  • 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Price – $54 995

2012 Chevrolet Camaro is one of the most beautiful and stunning cars available on the market. It comes with unique aggressive exterior, brutal engine and nice characteristics even for everyday driving.

“From the original Camaro to the current Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet has a long history of delivering world-class cars that outperformed competitors at several times the price,” commented Chris Perry, vice president, Global Chevrolet Marketing.

“The ZL1 is no exception. There are very few cars at any price that can match the power, features, and track-capability of the Camaro ZL1.”, he added.

2012 ZL1 is powered by a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 with whopping 588PS (432 kW) and 754Nm (556 lb-ft), which is enough to pool several carriages. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed automatic. All that power is sent to the rear wheels, so the handling and fun are insane.

The performance – 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds with automatic gearbox and 4.0 seconds with the manual. The top speed is 296 km/h (184 mph) – automatic and 290 km/h (180 mph) – manual.

“With 0 to 60 taking less than four seconds, and a top speed in excess of 180 mph, the power and acceleration of the Camaro ZL1 rivals many supercars,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

“And, horsepower is only half of the story, as the most significant measurement of the ZL1’s potential is lapping the Nurburgring in 7:41.27. That is a great testament to the power, braking, grip, and balance of the Camaro ZL1, and to the well-rounded performance of the ZL1 that sets the bar for the sports-car segment.”, he added.

All this pleasure comes at decent price – $54 995, including destination charges, so if you consider buying a sports car, ZL1 is one of the best options available on the market.

Sonic Z-Spec #1 – Designers took a turbocharged Sonic five-door and dressed it with concept Z-Spec accessories. Inside, the Cobalt Red cabin features custom trim, including perforated black suede seat inserts, a Z-Spec sport pedal kit, sport shift knob and a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel. Additional upgrades include performance brakes with four-piston calipers, a new high-flow exhaust system and performance suspension parts.

Sonic Z-Spec #2 – The next Sonic concept – in Flat White with Torch Red accents – builds on concept Z-Spec accessories with a more aggressive ground effects package, unique grille, rear spoiler and graphics package. It rides on Z-Spec concept 18-inch wheels and also includes a re-trimmed interior with Z-Spec sport pedal kit, Z-Spec sport shift knob and a flat-bottom steering wheel. As with its five-door counterparts, this Sonic features a re-trimmed interior – in Dark Titanium with Cobalt Red accents – Z-Spec sport pedal kit, aluminum sport shift knob and a flat-bottom steering wheel (trimmed with Cobalt Red suede). The factory turbo 1.4L engine and six-speed manual transmission are complemented by performance upgrades that include four-piston caliper brakes, a high-flow exhaust system and suspension parts.

Sonic Dusk – The most subtle of the Sonic concepts is the Dusk. It features a Berlin Blue exterior, with a mild concept ground effects package, unique grille treatment and 18-inch concept wheels in dark Galvano Silver. Even the lights are tinted blue for a sophisticated statement. The Mojave leather interior has custom seat inserts, Z-Spec shift knob with satin chrome trim, Z-Spec sport pedals and accessory interior trim kit. The Sonic Dusk also features a suede-trimmed, flat-bottom steering wheel, custom audio system and brake and suspension upgrades.

  • 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible will be exhibited at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, next month. When it goes on sale in late 2012, it will deliver more performance and technology than many exotic cars and ultra-luxury convertibles.

“The Camaro ZL1 convertible will be one of the most powerful and most capable, convertibles available at any price,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

“This is a car that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you drop the top – or hit the gas.”, he added.

ZL1 Convertible is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 588PS (432 kW) and 754Nm (556 lb-ft) of torque. This is an improvement of just 11PS and 9Nm over ZL1 Coupe.

Four strategic reinforcements enhance the already-stiff body structure to quell the cowl and steering wheel shake common in convertibles. They include:

    • A tower-to-tower brace under the hood
    • A transmission support reinforcement brace
    • Underbody tunnel brace
    • Front “X” brace and stiffer cradle as well as rear underbody “V” braces.

The suspension of the ZL1 convertible uses the third-generation of Magnetic Ride. New, twin-wire/dual-coil dampers at all four corners enable faster response, with damping levels now adjusted up to 1 000 times per second – about one adjustment per inch of vehicle travel at 60 mph – making the system exceptionally responsive to changing driving and road conditions.

The Camaro ZL1 convertible will also offer Performance Traction Management as standard equipment, which is exclusive to General Motors. First introduced on the Corvette ZR1, it is an advanced system that integrates magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control and electronic stability control, to enhance both launch-acceleration performance and corning.

In one word, 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible is simply amazing.

Chevrolet has priced the 2012 Aveo, which will hit the market in next January. The 1.2 LS model is priced at just £9 995, which is a great value for money.

“Much like we did with the Spark, we wanted to take the image of small cars away from being cute and cuddly,” said Chevrolet UK Managing Director Mark Terry.

“Instead, we’ve delivered a car that’s striking, bold and has attitude. It draws on our iconic models, such as the Camaro and Corvette, for its styling influence, with cues such as the distinctive round headlamps and dual-cockpit interior giving it a lot more personality than you’d normally find in this sector of the market.”, he added.

The standard equipment includes remote locking, a rear spoiler, CD-stereo radio, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors and electric front windows.

The LT trim level adds 15” alloy wheels, steering wheel audio controls, air conditioning, a four-way adjustable driver’s seat, sunglasses holder, a Driver Information Centre, Bluetooth phone compatibility, and a chrome gear knob surround. This model is priced at £10 995 with 1.2 liter petrol.

  • 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept

Chevrolet has announced the new Corvette Stingray Concept, which will hit the market in 2013 as a 2014 model.

The truth is that the current model is not so popular among the customers – a total of 9 123 units were sold last year. The latter, by the way, have been the lowest in the last 4 decades of the legend’s production.

The C7 will be lighter and more compact than the C6. Another innovation will be a 7-speed manual gearbox, which was recently introduced by Porsche. There are also rumors of direct injection and variable valve timing on the new V8 engine. This is really a precedent in GMs history, because they have been always counting on simple, big and powerful engines.

What seems sure at this point, though, is that the C7 will come off the production lines in the Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky where the current-generation Corvette is produced.
