  • When Performance Comes in Blue: 2016 Lexus GS F

One of the most-anticipated cars by Lexus this year has been presented at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The high performance vehicle is dubbed Lexus GS F. It really represents a pioneer in the F-line since it is the first to be based on the larger mid-sized GS luxury sedan.

Trying to slightly get away from its comfort zone, Lexus aimed at producing a car that is rather performance-oriented with a luxury flavor. As a result, this time the automaker left behind the days when Lexus sedans had that deprived of edginess look and were quite plain, comfort-based and even boring. Thanks to the naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine, the 2016 Lexus GS F turns into a vehicle which is all about power and breaking the rules. The power output is that of 467 HP (348 kW) while the maximum torque is 527Nm (389lb-ft).

The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shifting capabilities and three modes: Normal, Sport S and Sport S+. Found in the RC F model, the Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) is used here as well, offering three operating modes: Standard, Slalom and Track. There is also a refined and specially designed suspension system which complements the boosted output. Benefiting from 19-inch alloy wheels with larger tires (255/35-19 front, and 275/35-19 rear) as well as from an upgraded braking system, the new GS F just demonstrated a bit more aggressive character.

Some of the features that additionally underline the acute nature of the Lexus GS F are: the enlarged Lexus’ trademark ‘spindle’ grille, with a mesh pattern and large gaping air vents, refined side skirts, a carbon fiber boot lid spoiler and headlights with L-shaped daytime running lamps. Inside, the cabin arrives with front sport seats, two-tone leather and Alcantara upholstery as well as carbon trims and a sports steering wheel.

  • Lexus Reveals its GS F Saloon

Lexus has unveiled its 2016 GS F well ahead of the car’s official debut at the North American International Auto Show. As it seems, BMW M4 just got a high-class competitor!

Benefiting from a wide range of enhancements, the new Lexus GS F Saloon is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine that bursts out 467 bhp (348 kW / 473 PS) at 100rpm and 527 Nm (389 lb-ft) of maximum torque between 4,800 and 5,600rpm. What is more, it is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shifting capabilities.

Despite the fact that the automaker was kind of secretive about more specifications, it revealed that Lexus GS F will have a Torque Vectoring Differential, which premiered in the RC F. There are three different modes:

    • Standard (default) which balances the agility and firmness
    • Slalom, that puts emphasis on nimble steering response and agility
    • Track, which provides with stability in high-speed circuit driving

There is a certain sportiness which characterizes the new model. The GS F’s monocoque chassis will be structurally reinforced and will feature an exceptional suspension package which is set to boost the car’s handling capabilities and ride quality.

Inside, the sporty appearance is continued as there are two-tone sport seats and carbon fiber trim. Contrast stitching and metallic elements accentuate the cabin as well.

Which one would you prefer though? Lexus GS F or BMW M4?

  • Lexus Adds More Safety and Luxury to LS and GS Range

New updates for the Lexus large sedan range have been happening lately. The company has added new on-board and safety technology and even more, it has also enhanced the chassis rigidity of the models. For instance, the LS and GS models benefit from the adoption of Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). They also get ENFORM connected mobility services and SD card-based navigation as well as dual USB ports.

The SD card-based navigation alerts drivers to speed and red light cameras and school zones, while the RCTA function uses the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radar system to detect vehicles approaching from behind and then alerts the driver via visual and audible warnings.

LS and GS also get better chassis stiffness due to the utilization of high rigidity glass and new adhesives. Precisely, the A-pillar of all GS models has been re-engineered and is now stiffer.

In addition, the latter model also benefits from the premium Mark Levinson audio system. It does not come as a standard, except for the GS 350 F model, but it is rather an available option. Unlike the GS range, the LS receives the Mark Levinson system as a standard.

In addition, LS models can also show-off with new LED interior dome lights. All GS models get a new exterior color called Titanium Silver that replaces the Elysium Blue.

  • Lexus Announcing new F-High-Performance Model. Could it be a GS F?

Lexus just teased with couple of images its addition to the F-high-performance range. This is the second vehicle that will be added to company’s growing stable of F cars. Earlier this year the luxury automaker unveiled the brand new RC F and announced that it will debut at 2015 Auto Show in Detroit. This is where we will also see the reveal of a new F model. In particular, it is scheduled for 13th of January, so don’t expect it earlier.

RC F is expected to be launched in February next year. It is powered by a 5.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine. This unit was specifically created for the car. It is linked to a calibrated eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission thanks to which it can help the sports vehicle achieve an impressive 450 hp (330 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft).

Besides this information and the two photos, the Japanese brand did not disclose anything else. We are wondering whether this is a more extreme version of the RC F or a brand new one. Rumors suggest that the car is likely to be based on the GS line-up.

Judged by the pictures, the highly-probable GS F features new headlights and boomerang-shaped DRLs. There is also a more masculine front bumper and multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels finished in black. Underneath them we see oversized brakes. We also see that Lexus added carbon-fiber bits.
