Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV Shows its Futuristic Design in Chicago

We do expect a Mitsubishi Concept car to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this year. However, we were surprised to see another concept debuting at the Chicago Auto Show, called Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV. It is absolutely breath-taking with its futuristic design and large crossover qualities. It is visible that Mitsubishi has imbued in it its new design language. The vehicle is driven by a powerful but highly efficient supercharged V6 engine as well as an electric motor, making it a plug-in hybrid. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic and there is a full-time Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive.

The company also said that this GC-PHEV features technology which will be incorporated into future vehicles. As you can see the concept features bold and muscular styling that is not typical for the current trend in the automotive industry. Its drivetrain system produces an overall output of 335 horsepower (246 kW).

New technology incorporated in the concept is the Tactical Table. This is an innovative interactive information system that is available to everyone inside the vehicle. In summary it works in this way: when the driver or a passenger places their smartphone atop the Tactical Table, they can create, collect, exchange and share information with others using the Concept GC-PHEV’s communication system.

Furthermore, there are also additional technological features including the “Connected Car” Technology, AR Windshield, Pedestrian Collision Mitigating Auto-braking, Rearward Blind Spot Vehicle Warning, Unintentional Vehicle Move Off Control, Driver Monitor and many more. Mitsubishi’s More Powerful Outlander is a Nice Surprise

Mitsubishi is currently introducing to the market a new and more powerful version of its top SUV, the Outlander. The Sport GT and ES trim levels will be equipped with the 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder engine. The unit produces 168 horsepower (123 kW) which is a 20 horsepower increase over the current 2.0-liter engine.

The Outlander Sport 2.4 ES features a black center bumper that differentiates it from the standard ES trim. On the other hand, the Outlander Sport 2.4 GT can be equipped with optional features such as a power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped parking brake handle and aluminum pedals. The GT version also features exterior enhancements tweaks such as the black center bumper, black roof rails and outside mirrors with LED turn indicators.

Furthermore, this trim can be also optionally equipped with the GT Premium Package. The latter adds 710-watt Rockford Fosgate premium sound system with 9 speakers including 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch Control DTS Neural Surround, PremiDIA-WIDE surround and Dolby Volume. The available package also includes panoramic glass roof with adjustable LED mood lighting and auto dimming rearview mirror.

The GT can also get a Touring Package. It comprises of leather seating surfaces and Mitsubishi’s Navigation system with 7-inch high definition touch panel, 3D mapping, point-of-interest information and real-time traffic.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4 ES has a starting of $21,295 USD, while the Outlander Sport 2.4 GT – of $23,595 USD.

Is 2015 Mitsubishi Concept Car the Same as 2013 XR-PHEV?

Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled two teaser images of a new concept vehicle. It is going to be officially revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show this March.

There hasn’t been said much about it but it is known that the new Mitsubishi model will be equipped with the next generation 2WD plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) technology and will exhibit a future-oriented design. The bold lines and confident appearance of the vehicle demonstrates power, dynamism and sufficient stance all of which will match the theme of the 85th International Geneva Motor Show. But still, I am asking myself if this is really going to be something that we haven’t seen until the present day or just quite the opposite.

So far, the 2015 Mitsubishi concept vehicle seems to convey pretty much everything that defines the favorite format of the automaker’s SUV crossovers. With a certain sharpness and rigidness, the car is proclaimed to be “a smart combination of engineering, fluency with a high-output electric motor, low environmental impact, dynamic agility and athletic design”.

Despite the fact that the company describes the up-coming model as something totally new and unseen, what we have on the images looks very similar to the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV concept that was depicted in November 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Let’s just hope that all of the superlatives weren’t used in vain and the new version will really show us something that we haven’t encountered before.

Mitsubishi Introduces Outlander GX5h and GXhs PHEV Models

The most popular SUV in Mitsubishi’s range is undeniably the Outlander. This fact probably stimulates the company to make various versions of it and expand its range. There are two new additions to the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle: the GX5h and GX5hs. Externally the models have some new tweaks that need to be mentioned. Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Crossover Debuts in L.A.

Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Crossover was shoed at the L.A. Auto Show. This is a plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle, which has excellent performance and efficiency, and is also the real sibling version of the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision which we have seen in the newest Gran Turismo 6 PlayStation game. The SUV features the same prominent and bold styling as the virtual concept and has many of its styling characteristics.

The futuristic vehicle hints at the future design direction for company’s production cars in North America. It blends the functionality of an SUV, the dramatic, eye-catching appeal and performance of a sports coupe and the drivetrain of a PHEV vehicle.

The muscular of the model is improved by the highly sculpted fenders that go around the oversized high-performance tires. For this also contributes the low and wide stance. Solar cell arrays are embedded within the roof. They help for a better charge of the auxiliary equipment battery. They also serve as an active aerodynamic device in the form of a variable angle spoiler on the trailing edge of the roof.

Inside, we see driver-centric interior. The proof of this is driver’s seat which has been inverted in terms of color combinations in comparison to the other seats. They have been upholstered in black with red accents.

The modern information display pod allows the driver to easily and instantly notice the most important driving parameters. The driving force of this concept car is the front engine and front-wheel drive gasoline-powered 1.1-liter inline-3-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is rated at 134 horsepower (100 kW) and is paired with a lightweight, compact and high-efficiency electric motor which can contribute with 161 horsepower (121 kW) with a high-boost converter. A main drive lithium-ion battery pack with storage capacity of 14 kWh is located beneath the floor of the cabin.

Concept XR-PHEV has been equipped with “connected car” technology that makes use of information systems, thus providing additional information and driving-related logistics in a convenient way. In terms of safety, the vehicle has has been equipped with the following advanced safety systems: Pedestrian Collision Mitigating Auto-braking, Rearward Blind Spot Vehicle Warning, Unintentional Vehicle Move Off Control, Driver Monitor, Driving Safety Support System, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Auto Hi-beam Headlights.

Thailand Gets 2015 Mitsubishi Triton Pickup Truck [VIDEO]

The long-time best seller 2015 Mitsubishi Triton gets its first redesign in nine years! The truck just went on sale in Thailand and the good new is that it won’t be only distributed in this part of the world, but it is going to be introduced sequentially in ASEAN, Oceania, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Latin America. The new Triton was been developed to be the “Ultimate Sport Utility Truck“. It combines the comfort of a passenger car with the functionality of a pickup.

Mitsubishi Reveals Outlander PHEV Concept-S Ahead of Premiere in Paris

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S that was teased twenty days ago now has been showed inside and out with two pictures. The car is set to make its official world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. At the even, Mitsubishi will be also displaying a total of 11 vehicles featuring the Outlander PHEV rally car which competed in the FIA Asia Cross Country Rally 2014, European specification production models, the i-MiEV and other electric powered vehicles.

Outlander PHEV Concept-S is a concept model based on the Outlander PHEV 4WD SUV plug-in hybrid vehicle. It represents a special design package for the production version and its exterior and interior are created under the theme “Sporty and Sophisticated”.

The overall design of the concept model, expresses driving pleasure by delivering powerful and agile performance. In addition, it also combines it with quiet, advanced and high quality driving performance provided by its Twin Motor 4WD and Plug-in Hybrid EV System.

Furthermore, the front end design shields the Three-Diamond mark through bold chromed accent mouldings on either side. This further strengthens the three dimensional effect and additionally suggests motion. Wraparound headlamps contribute to a sense of dynamism sweeping up and outwards.

The same design theme continues at the rear, where the creative team has utilized similar symbolic chrome accents. For instance, such are the elongated combination lamps that run from tailgate to wings. This also expresses dynamic and innovative styling as if bracing the vehicle for better safety. From the outside, car’s body has been decided in brilliant “Platinum White” paint glass flake finish.

In particular, Concept-S’ interior design makes use of painstakingly executed detailing such as the black wood grain trim with silver accent, the centre console designed inspired by Japanese traditional black lacquered boxes and the soft fine leather, hand-stitched by craftsmen selected for the seat upholstery.

Next, the seat upholstery forms a three-dimensional surface with horizontally-ribbed cushioning. In addition, the silver accents of the trimming lines, curving around the seat, further enhance the perceived quality of the interior.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S with Premiere in Paris

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S is coming to Paris. We have just received this information next to two teaser images, which give a slight idea of what the car would look like. 2014 Mondial de l’Automobile or Paris Motor Show, where the new Mitsubishi model will make its official premiere, will take place between 4th and 19th of October in the French capital. This debut comes exactly two years after the company has unveiled the successful Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid electric Twin Motor SUV vehicle at the same show.

Outlander PHEV was world’s first hybrid SUV. It utilizes Plug-in Hybrid EV System powertrain, which brings together the environmental performance and quietness that distinguish electric vehicles. At the same time it delivers great off-road 4WD performance. It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors and has an overall range is up to 880 km and 55 km solely on electricity.

So far the details around this SUV concept are scarce and we are definitely eager to know more about it. The Outlander PHEV Concept-S is of course a concept Mitsubishi model, which however is proposed as a special package of the Outlander PHEV production model. It features refined interior and exterior design that improves Outlander PHEV’s unique driving experience.

The concept model takes “Sporty and Sophisticated” slogan as the theme for its design. Mitsubishi revealed that its refined design expresses the unique combination of spirited 4×4 performance from its twin-motor PHEV system, soothing silent running, and superior on-road performance.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander named one of best back-to-school cars

The US Kelley Blue Book, an important source of automotive information and car prices, has named the Mitsubishi Motors North America Outlander Sport 5-passenger compact crossover/SUV one of the ten best back-to-school cars of 2014.

2014 Mitsubishi Lancer named “Top Safety Pick”

Owners of the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer compact sports sedan have a new reason to be happy with their cars – the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the car “Top Safety Pick”. The Ralliart and Evolution models are not covered by this award, though.

To name the 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer compact sports sedan “Top Safety Pick”, the IIHS used a total of twelve “small cars” for the so-called small overlap front crash test that has 25 per cent of the vehicle’s frontal area on the driver’s side impact a barrier at 40 mph (64 km/h). Introduced in 2012, the small overlap front crash test “replicates what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object such as a tree or utility pole,” according to the IIHS. Half of the vehicles evaluated achieved non-passing grades of “marginal” or “poor”; the IIHS requires that a vehicle earn a grade of “good” or “acceptable” to pass the test.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage becomes most affordable vehicle

The year 2014 appears to be very successful for Japanese automakers, at least in the United States. After the 2014 Nissan Versa Note became one of the 10 coolest cars under $ 18,000, now the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage has been named “the most affordable vehicle shoppers can buy” by Cars.com. The title has been awarded by following guidelines that include equipment, destination fees and anticipated 5-year fuel costs to find the most affordable vehicle to buy and own at the same time.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE, in particular, is the winner. 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero Facelift

Mitsubishi has unveiled the 2015 Pajero Facelift in Japan coming with a number of upgrades for the exterior as well as the interior.

Outside, the 2015 Pajero boasts a new front bumper and a revised grille. There are also LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and a new spare tire cover giving the vehicle more refined look. The interior boasts a complete makeover including new metallic trim elements and additional sound material for the instrument panel, door trim. It further raises the silence inside the vehicle. The VR II models comes with piano black accents, while the Exceed and Super Exceed trim levels feature wood grain trim.

The diesel has 200HP (147 kW) at 3,800RPM and 441Nm (327 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000RPM. The top speed is 185 km/h (115 mph).

The 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero is already on sale in Japan. The price is starting from ¥2,921,400 (before taxes).
