  • Switzer Goliath Nissan GT-R

Switzer is one of the most appreciated tuning companies in the world. They have has been focused on cars that delivered blistering performance without sacrificing the comfort or reliability.

Switzer created a tuned Nissan GT-R capable of doing 9-second times at drag race or other, which as covered almost 100,000 miles since its conversion from a stock, 475 hp early GTR to an 800 hp Switzer P800.

The conversions are relatively cheap compared to the achieved performance. Still, a lot more can be done, so people ask themselves: “What if I want to push the limits? What if I don’t want to be conservative?”

The GT-R Goliath was built to explore the limits of Switzer’s package architecture, building off of the same hardware upgrades as the Ultimate Street Edition, as well as the same intercoolers, plumbing, and exhaust hardware used in the USE, as well as the P700, P800, and record-breaking R1K-X Switzer GTRs.

Keep in mind, this is not some chopped-up dyno-queen car. Grinding or welding on the chassis was not permitted, so Goliath’s firewall, frame rails, and power steering systems are totally intact.

The factory AC system is completely intact, and “is a must”, according to Switzer … which makes sense, considering how many of these cars end up in extreme climates.

“At the end of the day,” says Tym, “this is still a drivable streetcar, albeit at the limits of what most people would tolerate in real-world traffic. It’s an exercise in how far you can take a streetcar, which is what this customer wanted, even after I explained the risks and the process. The only ‘race stuff’ in the car is the fuel. In this case, it’s Q16. I’d have preferred something a little more ‘green’, like E85, but that would have been too hard for the car’s owner to source locally. So, only the fuel is ‘race’, really, but that doesn’t mean Goliath is for everyone. It’s not the no-excuses, Veyron-baiting, liter-bike chasing super car. That’s the Ultimate. Goliath … Goliath is just a monster. It’s the limit of how far we can push our GTR package hardware, so it shows the value in those packages as ‘building blocks’ to something bigger.”

So, the result: over 1500 WHP (wheel-horse-power), which is around 2000HP from the engine.

Last is the ECU re-map giving the mighty GT-R 550 to 570WHP (wheel-horsepower) on regular 93 octane fuel and up to 600WHP on special E85 gasoline. This is 735HP (540 kW) on the engine. The price for this performance kit is just $10,250. Not much considering the exceptional result.

  • Exclusive: Vilner Reveals a Starry Sky Nissan GT-R

Vilner-Nissan-GT-R-Starry-Sky-THUMBJust ahead of the winter holidays, the Bulgarian tuning company Vilner is making a big Christmas gift to the readers of automobilesreview.com by revealing exclusively and only for them their new and absolutely breath-taking work on Nissan GT-R.

Vilner Nissan GT-R is definitely a very unique project. And this is not only because of the exquisite work and craftsmanship of the professionals, but also because of the “starry sky” ceiling that it includes. Few other cars have the same feature, and as a matter of fact this is the fist car in the tuning history to include such one.

In general the materials used in the interior in this project are the finest leather and Alcantara in black and crimson colors. The seats are mainly in black but include red bands on their borders. Furthermore, another accent here that catches the eye is the red stitching which creates rhomboid forms.

The same motive is seen on the panel, steering wheel, doors and ceiling. And as soon as one looks up to the latter, they see a “starry sky”. This amazing effect was the initial client’s wish and was achieved with the mounting of LED’s.

Under substantial transformation underwent all of the plastic elements that could be found in this Nissan. Originally they were in different shades of gray, but after the modification they shine exquisitely thanks to the Black Piano Varnish applied on them.

If one is familiar with the work of Vilner, they must definitely know that the specialist from the tuning team pay a lot of attention to the details. Here they haven’t forgotten this philosophy and have even wrapped the rearview mirror in Alcantara. Next, the steering wheel was individually modified and now includes elements in Black Piano Varnish.

As it concerns the edges of the door panels and the center console, here one can see red bands which give the GT-R additional sport spirit and visual stance. According to client’s wish, there were also added an iPAD and a stand for it.

  • 2013 Nissan GT-R: Elevated Performance

2013-Nissan-GT-R-THUMBThe new 2013 Nissan GT-R now has enhanced response, better stability and sharper handling. The model will go on sale in the spring next year, showing-off its new four-wheel drive and great responsiveness.

In fact, this Nissan model has received a round of improvements, which complement perfectly the “beast” which seeps under its good: the 550 horsepower (405 kW) 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Here the lessons, that the brand have learned after this year’s Nürburgring 24-Hour, are applied by the engineers thus effecting in enhanced response in both the mid- and upper-rpm rev ranges.

Other changes include increased body rigidity and modifications to the dampers, springs and front anti-roll bar. As a consequence, the GT-R is now more responsive, has better high-speed stability and a more refined ride.

Details around this model are still scarce and the brand will reveal full prices and exact performance specifications closer to car’s launch. Nevertheless, some technical changes were disclosed.

The engine for instance has new high-output injectors, which more concisely control fuel injection in order to enhance mid-range and high-rpm response. Furthermore, new relief valve for the turbocharger bypass suppresses the rapid decrease of forced injection pressure, again helping to sustain response. Next, a brand new oil pan baffle helps maintain more stable oil pressure and reduces rotational friction especially during high-performance driving.

The chassis has been updated as well, after measuring the roll centre of the GT-R when cornering and taking deflection of the bushes and tyres into account. The updated suspension includes revised dampers, springs and front anti-roll bar to lower the centre of gravity.

Moreover, new cam bolts have been installed on the front suspension to enhance camber accuracy and stability when cornering. The torque has been increased as well thus carrying capacity of the driveshafts to the hub bearings and improving the reliability in high-stress situations.

At last but not least, some changes have been made to the body as well. Reinforcements have been added to the dash panel bar and instrument panel member effecting in extended body rigidity and better suspension control.

  • Vilner Nissan GT-R – The Power of the Dragon

Vilner-Nissan-GT-R-Red-Dragon-THUMBIt must be a great start of the new week, since the first news we have for you today is from the outstanding Bulgarian tuning company Vilner. I must admit that I have always been keen on the work of these specialists, but this time they have prepared for us something which has surpassed all expectations.

Vilner Nissan GT-R is the name of the project and it is exquisite and more than stylish. The beginning was when the customer contacted the professionals with the plea of non-standardized transformation of his Nissan.

Then, the studio stepped in and decided to manifest an idea which aligns elements of a dragon. After all it is the year of the dragon, the customer is Asian, the car is exotic and sporty – everything fit together perfectly and hence the project was immediately approved.

The next step was doing the hard work and starting the transformation. Vilner began working on the interior design, where the designer drew a dragon, which later was embroidered on the car’s roof, and in the trunk. By the way the latter was covered with Alcantara as well.

Just take a look at the pictures of the interior and you will see how marvelous this embroidering was done: the body of the dragon winds around the seats, and passes through the center console. Furthermore, this effect was further enhanced by the relief effects resulting from the combination of leather and embroidery.

As a matter of fact, every single element of the body of the dragin was hand-drawn personally by the designer on a pattern inside. And the result is that the dragon can be felt for real. Gong further into details, Vilner stayed true to its own pure style, and used black as a base, combining it with black Alcantara and black carbon leather.

Moreover, the same style was given to the dashboard, the door panels and the black console. The red edges emphasize the shape of the seats and correspond with the dragon at the roof and the red decorative seams on the dashboard.

Other interesting details to be highlighted are the carbon used for the steering wheel and gear shifter, and the red chrome paint utilized for some minor details. The red elements are not random, because this was the original color of the GT-R, which eventually received a white mat foiling finish. The exhaust pipes are made of titanium, and the original ones were increased from 440whp up to 530whp.
