Chevy gears 2017 Colorado with mighty drivetrain units!

2017 Chevrolet Colorado In order to rock 2017 Model Year, Chevy team gears the new Colorado with redesigned V6 power unit and class-exclusive eight-speed automatic gearbox system. And as we see it, this is probably the biggest change and improvement done on the vehicle since the big restyling program back in 2015. So, let’s find out what makes Chevrolet brand sell more than 160,000 Colorados in the first 24 months since the launch.

The engine system

This second-gen Chevrolet double-overhead-cam power unit keeps the same 3.6-liter displacement, but now includes variable valve timing for intake and exhaust, enhanced direct injection and Active Fuel Management System (the so-called cylinder deactivation). And the most important thing: the horsepower and torque have increased to a total of SAE-certified 308hp (230kW) and 275lb-ft at 4,000rpm.

The automatic transmission system

The GM-developed Hydra-Matic 8L45 has many advantages, compared to the 6L80 (the older model). Although they both share the same size and weight, the 8L80 comes with wider 7.0 overall gear ratio spread, which directly results on higher first gear ratio, which further helps the driver start off more confidently and furiously. This also helps when there is heavy load or when trailering.

And the best news? Well, Colorado fans will not wait that much for this one to be available for purchase: the enhanced vehicle comes in the fourth quarter of this year. Sweet.

Chevy adds more spice: here are some more details for the 2017 Camaro machines! [w/video]

2017 ZL1, the most powerful Camaro produced so far, along with the track-ready 1LE come to show some outstanding performance both on the road and on the track. So, it is expected that, when the vehicles go on sale later this year, they will deliver incredible features for relatively good price: about $69,135 USD for the convertibles. Of course, this price includes destination charge, but excludes taxes, titles and some more dealer fees. Also, there are additional upgrade packs for the Camaro V-6 LT coupe and the V-8 1SS coupe between $4,500 to $6,500 USD. These upgrade packs include some tweaked suspension system, electronic limited-slip differential and Magnetic Ride dampers. Sweet!

Chevy team reveals the 2017 NASCAR XINFINITY race car. Check it out!

2017 Chevrolet NASCAR XINFINITY Series Camaro SS As the Camaro marks its 50th anniversary, Chevy team announced the sixth-generation of Camaro SS that will serve as the main vehicle in NASCAR XFINITY Series in the upcoming season.

The heavily revised race vehicle was first shown at Daytona International Speedway ahead of Subway Firecracker 250 event, presented by Coca-Cola. The official race debut is scheduled for February at the 2017 season’s NASCAR XFINITY Series kickoff race at Daytona.

How strong is Chevy Silverado’s body structure. These experiments give a decent idea [w/video]

2016 Chevrolet Silverado Numerous laboratory tests and experiments show that Silverado’s roll-formed and high-strength steel bed outperforms all similar body structures in a segment. Or, at least, this is what Chevy team tries to convince us in.

According to Sandor Piszar, brand’s truck marketing director, the Silverado has these advantages over other competitors:

Chevrolet has conducted three comparisons to the stamped aluminum bed of 2016 Ford F-150. Also, some of the test included a wedge-shaped striker that examined body’s rigidity in the hard way. But the sample remained intact up to 90 joules of impact energy, while the bodies of competitors have crushed at just 30 joules.

Also, Mr. Piszar makes a statement that the Silverado remained undamaged by 55 landscaping block weighing with a total weight of 347 kilograms were dropped into the bed five feet above the bed floor. In all of the takes that were 12, the Silverado got only scratches and dents. The video also shows some more experiments with brute force, but we will remain silent, so you can watch with interest.

In fact, vehicle’s strength originates from a high-strength steel alloy connection that is so strong, it cannot be formed with traditional stamping. Instead, Chevy engineers use roll-forming process which enhances material strength by creating less material fatigue than stamping. Cool.

Transformers 5 Bumblebee based on Chevy Camaro to go into production?

Transformers: The Last Knight is the fifth episode of the movie series, which is about to be released on 23rd of June next year. There is more than a year to go, but still the interest among fans is very high. Director Michael Bay knows that and has just published the first image of the Bumblebee, based on the Chevy Camaro and specifically made for the film.If you remember the last time Bay done this (previewing the Bumblebee Concept for the Transformers 4), then you should also know that it caused a little bit of disappointment among fans. They thought that the car is more than “overdone” and that it has nothing to do with reality (pictures included in the link below).

Unlike the previous version, the new Bumblebee features an aggressive front fascia, which looks a lot like the recently released 2017 Camaro. This actually hints to the fact that the concept might actually hit production. Or? We don’t have enough details to confirm that, but we are still hoping.What do we see here? The Bumblebee above features a lot more than an aggressive body kit. It exudes style and temper, which is the perfect combination needed for future blockbusters like Transformers 5. However, the changes we see here are a brand new front splitter and ventilated vents, ventilated hood, air ducts as well as LED fog lights. The sides are adorned by new skiers, while the rear carries a brand new carbon made wing. And have you spotted the black paint coated five-spoke alloys? Aren’t they cool?The only problem we have with the production variant of this car is that it would be extremely expensive and will have a very limited market. If… it happens. Chevrolet team gears the 2017 Camaro ZL1 with the almighty Hydra-Matic transmission

2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 With faster gear shifts than a dual-clutch gearbox and wider gear ratio, the already available Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission sets new benchmark and new performance standards, when equipped on the 2017 Camaro ZL1.

Probably the first to-be-geared with the Hydra-Matic system, the Camaro ZL1 will benefit from greater overall performance, wider 7.39 overall gear ratio spread, smaller steps between gears and enhanced fuel consumption efficiency.

Furthermore, Chevy has already proved that the new ZL1 with 10-speed transmission is faster than Porsche PDK dual-clutch system. Also, the 1-2 upshift is 36 per cent quicker than the PDK, while 2-3 and 3-4 are respectively 27 and 26 percent faster. Cool.

Also, Chevy team has made some additional changes under the name of Creative packaging in order to optimize and harmonize the whole drivetrain system in order to fit the special transmission system. Camaro now comes with all-new proprietary electronic control system and performance calibrations. Also, there are some precise fine-tunes made onto different drivetrain system components.

Further goodies include a reduction in spin losses, thanks to the two non-applied clutches, new ultra-low viscosity gearbox fluid to reduce friction across the full temperature operating range and internal thermal bypass that allows the transmission to warm up faster for optimal performance rates.

New High Desert package makes Chevrolet Silverado more capable and attractive

Chevrolet Silverado High Desert package has been specifically introduced for those who are looking for more from the Silverado. It is available on LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels and will arrive in dealers this fall. Actually, the model is based on a concept variant, which was on display at 2014 SEMA Show. Yes, this means that it brings unique content and great capability.

In short, the High Desert pack adds improved exterior styling, new lockable cargo system and Magnetic Ride Control suspension for the High Country grade. To go in details, interesting here is the new flexible and lockable storage system in the cargo bed, which locks the cargo away safely.

The system is mounted over the roll-formed steel bed and adds dual side storage bins and a three-piece hard tonneau cover. For all Silverado models, the tailgate locks with the keyfob. This allows users to secure their cargo with the push of a button.

Furthermore the High Desert package also offers a variety of wheels depending on the trim level. Precisely, the LT trim features 20-inch wheels with all-season tires. On the other hand, the 22-inch wheels and all-terrain tires go with the LTZ and High Country levels.

What is more, the top-of-the-range grade, the High Desert, will also get the Magnetic Ride Control suspension. The latter offers more precise body motion control, because of its sensors, which “read” the road every millisecond. When change is detected, they trigger the damping changes in as little as five milliseconds in electronically controlled shock absorbers.

At last but not least, the new Silverado equipped with the High Desert pack will be driven with the EcoTec3 6.2L V-8 engine (LTZ and High Country trims). The unit is connected to Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission and is rated at 420 horsepower (309 kW) and 623 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque. This makes it the most powerful engine in a light-duty truck currently in the market.

Power unleashed: 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is available for order!

2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Chevy announces details for the track-based 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. With redesigned track-focused chassis and suspension systems, the Grand Sport also includes lightweight architecture, downforce-producing aerodynamic pack, improved cooling system, electronic limited-slip differential and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Cool, right?

All these tweaks ensure 0-60mph (100km/h) run that ends in mere 3,6 seconds, a quarter mile run in 11,8 seconds with average speed of 212km/h (118mph) with the optional Z07 performance package with paddle shifters and eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Also, in addition to all the goodies, Grand Sport features special exterior elements and details as specific front fender inserts and Z06-style grille, along with widened fenders and rear quarter panels.
