  • 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso Technospace Revealed

Citroen-C4-Picasso-Technospace-THUMBCitroen has just released the first images and information around their new 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso Technospace. The model will have a launch this summer and of course will be the excellent expression of company’s “Creative Technologie” moto.

The C4 Picasso benefits from the new EMP2 platform. It has reduced overhang (-70mm at the front); a lower engine block (-40mm to -50mm) and floor (-20mm) and wider tracks (+82mm at front and +31mm at the rear).

The assertive front end includes new look chevrons which extend out to spectacular hi-tech lights. Slim LED daytime-running lights, positioned just above the headlamps, flank the radiator grille, while the fog lamps complete the very original light signature.

At the rear, there are also LED lights mounted and they create modern 3D effect. In addition, the model will be available in a range of eight colours from Shark Grey, Aluminium, Hickory Brown and Obsidien Black to radiant Ruby Red, Teles Blue and Kyanos Blue. It will run on a range of alloy wheel designs in a choice of three sizes – 16”, 17” and 18”.

The interior of the 2014 C4 Picasso include some special features such as panoramic windscreen and large glass roof. The contemporary design is also evident in the quality of the materials and attention to detail. Some of the highlights in the interior are varnish on the paintwork, soft paint application technology, chrome technologies, full-grain leather for greater strength.

The dashboard is designed asymmetrically and combines several complementary colours and materials. The seats are designed elegantly thanks to the light-coloured Nappa leather which also delivers a sense of comfort.

2014 Citroen C4 Picasso is 140kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to the already mentioned EMP2 platform. The latter utilizes aluminium, and when it is combined with very high yield strength steel and a composite rear floor the result is a decrease of 70 kg. The body style cuts a further 70 kg through enhanced exterior dimensions and new materials such as an aluminium bonnet and composite tailgate.

A logical consequence is the enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions. In addition, C4 Picasso is the first compact MPV with an internal combustion engine which delivers sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.

For instance, the e-HDi 90 Airdream engine matched with the six-speed clutchless gearbox emits just 98g/km and has a fuel economy of 74 mpg. Stop & Start technology is fitted on all diesel units with the exception of the HDi 90 manual.

On the other hand, the popular e-HDi 115 engine emits just 104g/km CO2 with the 6-speed clutchless gearbox, 105g/km with the manual and delivers 70mpg. What is more, the Picasso will be brand’s first model available with a BlueHDi engine.

BlueHDi 150 emits just 110g/km of CO2 and features an SCR module (selective catalytic reduction), currently the most efficient technology for treating NOx (- 90%) and cutting CO₂ emissions in all situations.

In terms of safety, the model is equipped with full range of technologies, which deliver a safe and reassuring driving experience. Some of them are: active cruise controlwith a radar sensor in the front bumper, active driver and passenger front seatbelts, LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System), an image processing function for the miniature camera built into the rear view mirror, an ultrasonic blind spot monitoring system with an orange light in the door mirror, and Citroen eTouch.

The interior boasts leather package, some metallic accents and Citroen’s infotainment system.

DS4 Electro Shot is the first Citroën to be produced by the new customisation workshop at the Mulhouse production site – a workshop run by body specialists to satisfy the expectations of DS customers looking for a unique, high-quality product with a high level of customised content.

2014-Citroen-C3-THUMB2014 Citroen C3 will make a world debut at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show next month. The C3 model was launched back in 2002 and since then it has achieved a major success in the automotive industry. Now the popular model comes with as fresh features that strengthen and enhance its appeal.

This Citroen is prepared for official market launch in early summer 2013. Here the “Créative Technologie” is featured as a panoramic Zenith windscreen, the efficient engines deliver CO2 emissions as low as 87g/km, and more personality is achieved through assertive styling, a revitalized front end and new tail lights.

First of all, the exterior of the new Citroen C3 has soft curves with dynamic taut lines. The front end is entirely restyled and creates a new ‘face’ with updated chevrons and bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights.

Additionally, expressive new tail light clusters matched together with new reflectors are set underneath the rear bumper. The range’s palette now comprises of nine colours thanks to the addition of the new Ink blue body paint.

Secondly, the interior is finely crafted with top-quality materials, including chrome detailing and a thermo-coated soft-touch dashboard. This can be emphasized through the new dashboard strips in matt black, a warm brown or Moondust grey, which coordinate with the new style upholstery. The instrument cluster is also backlit in white for a modern look.

Although the exterior dimensions of this vehicle are in general compact: 3.94m long and 1.71m wide – with a 10.8m turning circle, the new C3 offers a spacious and practical interior. For instance, it includes 300-litre boot which is among the largest in its class. The semi-high seats deliver easy access and give occupants a commanding view of their surroundings.

Furthermore, the unique Zenith windscreen included in the C3 provides greater visibility. In particular, it increases the upward field of vision for front passengers by 80° and when it is combined with ultra-slim pillars it gives a panoramic view of the road ahead. In addition, the screen will also offer to the occupants a solar protection at the top, which gradually merges into clear glass for an optimum field of vision.

What is more, the comfort of the driving experience is enhanced via the reversing camera and parking sensors. The convenience is increased via technology features such as an RD4 MP3 audio system, Connecting Box (Bluetooth hands-free kit, jack plug and USB socket), eMyWay navigation and a powerful HiFi System.

In terms of power, C3 has new-generation PureTech 3-cylinder petrol engines with a 1.0 or 1.2-litre capacity. Although lively and responsive to drive, they are also fuel and CO2 efficient. For example, the VTi 68 and VTi 82 PureTech engines achieve impressively low fuel consumption, between 62.8 and 65.7mpg, and CO2 emissions between 99 and 104g/km.

And in addition, 2014 Citroen C3 is to be offered with four diesel engines – HDi 70, e-HDi 70, HDi 90 and e-HDi 115. Three of them include micro-hybrid e-HDi technology with the Stop & Start system, thanks to which the C3 makes one of the best fuel efficiency and lowest CO2 emissions cars in its class.

  • Citroen DS3 WRC

Citroen Racing and Abu Dhabi now takes real shape with the presentation of the racing programmes for the 2013 season. The Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team’s line-up for this year’s FIA World Rally Championship will feature three crews: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen, Dani Sordo/Carlos del Barrio and Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena. Khalid Al-Qassimi will also be taking part in the majority of the WRC events, but will be competing first and foremost in the FIA Middle East Rally Championship.

“We are very proud to have forged a relationship with a partner that is as prestigious and dynamic as Abu Dhabi,” commented Yves Matton, Citroen Racing Team Principal.

“Like our long-time partner Total, Abu Dhabi will be visible across all our 2013 programmes: on the works teams competing in the WRC and the MERC (Middle East Rally Championship), but also in the Citroen Racing Trophy held in the main countries in Europe. Together, we are also committed to establishing a rally driver development programme with Abu Dhabi Racing.”, he added.

The eight-time World Rally Championship-winning works team – including five consecutive titles between 2008 and 2012 – will now be known as the Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team. Three cars will compete at each of the thirteen rounds on the WRC calendar. Lining up in all of the events in the no.2 DS3 WRC, Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen will be looking to win the Drivers’ title.

“Now that I have my first season with Citroen under my belt, I feel ready for this new challenge,” asserted the Finn. “I have been World Championship runner-up four times, so the next logical step is to aim for first place!”

The second DS3 WRC nominated to score points towards the Manufacturers’ World Championship will be driven by Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena at four rallies.

“We’ll start the season in Monte-Carlo and we’ll also be competing in Sweden, because it’s a rally that I would love to win in normal racing conditions. And I couldn‘t begin to think about missing the Rallye de France,” confirmed Seb.

  • Citroen DS5 Hybrid4: More Environmentally Considerate Than Ever

Citroen-DS5-THUMBCitroen-DS5-6512012 Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 is now more efficient than ever before. The engineers from the popular French brand have made him environmentally considerate and thus appealing even more to customers.

As a matter of fact, all three Hybrid4 200 Airdream EGS6 models in the DS5 range have received technical updates so that they can now deliver CO2 emissions from just 91g/km. In addition, this decrease in CO2 emission goes hand-in-hand with improved fuel economy.

To go further into details, the enhanced fuel efficiency is due to new management software. The latter was developed for the full-hybrid diesel powertrain with a number of technical improvements so that now this Citroen model has optimized efficiency.

Here some important enhancements include improved energy recovery when decelerating and braking, and a new battery management system. This makes the newly re-homologated DS5 Hybrid4 drivetrain reducing the official CO2 emissions for the DSign model from 99g/km to 91g/km (BIK tax band 10%).

Moreover, DStyle and DSport versions see their emissions reduce from 107g/km to 102g/km, with a BIK band change from 12% to 11%. Another feature, which reduces the emissions, is the 17-inch ‘Houston’ alloy wheels.

They are available as a no-cost option on Hybrid4 DStyle and DSport versions. The wheels have smaller diameter thus reducing the cars’ CO2 emissions from 102g/km to 91g/km – the same as the entry-level DSign (giving a further BIK reduction from 11% to 10%).

  • Citroen DS3 Electrum Concept at the Paris Motor Show

    Citroen
is going to present the new DS3 Electrum Concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The technology used on the ‘plugged-in’ and ‘electrifying’ DS3 Electrum city car ensures performance consistent with the current DS3 together with zero emissions, a range of up to 75miles (120 km) and optimum on-board comfort with zero noise. Fully respecting the spirit of DS3, the Electrum concept shows that a full-electric car can be a thrill to drive and that being environmentally considerate doesn’t have to be boring.

DS3 Electrum’s electric drivetrain has an innovative and non-intrusive design. It has two 65kW electric motors on the front axle. This development makes it possible to ‘electrify’ existing internal-combustion vehicles. DS3 Electrum also includes a Panasonic 17.5kWh lithium-ion battery and a charging socket located under the fuel flap for connecting to quick charging stations. An 80% charge can be achieved in just 30 minutes.

Still, there are no pictures of the vehicle, so we expect the official premiere at this year’s Paris Motor Show to take a glimpse to the interesting vehicle.

    Stay tuned!

  • 2014 Citroen DS3 Cabrio – First Pictures Released

2014 Citroen DS3 Cabrio - Side2014 Citroen DS3 Cabrio will make its first world debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. This is the cabriolet version of the multi-award winning DS3 which uses intelligent design to make top-down driving considerably easier and more enjoyable.

The DS3 line-up was launched two years ago and immediately captured the hearts of many with its distinctive style and improved personalization options. Adding a convertible to the range, DS3 Cabrio doesn’t lack all the hallmarks and thrills of DS3, but instead delivers even bolder styling, sophisticated refinement, extensive personalisation and enjoyable handling, combined with the pleasure of al-fresco driving.

Furthermore it will continue Citroen‘s personalization philosophy by offering three soft-top roof styles – black, Infinite blue and a DS Monogrammed design. An innovative 3D rear light signature and original tailgate opening action are some of the refinements included.

Being totally urban and contemporary, the DS3 Cabrio delivers to customers electrically operated roof up to motorway speeds, 5-seater cabin and a large boot, in fact – the largest in the class.

Furthermore, the French brand announced the first details of the Cabrio. It is 3.95 m long, 1.71 m wide and 1.46 m high. This basically means that it keeps the hatchback’s compact and agile proportions.

All the unique styling choices are also retained. For example such are the “floating” two-tone roof and dynamic “shark fin”, the sculpted front-end with its instantly recognisable LED daytime running light signature.

However, an innovation is the soft-top roof, which is a source of personalization either. It will be available in a range of colors and designs that add to the model’s unique personality. In addition to this DS3 Cabrio can choose among seven body colors with the folding roof available in three designs – black, Infinite blue and DS Monogramme.

    2014 Citroen DS3 Cabrio - interior

In particular, there are going to be available six decors: grey, Brillant black, white, Carbotech, Infinite blue and Moondust grey. The rear also features a new three-dimensional LED light signature.

An innovation here is the 3D LED tail-light technology. The central part of it is made of a rectangular set of 31 LEDs and semi-reflecting mirrors which reflect the light guide into infinity.

The 3D unit illuminates at night when the headlamps are turned on and in daylight during braking. A 15-LED blade on the upper part of the light emphasizes the 3D unit and serves as both side and stopping lights.

Another important detail in terms of innovations included is that the roof takes just 16 seconds to fully close up to speeds of 120km/h (75mph). Moreover, a button, positioned on the ceiling console, opens the roof to three positions: intermediate, horizontal and total.

Occupant space of the car perfectly fit for up to five adult. In addition, the DS3 Cabrio features the largest boot in its class estimated at 245-litres. The aerodynamics are identical to that of the hatchback. However some of the modifications here include adding a longer spoiler and aerodynamic deflectors on the quarter-light surrounds.
