. Both are matched to a six-speed manual gearbox. At last, the driving dynamics of the car have been further revised to achieve even greater body control and more agile handling.
