  • HOT: Nissan Releases GT-R 45th Anniversary Limited Edition

Nissan-GT-R-45-THUMBThis is HOT news! Nissan has announced the release of a limited edition GTR 45th Anniversary model.  There will be only 45 units produced and sadly – they will be distributed only in Japan. This special GT-R will go on sale in early February throughout the country, when also will happen the release of the 2015 model year GT-R. Nissan GT-R was introduced to the world in 2007. Since then, the car has been dubbed as one of world’s foremost high performance super sports cars. Now, the GT-R’s legacy continues as the ultimate Grand Tourer – Racer (GT-R) gets a 45th anniversary limited edition.

Of course, it will offer the emblematic comfortable ride and refinement; exclusive finish and exceptional performance. This “multi performance” character of the car allows the driver to enjoy the full depths of the GT-R’s capabilities.

The limited edition is based on the GT-R from the 2015 model year. The ride quality has been specially tuned to exhibit better refined feel than its predecessors. As mentioned, 45th Anniversary will come with a special paint color called “Silica Brass”. This is the same shade of the Skyline GT-R M-Spec which was announced the “a GT-R that satisfies the mature driver” when it was released in 2001.

The limited GT-R will be only offered with the Premium Edition trim level, which features an exclusive emblem on the lower part of the interior center cluster and an exclusive model plate number in the engine compartment.

  • Limited Edition 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO Finally in U.S.

The less there is of something, the more you want it. That is one of the many unwritten human principles that keep the world going. It could be said that it is applicable to, pretty much, anything. Especially when it comes to cars. It is a known fact that there is a limited amount of GT-R NISMO’s which are made every year. And the number of those that go to U.S. is even more limited.

October 21, 2014 turns out to be rather important for Nissan and even more memorable and significant for Winston-Salem, North Carolina, resident Matt McCulloh who received the first 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO produced for the U.S. market.

McCulloh points out with extreme excitement that; “This car to me is like a brute-force tool. To me it is so purpose-built that I am going to do a lot of track.” He, then, continues and adds; “I’m going to really use this car as far as track, autocross, a little drag-strip – so, you know, track and getting to spend some time in this great garage that I have here now.”

It is intense, it is aggressive and, obviously, it is really wanted. With its screaming 600-horsepower, it becomes the most powerful and most desirable Nissan GT-R ever made. After all, it is quite an honor to have something that is of a limited edition. It kind of makes you feel more… special and valuable. One of a kind, just like the car. Almost (let’s not forget there are still a few more one-of-a-kinds who have been lucky enough to grab a hold of the limited 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO).

  • Volkswagen Golf R is the safest car on wet roads

    VW-Golf-R_thumbVW-Golf-R_651

Drivers in the Northern Hemisphere of the world now face winter, which always brings months of road challenges that include fog, ice, snow and rain. Most people will keep on driving even in these conditions so having a safe car for challenging roads is essential if you want to get from point A to point B with no problems at all. This is especially true if you own a performance car too.

Choosing one such car is now a bit easier thanks to the efforts of the British automobile magazine Autocar. According to it, the safest wet road performance car is the Volkswagen Golf R. The result was achieved after extensive testing that included various other models such as the MINI Cooper, Audi RS4, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, Range Rover Sport, Toyota GT86 and Nissan GT-R. The safety test included five separate challenges at a manufacturer test facility at MIRA Proving Ground. We should also say that the cars tested used tires chosen by the vehicle manufacturer.

All cars underwent tests that included control over stopping from highway speeds of 70 mph (113 km/h), stability when accelerating, braking on ice-like conditions at lower speeds, level of lateral grip when cornering and precision around a circuit.

VW’s four-wheel-drive Golf R, which costs GBP 31,970 and produces 296 bhp (300 HP/220 kW), performed the best across all five tests, with the rear-wheel-drive GBP 24,995, 197 bhp (200 HP/147 kW) Toyota GT86 the worst. Running the VW Golf R close was the GBP 88,400 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with exception for the Lateral Grip tests where it’s rear-biased weight distribution unsettled its handling.

“Driving conditions can become hugely challenging very quickly for drivers of sportier and higher performance vehicles. It is very easy to get caught out,” explains Chas Hallett, editor-in-chief of Autocar. “Advanced electronics certainly aid the driver, and winter tyres will improve grip, but drivers still need to drive within their limits and abilities, not the cars.”

  • 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO Enters the Gran Turismo6

2015-Nissan-GT-R-NISMO-THUMB2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO is now available in Gran Turismo6 and is free to download for all GT Academy entrants. The collaboration between Nissan and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has made this possible for fans of the automaker and popular game. The GT-R NISMO is the ultimate articulation of the R35 GT-R. The car was first released in 2007, and since then the Japanese team of designers and engineers have been meticulously honing the GT-R’s performance with each version of the car that has followed.

At the GT Academy 2014 European Race Camp at Silverstone, the 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO made an appearance, where it was also announced that the car would be made available for purchase from the in-game dealership. What is more, for all of the GT Academy fans, Nissan has made the car free to download. The only requirement for the Gran Turismo6 player is he or she to have had entered the GT Academy 2014 competition.

Nissan GT-R Nismo is powered by the 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine which produces 600 horsepower (441 kW) at 6,800RPM and 654Nm (481 kW) at 3,200RPM. It covers the acceleration sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 311 km/h (193 mph). The powertrain is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sending the power to the four-wheel drive system (4WD).

The Nismo also features advanced aerodynamics which generate additional 100kg of downforce at 300km/h (186mph) for stunning road-behavior. The real road version of the Nissan GT-R NISMO is currently being delivered in Japan. The car is also now on sale in the United States and Europe and the deliveries are scheduled for October.

  • Nissan GT-R GT800+ Turbo Drive – 327km/h Tire Blowout!

One of the worst fears of every driver is to blowout a tire, especially a front one. The danger grows exponentially with the speed and imagine, if you are driving with over 300 km/h and this happens…

The misfortune happened to an extremely tuned Nissan GT-R GT800+ Turbo Drive (over 800HP) with 327 km/h (203 mph). The vehicle was accelerating crazily at the highway and just after it passed the 200 mph barrier, the unthinkable occurred. The front right Dunlop Sport Maxx GT600 tire exploded and the driver found himself flying towards the concrete wall.

Fortunately, he managed to keep the car under control and no fatal accidents occurred. While, he was slowing down he passed a lorry and a normal car with over 180 km/h (and a blown tire).

Remember, that he can’t step hard on the brakes, because the car is more likely to lose control and spin.

When luck is combined with professional skills, everything is fine!

Take a close look at the video below and remember that this can happen without warning!

  • Nissan’s Forward Emergency Braking Technology

Nissan’s new Forward Emergency Braking technology works like Bats do. Consider that bats fly in the pitch black but rarely, if ever, hit anything. And some types of bats can catch insects while flying in the dark. To do this, bats they emit very high frequency sounds and use sonar, analyzing how the signals bounce off other objects, to give them an accurate grasp on distances and locations. All of this in the pitch dark.

The latest technology in Nissans uses similar techniques to analyze certain environments and situations. Unfortunately humans do not have sonar so they must use their eyes and ears to check his surroundings. At times this may not be enough to prevent collisions and accidents. Too bad cars aren’t like bats.

Well, now they can be, sort of. Engineers at Nissan have developed a technology called Forward Emergency Braking. The way it works is that in some situations, the technology calculates whether there is a risk of a collision with an object detected in front of the vehicle and then responds.

This is how it works. The Forward Emergency Braking system constantly monitors the distance between the vehicle and the one in front of it. This means that if for some reason the distance to the other car suddenly decreases, the system will determine that there is a risk of collision and will sound an audible alert. At this stage, the driver needs to notice this warning and then take action to avoid a collision.

But if this doesn’t happen and the system judges that the car is still in danger of colliding with something, it will automatically engage the brakes, helping avoid a collision. If a collision is unavoidable, the speed of the vehicle will have been decreased helping to mitigate damage caused by the collision.

The Forward Emergency Braking system is just one of the many technologies available to help drivers stay aware of their surroundings. Additionally, there is also Blind Spot Warning (BSW), which can detect another car diagonally behind, an area that may be difficult for a driver to see. There is also Lane Departure Warning (LDW), which alerts a driver when they are about to stray from their lane. There is even technology that can read road signs and warn a driver if they are trying to enter a one-way street traveling the wrong direction.

Think this is advanced, the folks in Nissan Safety Technology Group are working on systems that sense whats going on with a vehicle two cars ahead. How is this possible? When a car is traveling on a highway or a place where multiple cars are moving in a row, the sensor at the front of the car can detect the distance to and also the relative speed of the vehicle two cars ahead. The technology is no longer just watching directly in front; it is now looking even further ahead. For example, if the driver two cars ahead of yours suddenly braked, the technology in the car can detect this and tell the driver so he or she can perform the next appropriate action.

The technology is called Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW). It examines the movement of the car traveling two vehicles ahead and if it determines that the driver should brake, it will alert him or her both visually and by a warning sound. By warning the driver to brake early on, it can help prevent a pileup.

Nissan knows that technology that monitors the surroundings can work to reduce accidents or the damage caused by unavoidable collisions. Just like bats in the dark, the latest car technologies are helping drivers keep an eye on certain vehicle surroundings, helping to reduce potential accidents.

  • Nissan GT-R vs Michelle Jenneke – Australian Hurdler

Top Gear has published an awesome video on Youtube in their typical humoristic style. It features a Nissan GT-R and the Australian hurdler – Michelle Jenneke. The question is simple – which is faster? A GT-R or a woman?

To make the race more interesting, the sprint is made to a 50 meter mark and back to the start. In that case, the GT-R should go in reverse gear, which is a bit harder to change as Jeremy explains.

    The GT-R is the Mk.1 powered by a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 with 480HP (353 kW) at 6,400RPM and 588Nm (436 lb-ft) of torque at 3,200RPM. 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed 310 km/h (194 mph). The curb weight is 1,750 kg (3858 lbs). It rolls enormous 20” alloy wheels fitted with 255/40 R20 and 285/35 R20 front/rear performance tires.

Nothing is mentioned about the acceleration of Michelle, but she obviously takes the start.

Jeremy Clarkson uses the launch control as a real “gentleman”.

The race is really close. Enjoy!

  • TOP 10 Fastest Cars 2013 [part 2] – Trap Speed

3rd place is held by Nissan GT-R R35 Mk.1 Switzer R1K-X Goliath with 1,700 HP (1,250 kW). Oleg B. managed to scoop the bronze with 402.23 km/h (250 mph).

2nd place is for Leonid V. and his Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggera Underground Racing R2 / Altechno with epic 2,005HP (1,474 kW). He crossed the finish line with 402.68 km/h (250 mph).

1st place is also for Leonid V. with Lamborghini Gallardo Nera Exelixis / GTR RT / ZOD / SPP / GTT / Altechno / Syvecs with 1,850HP (1,360 kW). The record for 2013 is 409.09 km/h (254 mph), which is just insane.

The time, which Leonid V. set with the Gallardo Nera Exelixis is almost unbeatable. He managed to cover 1 mile in 20.845 seconds, which means that the car accelerates 0-409 km/h in that time. The new Koenigsegg Agera One:1 is believed to do 0-400 km/h in 20.0 seconds, but we strongly doubt that. It is quite impossible.

A lot of improvements are expected for Nissan GT-Rs, which are still in it. We also expect to see twin-turbo version of Lamborghini Aventador and other interesting hyper cars.

    Stay tuned and enjoy!

  • Extreme Turbo Systems Nissan GT-R – World Record 1/4 mile in 7.81 seconds [video]

Extreme Turbo Systems are proud to state that they have the world’s fastest Nissan GT-R. The modified car is able to cover ¼ mile in just 7.81 seconds with a terminal speed of 294.5 km/h (183 mph). The tuning company didn’t specify any performance figures, but the project is prepared almost entirely from them.

The previous record belonged to AMS Alpha Omega Nissan GT-R, which crossed the ¼ mile finish line in 7.984 seconds with a terminal speed of 299.3 km/h (186 mph). We must note that the AMS Alpha Omega Nissan GT-R is completely street legal, which can’t be said for the Extreme Turbo Systems GT-R, which by the way uses RWD (rear-wheel drive), instead of AWD (all-wheel drive).

Of course, AMS Performance won’t leave the situation like this and we have to expect even faster GT-R. The tuning company is the home of the first 9-,8- and 7-second Nissan GT-R, so they know exactly what to do in order to beat that record. Other interesting records held by AMS Alpha Omega GT-R are 60-130 mph (96-209 km/h) in 2.67 seconds and 100-150 mph (160-240 km/h) in 2.42 seconds. It also set 0-60 mph in spectacular 1.72 seconds.
