  • 2012 Nissan Bolt GT-R to be Auctioned for Usain Bolt Foundation

2012-NIssan-Bolt-GT-R-THUMB2012 Nissan Bolt GT-R is a special limited edition model developed by the Olympic champion Usain Bolt. The purpose of the one-off gold GT-R is charity and in particular the car will be auctioned for the Usain Bolt Foundation.

The unique Nissan model is embossed with Bolt’s signature and includes interior fittings finished in real gold. The good news is that this model won’t be the last that we will see.

In fact, Bolt’s partnership with the Japanese brand includes his cooperation with Nissan product specialists on a limited-edition run. Of course – only on GT-R models. They will be available throughout the world and the details about this project will be announced at a later stage.

The resources from the auction will be utilized in order to create opportunities for children and young people in the Olympic Champion’s home of Jamaica.

Appointed Nissan’s new “Director of Excitement”, Bolt said: “Racing is my inspiration, and I want to help Nissan become an even more exciting brand for everyone.”

  • Lamborghini Gallardo UR Twin Turbo vs Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12+

Dragtimesinfo has released a new crazy video featuring Lamborghini Gallardo UR Twin Turbo and Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12+. Both cars are sensational – the GT-R has 1500HP (around 1200WHP), while the Gallardo boasts 2000HP (1500 WHP). In other words, there is nothing faster on the public roads than these two vehicles. The Gallardo managed to stop the clock in acceleration between 200 and 300 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The GT-R runs on Race Fuel VP Import 120 and the Gallardo is powered by Race Fuel VP C-16. The Lamborghini has 6-speed manual gearbox and the driver has a lot of difficulties changing gears so fast. The Nissan has robotic manual gearbox making changing much easier.

Both cars have huge problems with the traction, despite the AWD and four slicks fitted on the wheels. They made a lot of starts, but obviously the faster car is the GT-R.

Enjoy the video, where you will see one of the cars passing police post with more than 300 km/h.

  • Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12+ vs Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R

Usually we know that the motorcycles are extremely fast and especially, when matched to ordinary cars. However, the highly tuned Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12+ is not an ordinary car and it manages to beat a lot of superfast bikes including this brand new Kawasaki ZX-14R, which also has minor upgrades.

The GT-R AMS Alpha 12+ is running on regular 93 octane gasoline, but still has more than 1000WHP (1200+ HP). It rolls Toyo 888R tires, which hardly can get any traction at low speeds.

The Kawasaki ZX-14R comes with modified sports exhaust system boosting the engine to 220HP (195 WHP), which is also a lot, because the bike is superlight.

Still, the GT-R is way faster than the mighty ZX-14R as you will see in the video below.

    Enjoy!

  • Porsche 911 Turbo Proto 1000 vs Nissan GT-R vs Porsche 9ff vs Porsche 911 PP-Performance [HD video]

Here is a nice video of an epic battle between several highly tuned vehicles – Porsche 911 Turbo Proto 1000 with 1100HP, Nissan GT-R Mk.1 Stage 2 with 560HP, Porsche 911 PP-Performance Stage 1 with 650HP and Porsche 911 Turbo 9ff with 900HP.

In the first start, the mighty Protomotive VRT1000 Porsche meets a lot underpowered Nissan GT-R Mk.1. The Porsche crosses the finish line at 1 mile with 256.04 km/h and 27.567 seconds time, while the GT-R finished in 31.757 seconds (without reaction times).

The second start is between 911 PP-Performance and 911 Turbo 9ff. Again, one of the cars has a lot more horsepower, but there is an intrigue between the two of them. The 9ff finishes in 27.735 seconds with 305.86 km/h, but this is not enough to win. The 911 PP-Performance stops the clock at 27.544 seconds with 292.20 km/h.

The third start is between the two winners – the Protomotive VRT1000 vs 911 PP-Performance. Although the 911 PP-Performance has stopped the clock at 27.804 seconds with 290.55 km/h, it wasn’t enough to beat the staggering Protomotive VRT1000, which finished in just 26.452 seconds.

  • Switzer Prepare 1000HP Nissan GT-R Ultimate Street Edition

Switzer-Nissan-GT-R-USE-thumbThis is a 1000 HP Switzer Nissan GT-R. It will be known as the Ultimate Street Edition but it won’t be the most powerful product ever to come from the Oberlin, Ohio-based company. No, back in 2010 there came out another GT-R labeled R1KX that had 1000 and above WHP but it was essentially a track-happy sort of car and a nightmare in the real world. It had a tendency to overheat in traffic jams, to shift gears in a jerky manner, and a thirst for a racing-grade kind of fuel. The only practical use of it was to shed tenths of a second on lap times. This one though, the USE is a car that can be driven “comfortably every day, to the track or the office or the grocery store, on the highway or in bumper-to-bumper traffic” claims Tym Switzer.

Still, it will have 1000 crankshaft hp no doubt and that figure hasn’t been achieved by shoving in a W16 engine under the hood or something like that. In fact, the Switzer people are so full of admiration towards the Nissan brand that the 3.8L engine block has been essentially untouched. What they have done however, is to stick two liquid-cooled turbochargers to it. Turbochargers with sophisticated billet compressor wheels that is. They provide over 30% more free-flow when compared to more ordinary turbines. The intercoolers are also from Switzer and so is the new overall cooling system. The exhaust system on the other hand, has been specifically made to behave like a dentist’s drill on the streets and like a jack hummer on the track. The suspension is lower but the ride will be somehow better we are told:

“Softer tires, adjustable shocks, and serious reductions in unsprung weight all come together in these cars. Once you factor in our ‘nano-carbon’ brake pads that improve bite and reduce fade, you have a package that’s better than stock in every way, without punishing your kidneys from being super-stiff.”

The one thing that has been replaced completely, is the transmission. At that point, Shepherd Transmissions had to come up with something that will withstand and utilize immense amounts of power and at the same time prevent your neck from snapping during shifts.

Not an easy job working on a Godzilla – it’s packed full of sophisticated electronics that will make your ears bleed as soon as they detect some hardware changes. But Switzer are out there when it comes to GT-R overhauling. And this, the Swtizer Nissan GT-R Ultimate Street Edition proves that they can do that with finesse as well.

  • Ferrari 599 GTO vs Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Nissan GT-R [HD video]

Another great video has been released by Dragtimesinfo. This time the mighty 599 GTO Fiorano meets two tuned beasts – GTR Mk2 Ecutek Stage 2 with 670HP and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Lingenfelter with 730HP.

The 599 GTO Fiorano is powered by a naturally aspirated all-aluminum 6.0 liter V12 with 670HP (493 kW) at 8250RPM and 620 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque at 6500RPM. 0-100 km/h in 3.35 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph). The overall weight is 1 605 kg (3 540 lbs), which is almost 100 kg (220 lbs) less than the standard GTB.

In the first start, the GTO meets the GT-R. The Ferrari is doomed, because of the rainy surface. The GT-R ran ¼ mile in just 11.606 seconds with 210 km/h and crossed the finish line with 300 km/h for just 28.156 seconds.

The battle against the ZR1 was much more interesting, because both cars are RWD. Still, the Corvette manage to beat the 599 crossing the finish line with 309 km/h with time of 29.356 seconds.

  • Nissan Launches Limited Run of JUKE-R [VIDEO]

Nissan-Juke-R-thumbYou remember the Juke-R, don’t you? The one that puts to shame some of the most established brands out there on a track. Well, now you can have one…presumably. Nissan are putting it on a very limited run. In fact, they will set their production policies for it, on an on-demand manner.

The first time we saw the Nissan Juke-R was on a track in Dubai, trashing Lmaborghinis, Ferarris and alike. Nissan say, that the ensued interest was “enormous”. So enormous in fact that they now have…ahem…three orders for it. In the coming four weeks, the company is ready to tackle more requests and make it’s customers happy.

The one that debuted in Dubai, used various bits and pieces from the MY10 Nissan GT-R. These new ones however, are going to help themselves to the MY12 GT-R range. To put that in numbers: 3.8-liters of displacement, at least 530 hp, and 612 Nm of torque. A top speed of 315 km/h while 0 to 100 kph shouldn’t take more than 3.5 seconds. Smashing.

Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Product Manager for the Juke, said: “The Juke-R was originally intended as a one-off concept to marry two of Nissan’s most innovative models. But the reaction we had to the car in Dubai was amazing – people were making offers for the original on the street!”

“With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality. We can’t let down enthusiasts who are this keen to add to their collection of cars. The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon and I’m enormously proud of the impact it has had. There will be more news to come on Juke later in the year.”

Coincidentally, The Juke-R is also getting a sort of a promotional film. Titled Desert Nemesis, the motion picture depicts the Juke-R in all of its glory (that includes the sound). The director is the award-winning Rob Kaplan who has managed to capture all of that which makes a car enthusiast tingle (that includes the cars). Here it is:

  • Nissan GT-R Track Pack – Less is More

Nissan-GT-R-Track-Pack-thumbIf anything can put a smile on the face of a hardcore track day enthusiast, it’s going to be a Nissan GT-R. More so even if that GT-R happens to be a Track Pack edition. That’s the latest to come out from Nissan and it is design to shed precious seconds on the racing track. At the same time, it still has to be able to take you home trough the public roads – tricky. Most importantly, all is made by people from Nissan with the blessing of the car’s creator – Kazutoshi Mizuno.

Let’s start from the very foundation of the Track Pack – six-spoke RAYS alloy wheels that weigh 10 kg less than the ones found on a standard GT-R. Cooling ducts carved trough the front splitter reduce can reduce the operating temperature of the brake discs by as much as 100 degrees while on the run. Air is also channeled towards the back.

The suspension has been stiffened up which aids stability and rigidity. The Nissan engineers should know since the Track Pack GT-R has been developed on the premiss of the Nürbergring – the best place in the world to test out a track-focused vehicle. Now that ride home may not sound like much of a bargain but Nissan say that with the flick of a switch the dampers can start acting as if they had been filled with whipped cream.

Inside, one won’t find the rear seats nor the front ones in fact (the standard ones that is). You only get two sports seat wrapped in something called “magic cloth” – blue-on-grey fabric and leather that prevents you from slipping out upon experiencing the notorious GT-R lateral forces. If, by any chance you fail to notice all of those deviations, an emblem sits on the dashboard just to let you know that you are in fact, in a Track-Pack.

On the other hand, despite looking like a hardcore, medieval torture chamber, it still has a Bose audio system and a rear-view camera. Nobody has dared to fiddle with the oily bits as well, most probably because they are perfect already – 550PS power output, and a 0-62 time of just 2.8 seconds is pretty much self explanatory.

The Track Pack is only available in the UK and Japan, and is priced at £10,000 ($16,187) more than the standard £74,450 ($120,512) GT-R.

  • PUR Wheels on Nissan GT-R

Nissan-GT-R-PUR-thumbNissan GT-Rs have always been a favorite for ambitious tuners. What we see here can only support that theory. It’s a collaboration project between two companies – The American based PUR Wheels company and the Indonesian Premier Autowerkz… apparently. The whole project is rather obscure and not much information is available.

On what we can focus however, are those 3 piece “4OUR Depth“ PUR wheels they have fitted. Beautifully made 5 double spokes (that’s one way of putting it). It’s as if fragile twigs support the weight of the whole Nissan. The wheel arches are nicely filled in and the gold calipers certainly make a statement – “I like it a bit flashy”. Indeed, if I were to drive around in a car that has such a conspicuous racing strip across the hood, roof and trunk, one must assume that that I like flashy things, no doubt.

Other than that we can see some fascia work being done at the front and back. Also these exhaust tips do not look very stock. We’ll be on the lookout for more information about this. Otherwise we can play the guessing game all day long.

  • Nissan Juke-R [video review]

Autocar.co.uk has released a test review of the strange Nissan Juke-R, which is claimed to be the ultimate crossover. Practically, the car is a GT-R with different body, because everything from the sports car is taken and put in the Juke.

    The Juke-R is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8 liter V6 with 485HP (357 kW) at 6400RM and 588Nm (434 lb-ft) at 3200RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox enabling the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and having a top speed of 258 km/h (160 mph).

There is no doubt, that the Juke-R is very interesting, fun and spectacular, but all in all it is a marketing trick aiming to boost Nissan’s sales.

The car have been developed by Nissan and are being built by leading motorsports outfit RML with input from Nissan Technology Centre for Europe (NTC-E).

The ultimate crossover also features sport suspension, huge wheels and performance brake system. The interior is also coming from GT-R. You’ll see the same dashboard, dials, steering wheel and many more.

What are the impressions? Check in the video below.

  • Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 at the race track [HD video]

Nissan has revealed the GT-R Nismo GT3 race car, which is prepared by JR Motorsports, the official partner for this major project. GT-R GT3 has been developed since 2011 and now it is put on series of extensive tests – which have included three competitive outings.

The GT-R Nismo GT3 is powered by a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 with 530 PS (390 kW / 523 hp) and 612 Nm (451 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. It is interesting, because originally the GT-R is AWD car, but the racing version will be a lot faster with only one drive axle.

The racing car was displayed in the UK at Autosport International (Europe’s biggest motorsport exhibition) in January, but since then nothing special is mentioned about it, until now.

However, JRM and NISMO offer the racecar in Japan, Asia, North America, South America, Oceania, Europe, Russia and the Middle East. The price starts from 298 000 Euro.
