  • Renault R.S.16 Formula One Car Shows-Off with New Livery and Rides the Waves in Australia [w/videos]

Renault R.S.16 Front View2016 FIA Formula One World Championship is one of the most watched and awaited events during the year and every single participant is preparing for it with extreme diligence and pays attention even to the tiniest details. The livery is a substantial part for every team and evokes excitement in viewers. On the pictures you see in this blog post as well as in the gallery below, you will find Renault Sport Formula One Team’s brand new definitive livery for the 2016 FIA F1.

The team has just revealed the new visual appearance of its race car, which carries the distinctive yellow-gold and black colors. This has happened at an event hosted in Docklands, Melbourne, where the R.S.16 bolide appeared as it literally surfed the waves at Boat Harbour Park beach just outside Sydney.

SEE ALSO: Infiniti and Renault Alliance is an Epic One. And Here Is Why!

If you aren’t familiar, this year the team drivers for this year are Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer. They have joined the Australian pro surfer Ellie-Jean Coffey in a shoot on Monday before the Australian Grand Prix. How everything happened: the showcar (for those concerned about whether it will dry out in time for Sunday’s race) was fixed to the 7.5m long board using bespoke harnesses. Afterwards it was towed out into the Pacific Ocean where it was released to catch its first-ever waves. It is also the first time an F1 car has ever surfed!

     Renault R.S.16 front view

The black and yellow Sirius colors look so natural on the Renault R.S.16 because they incorporate company’s (Renault Sport) colors and also remind of the first-ever Renault F1 car, the RS01. The RS01, which hit the track in 1977, was too painted in yellow and black. Furthermore, this time Renault also wanted to make a connection between the Sport Cars and the Sport Racing division, so it has used colors to showcase the matt white color available on the Clio R.S Trophy.

Furthermore, additional modern cues were further given to make the R.S.16 stand out. These include metallic colors, reflecting the lights at the night races, the ‘diamond’ pattern at the rear of the car and gold flashes, which show for what the teams aims.

  • Geneva Debuting Fourth Generation Renault Scenic Offers Glimpse of … Mediocrity

2017 Renault Scenic Front and Side ViewScenic is probably one of the best known models around the world and especially in Europe since it is largely associated with mediocre lifestyle. Since it was created back in 1996 the compact MPV soon became extremely famous and for exactly twenty years, Renault has managed to produce three generations of it. Note that it has been sold in nearly 5 million units already, and like it or not it is constantly being resold on the “second-hand” market.

Despite of the wish of many for the immediate death of the model, Renault “has been poised to introduce the new SCENIC”. And even more: it will premiere it officially at the Geneva Motor Show.

SEE ALSO: Renault Launches a Limited Run of the Successful Captur Model

The “fresh approach” on the traditional cues of the “redefined” MPV actually means that the design of SCENIC is nothing different from the Captur(e). And this is despite the words Renault says that the guiding principle behind the fourth-generation SCENIC was to provide a completely fresh take on the compact MPV. Well, maybe applying the same design is a fresh take-on… especially when compared to the disastrous previous generation.

    Renault Scenic Front view

Another “innovation”, this time taken from the Espace model, is the three-part windscreen that provides a panoramic view and enhanced visibility. I have to admit however, that compared with the third generation SCENIC, the latest one has significantly raised ground clearance and shortened rear overhangs. The car seems to be wider, both at the front and rear. Well, it is a matter of opinion whether these changes make it look more solid. Furthermore, the “distinctive” front of the new SCENIC comes with lighting signature in the form of C-shaped head lights that feature LED Pure Vision technology.

Renault did not aspire to disclose any other details, but I can say that they won’t be unexpectedly enthusiastic and even ecstatic. Maybe it is time for the French brand to step out from mediocrity, but by producing cars like the one featured it won’t happen any time soon.

The back of the model is fitted with a chromed exhaust tail pipe and a sculpted diffuser.

  • Infiniti and Renault Alliance is an Epic One. And Here Is Why!

Although Infiniti made a successful involvement in Formula One, the team definitely doesn’t want to stop here. For the 2016 season, the brand decided to be a technical partner to the recently-created Renault Sport Formula One team. And by all it appears like this will be a powerful alliance: imagine blended product of Infiniti’s energy resource and Renault’s drivetrain systems. Hopefully this will really be the beginning of something incredible in the world of Formula 1.

As we know, Infiniti has a reputation of hybrid manufacturer with impeccable systems and style, one more time proving it with the demonstration of the 3.5-liter hybrid power unit. Also, the Q70 sedan, the lucky vehicle, geared with that engine is rated to be the fastest accelerating hybrid vehicle so far. Incredible, right?

And meanwhile, Infiniti will be using the experience from the F1 ERS system for further improvements for its hybrid powertrains.

As you might know, Infiniti entered the Formula One world in 2011 as partner of Red Bull Racing team and was one of the main sponsors until 2013 season. And with the tons of gained experience, Infiniti now makes confident steps in technically supporting Renault Sports Formula One team.

It is obvious that Renault is taking a step further in the development of global strategy for minimizing the CO2. Whether this EV will be successful in the Chinese market, it is only a matter of economics and individual eco-mindfulness.
