  • Kahn Reveals Entirely Redesigned Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Kahn-Jeep-Wrangler-Sahara-4DR-Chelsea-Truck-Company-CJ300-THUMBWe have just received the striking pictures of Kahn Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4DR Chelsea Truck Company CJ300. As you can guess this is the latest creation of the British company, which has taken all the good from the standard model and added some comfort, style and exclusivity to the Sahara. First, we see that the original exterior color was substituted with Volcanic Grey Satin. The grille is also new. Sitting up front, the four-slot grille is Chelsea Truck Company-made and features an industrial mesh between two smoked headlamps.

If you take a closer look to either of the side wing blades, you will see that they got a carbon fibre construction. They and the fuel filler door contrast with the Volcanic Grey finish. Piano Black door mirrors, door handles and roof, 100mm tailpipes quad crosshair system and a Chelsea Truck Company spare wheel cover is what exaggerates this contrast even more.

The interior is hidden from prying eyes thanks to added privacy glass. Of course, there is much to be seen inside, since we are speaking about an A. Kahn Design tuning. The front with its heated front seats, the rear GTB sport seats centre glove box and the armrests have all been re-upholstered in black and red quilted/perforated leather.

There is also a new steering wheel, which now offers up greater grip and feel for the driver. Beneath the waistline sits stainless steel door entry sill plates and floor mats.

At last, the toughness is of this Jeep Wrangler model is emphasized by the 9 x 20 inch Jeep 1988 wheels in a Satin Black finish fitted with beefy 275/55/20 inch tyres. Behind those wheels sit Liquid Red brake callipers along with a new set of mud flaps.

  • Jeep Wows Brazil with 2015 Renegade

Jeep-Renegade-6THUMB2015 Jeep Renegade has been introduced in March but it is not late for the vehicle to make its first official appearance in Latin America. The equivalent of the show in Geneva is Sao Paulo and it is where the magic happens. In fact, at this show debut such vehicles that we can’t see anywhere else in the world. Take for example the Nissan Kicks concept or the new Troller T4.

But continuing with the main topic, the Renegade stands out with its perfect proportions, which is ideal for the region’s narrow roads. The car offers great off-road capability, open-air freedom and convenience. More importantly, it is equipped with a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission that contributes to outstanding on-road and off-road driving dynamics.

In Brazil, the nine-speed automatic is coupled with the 2.0-liter Multijet II diesel engine flex fuel, while the 1.8-liter E.TorQ engine comes linked to the five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. As a matter of fact, the Renegade will be the first compact SUV equipped with a diesel engine to be sold in Brazil.

In addition, it will also be the first Brazilian-made car that will have the ParkAssist function. 2015 Jeep Renegade perfectly matches the spirit of adventure and can-do attitude of the country and is expected to attract thousands of new customers to the brand. The sales are expected to start during the second quarter of 2015.

  • Common Electrical Problems in Jeeps

If your engine components go there is an easy decision on whether to fix it, replace it or trade in for a new vehicle. But when there is something small like an electrical problem, it always seems like those little ones can lead to larger problems, and are incredibly challenging to fix.

Faulty Instrument Lights. One problem any vehicle can face, not including Jeep models is a instrumental or gauges that aren’t lighting up properly. This could be a problem for a number of reasons, one you can’t see how fast your going, you can’t see your fuel gauge just to name a couple.

No blinker or hazards, or even blinkers that are blinking too fast. This is oddly a problem that does happen often with some LED lights. Sometimes just by adding LED lights could cause this problem, or more commonly you have lost a bulb recently. Nobody wants to be driving behind a Jeep that looks like they are having a rave whenever they turn.

Brake Light is staying lit, well after releasing the brake? The main cause for this is because the tab doesn’t release from the connector properly, which signifies the light as if the brake is still on. But it also could be something as natural as a corroded connector or broken wire.

The problems with electric components can be large of very small and granular. This is the challenge of owning any vehicle, and not a Jeep. But in order to maintain the longevity of your vehicle as recommended to us by a local car tech, is to simply have it maintenance on the regular. Just like visiting your doctor, have your check-ups done to catch the small things before they come big problems.

  • Fourth Generation Jeep Cherokee Debuts At Geneva This Year

Jeep-Cherokee-Limited-and-Trailhawk-shadowJeep-Cherokee-Limited-and-Trailhawk-mediumThe new Jeep Cherokee is upon us. Be on the look out for it if you happen to attend the 84th Geneva International Motor Show. The fourth generation of the mid-sized SUV is sophisticated, off-roadish, torquey and downright ugly/pretty (it’s a hate-it-or-love-it thing so we will refrain from judgement).Coming to Europe in three trim levels – Longtitude, Limited, and Traillhawk – the new Cherokee is supposed to boldly introduce a new face of the Jeep brand…. while remaining “true to the brand”. Every car manufacturer is quick to underline that no matter how outlandsih the final product turns out to be.

Well, there is some truth to that. One of the available engines (only with the Limited and Trailhawk editions) bares the legacy-laden Pentastar V6 label. Although there is quite a lot of power to go around – 272 hp and 315 Nm – the volume has been downsized from 3.6- to 3.2-liters. It’s not only some 30 percent more economical than before but is also more refined with less noise and vibrations.

But that’s all top-of-the-line talk. What about the people that can do without all the six cylnders and the foot-long gas bill? How about a 2.0-liter Multijet II turbo diesel engine mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox? Yes, 9-speed. But we’ll get to that later. Fiat’s Multijet (common rail) tech can shoot up fuel into the cylinders with a pressure value of up to 1,600 bar thus ensuring smoothness and frugality throughout the cycle. All the while, a variable geometry turbocharger and a double overhead camshaft controlling 16 valves in total get the Cherokee’s power rated at 170 hp and 350 Nm (the latter peaking at just 1,500 rpm).

Then there’s the transmission. Are they going for a world record here? Not only 9-speeds but also 40 individual automatic shift maps corresponding to different conditions. The involved software has to consider, among other things, variables such as the engine torque gradients, kick-down events, longitudinal and lateral acceleration and grade changes just so that you and I be always on the right gear.

There is a 140 hp version of the same diesel engine available (mated to a six-speed manual) and another gasoline 2.4-liter engine with 177 hp and 229 Nm at its disposal. The latter of the two, however, will be only available in Russia and the Middle East.

After choosing the right power plant for you, you’ll have to spend another month deciding which 4×4 system to go with. There’s the Jeep Active Drive I (Longitude and Limited models) – a single power transfer unit that is still fully automatic and works its magic in the background. It features a fully-variable wet clutch, housed in the rear drive module, which works in unison with the Cherokee’s ESC system for optimum traction on almost any surface. The Jeep Active Drive II is a more advanced version of the aforementioned (Limited only). It has a two-speed power transfer unit with torque management and a low-range mode (4-Low). It Locks the front and rear drive shafts for low speed power or towing. Essentially, the greater the gear reduction, the better the climbing capabilities of the vehicle. Finally there’s the standard on all Trailhawk Jeep Active Drive Lock package. It includes the Active Drive II system plus a locking differential. As such, the new Cherokee becomes as off-road capable as it will ever be.

On a side note, all 4×4 options feature a standard user-operated Selec-Terrain traction control system that controls way too many of the Cherokee’s systems: drivetrain control module, electronic brake controller, ESC, transmission controller, powertrain controller and Selec-Speed Control (Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control). Also, all are not necessarily 4×4 all the time. They use a rear-axle disconnect module that reduces energy loss when AWD is not required.

Finally, it needs to be mentioned that the new Cherokee’s structure implements a high-resistance steel body (65%). Combine that rigid structure with 70+ safety features and you’ve got yourself a very safe environment for both everyday situations and extreme circumstances.

    Good job, Jeep!

  • Cool Jeep Wrangler Polar Special Edition Is All Hot News

Jeep-Wrangler-Polar-shadowJeep-Wrangler-Polar-mediumToday Jeep are starting up the “Master of Winter” promotional web campaign that is supposed to take you on a virtual adventure with lots of snow, snowboarding, and other fun things. We’re only interested in what’s being promoted here, thank you. It’s the Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition.

Europe is finally getting its fair share of snow, so what better time for the Wrangler Polar to gain some attention. Quite ironically, however, the base model for this ice-cold special edition is a Jeep Sahara. This one, though, is painted in icy blue and has a hood decal depicting mountain peaks, so you know it means business. Still not convinced? Check out the badges behind the fenders that read “Polar 78° S 106° E”. Type in these coordinates in your navigation system and you’ll find yourself at the exact point where the lowest temperature in the world was recorded at -89.2° C or -128.56° F (Vostok in Antarctica). Okay, so none of this make the Polar snow-capable, but it’s cool, right? It also has a new front grille with gloss black accents on the lamp throats and gloss black 18-inch wheels, a solid spare-tire cover, and a color-coordinated top with a deep-tint sunscreen glass.

It’s powered by a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Total power output stands at 200 hp and 460 Nm of torque. It all goes through a Wrangler-signature Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case so it is pretty off-roadish. The rear axle is equipped as standard with a Trac-Lok anti-spin differential.

Inside, you get a nice combo of black leather and white stitching and Polar logos embossed on the headrests (you even get two on the blueish instruments). Standard equipment includes climate control, a multi-media leather steering wheel, heated front seats, cruise control, a native UConnect infotainment and navigation system that uses a 6.5-inch touchscreen, a 40-gigabyte hard disk, USB and AUX ports and a DVD player.
