  • The Temptation of Vilner Mercedes-Benz CLS

Vilner-Mercedes-Benz-CLS-THUMBThe latest astonishing transformation that the Bulgarian tuners from Vilner have made is on the emblematic Mercedes-Benz model CLS. Having in mind what we have seen so far from them, and particularly the great work and craftsmanship they implement on any model, we are to see here another one-of-a-kind vehicle.

The transformation concerns not only the interior, but the exterior as well. Starting with the exterior grille, going through the taillights the great work passes on the interior, where the true power of these talented tuners lies.

In fact, there is no single visible plastic left in the interior. They haven’t spared even the rearview mirror. Sun visors and steering wheel airbag are clad in Alcantara, and seatbelts are replaced with new red ones. Great work isn’t it!

  • Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid – Pricing Announced

Mercedes-Benz-E-300-BlueTEC-Hybrid-THUMBThe most efficient Mercedes-Benz ever produced is the Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid. Everyone who is interested in luxury cars which are at the same time efficient will appreciate the news that the brand has just announced the prices and specifications of the hybrid vehicle

The standard equipment here features 17-inch alloy wheels. However, if one still wants to achieve maximum efficiency, there are the 16-inch wheels, which can deliver the lowest possible CO2 and economy figures. The interior includes leather upholstery, Becker Map Pilot Navigation and LED daytime running lights.

More importantly, the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid combines the powerful but highly efficient 2,143cc, four-cylinder diesel engine, which develops 204 hp (150 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque, and the 20 kW electric motor. They are both mounted within the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission powered by a 19kW Lithium-ion battery.

The effect is that the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid accelerates from rest to 62 mph in 7.5-seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 150 mph. When fitted with the 16-inch wheels, the vehicle is capable of returning 65.7 mpg on the combined cycle while emitting as little as 109 g/km of CO2.

The Hybrid system is packaged within the vehicle. The electric motor, for example, is mounted within the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. The gearbox substitutes a torque converter for a wet clutch system, so that it allows the internal combustion engine to be disengaged entirely via the clutch. In addition it also allows the electric-only drive to be maintained for short periods, while at the same time it boosts economy.

The E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid Saloon has a starting price beginning from £39 645, while the price of the Estate variant starts at £41 435. The deliveries of the new E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid are set to start in November this year.

  • KW coilovers Variant 3+ for Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG

    KW-Mercedes-AMG-SLK-thumbKW-Mercedes-AMG-SLK-medium

KW Automotive have come up with a Variant 3+ “inox-line” coilover kit for the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. It offers enthusiastic drivers some space for experimenting with the firmness and rebound etc. Hopefully, the KW customers will be entitled to an AMG-superior performance as an end result.

Even if you plan to replace the stock wheels, the driving behavior can be optimally adapted since the adjustment wheels are integrated in the damper housing, so no separate tools are required. The rebound settings are essentially 16 clicks which can be made within the engine bay. On the other end of the piston rod, adjustments of the compression can be made by choosing between 12 clicks. Thus one can control body roll without affecting the rebound damping. Needless to say that thanks to a dirt-resistant trapezoid thread on the stainless steel strut, one can lower the SLK 55 AMG Roadster within a TUV approved range (from 5 to 25 mm). The back can go from 15 to 35 mm.

The Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG is the latest from the iconic Mercedes roadster range. It’s also the most powerful history-wise. Under the hood there hides a 5.5 AMG 416 hp V8 engine that’s good for a 0–100 km/h run in just 4.6 seconds. With the KW coilover, you get that extra flexibility with which you can find your style of driving best.

  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Welcomes 1.6 Engine to the Family

2013-Mercedes-Benz-C-Class-thumbJust when you made up your mind on buying the new CLS Shooting Brake, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class pops out to rock your world. It introduces a new petrol engine and comes available with several trims, each ready to satisfy even the pickiest of customers.

The base model will be now known as the Executive SE and it will come in both, Saloon and Estate forms. The engine lineup will consist of the C 180 BlueEFFICIENCY, C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY. Standard equipment on any of the Executive SE models includes a sports grille, new 16-inch alloy wheels, Artico upholstery and LED daytime running lights. Optionally, a Luxury Package add an even more sophisticated grille, 17” alloy wheels with a seven twin-spoke design, automatically dimming rear view mirror and folding exterior door mirrors, chrome trim on the side, rear and shoulder line, a storage package and brown Ash wood trim with a matt finish.

The more interesting however, are the AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus trims. The former adds 17” alloy wheels and halogen headlights while at the same time boast reduced emissions in comparison to the old 2012 C 220 CDI – 123g/CO2 which is 10g less than before. It doesn’t sound much but bares some great tax relief consequences.. The AMG Sport Plus again picks up a notch on the size of the wheels bringing the number to 18” (bi-color AMG ones). You also get a pair of clever bi-Xenon front lights, some sports seats, red seat belts, AMG floor mats and paddles for the automatic models. If your AMG Sport Plus C-Class happens to be a Coupe, you also get an AMG trunk lip spoiler and an option to throw in an AMG Handling Package which enhances the steering, engine, exhaust and transmission response.

    Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe (2013)
    Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe (2013)

Although the name suggests a 1.8 engine, the C 180 BlueEFFICIENCY has a downsized 1.6-liter plant as a drivetrain. The focus here is on ultra-efficiency. It’s a turbocharged petrol unit that outputs 154 hp at 5,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 4,000 rpm. All respectable figures but the real kicker is the consumption 47.9 mpg and 139g/km of CO2 emissions (the Coupe returns 44.1 and 149g). All the while, Mercedes are dropping the 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine for the C-Class Saloon and Estate but the Coupe and the C 63 AMG models will still get it.
