  • 2014 Porsche Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive

4-Porsche-Panamera-4S-Executive-THUMBPorsche is expanding the Panamera range with two new Executive models. We are speaking here about the Porsche Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive models, which now come with an extended wheelbase by 5.9 inches. This means that they will deliver more comfort and in addition they will come with an extensive range of standard features.

An instance is the Adaptive air-suspension system, which includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The latter combines superior performance and enhanced ride comfort. Although the powerplant featured here is smaller – the new twin-turbo V6 engine, there is evident a significant increase in performance and efficiency.

In particular, in the new Panamera, the unit with twin turbochargers replaces the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 engine in the previous-generation Panamera S and Panamera 4S. The engine’s figures show increases of 20 hp and 15 lb-ft torque when compared to the outgoing V8 engine.

At first sight it is visible that the exterior design includes some significant changes. The models now come with tighter and more prominent lines up front, while at the same time there are also present larger air intakes and transition to the headlights.

One of the highlights here is the new trunk lid. Its laterally stretched glass accentuates the Porsche’s width thus contributing to a more aggressive stance. In addition, the rear body proportions were also changed. A larger automatically deploying spoiler and a tighter transition to the rear lights complement the treatment at the front of the vehicle.

Optionally, the customers of the 2014 Panamera, can choose to equip it with full-LED headlights, which will undoubtedly lend the new generation a striking appearance. 2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo S and Panamera Turbo S Executive variants will be available in 2014.

2014-Porsche-Panamera-S-E-Hybrid-THUMB2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is the first plug-in hybrid of the brand that has just been unveiled. The company is also introducing two new extended wheelbase variants – the Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive. The models will have their global debut at Auto China in Shanghai on 21st of April.

The new S models hide under their hood entirely new 3.0-liter V6 engine with twin turbochargers. The technologies in these models have been improved and now the cars deliver enhanced performance and fuel efficiency. 2014 Panamera exudes tighter lines, more pronounced contours and newly shaped body elements.

First, the new Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is built on the concept offered by the previous generation. However, it comes with a more powerful electric motor and a higher-performance battery.

To go further into details, the electric drive produces 95 hp (70 kW) and the electricity is stored in a newly developed lithium-ion battery. The latter can be fully charged within circa two and a half hours when connected to a 240V power source. The car utilizes the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

Here the driving performance is also enhanced in contrast to the fuel consumption which is reduced. Electric-only driving is possible without any fuel consumption or local emissions, for instance. The electric driving range of the Panamera S E-Hybrid is estimated to be more than 20 miles. In addition, the hybrid can reach up to 84 mph in all-electric operation.

Moreover, the acceleration time for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.2 seconds, while the Vmax here is 167 mph. • Official Debut: 2013 Porsche 911 RSR

2013-Porsche-911-RSR-THUMB2013 Porsche 911 RSR is brand’s new GT race car for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the Le Mans 24 Hours. The new 911 RSR race car will be competing in the WEC LM-GTE class, and it is characterized by significant lightweight design and exceptional aerodynamics.

What is more important here is that this exceptional model honors a very special anniversary: 50 years of the Porsche 911. The Porsche AG Team Manthey works squad will enter two Porsche 911 RSR race cars in the World Endurance Championship’s 2013 season including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Unfortunately, the model won’t compete in the North America series for 2013.

2013 911 RSR is based on the seventh generation of the iconic 911 sports car. However, here the wheelbase grew by about ten centimeters. In addition, there is a new wishbone front suspension that replaces the formerly utilized McPherson struts.

What is also new is the lightweight racing gearbox. Next, the six gears are selected via paddles on the steering wheel; and the 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivers 460 hp (338 kW). What is more important however is to highlight that the weight distribution here has been balanced more evenly.

Moreover, the center of gravity is also lower than that of its predecessor. Some high-quality materials, such as carbon fiber, have played a crucial role in the new Porsche model as well. On the other hand, the front and rear mudguards, front and rear lids, doors, underbody, wheel arches, rear wing, dashboard and center console are constructed from the very light and strong material.

Another innovation is that all windows are made of particularly thin and light polycarbonate. This of course results in enhanced weight. Adding to the same reduction is the lithium-ion battery known from the 911 GT3 road going models.

The visual appearance of the 911 RSR includes flared mudguards and the deep cooling air intakes at the front. The radiator is now centrally-located in the front and even more effective than in the previous model, thanks to the new air ducting.

To be perfect for endurance-racing, the quick-change concept of the body parts was specially adapted. The end result is easier maintenance and shorter repair times. The front end, front lid and rear panel are fitted with quick release systems and can be replaced within seconds.

The LSD (limited-slip differential) takes care about the traction, so 0-100 km/h is in 3.5 seconds and a top speed is 315 km/h (195 mph).

All other components, such as the crankshaft, valve gear and Porsche-designed titanium connecting rods and forged pistons, were adapted or designed for the GT3. • 1965 Porsche 911 Project 50 at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Porsche will introduced the a special 911 Project 50 to celebrate the series 50th anniversary at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

An original 1965 Porsche 911 was originally purchased by an Italian customer, who paid around £3,400 today’s money. The car is powered by a 2.0 liter flat-six with 130HP (97 kW). However, it is converted into a FIA-approved race car in the late 1990s.

The 1965 ‘short-wheelbase’ 911 will be racing under the ‘Project 50’ team banner in selected ‘Masters Series’ events alongside appearances at larger festivals such as the Nürburgring OldTimer and Silverstone Classic. The car will be run out of the UK headquarters in Reading, Berkshire, and maintained by the in-house Porsche Cars GB Motorsport team who also provide the technical support for the Carrera Cup GB Championship and GT3 Cup Challenge GB.

With a simple silhouette and minimal exterior graphics, the early 911 has a very distinct design purity which is a lasting legacy of the designer, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. This not only established the Stuttgart coupe as a style icon, but also set the template for future generations of the car. These early cars also set the motorsport reputation of the 911, not least with an outstanding debut success in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally with a first in class and fifth place overall result.

Since it was first launched, the 911 has been regarded as a rewarding car to drive quickly due to its rear-engine. To drive fast, a 1965 911 undoubtedly demands a particular level of commitment behind the wheel; this dynamic flair remains discriminating to this day. Systematic chassis refinements over the years have had the effect of lessening the influence of the legendary rear-biased weight distribution of the 911 yet the unique feel, character and driver involvement is undimmed. And the high dynamic limits of the chassis continue to demand respect.
