  • How to Hijack a Jeep Cherokee Over the Internet? [VIDEO]

Jeep Cherokee Gets HijackedJeep Cherokee models are one of the most famous SUVs around the United States. The fact that many are eager on driving one is indisputable. We found a very interesting video on YouTube, recently published by WIRED’s official page. It previewed how Andy Greenberg’s SUV gets hijacked… by hackers over the internet.

If you think that this isn’t possible, well, given that the technologies are developing unsteadily fast, it is no surprise that people are capable of doing it. The video below shows how two hackers have developed a tool that can remotely kill a Jeep on the highway.

SEE ALSO: Carbon Motors Present Carbon Infused Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

While, WIRED’s senior writer, Andy Greenberg, takes the 2014 Jeep for a spin, the hackers were capable of sabotaging it from miles away. In fact, the duo developed the software for this particular model for over a year and it does not require any hardware change to the SUV.

Interestingly enough, there are no devices attached to the SUV that will allow a remote control. However, the Cherokee had a weakness, through which both hackers could attack it over the internet. How this has happened, see for yourself and watch it in the video below. I promise it will be very funny.

  • Power Boosts Define B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee

B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee Front and Side ViewB&B Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD 4×4 is originally powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine. The production variant of the unit produces 250 hp (183 kW) and 570 Nm (421 lb-ft) of torque. B&B tuning company did not see satisfaction in these numbers so it created a two stage program, offering a power boost for the car. There are also some styling updates included.

    Two Stages for the Engine

Both power upgrades feature air intake optimisation. In addition, the ECU remaps improve further the fuel flow to the injectors. There is also an increase of the turbo boost pressure by 0.2 and 0.25 bar for the Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrade, respectively.

SEE ALSO: B&B Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG is Capable of up to 450 HP/580 Nm

Stage 1 offers an additional 45 horses. This means that the total output of the car is now rated at 295 hp (217 kW) and 640 Nm (472 lb-ft) of torque. Luckily, the top speed was also increased from 203 to 212 km/h.

    B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine

The second power boost, Stage 2, breaks the 300 hp barrier, and delivers 310 hp (228 lb-ft) and 670 Nm (495 lb-ft) of torque. The improvement in top speed is little over Stage 1, but important, because it takes the B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee to 215 km/h.

Furthermore, the tuners also remapped the electronic torque limiting system for the eight-speed automatic transmission and this has been also done for the engine ECU.

    Other Goodies

The performance upgrades found in the B&B Jeep Grand Cherokee continue with the addition of twin-outlet stainless-steel sports exhaust with 140×90 mm tailpipes. It not only looks good but also enhances the exhaust note.

In order to make the new power capabilities of the Jeep even more attractive, B&B improved the engine acoustics via sound generator. And this is how the experts achieved a baritone growl of a V8 for a V6. The acoustic system includes a test module on the control unit, which includes six sound profiles that the driver can choose from.

Furthermore, the driving dynamics were improved with 40mm reduction in ride height via lowering springs. At last, everything was rounded out by 10×22-inch alloys coupled with 285/35R22 tyres at all four corners.

The striking Renegade police car is a result of a partnership between Jeep’s Swindon-based dealership , T H White Fiat Group Brand Centre and Wiltshire Police. And now, T H White agreed to offer extended six month test drive. And at the end of the test period, Wiltshire Police plans to buy the vehicle. In fact, the Renegade itself is already fitted with full police graphics, lights, siren and the special Gable Cross Police Station, Swindon.

    The Renegade

The car comes with 1.6 Diesel Sport engine, that provides the best-in-class off-road ability and world-class dynamics and performance. The inside comes with numerous functional details, especially crafted from high-quality materials. There are also numerous colors, used in the cabin, which makes it cozy, but yet functional. Surely, the latest addition to the police force will offer incredible functionality and performance. But, if  I have to be honest, I don’t want to be a passenger in this particular Renegade unit. It drives well, but after all it will bring me in only one spot: the police station.

  • Kahn Unveils Sunset Orange Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Every Friday I am used to receiving an e-mail from Kahn Design with its latest project. And since today is the day, let me introduce you to the Jeep Wrangler CJ300 by the Chelsea Truck Company (CTC). This one is so cute that I am sure you’ll love it as I did. The Wrangler is definitely my favorite from all Jeep models, and it seems like the one and only Afzal Kahn has the same feelings for it, too. So, let’s take a look at the newest addition in Chelsea Truck Company’s portfolio.

    Exterior

Starting from the outside, the exterior of the Wrangler looks intriguing with its two-tone design scheme. The tuners have used Sunset Orange as paint, but have accentuated it with a contrasting Piano Black used for the door handles, fuel filler cap and mirrors.

SEE ALSO: Kahn Releases Tech Pack for the Range Rover Evoque RS Sport

At the front we see two smoked headlights flanked by a four-slot Chelsea Truck Company grille that features industrial mesh. We can’t miss the LED Diamond bright headlights and CTC’s spare wheel cover, which rounds out the exterior modifications.

    Wheels & Tires

Complementing the Piano Black theme are the Satin Black 17-inch big Jeep 1941 wheels. They fit perfectly to vehicle’s exterior and are fitted with Copper Discoverer ST Maxx 285/70/17 all terrain tires. Commenting on the wheels, we can’t fail to see the new painted brake callipers with a set of mud flaps. There is also a new quad-cross-hair exhaust system.

    Interior

For the cabin, Kahn Design has used quilted and perforated leather extensively. It has been matched with contrasting white stitching. The same material was used for the centre glove box and arm rests, while the steering wheel is absolutely new and now offers greater grip and feel for the driver.

At last, beneath the waistline we see stainless steel door entry sill plates and new floor mats.

  • GeigerCars.de and Jeep Team Up and Release 718HP Grand Cherokee SRT

GeigerCars.de is a tuning company based in Germany which specializes in the customization of American-made cars. This time under their attention is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, which has received some significant updates under the hood and minor exterior treatment.

    Drivetrain

First and foremost here is the engine upgrade. Via a supercharger, the experts have boosted the standard figures of the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine under the hood of this Jeep. Precisely, the 2.9-liter supercharger features an intercooler.

SEE ALSO: Here is How GeigerCars.de Customized the Ford Mustang GT

Combined with the internal engine modifications including uprated pistons and the new ECU with its altered fuel and ignition software, the result is astounding: the vehicle can now produce up to 718 hp (528 kW) and 776 Nm (573 lb-ft) of torque.

Fortunately, GeigerCars.de has given us date how this car reacts against the stopwatch after the tuning was implemented. And the new numbers are quite spectacular. The SRT Cherokee blasts to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The Vmax was also updated and it now stands at 295 km/h.

    Exterior

The enhanced performance nececarily needs improvements in safety. Therefore, the tuning company decided to offer performance suspension modifications via new lowering sport springs and uprated anti-roll bars that additionally reduce body roll in fast cornering.

Other than the foil wrap, which comes in brown-goldish color, and wheels and tires we won’t see anything else changed here. The alloys measure 22-inch and come in black polished color, while the rubbers measure 305/35R22 at all four corners.
