  • Have You Heard About the Gen Six Camaro?

Finally, the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro from the 2016 model year is here! It was introduced two days ago at a special event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park. From what we can see, this car undoubtedly carries the spirit of Chevy’s most popular car, but it is also lighter, more potent and features wide array of features. This basically means faster driving experience.

But, what’s new here? Well, the new Camaro is leaner, it is built over a stiffer platform and features slightly smaller dimensions. Its size is accentuated by a sculpted exterior, tuned in the wind tunnel. The result is more aero-dynamism combined with better handling and efficiency.

As a matter of fact, there are only two things that have been kept from the previous generation: the rear bowtie emblem and the SS badge. To achieve this unique result, the Gen Six Camaro, Chevrolet has focused on three main points: performance, technology and design.

    Exterior Design

The tighter and leaner stance of the Camaro has been created via the new light-weight architecture. It also makes the car more athletic and aerodynamic, because of its wider and lower look. Some of the new features of the exterior design are the LEDs, the ten exterior color choices (complemented by five interior color trims) and a lot of accessories.

In addition, the design was aerodynamically optimized after 350 hours of wind tunnel testing. The aim was to optimally minimize the drag on the LT models and enhance downforce on SS.

At the front the Camaro features cross-car grille/headlamp aperture, while at the back it adds expressive taillamps. Unlike other models, the SS have unique rear spoiler, but all models do share the more pronounced, sculpted roof panel. The last feature improves the rigidity of the roof.

    Interior Design

As mentioned, the additional exterior color choices will be complemented by five interior color combinations. Furthermore, the cabin also benefits from the shifter-focused center console, the intuitive controls all over the place as well as the flat-bottom steering wheel.

All of the materials used for the upholstery of the interior are of the highest quality. Other cool features are the control rings around the air vents which are utilized for temperature and fan speed adjustments.

    Technology

Nowadays cars are stuffed with technologies that make everything easier. There are three technology features exclusive to the Gen Six Camaro. The first one is the new Drive Mode Selector, which has the capability of tailoring up to eight vehicle attributes for four modes. The modes are as follows: Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and Track. The last one comes only for the SS models.

The second feature is the Interior Spectrum Lighting, which can make the experience of the passengers amusing, because it offers 24 different ambient lighting effects on the dash, door panels, and center console. At last, the third feature is the high-definition configurable color display. There is also an additional screen but it comes on additional price.

    Performance & Engines

The first thing regarding the performance that the engineers had to do is to make vehicle’s body mass lighter. Hence, the new Camaro has shed more than 200 pounds of weight, thus achieving better driving experience and more responsiveness.

Next on the list were the engines. The range here features six different powertrain combinations. Common among them is that they are designed to show improved performance and efficiency.

In details, Camaro LT comes as a standard powered by 2.0L Turbo unit, which produces 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm). The 0-60 mph acceleration happens in less than six seconds, while the fuel consumption is more than 30 mpg on the highway. This means that this is the most fuel-efficient Camaro ever built.

The LT grade can be also equipped with the 3.6L V6. If this is the case, this means that we should expect 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 284 lb-ft of torque (385 Nm). Both engines can be mated to either the six-speed manual transmission or the Hydra-Matic 8L45 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

At last, the most powerful Camaro is the SS and it is powered by the 6.2L LT1 V8 engine. We know this unit from the Corvette Stingray, but for the Camaro 20 percent of the components were changed and made specific for its architecture. The output of this engine is rated at 455 horses (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft of torque (617 Nm). This one can be connected to six-speed manual or Hydra-Matic 8L90 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

Other vital performance features are the Magnetic Ride Control active suspension and the improved handling. Well, all Camaro models will have Brembo brakes, and will ride on Goodyear tires coupled with either 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale later this year. It will be made available only in two grades: LT and SS.

  • Chevrolet Announces More Details about Gen 6 Camaro

By the end of next week we will have the impression of the sixth generation Camaro. I don’t know about you, but I am really impatient to see it. Chevrolet is obviously sensing the strong anticipation among fans and has released two more pictures (teasers only) of the future model.

They show that the 2015 Camaro will sport a sculpted exterior that will reflect athletic stance and typical muscle car presence. However, let’s take a look back before we discuss the new details.

The first thing that the American company released was that the vehicle will shed more than 200 pounds of its weight. The car will be actually built over a new architecture that is mass-efficient and contributes for the weight savings.

SEE ALSO: Gen 6 Camaro to Shed 200 Pounds

Small changes like the aluminum beam supporting the instrument panel or the aluminum front and rear suspension contribute for that. Chevrolet also said that the dimensions of the exterior and interior are new to the Camaro Gen 6 as well as some of the components in the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 unit.

After these initial announcements Chevy teased the Camaro again, releasing two new images depicting the engine and the exhaust. The company also disclosed that the car will be equipped with new Drive Mode Selector, which will make most of its performance and will feature multiple drive settings.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Camaro Teased Again

Precisely, there will be exactly eight selectable modes, each of which will feature calibrations that will ensure that a specific throttle progression, steering and stability control is delivered. Magnetic Ride Control will be also included for the first time, but only in the SS.

In addition, it was also unveiled that the new Camaro’s sports exhaust system will have electronically controlled valves. Their purpose is to deliver better performance and greater sound levels.

Now, the company is announcing that the Chevy Camaro features leaner and more athletic design that complements the new driving experience. This news is accompanied by two teaser images which are the last two in the gallery below.

The design team at Chevrolet also said that the iconic muscle car will have more expressive design. The exterior of the model will be defined by complex shapes that will follow the functional elements. This means that they will be fitted around the mechanical components.

Take for instance the aluminum hood which includes powerful, but at the same time smoothly curved sculpted forms that were also highlighted by sharp creases. The end effect is that the hood looks like it has been shrink-wrapped around the engine.

In addition, the rear fenders feature an updated design which now includes more detailing, like the subtle crease that is parallel to the fender edge. As a result the new Camaro appears to have lower and wider stance.

Well, that is all for now, but stay tuned because Chevy is surely announcing more details and releasing additional pictures of the 2016 Camaro before its official debut on 16th of May at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.

  • Chevrolet Camaro Teasers

2016 Camaro Exhaust We are all waiting impatiently for the big reveal of the sixth generation Camaro on 16th of May, but until then we can at least enjoy some teasers regarding its structure. The company has released two new images depicting the engine and the exhaust. You can view them below in the gallery (they are the last two photos). More importantly, the company released the news that the car will be equipped with new Drive Mode Selector, which will make most of its performance and will feature multiple drive settings.

Other new technologies will also give the chance to drivers to tailor the car to the particular moment they are driving it. This will allow a lot of flexibility and this was actually inspired by the current Camaro ZL1 that is perfect for any kind of driving.

Aaron Link, Camaro’s lead engineer, said that the new model will be “even more adaptable” and will have eight selectable modes. And here steps in the Drive Mode Selector. It will include Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and Track settings, depending on the model. Each mode will feature calibrations that will ensure that a specific throttle progression, steering and stability control is delivered.

Magnetic Ride Control will be also a first, but it will be available only in the SS. What is more, Tour, Sport and Track programs will be offered by the active damping system and they will change the ride and handling balance.

At last, Chevrolet said that the new Camaro will sport a dual-mode exhaust system that will have electronically controlled valves. It will not only deliver great performance but also superior sound levels. Oh, and let me tell you a secret. It will also have these cool personalization options that will allow the driver to switch between “stealth” and “track” mode.

Chevrolet is going to make an official premier of the Gen 6 Camaro on 16th of May with a special public event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.

  • Gen 6 Camaro to Shed 200 Pounds

2016 Chevrolet Camaro's aluminum beam 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is not going to debut at the New York Auto Show. Instead, it is going to do that at its own special event at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. We have already heard its engine and now it is time for more details that reveal the untamed nature of the car. The team behind the construction of the sixth generation Camaro was challenged to bring about more from the handling, acceleration and to make sure that the fuel efficiency is even better.

This was a really tough task, because it meant that the new Chevy needed to loose more than 200 pounds (in comparison to the fifth gen version). At the same time, the engineers promised that some of the key characteristics of the Gen 5 will be kept. One of them is the agility, which allows for harder brakes and fantastic management of cornering.

In addition, the car will be also built over a brand new architecture that is mass-efficient and contributes for the weight savings. Such role has played other small changes like the aluminum beam supporting the instrument panel compared to the previous one made of steel. In addition, from aluminum are also made the front and rear suspension.

Chevrolet says that even the size of the muscle car has been changed. In fact, the exterior and interior dimensions are new to the Camaro and even some of the components in the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 unit. All that is left is to pray for more teasers until 16th of May, because this is the exact date of the debut.

  • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Breaks Silence [VIDEO]

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Architecture TeaserThe silence is finally broken! We urge you to hear the throat of the next generation Camaro in the video below. The sixth edition of the most popular muscle car will be absolutely unique, right? What you don’t know is that the new Chevy model has been entirely reworked. In fact almost 70 percent of its architecture components are one-off. This means that Camaro Six will be a true performance master from the inside out judging from the sound it produces.

In addition, Chevrolet told us some very special details about the car. First, we must expect an “all-new car”, starting from the front with the redesigned grille and ending with the rear spoiler. In fact, there are exactly two elements that are taken from the fifth gen Camaro and these are the bowtie emblem on the taillamp panel and the SS badge.

Next, the car will be based on the Alpha architecture developed by General Motors. If this does not speak anything to you, then it is probably good to know that the Alpha will offer engaging driving dynamics, refined experience and the needed balanced stiffness. As mentioned, this architecture includes components that are new in the amount of up to 70 percent.

Even the size of the muscle icon is changed. Chevrolet says that the exterior and interior dimensions are new to the Gen 6, as well as the front and rear suspension and some of the components in the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine. Mentioning the powertrain, 20 percent of it will be tailored to fit the Camaro’s new dimensions, including the tubular “tri-Y”-style exhaust manifolds.

Another instance is the front structure that is now lighter, while the profile is widened in order to deliver more stable driving experience. In addition, inside we will meet an interior that we have never seen before.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be unveiled on 16th of May at event in Detroit’s Belle Isle park. There are a lot of teasers to be unleashed until then, so stay tuned for more information and don’t forget to watch (and hear) the video below.

  • GM issues six recalls

    GM-Logo_thumbGM-Logo_651

The US automobile giant GM has issued six recalls that affect vehicles sold in the United States and that cover 717,949 cars sold recently. Here’s a list of the recalled vehicles:

414,333 2011-2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro; 2010-2012 model year Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain; 2011-2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse; and 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX models in the U.S. equipped with power height adjustable driver or front passenger seat structures. In these cars there is a problem with a bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator. The bolt may become loose or even fall out. If the bolt falls out the seat will move up and down freely because it is no longer attached to the height adjuster. The vehicles are safe to be driven but there have been reports of injuries and one crash.

124,007 model year 2014 Chevrolet Caprice, 2014 Chevrolet SS, 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado LD and HD, 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2014 Cadillac ELR; 2013-2014 Buick Encore; and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra LD and HD vehicles. Some of these vehicles may have an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly. If there’s such a weld, dealers will replace the lower seat track at no cost. There are no reports of crashes or injuries.

120,426 2011-2013 model year Buick Regal and 2013 model year Chevrolet Malibu equipped with front turn signals that use two bulbs in each front turn signal. If one bulb is burnt out the driver inside will not get a turn signal in the instrument cluster; if both bulbs burn out the driver will get a rapidly flashing turn signal arrow in the instrument cluster. The body control module has to be reprogrammed to solve this issue – something that dealers can do. There are no reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue.

57,242 2014 Chevrolet Impalas equipped with belt-drive electric power steering. On some vehicles, customers may experience reduced or no power steering assist at start-up or while driving. The reason is a poor electrical ground connection to the Power Steering Control Module. Steering control will be maintained because the vehicle will revert to manual steering mode but greater driver effort will be required, especially when driving at lower speeds. The issue can be resolved at your local dealer. So far there has been one crash but there are no reports of injuries or fatalities.

1,919 2014-2015 Chevrolet Sparks imported from Korea. In these cars there is a lower control arm bolt that is not fastened to specification. This issue may create noise coming from the front suspension and separation of the lower control arm from the steering knuckle while driving, which will result in loss of steering control. The issue can be resolved at your local dealer. There are no reports of crashes, fatalities or injuries.

22 2015 model year Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon Denali vehicles. Here the roof carriers may have been attached with the wrong retaining nuts, which will result in holes or tears in the roof rail air bags if they deploy. Eight of these vehicles are in dealer stock and will be repaired before being sold.

If you own one of these vehicles you are strongly advised to get it checked at a dealer near you.

  • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro To Get Four-Cylinder Engine

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will probably get some changes when compared to the current generation car. However, they won’t include design modifications, but rather some engine tweaks. There has been rumored that the new Chevy will be equipped as an option with four cylinder engine. These assumptions are based on the reports that the car will be lighter by several hundred pounds. Furthermore, the new 2016 Camaro will also grow on size, meaning that it won’t use anymore the short-wheelbase version of Alpha from the Cadillac ATS. It will be rather built on the long-wheelbase CTS.

In other words this will make the new Camaro 2.3 inches longer than the current generation. The overall length of the car is expected to be around 114.6 inches, and this means that it will be 7.5 inches longer than the 2015 Ford Mustang, but still shorter than the current Dodge Challenger.

The smaller, entry-level engine fitted to the coupe, is expected to be like the one used in the Cadillac ATS and CTS – the 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrain. This unit produces 272 horsepower (200 kW) and 400 Nm (295 pound-feet) of torque. Actually, most probably the car will be equipped with modified 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, which we have seen in the new Mustang. This unit is capable of more than 305 hp (2205 kW) and 407 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque.

Of course, there has been nothing said about discontinuation of the current 3.6-liter V-6 and 6.2-liter V-8 units. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will make an official world debut in the beginning of 2015. It is expected to go on sale later that year.

  • Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Indy 500 Pace Car To Be Driven By Dario Franchitti

Dario Franchitti who is a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner will be driving the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Indy 500 Pace Car at the Indianapolis 500 in May. In fact, for the eight time a Camaro becomes the official pace car for the show, with a first appearance in 1967.

The driver – Franchitti, won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and his appearance in the Z/28 pace car shows a new start in his career. He sys that it is a tremendous honor to drive the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500, and adds that he will appreciate every minute of getting to pace the field in the new 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

The Pace Car is based on the brand new 2014 Camaro Z/28, which is the most track-capable model in its history. The car was built on the legacy of the original SCCA Trans Am-series contender, which was originally introduced in 1967.

The design of the Z/28 focuses mainly on track capability, thus sporting unique exterior elements. In addition, it is designed just like a race car in order to generate downforce that delivers greater grip – up to 1.08 g in cornering acceleration – and faster lap times.

And to harmonize perfectly with the great power of the car, Chevrolet designers gave it greater stopping power. The Z/28 is equipped with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes capable of 1.5 g in deceleration, and also has reduced curb weight. In fact, this Camaro weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1.

The model as well as the Pace Car, is driven by the 7.0L LS7 engine, which is rated at 505 horsepower (376 kW) and 652 Nm (481 lb-ft) of maximum torque. In fact, the powertrain is hand-built and is coupled with a six-speed manual transmission.

  • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro – Redesigned And Worth Waiting For [VIDEO]

2016-chevrolet-camaro-THUMBAlthough there are no official images of the sixth generation Camaro yet (credit to those featured in the article goes to the designers), the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is promised to look different than before. What was announced was that there aren’t going to be many differences in terms of style, so we are to see the iconic Camaro design for sure.

However, Chevrolet is promising an evolutionary design and entirely new engineering under the skin of the car. We are almost sure that the new Camaro will be probably lighter and smaller in size as well as more agile, since rumors are pointing at all-new vehicle architecture.

These changes are a result of the philosophy of the bran to follow the trend which demands mainstream performance cars that deliver great fuel economy and satisfying driving experience. What is more, the rear-wheel drive system which is to be featured was already introduced to Cadillac’s ATS and CTS models, and it will serve in terms of reducing weight.

Unofficial forums over the internet also discuss the possible powertrains that will drive the sixth-gen model: 2.0 liter turbocharged I4 LTG, 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 LFX and twin turbo V6 LF3, V8 Small Block, and 6.2 and 7.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 Small Block LT1.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be officially premiered at next year’s Detroit Motor Show. Below, you can watch a video showing some of the possible future designs of the car. Stay tuned!
