  • Believe It Or Not MINI Clubman Concept Has Six Doors!

MINI-Clubman-Concept-THUMBMINI Clubman Concept showcases brand’s new design philosophy and vision for a higher class of vehicles. The model is 26 centimeters longer and around 17 centimeters wider than the current Clubman. In addition, the concept is also more sophisticated and elegant.

The vehicle is envisioned as a four-door one and sports five seats. As a classic MINI, it features hexagonal radiator grille, Side Scuttles, the Black Band, short overhangs and elliptical front and rear headlights. Clubman Concept is 4223 mm long, 1844 mm wide and 1450 mm in height. The car is decided in Berry Red exterior color, while the roof is in a metallic grey color, called “Blade”.

Seen from the front, the radiator grille incorporates black chrome bumper in the front section. The three-dimensional structure of the chrome ribs inside the front grille additionally improves the front section. In the lower area one can see a continuous air inlet, while a finely wrought chrome rib appears to hover inside the air inlet. In the outer section of the front apron there are the AirCurtains. They give the wheel arches an aerodynamically optimized closure.

Continuing to the sides, there are three chrome elements which give the side section a sense of exclusivity with modern understatement. At the front, the Side Scuttle includes filigree mirror base and turn indicator in an elongated element. Above this, the surrounding shoulder line in chrome offsets the corpus of the car from the greenhouse and roof in hallmark MINI style. At last, the 19″ light alloy rims decided in bicolor Black Chrome and Chrome finish round-out the side view.

At the rear, the Clubman Concept is broad and athletic. The highlight at the rear is the characteristic split doors. In addition, the horizontally positioned rear lights have a highly detailed finish. Here one can also see an aerodynamically enhanced bumper, and a Smart Opening function which is a sensor underneath the bumper.

Inside the concept car also shows exclusivity. The interior has o larger dimensions and offers plenty of space. Unusual materials were utilized here. Some of them include nubuck leather in a light Sky Blue, patent leather in rich Berry Red and black soft nappa leather. In between, elements in patinized silver add accents. Two fabrics were used – Tweed Grey and Black Twill, while the small details such as the buttons with Union Jack embossment on the seats and central console, contrast stitching, piping or red accentuation surfaces in the sun blinds add a touch luxury.

The most powerful presence inside however is attributed to the leather-covered instrument panel. It has a surround in blue limed ash grain and a white porcelain finish. The linear air vents have patinized, silver-plated surrounds; while between them there is an area in Black Chrome which can be back-lit. The lower section of the instrument panel is finished in Berry Red patent leather, which contrasts the discreet design of the upper half.

  • Mcchip-DKR Mini John Cooper Works With A 2.0 TFSI And DSG Gearbox

Mcchip-DKR-Mini-John-Cooper-Works-TFSI-DSG-shadowMcchip-DKR-Mini-John-Cooper-Works-TFSI-DSG-mediumHow often do you get to see some tuner house behind the scenes action? Most of the time it’s just figures and dyno graphs. Ever wondered what it takes to actually do a proper overhaul?

If you have, it’s your lucky day. The guys at Mcchip-DKR have the uncanny idea to lift and transplant a Volkswagen TFSI engine. The recipient? A Mini John Cooper Works. Apparently, the JCW Mini’s 208 hp and 261 Nm of torque just don’t make the cut. Mcchip are anticipating a much more volatile end product with 340 to 350 hp.

The Mini’s new heart, a VAG 2.0 TFSI engine, is supposed to get new pistons and rods before the transfer. A Stage 3 kit (VLN Package) should yeald the desired power output. The rest of the JCW drive train has also been scrapped in favour of a DQ250 DSG transmission and a Drexler differential lock.

Judging by the provided picture material, we’d reckon Mcchip are going through quite a lot of hassle. If, however, everything goes as planned, this should be one demonic piece of work.

The exterior appearance of the study car is exceptional. It features a Bright Highways Grey exterior paint shade over which is applied a hand-polished surface layer with a clear coat. This results in lustrous sheen of the paintwork. A contrasting red is utilized for the roof, roof spoiler and exterior mirror caps.

  • MINI John Cooper Works Paceman With Frozen Black Metallic Paint

MINI-John-Cooper-Works-Paceman-Frozen-Black-THUMBMINI brand is expanding its range of exterior paint finishes for the current models with the inclusion of an exclusive new Frozen Black metallic paint. The latter is available as a limited edition colour for the top of the range MINI Countryman and MINI Paceman models.

The brand highlighted that the new paint has a textured, shimmering matt finish, which contributes for vehicle’s striking and impressive appearance. In addition, the Frozen Black exterior colour and finish will be also offered for the MINI Cooper S Countryman, MINI Cooper SD Countryman, MINI Cooper S Paceman, MINI Cooper SD Paceman, MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and MINI John Cooper Works Paceman.

To go even further into details, the special paint finish was developed via the utilization of a sophisticated manufacturing process which is only exclusive to BMW Group. The painting procedure includes innovative technology and a high level of manual craftsmanship.

In this case, the process is being applied for the first time by brand’s partner Magna Steyr. First of all, the special surface treatment encloses the base layer for grip and corrosion protection, secondly – the colour layer, and thirdly – the clear lacquer finish. The latter also includes silicates in order to create the matted impression and the velvet effect.

The exterior parts which are attached at a later time, like the front and rear aprons and the exterior mirror caps, were also finished separately in Frozen Black metallic. Due to the labor intensive process, typically attributed for example to an independent BMW specialist, the production of cars with this exterior color will be limited to a restricted number of cars.

What is left to be said is that the Frozen Black metallic finish has also abrasion resistance and color fidelity. It is entirely weather resistant and car wash resistant. BMW has also developed care products for the special treatment of this metallic paint finish.
