  • AMS Nissan GT-R Alpha Omega – Epic History Moments and Records

There is no doubt that Nissan GT-R is one of the best sports cars ever created. It is not only extremely fast in its factory version, but it discovers new horizons in terms of tuning and drag racing. TheRacingChannel has published a video on Youtube showing epic history moments from the creating of AMS Performance Nissan GT-R Alpha Omega to a lot of record breaks.

The tuning company has created the first 9-,8- and 7-second Nissan GT-R and holds some other records like 60-130 mph (96-209 km/h) in 2.67 seconds and 100-150 mph (160-240 km/h) in 2.42 seconds, which are practically unbeatable.

As a reminder, the GT-R Alpha Omega did ¼ mile in 7.984 seconds with a terminal speed of 299.33 km/h (186 mph). It also set 0-60 mph in spectacular 1.72 seconds.

Still, the tuned GT-R is completely street legal and can go in city almost unnoticed for pedestrians and police. The car doesn’t make scary noise, when its driven normally and goes smoothly even in bumper-to-bumper situations.

We just can’t describe the atmosphere that the video is offering so… Enjoy!

  • Nissan Note Range Gets Enhanced With DIG-S Model

Nissan-Note-DIG-S-THUMBThe next news from Nissan for the day is that it has just enhanced the Nissan Note range with the DIG-S trim level. The car will be powered by company’s supercharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, thus promising best in class efficiency and low running costs.

However, the unit sports low-friction, it is lightweight and highly efficient, and has a displacement of just 1,198cc. Despite the compact dimensions, the Direct Injection Gasoline – Supercharged generates 98 hp (72 kW) and 147 Nm (108 lb-ft) of torque for CO2 emission and fuel efficiency figures of 99g/km and 65.7mpg, respectively.

Furthermore, the DIG-S has Nissan’s Idle Stop/Start system that switches-off the engine when the car is stationary. The brand has made some improvements to the system that result in reduced noise and vibration during the restarting process.

The new powertrain can be matched with either a five-speed manual transmission or an optional XTronic one. XTronic is a low friction technology which makes the Note more efficient than ever.

What is more, in terms of exterior and structure enhancements, the DIG-S models benefit from 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, revised suspension including new springs, dampers and roll-bars, revised steering settings, changes to the VDC and ESP software.

As an option, the brand is also introducing a very special Style Pack. It adds two-tone diamond cut 16-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, carbon look rear bumper, neat rear roof spoiler, side sills, aggressive front bumper with a glossy black grille and topped by black bezel headlamps.

The interior here is adorned with a three spoke steering wheel, and features Nissan Safety Shield, which brings together a number of features that use cameras and sensors to monitor the area around the car at all times. These include Blind Spot Warning, Land Departure Warning, Moving Object Detection and Around View Monitor.

  • Switzer’s Beast: A 2000 HP Nissan GT-R

Switzer-Beast-Nissan-GT-R-shadowSwitzer-Beast-Nissan-GT-R-mediumEvery now and then tuning people just go bananas and take things beyond reasonable. Case in point: Switzer Performance’s 2000 hp Nissan GT-R. Yes, that much and it’s for a client of theirs. We won’t complain, though, as we haven’t heard from Switzer for quite some time.

They’ve called it the “Beast” (makes sense) and the only thing more impressive than the actual power coming out of it is the way it they’ve come around extracting the said power. Pop up the hood (or, judging by the video, just sneak a peak) and inspect the engine bay and you’ll find that it still has the factory 3.8-liter Nissan VR38 plant in it. Nobody has bothered with putting new pistons in it, increasing the size or changing the crankshaft. Instead, what Switzer have done is install their own ECU, tweak the fuel delivery and timing, and introduce two humongous turbochargers.

Watch the Beast strapped on a dyno, however, and you realize that quite a bit of that power dissipates before actually reaching the wheels. Still, 1760 whp is not exactly the definition of feeble. And hey, it runs on ethanol too. Greenpeace would be delighted.

  • 2014 Nissan Qashqai – Technology Highlights [video]

In the new Qashqai, Safety Shield technologies include the following features:

    • Forward Emergency Braking

By scanning the road ahead using a built-in radar system, the Qashqai delivers three levels of assistance. First is an audible warning, alerting the driver if the gap to the car in front is closing. Secondly, if the driver does not react, the brakes are automatically partially applied. Finally if the gap is still closing, the brakes will be applied harder if necessary.

    • Driver Attention Alert

The new Qashqai gets to know you so that it can tell when you are getting drowsy. After learning your driving style, the system will monitor driving inputs, showing a dashboard alert if steering becomes erratic, indicating the driver should take a break.

    • Traffic Sign Recognition

Helping new Qashqai drivers to both stay safe and within the law, speed limit signs are automatically read by the front-facing camera and displayed to the driver. This function works across Europe, regardless of national sign typography. It even recognises that some countries enforce a weather dependent lower speed limit if it’s raining, so both dry and wet weather limits are displayed to the driver.

    • Lane Departure Warning

A great feature for multi-lane highways, Lane Departure Warning detects if the car is starting to drift out of lane. Advanced computer programming detects road markings allowing the Qashqai to determine if it is drifting out of position. If it does, and the driver has not operated the indicators, a warning is given to the driver to correct their road position.

    • Blind Spot Warning

Nissan’s system uses the rear view Around View Monitor camera to detect vehicles in the hidden blind spot areas on both sides of the Qashqai. If a vehicle is detected in either blind spot, a discreet warning light illuminates in the glass of the door mirror. If the driver indicates to change lanes and the system detects a vehicle in the danger area, the light flashes and an audible warning is given.
    Moving Object Detection

    • High Beam Assist

A high resolution camera combined with advanced software has led to a sophisticated automatic high and low headlight beam function for the new Qashqai. The system optimises the use of the headlamps in order to provide the maximum amount of light possible for any driving scenario.
Safety Shield is just the start of the Qashqai’s technology story.

    • Chassis Control

Using Nissan’s very latest ride and handling know-how, Chassis Control enhances both ride and handling, learning from the development of a vast variety of features from past Nissan and Infiniti models. While the Vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC) continues to correct severe traction loss, at lower speeds with lower forces the Active Trace Control applies specific braking force to each wheel to correct the course of the Qashqai when cornering, giving a more dynamic feel without interfering with the driving experience. What’s more, when driving over undulating surfaces, Active Ride Control applies subtle braking to individual wheels to deliver flatter body control enhancing comfort for all occupants.

  • Datsun Offers Glimpse At Forthcoming Concept Car

Datsun-Concept-Car-shadowDatsun-Concept-Car-mediumJust a quick reminder that Datsun is back. The Nissan-sourced brand will be hitting the markets from this year on in specific areas such India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. So what better way for the company to start gaining media attention than appearing on the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 which kicks off on the 5th of February and will last until the 11th

And here is a sketch of what you should find at the expo when the time comes. It’s a concept car that’s supposed to show the brand’s future design direction.

Frankly, we don’t know how to feel about it. It sort of looks like a sub-compact crossover, and we’ve never been fond of these. Then there’s the styling itself. There seems to be a bit of Ibiza in there, a Ford Fiesta as well; it just doesn’t feel that fresh. Then again, it’s supposed to be accessible and simple. Agree to disagree?

We’ll just have to wait and see the real thing…which won’t be the real thing because it’s a concept, but you know what we mean.

  • Nissan GT-R DT1200R – 1 mile in 22.484 seconds with 371 km/h

Once again Garage D proven that Nissan GT-R is one of the best sports cars in the world. This time the tuned GT-R DT1200R managed to set an impressive time at 1 mile as well as at ¼ mile drag race.

Nissan GT-R Mk.1 DT1200R has no less than 1200HP and it needs just 9.450 seconds to cross ¼ mile mark with epic 265 km/h. One mile is finished in 22.528 seconds with 371 km/h, which is pretty amazing.

In the video we can also see a second start versus Audi RS6, which the GT-R humiliates. During the second start, the DT1200R does ¼ mile in 9.360 seconds with 266 km/h and 1 mile in 22.484 seconds again with 371 km/h.

The DT1200R is completely street legal.
