  • Hennesseey Chevrolet Corvette C7 Does 200 mph

Hennessey-C7-Corvette-shadowHennessey-C7-Corvette-mediumHere’s a video of a Hennessey C7 Corvette going pretty briskly in a straight line. In fact, Hennessey say that this is the first ever 2014 Corvette Stingray to break the 200 mph mark. How much did it achieve? 200.6 mph.

It is an impressive achievement on its own, but if we compare it to the recent GEMBALLA run, it all becomes quite awkward. The 700 hp Panamera-based GTP did crack the 211 mph threshold without being on a diet or anything (a bit over two tonnes as you would find it on the street). The not-weighing-more-than-a-ton-and-a-half Hennessey C7 also brandishes a 700 hp engine because of its aftermarket long-tube headers, ported factory cylinder heads, high-flow cats, and camshafts. There’s even a Nitrous Experss system provided for those last 100 hp. Apparently, the finished product will scrap the nitrous but will provide a TVS R2300 supercharger and the 700 figure will remain unchanged.

Still, we have to give credit where credit’s due. Hennessey didn’t have the disposal of the Nardo ring. The test was performed on a brand new stretch of Texas State Highway 99. They wasn’t any need to close it off since it’s not even open to the public yet. Talk about a grand opening, huh?

Everyone involved seem to be rather pleased anyway and that’s what counts:

“We’re thrilled to have validated our upgraded C7’s performance at one of the best possible highways not only in America, but the world.” said Don Goldman, Hennessey CEO

  • Hennessey Performance Shares First Details On Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Project

2014 Hennessey Performance Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 frontHennessey Performance has jus exclusively disclosed the first details around their new project on the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7. The project has been teased with two images, revealing how the car will look like.

Corvette Stingray is equipped with LT1 6.2-liter V-8 unit, which produces 460 hp (338 kW) and delivers an enhanced improved fuel economy. But obviously this wasn’t enough for Hennessey Performance specialists.

Therefore, they embarked on a project, called Hennessey HPE700 Corvette in order to make the new Chevrolet Stingray even faster, exquisite and extraordinary. The car is expected to officially debut in October 2013.

It is expected that after the tuning the car will be able of producing 700 hp (515 kW) thanks to the incorporation of TVS R2300 supercharger. Packing 8 psi of boost through custom CNC-ported factory cylinder heads, working with proprietary intake and fueling systems plus a recalibrated ECU, the system should provide enough thrust for exciting driving.

The transmission choices that are being offered here are either the 7-speed manual or 6-speed automatic one. The HPE700 Corvette will be visually enhanced via the CarbonAero™ body treatment.

It comprises of an aggressive front splitter, notched rear spoiler, side sills and a hood. The latter includes a deeply drawn power dome and dramatic central vent that both decreases underhood temperatures while at the same tine increasing downforce by evacuating air.

Furthermore, the body pieces are made of hand-laid carbon fiber. They serve in terms of increasing the downforce and creating an aggressive visual stance. In addition, the car can be equipped with 10-spoke H10 alloys shod matched with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

An optional coilover suspension system which uses Penske double-adjustable shocks will be also available. There are additionally being offered Brembo brake upgrade with carbon-ceramic rotors.

  • World’s Fastest Production Car from 0 – 300 km/h – Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Performance (HPE) has broken two sensational Guinness records. The first one is “Fastest Production Car from 0 – 300 km/h” and the second “Fastest Production Car from 0 – 200 mph”. The “tool” was a street-legal Venom GT supercar.

The acceleration time was an average of two runs made in opposite directions within one hour and validated by a VBox 3i GPS-based data logging system. VBox officials were on hand to certify the numbers as required by Guinness rules. The first run was completed in 13.18 seconds with a 4 mph tailwind. The second run was made in 14.08 seconds while encountering a 6 mph headwind. The resulting two-way 0-300 km/h average was 13.63 seconds.

“We are exceptionally proud of our team at HPE who helped to make this new Guinness® World Record possible,” commented company founder and president, John Hennessey.

“This is just the first of several validation tests designed to show the world what our special car is all about – being the fastest. Period.”, he added.

    The Hennessey Venom GT is powered by a 7.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 – 1,244HP (915 kW) and 1,559Nm (1,155 lb-ft). The curb weight is 1,244 kg (2,743 lbs). So, the power-to-weight ratio is 1.

The street legal supercar has Michelin Pilot Sport Cup DOT-approved radial tires, uses 93-octane pump fuel, and has a full interior replete with high-end stereo, air conditioning, and bespoke leather/Alcantara seats.

Venom GT is based on Lotus Exige, but with enormous twin-turbo 6.2 liter V8 with whopping 1217PS (895 kW) and 1564Nm (1155 lb-ft). The engine is mated to a 6-speed Ricardo manual gearbox. The car weighs just 1220kg (2585 lbs), so the performance is more like a level 5 twister. 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 443 km/h (275 mph). 0-200 km/h in 7.96 seconds and 0-300 km/h in 13.5 seconds.
